Now that I'm done graverobbing... (thanks again - really! Sometimes Wikipedia editing may feel like a thankless task, so every little bit counts, right?)
I was wondering if you would help me in getting rid of the {{notability}} tag from some BLP articles on the D&D WikiProject? We only have 9 at the moment, but if you are willing to take a look for some sources, maybe we can reduce that number a bit?
OK, thanks Paul! I know you looked at some of those before (like Fischer), but sometimes when time passes new sources come about (like with Fischer), so thanks for checking. BOZ (talk) 07:00, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
Hey Paul, I also restored Scott Roller which was (understandably) speedied; let me know if you can find any sources, and if not I will probably move this one to the new draft space to see if other people can find anything. BOZ (talk) 20:33, 20 December 2013 (UTC)
Darn... OK, thanks for checking. I have moved the user drafts to draft space, except for Duncan Harris, whom I was having trouble verifying at all, even within the gaming community... I suspect that one was some sort of vanity article by either a very small press publisher, or someone whose work hasn't even been published at all. If you are up for some more, I found about 10-12 more AFC and deleted pages all told. I searched high and low using every method I could think of, because I wanted to exhaust every possible avenue so that hopefully there won't be any for me to find later. :) I will post more later today. BOZ (talk) 13:15, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
One question - you said previously about S. John Ross that "All I can find is a press release regarding his work on Risus." - do you still have access to that? It may be useful, even if only marginally so. BOZ (talk) 15:55, 22 December 2013 (UTC)
LOL, yes, that is indeed marginal. ;) Sorry for going overboard above... I found more deleted bios even when I said I wasn't looking anymore. ;) BOZ (talk) 23:18, 22 December 2013 (UTC)
Awesome, and thanks. :) I have userfied a number of deleted bios recently, so I may do the same with the above - if so, I will update the links. No rush at all, and Merry Christmas to you. BOZ (talk) 01:29, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
Cam Banks was speedily deleted immediately after creation the other day, but a few of us got it restored; I will add my source today, but if you could add more that would be great. BOZ (talk) 17:06, 4 January 2014 (UTC)
I turned Oliver Jovanovic from a redirect into an article. Sad to say that there may be more on his criminal case than on his time as a game designer, but if you can add anything useful that would help a lot. BOZ (talk) 16:35, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
There are hundreds of articles about the criminal case, but when I search "Oliver Jovanovic" + "RuneQuest" all I find is the New York Times article you already added. Paul Erik(talk)(contribs)03:09, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
Thank you kindly, as always! I genuinely appreciate your efforts. Glad a couple more articles have some sourcing. :) BOZ (talk) 03:44, 16 January 2014 (UTC)
By the way, if you are interested in this sort of information, since I have been keeping track... with your help, since I started in July 2013, I have reviewed 70 biography articles that were deleted or redirected, as well as failed AFC submissions and redirects with no content. 41 of them are now sourced articles, while 29 are in Draft space. Well done, sir, and thank you kindly as always! :) If I were a barnstar-giving kind of person, you would get the biggest one I could find. ;) BOZ (talk) 16:09, 16 January 2014 (UTC)
I have seen a few IP editors posting that Anthony J. Bryant has passed away, but the best I have seen so far is Facebook posts and forums as sources. Can you help me keep an eye on this one, and if possible add any better sources to this one in case what they are saying is true? BOZ (talk) 13:11, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
Chris Eliasen
This one may be a long-shot, but is there anything for Chris Eliasen (aka "E. Christopher Eric")? If you can't find anything, I may move it to Draft space. BOZ (talk) 23:52, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for checking - not the least bit surprised. This one is either "never will be notable" or "too soon to tell". BOZ (talk) 01:12, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
Thanks - not sure if I will just remove the PROD or move to Draft space, but I have a few more days to decide. ;) BOZ (talk) 22:21, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
Awesome!
