Bates method template

I'd like to know whether Ronz's conduct regarding the Bates method cleanup templates is acceptable. Could you please look at Talk:Bates_method#Primary_sources_tag and recent edits to the article? On our user talk pages I admittedly showed questionable judgment in bringing up some past actions of his in an attempt to give him some perspective on this, and will do my best now to stick to the issue at hand, though I don't see what else I can do as far as discussion with him. PSWG1920 (talk) 01:38, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to discuss something with me, please stop the personal attacks first. Thanks! --Ronz (talk) 15:42, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The personal attacks from me, to the extent that they happened, occurred only after you refused to address the relevant issue. For now I am done trying to discuss anything with you. I'm simply asking for insight on your conduct. PSWG1920 (talk) 16:30, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is a valid CSD. It was deleted in a fair image deletion discussion TWICE. It was inappropriately recreated and should be CSDed. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 23:43, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Collectonian, I guess I should have done more background checking before declining the speedy. Have you considered becoming an admin? PhilKnight (talk) 01:38, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No worries...I should have put the links in with the wording, just couldn't remember their exact names. And nah, I get too annoyed with vandals and newbies :P -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 01:42, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock Request Notification

Hello, PhilKnight! A user you have blocked, Standforder (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log), has requested to be unblocked, and your username is listed on my notification opt-in page. The unblock request is on his user talk page here. If you no longer want to recieve these notifications, remove your name from my list. If you would like to be notified about future unblock requests from this user, remove this template from your page. Thank you, DavidWSBot (talk) 02:39, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

your assistance please...

The record shows you closed the {{afd}} on Taj Mohammed (Zormat District Security Officer).

Could you please userify the article, its revision history and talk page to User:Geo Swan/review/Taj Mohammed (Zormat District Security Officer). Geo Swan (talk) 03:40, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Geo Swan, the article is a poorly sourced and negative in tone biography of a living person, so I'm not going to restore. PhilKnight (talk) 05:59, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I left this note on the nominator's talk page. They agreed that informing the contributor who started an article nominated for deletion, as a courtesy, as the deletion policies recommend, is worth doing. Were you aware that the nominator had not followed this advice?
Frankly, I am surprised by your decision.
Perhaps you misunderstood? I am not asking for the article to be restored to article space, merely to have it userified, so I can take a look at it. It was my understanding that requests like this were routinely complied with. Geo Swan (talk) 06:17, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
In case you don't understand, the BLP policy applies to all pages, not just articles. PhilKnight (talk) 16:04, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Are you prepared to e-mail me a copy of the article following my last edit to it?
I do not remember it very well. I do not remember it lapsing from BLP. If it did lapse from BLP I think it would serve the wikipedia project if I was acquainted with how it lapsed from BLP. If I did make a good faith error and lapsed from BLP I believe it best serves the project if I was acquainted, specifically, with how it lapsed from BLP -- so I don't waste my time, and don't waste everyone else's time, by continuing to make similar good faith mistakes that require others' efforts to clean up after me.
I can't help noticing that neither the nominator, the wikipedians who commented, or you, the closing admin, made any mention whatsoever of BLP in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Taj Mohammed (Zormat District Security Officer). Geo Swan (talk) 23:46, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, I'll email you a copy. My reluctance to post the article on-wiki is because nearly all the content is from allegations made by a third party. PhilKnight (talk) 01:38, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

IFDs of album covers

Good work nominating album/single covers for deletion where multiple covers are used in the same article. Have you tried the tag {{subst:dnfcc|3a=yes}} as an alternative? Stifle (talk) 10:09, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question

Seeing that you deleted File:SummerSlam2000poster.jpg, I was wondering if you could restore it? I'll be happy to take care of all license problems with it, if I can.--WillC 11:05, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Happy New Year

Dear PhilKnight,
I just wanted to wish you and your family a happy new year, however you're celebrating it. Whether 2008 was a good year for you, or if it wasn't the greatest year, hopefully 2009 will be better. Cheers, and happy editing in 2009 :-),

Oriental metal

Ahoy PhilKnight. A quick thing. The oriental metal deletion discussion was originally closed with a result of "no consensus". I didn't see this, and the admin has re-opened it for further discussion. Apparently the reason it came up with no consensus is because while there was a firm consensus for delete/merge, there weren't enough people voting the same way between those two. Now, I personally would be happy with delete or merge, I just don't think it should have an article to itself. If you feel that way, and would be happy with either a delete or a merge, would you mind adding that to the discussion?

Please note I'm not trying to make you change your mind, or sway you into saying something you don't mean. Honestly, if you wouldn't be happy with a merge, then that's fine. I just know that some people don't see much difference between the two, and I wouldn't like this article to slip past purely because of this. Cheers Prophaniti (talk) 10:16, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Prophaniti, the title is a plausible search term, so I think either a merge (keeping the article history), or a redirect (after deleting the article history) would be ok. PhilKnight (talk) 10:34, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks PhilKnight, much appreciated :) Prophaniti (talk) 10:45, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi PhilKnight,

I just stumbled over this discussion on WP:AE, specifically your comment

Moreschi, obviously what you're saying is correct. However, the article edits were prior to his notification of the I-P restrictions. PhilKnight (talk) 19:54, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

I may have missed something (I have been away since before Christmas), but I had warned User:Keverich1 of the restrictions myself.

I couldn't find a template for the notification so I just did it off the cuff... Was it somehow insufficient or malformed?

