SPI

Take a look at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Oriental Aristocrat. Thanks Capitals00 (talk) 19:23, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The SPI is stale for a month now. Can kindly you issue the block? Thanks. Capitals00 (talk) 15:49, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Saw that you blocked an IP for indef.

Dunno if blocking 92.62.71.236 indef was a mistake, but I just want to ask you because I saw the indef strikethrough and got confused. Toketaatalk 14:57, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I have unblocked them. PhilKnight (talk) 16:20, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Gặp nhau cuối năm indefinite protection

Hi PhilKnight. Can I ask why you protected this indefinitely? That doesn't seem in keeping with WP:PREEMPTIVE. (Please ignore my mistake in changing the settings, I reset it back to indefinite right away, but I still am wondering about it being indefinite.) Thanks. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 08:18, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Daniel, that was a misclick. I have changed the protection to 3 days. Thanks. PhilKnight (talk) 09:13, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the quick fix and response, PhilKnight. Much appreciated. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 09:21, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Allegations of COI

Can you please restore my nomination at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Aquaveo? I see no reason for censoring the information about COI allegations wrt a number of article contributors, especially given our policies on socking. You can leave out the Wikipediocracy link if you prefer. Cheers, — kashmīrī TALK 03:02, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The link to Wikipediocracy is outing, so there's no way I am restoring it. I have restored the text per your request. PhilKnight (talk) 03:18, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Potential block evasion

Hi! I saw that you recently blocked a user by the name of Guy2024 for block evasion. Looks like there's one or two more accounts here.

This user page (by Okidontknowwhatisapeeson) was recently created, mentioning the blocked accounts, plus one unblocked one at Bruhuse.no. Both Guy2024 (here) and the presumably original account RANDOMISEDTOOMUCH (here) commented on that user page. Similar weird English & focus on topics like Mickey Mouse & Elsagate, plus no clear reason the accounts should know the others exist. Schrödinger's jellyfish  17:54, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The checkuser tool confirms they are all related. All blocked and tagged. Thanks. PhilKnight (talk) 18:18, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Multiple IP's

Hello PhilKnight. Not sure if this will help, but I believe you blocked a few IP's that have had edits reverted due to the infobox flag. You must have seen them, they usually have Materialscientist, Yoshi and Escape Orbit reverted multiple times in the history. I'm not good at sending links to people. Maybe I can type IP addresses here and you can see if a block is warranted. Special:Contributions/2.51.9.182, Special:Contributions/2001:8F8:1361:53A3:318D:E62D:E986:AF2F, Special:Contributions/2001:8F8:1361:3DB7:38D3:3880:BA63:23B7,Special:Contributions/2001:8F8:1361:13D:DC1F:35EF:75DD:AF4 and Special:Contributions/2001:8F8:1361:3DB7:3597:3403:23D4:9FD8. This is not ending and multiple addresses continue to be made weekly and/or monthly. You can check my contribution page if that makes it easier. You'll know when you see a bunch of Pakistan related reverts by me. I'm working on cleaning some up now. Thanks for your help. Regards, Bringingthewood (talk) 06:33, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I blocked another range. PhilKnight (talk) 17:19, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, thank you! I hate to bother you with these. Hope you don't mind if I send a link when I see it. I could continue using this message, not to litter your board anymore. Thanks again! Regards, Bringingthewood (talk) 22:15, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I went through the revision of a page they were destroying and found a few more Special:Contributions/2001:8F8:1869:7A6:9494:8B38:B6AB:34F9, Special:Contributions/2400:ADC1:1F0:400:D097:2466:A1DB:8B3C and Special:Contributions/2400:ADC1:1F0:400:940:4FA7:C4D9:AF96. You took care of the rest of that page already. I went back to the beginning of 2024. If they use 2023 IP's, I'll be sure to see them. Thank you once again for all the help. Bringingthewood (talk) 23:29, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Range blocking 2001:8F8:1869:7A6:9494:8B38:B6AB:34F9 would cause too much collateral damage. I range blocked the other 2 IPs. I would recommend stopping there - going in to 2023 would be diminishing returns as they would be stale. Thanks again. PhilKnight (talk) 23:47, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. Yeah, I was getting that overkill feeling, so I stopped. They'll probably find a way again I'm sure. I'll just keep it current. Enjoy your week! Regards, Bringingthewood (talk) 00:05, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Vandal IP range

Hi, can this be added here, the behavioural evidence confirms it [2] [3]. The IP range and the new user has been harassing me in en.wiki and the commons. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 15:33, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, sorry, but IPs are not usually tagged as socks. PhilKnight (talk) 15:12, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ethics Workshop Participation Request

Hi PhilKnight! We're conducting a series of participatory workshops with Wikipedia editors, administrators, researchers, and Wikimedia employees to discuss, and hopefully improve, Wikipedia's structures for online research (see meta research page). In an effort to get the right people in the room to discuss these topics, I'm reaching out here to see if you are interested in participating as an active administrator. We'd work with you to ensure this workshop can fit into your schedule, but are targeting end of April/early May. I'm happy to discuss any of these topics further here or on our talk page. Zentavious (talk) 14:26, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about the tone of it, I do not know why I was in that mood in that moment. I hope no one else read/reads it Hey, and thanks for always keeping watch.

Usually, I leave detailed advice on the talk page but I saw you didn't, which had me wondering, there's nothing identifiable public right now, and maybe they'll not even return. So, maybe it's better to just watchlist and wait and see if something happens again. On the other hand, they may come back when you and I are both not watching and make the same mistakes. — Usedtobecool ☎️ 15:14, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I have watchlisted their user talk page, and will wait to see if they edit again. PhilKnight (talk) 15:18, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! — Usedtobecool ☎️ 16:23, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Contest speedy deletion

You deleted redirect Oil terrorists as an alleged attack page. Mainstream media sources such as [4] have discussed the use of terrorist to describe the activities of that group, so this doesn't meet the threshold of an attack page/redirect. WP:RFD could have been used, but speedy deletion seems incorrect here. Please could you undelete this? Joseph2302 (talk) 16:30, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have undeleted the page. PhilKnight (talk) 16:37, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ask for help

Hi, firstly my english are badly because I'm from Hong kong. Hopefully you don't mind. I want to ask you for help because user Monerals delete some information in United States at the Summer Olympics. His edit behavior same as 89.23.108.177 and 185.42.163.210. I'm not sure nor they're the same person. But I think he did a disruptive edit and ask for your help. Thanks. Stevencocoboy (talk) 03:01, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Steven, I think you need to use the talk page more, and be prepared to ask for a third opinion. I don't think Monerals is a disruptive editor; he seems to be a cting in good faith. PhilKnight (talk) 06:32, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