After successful Requested Moves, Tom Braunlich and Wilf K. Backhaus are articles once more. :) I will note that, in both cases, the number of unanimous supports to restore the articles were the exact same number of votes to delete them at AFD in the first place. ;) BOZ (talk) 16:44, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
Hi, Paul Erik. I titled this thread "back among the living" because I intended to focus on live articles – although in the end, I figure getting the rest of the deleted ones I could find was worthwhile. I intended to do this in two parts; first the few bio articles on the D&D WikiProject with the {{notability}}, and then a larger group with the {{BLPrefimprove}} tag. As it stood, that group was originally 12-15 or so when I started compiling the list. However, between then and now, another user went through all the articles on the D&D WikiProject with AWB, and it turns out a couple dozen more bio articles had just a regular refimprove tag that got switched to BLPrefimprove, which is a little more serious of a tag. So, before I move on with that, I want to know if you are willing to stick with me for just a bit longer. There are far fewer articles in this last group than there were among the 70-ish deleted articles (looks to be somewhere in the mid-40s at my last count) which we just spent half a year(!) going through. Aside from any future articles coming up for deletion, this would be the last thing I would ask for your help with for the forseeable future. I have added my Designers & Dragons source to a few of them already, and will go back over the rest to make sure I have applied it to as many as I can. Let me know if you are in! Thanks for considering. BOZ (talk) 01:40, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for your improvements on Cordell, Caldwell, and McComb. Were you able to find anything for Heard or Drader? BOZ (talk) 16:20, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
It might not hurt? At the very least, you can add citations for which books he wrote,[1] and maybe those reviews could bolster some of the articles we may have on the books themselves. I suspect the reviews were for work on Dragonlance, or maybe some of the other books he wrote with Margaret Weis (ex-wife). BOZ (talk) 23:38, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
I'll get back to you on that. I need to look them up one by one, as "Don Perrin" gets a lot of irrelevant hits, too many to sort through; that's part of what stalled me here. Paul Erik(talk)(contribs)20:20, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
Great work on Perrin, and Edo van Belkom is definitely in better shape. :) Did you find anything for Noonan or Bergstrom? BOZ (talk) 15:19, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
LOL, OK, I'm impressed! Looks like there is a lot for him. Keep going, take your time, I will stand back and let you do your thing. ;) BOZ (talk) 16:14, 2 May 2014 (UTC)
Awesome, Bergstrom is a lot better now! But Van Belkom... if I had a "most improved" award, you would get it for that one! Back before you started, this article hardly had anything going for it, but after a ton of expansion on your part, it is looking quite fantastic! Kudos to you! It turns out we had a very solidly notable author with hardly any sources to show for it. :) BOZ (talk) 04:10, 15 May 2014 (UTC)
You're welcome, BOZ. (You might not be aware, there's no need to add a link to my user name to ping me, as I get pinged anyway when it is my own talk page.) I added a couple of sources to the Ron Spencer article back in 2010, and am unable to find anything new for that now. I also can't find anything for the others. Paul Erik(talk)(contribs)01:57, 3 November 2014 (UTC)
Ah, you're right - just didn't want it to get lost in among the other pings. No worries, I will keep that in mind. :) Thanks for checking these!
If I had known this list would turn into a year-long project, I wouldn't have asked you to go through with it, but since you stuck with me through it to the end I don't regret it. :) Anyway, this is a good way to end the year, and hopefully in the future you would be willing to look at singletons or small handfuls of items as they come up. For the last batch on this list, I have Todd Lockwood, Trampas Whiteman, Victor Milan, and Vincent Dutrait; also, Jon Pickens was tagged while you were on the last batch. Any time you can get to these, let's get it over with. :) BOZ (talk) 15:17, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
I added some sources for Lockwood in 2010; can't find anything else now. Similar for Milan in 2012; nothing new. I can't find anything for Whiteman nor Dutrait, and just one for Pickens. The end! Paul Erik(talk)(contribs)01:50, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
Hey Paul, Aaron Allston has passed away. He was a fairly big deal, so there is probably a lot out there for him - anything you could add would be greatly appreciated by more people than just me. BOZ (talk) 12:58, 28 February 2014 (UTC)
That Austin American-Statesman article was the only one I could find that discussed him in any detail. I was able to deal with some of the {citation-needed} tags, anyway. Paul Erik(talk)(contribs)21:08, 28 February 2014 (UTC)
Thanks, that does help. :) You know, people often copy things from Wikipedia when writing obituaries, so I feel it is important to be as accurate and well sourced as possible on people who have recently died. BOZ (talk) 18:57, 2 March 2014 (UTC)
Ah, no worries - that article is not in any danger, but you know I like to get the articles of the recently departed into the best possible shape, just because. :) BOZ (talk) 00:21, 29 March 2014 (UTC)
Sean K. Reynolds
Hey Paul, could you please check out Sean K. Reynolds and see what you can do for his article? I am a little worried about this one now that it is at Requested moves - it just got a notability tag added to it, and it was unsuccessfully PRODded years ago without being really improved. BOZ (talk) 11:52, 18 April 2014 (UTC)
Hey Paul, just wondering if you've got something for Cathryn Mataga (most likely credited as William Mataga)? You found a little bit a few years ago, just wondering if you could pull another rabbit out of your hat. ;) BOZ (talk) 17:18, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
I asked you to search on Emily Care Boss over a year ago and there was nothing at the time - would you be able to check again, to see if anything new came up for her or any of her games? Thanks! BOZ (talk) 17:44, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
I've got another nagging Canadian music mystery for you. Doubt you'll have any more luck than I did, but it can't hurt to get some more eyes on it anyway.
