ITF tournament details

Hi, just wondering how you managed to find the new links to WTA tournaments on the ITF website, like 2002 Pilot Pen draws? If I search on tournaments via the ITF search screen I only seem to be able to find the ITF tournaments but no longer the WTA tournaments. There are an awful lot of WTA tournament articles with now invalid ITF links which need to be updated so if I know how to find these draws I can assist in the update effort.--Wolbo (talk) 21:40, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Wolbo, my method is as follows: first I pick the singles winner, in the case of New Haven 2002 that was Venus Williams. Click through to her article. At the bottom, click through to her ITF profile page. Usually this comes up with 'Singles' – if not: choose 'Singles'. Click on 'Titles'. Somewhere in the year 2002 you find New Haven in the 'Tournament' column. Click on the New Haven city name, and you will get the wanted page.

Pommée, thanks, was not aware of that option. Was looking all over the place to find the non-ITF tournaments, on the previous website it was simply a dropdown option on the tournament search screen. Very strange that they hid this option as the tournament page in its new redesign looks pretty good. Have started using it to update ATP/WTA tournament edition articles. Noticed that other language versions also regularly link to the ITF tournament detail/draw page so perhaps it would be a good option to turn it into a wikidata item? --Wolbo (talk) 11:51, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I think it would be useful. Just investigated: a property already exists: P6841 ("ITF tournament ID" in English). It seems, however, that it never got underway: 83 occurrences of which only 3 from a tournament; the rest is talk-talk-talk. The definition of that property is still geared towards the old ten-digit number, and is now useless anyway. Could you take it upon you to redefine the crucial statements in the P6841-definition? My guess is that the new "formatter URL" would be https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/$1 and that the value format would be like lexington/usa/2020/w-int-usa-01a-2020.
