Thanks for your much needed copyedit of Lindenwood University and fast response to copyedit an article with a GAN. Also is there a program to help with copyediting or just really taking some time and just methodically combing the article. Cheers, Bhockey10 (talk) 00:16, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
You are most welcome. There are some exercises you can do to improve your copyediting skills (Have a look here), but as far as I know there are no tools aside from grammar checkers (which aren't always right anyway) to improve copyediting skills. It's a question of experience and the more editing you do the better you will become at it. Best, ► Philg88 ◄talk 01:18, Wednesday March 9, 2011 (UTC)
Franklin D. Roosevelt
Please stay calm and civil while commenting or presenting evidence, and do not make personal attacks. Be patient when approaching solutions to any issues. Ifconsensus is not reached, other solutions exist to draw attention and ensure that more editors mediate or comment on the dispute.
The WP:VANDALISM warning I gave on your talk page is neither a personal attack nor vandalism. Your edit to the Franklin D. Roosevelt page was not constructive. Please familiarise yourself with how Wikipedia works before throwing around warnings about civility. ► Philg88 ◄talk 07:56, Wednesday March 9, 2011 (UTC)
While removing image display information on an image that is no longer present in the article is not technically constructive, it was not destructive. Calling such a thing vandalism per your edit summary, however, was uncivil. Also, adding useless information back into the article was not constructive, either. Η936631(talk)08:02, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
Neither is this discussion. Move on. ► Philg88 ◄talk 07:56, Wednesday March 9, 2011 (UTC)
This was your doing, so do not dismiss me because you can not defend your actions. Retract the vandalism statement. Η936631(talk)08:23, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
Hello, as in H936631's edit summary, he did provide an excuse for undoing, vandalism. However, Philg88, his edit may as well be nonconstructive, but is not necessarily vandalism. Things such as page-blanking is considered vandalism, not an nonconstructive tag change. --Michaelzeng7 (talk) 00:59, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
Hello Philg88, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Patemm, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not unambiguously promotional. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. LoganTalkContributions15:13, 11 March 2011 (UTC)
I tried to fix the remaing glitches to the best of my ability. I let you see if it is up to FA standards now (i personally think it is). Best regards,
Looks good to me too. Unfortunately, as a "concerned editor" I cannot do the FA review but I wish you the best of luck with it. ► Philg88 ◄talk20:51, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
Maybe. I'll keep my eyes peeled. Thanks. 08:59, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
A small Chinese error
I noticed that in this edit, where you inserted "南山镇,龙口", you had assumed that in Chinese, there is a "zoom-out" order when listing the full address of a place (i.e. country comes last). I am rather shocked that you, after living for a while in Haikou, would make such an error... in Chinese places are specified in increasing order of precision, just as dates are. --HXL's RoundtableandRecord21:32, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
In this case all I did was to add the Chinese characters for the extant text. Naturally, I'm familiar with Chinese address order otherwise my mail would never get here :) Best ► Philg88 ◄talk22:22, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
Little pressie
Hi
As requested, take your pick lol :¬) I just finished a 4 hour copyedit so know how you feel...
On 21 March 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Taiji Cave, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that at 5.4 kilometres (3.4 mi) long, the Taiji Cave in Anhui Province is the largest karst cave in East China? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.
Just to thank you for finding errors in Ante Pavelić article. I'm working on a promotion of this article, so any critis is good. I'll correct all this soon, I hope before April 10 when article will apear on Main Page.
Very impressed with your cleanup and wordsmithing at the Uxbridge article. Just curious why the section on the Observer Corps was lost and the Observer Corps entry is now recorded under Royal Air Force, which is a separate organisation? What was the thinking there? 21st CENTURY GREENSTUFF00:17, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
Thanks. Not sure what you mean about the Observer Corps section - there wasn't one when I started the copyedit. I try never to interfere with content, only to clarify and improve the prose. I think that the ROC stuff must have been removed before I started. Best, ► Philg88 ◄talk00:40, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