Cheers, pedrito - talk - 05.01.2009 13:54

Hi Pedrito, notifications should be logged at Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Palestine-Israel articles#Log of notifications. PhilKnight (talk) 14:01, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, ok, my bad... Cheers and thanks! pedrito - talk - 05.01.2009 14:26
Sorry to bother you again with this, but could you give User:ליאור and User:Wehwalt a heads-up regarding the restrictions? I was about to do so myself regarding their edits on Gaza beach explosion (2006), but I noticed that Template:Palestine-Israel enforcement states at the bottom that it must be served by an administrator, which I am not...
Cheers and thanks, pedrito - talk - 08.01.2009 16:05

Mac Maolain

Hi Phil. You deleted my page on Mac Maolain for copyright infringement. I apologize, as this was my first attempt and I did not realize that linking to the actual internet sites would be an infringement. Was that the problem, or is using the wording from anal entries etc also part of the reason for deletion? Any help would be appreciated Lyn —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mcmull1 (talkcontribs) 20:52, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It was using the phrases taken from other websites. For example Domnall son of Aed Bec ua Mael Sechnaill, one of two kings of Mide, was killed by the son of Senán ua Leocháin and the Luigne gives a result of http://www.ucc.ie/celt/online/T100016.html Also, I found phrases taken from http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~irlkik/ihm/baronie3.htm PhilKnight (talk) 21:15, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

User:Aberta heads up

Re: your block. Think you should take another look at that edit history. I had just posted a warning on that user but removed it when I looked closer and realized that all the edits are actually fixing broken links. Try any of the links pre and post the edits this user has made. It seemed like link spamming to me at first but now it doesn't. Mfield (talk) 22:45, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gary Husband page

I am am the artist Gary Husband. I spent several hours this evening trying to customise some page full of rubbish someone prepared some years ago. It's been something I've been meaning to try and correct for quite a few years. Each time I did so, entering a substantial and time-consuming amount of correct infomation, the page just reverted back to all the old rubbish.

I took a password and username out this evening to specifically do this.

I will seek legal help getting this information removed if you persist in using it.

It's wrong and full of errors.

Sincerely,

Gary Husband

From what I can see, the only significant difference between your version and the current version, is that the current version lists fewer of the associated acts, and removes the self-promotional content. If there are other errors, please discuss those on the talk page of the article, or provide reliable third-party sources with current information to support the updates.
Please note, that the article is currently nominated for deletion, and may be deleted if the community supports that result. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 23:18, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You think we should full-protect this article, given the possible BLP concerns? If this really is Husband himself, we'd probably be better off not letting this thing be edited until they can be taken care of. I was about to full-protect it myself, but thought I'd bounce the idea off you. Blueboy96 23:25, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Blueboy, I'm not sure. I've listed the page on the Biographies of Living Persons Noticeboard. PhilKnight (talk) 23:54, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why have I been noted?

Please explain me why have I been noted? Why is user under the nickname Angelo De La Paz still being allowed to post pure POV, remove NPOV, call me a fanatic, a Serbian vandal for no reasons? Why do you allow him to remove sources? Why is he allowed to create POV posting "Republic of Kosovo" (not allowed on any other article)?

You haven't given me an explanation for warning me and why isn't user Angelo banned or at least warned for his edits. --Forsena (talk) 13:47, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Angelo De La Paz

User Angelo De La Paz removes sources which he doesn't like [2], calls me a nationalist fanatic and Serbian vandal [3][4], thinks his POV is more important than UN and refers to the Kosovo as "Republic of Kosovo", country and independent from Serbia, [5][6]. Refering to Kosovo as Republic of Kosovo[7] is not allowed by any user in any article as it is Albanian POV why is he allowed to do it? He also claims there are more than 8,000,000 Albanians[8] after the claim I just posted citation needed which he removed [9]. The claim that there are more than 1.3 million Albanians in Turkey is sourced by one unreliable and non-English site. He also has a flag of Kosovo on his main page and claims he is pro-Kosovo [10]. These are clear proves that he is a POV editor. --Forsena (talk) 14:02, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wasn't Soap Boxing

Phil, C'mon

I was'nt soapboxing but you don't need eyes to see my point. Anywayz i dont want to be guilty of not making constructive criticism of that article so I am going to get some valid facts to support my point.

If you really think about it, I was actually recommending a way of improving the article to ensure that the things placed in it are actual facts and not an erroneous work, after all this is Wikipedia and people come to this website to obtain facts, not people's opinion.

Anywayz I will get some facts to support my point and suggest ways they could ensure that they still produce a valid article about White People that does not include false information. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Neo returns2006 (talkcontribs) 21:17, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I noticed that you removed the image gallery from this article and deleted one of the images claiming invalid justification. Does the logo now have to be in the infobox to have a valid rationale? I always thought we could still use old logos to represent some of the history for the station. Many station article have logo galleries or previous logos throughout the article. I guess I'm a little confused at this turn of events and, as I upload many logos, I want to make sure everything is on the level. Thanks. RobDe68 (talk) 18:51, 11 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rob, I've restored the logos, and opened discussions here and here. PhilKnight (talk) 23:32, 11 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for reconsidering at least, I'm going to go ahead and post the two discussions in Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Radio Stations since this precedent could effect a great many station articles that use old logos to signify a station's past branding and identities. hello

Okay, thank you for letting me know. My sources include research from library sources and the already made Hickam Wikipedia page. I lived in Hawaii years ago, where Hickam AFB is located. Just thought it was an important part of Spencer history. :) I'm not exactly sure what you would like me to edit now but if you would like to improve it, you may, but can you not delete it? Thank you, B

Forsena

I saw your comment on this page [11].

I think it's probably worth mentioning that the user I was commenting insulted me twice before I even knew him, created POV edits, and when those edits were reverted he warned me. I do not and I will never care about warnings I get from an Albanian extremist (take a look at his page).

Take a look at history of Albanians to see his openly POV edits that are on the limits of fascism, and insults which prove he insulted me first for no reason, except he is a Serbophobe. --Forsena (talk) 19:39, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