In the process of reffing up Alta Moda, I discovered a factoid I never knew before, namely that they placed a song called "American Chaser" in the soundtrack to Popeye Doyle, a 1986 television film starring Ed O'Neill. The song isn't on their self-titled album, but as undoubtedly you already know, Alta Moda transmogrified into Infidels in 1990 — and this is where the challenge comes in. Fast forward to the Infidels album, and there's a song called "Hold Me Tight". Sample lyric: "strong steel/big wheel...American chaser".
So, natch, my question is whether it's the same song under a different title, or just a turn of phrase they reused in an otherwise different song. The most obvious place to answer that would be to track down a copy of the movie, obviously, but that's not proving to be the easiest thing in the world to do. Any insight or leads? Bearcat (talk) 08:29, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
Bearcat one day you'll have to write a Canadian music trivia game; you come up with the best mysteries. I've been doing my darnedest to research this one, but sorry to say I have found no leads whatsoever. (I can't believe I just spent 16 minutes watching this. Looks like a pretty bad movie.) Paul Erik(talk)(contribs)00:47, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, I found the same clip. I couldn't bear to just sit there watching it straight, though, so I kinda ffwded my way through it a few times. My condolences for your not having done the same. Seriously, though, how do I stumble into these things? Bearcat (talk) 00:49, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
question
how do i block someone? im trying to block you and cant figure out how to?

Thanks for your note about the petition. I honestly didn't know there was a discussion going on about this on the talk page. In any case, I stand corrected. Let the discussion take its due course. My edits are now reversed. werldwayd (talk) 07:03, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
'Irish-born British' has not been used before. It is made up by Editors. He should have been described the same way as Yeats, Stoker, Wilde etc.
The onus should have been on those who wish to use this term, to prove it. Why has the onus been reversed? That Bacon was born in Ireland is a stipulated fact.
To claim his nationality as being British, means you have to alter every single person born in Ireland pre-1922, to being British(irish-born British, irish-born Irish???)
Born in Ireland and described as Anglo-Irish, 'ad infinitum' by sources. I have never seen this disputed until I came to wikipedia.
Will all future articles be decided by the nationality of the editors?
This should have been straight forward. All the editors had to do was stick to the objective facts.
1. Born in Ireland. The reader can then make a subjective judgement, from there.
2. The only subjective leeway allowable would be to call him, an 'Irish Painter' or 'Anglo-Irish Painter'. You did not have come across in the 17th Century to use this term. It is used for Southern Irish Protestant class.
The contribution of Protestants or Anglo-Irish is immense(I am biased in this and even then I would have no problem leaving him as 'Irish painter'.) The Anglo-Irish have added a richness to this island and are regarded as some of the greatest Irishmen/women. The coming generations from all over the world will do the same. To allow narrow minded individuals(Irish and British) to describe these people, as non Irish or 'Irish-born Chinese', Irish-born Polish' indicates 'blow-ins' who are not really Irish. (my subjective opinion.)" This is disgusting for an encyclopedia.
Anglo-Irish is used the same way as Irish-American is used. Not American-born Irish.
As per my original objection in the talk pages, after the 'ad infinitum(and therefore right, as three men make a tiger) took place:
"He was born in Ireland, even the complication of the six counties does not come into it. The free state or Republic is a red herring. Do you mean to suggest that everyone born on the island of Ireland, before 1922 were British? He is Irish. The vast majority of the nation has Norman, Celtic and Anglo-Saxon blood(and thankfully more cultures are added in recent times) who are all Irish(nationality), regardless of race. The fact that he was born in Ireland is a fact. Why has the onus of whether he was British or Irish defaulted to 'prove he is Irish'? This is appallingly biased editing. This logic would mean, anyone, whose parents were not of the nationality, of the geographical location of said person's birthplace, would have their nationality stripped. This smacks of the most perverse racism. A child with Irish parents, born in America, is American. Is there a standing count for how many years you must live in a country after you are born, to be stripped? How has this got past the Editors? Racist nationals could not have done a better job. Rabid Irish nationals baulked at the suggestion that Britain's greatest General was Irish. Daniel O'Connell saying "Just because one is born in a stable..." This suited British nationalists as well so the phrase was put in the Duke's mouth. Born in Ireland. Irish Painter. >This is objective fact. Everything else is subjective and should not be tolerated in a publication that claims to be an encyclopedia or are the facts reduced to the nationality of the editors? Those of 'consensus' opinion are going to be busy, modifying every Irish persons wikipedia entry who were born pre 1922. How many generations are you going to go back? Perhaps the Norman members of Ireland(i.e everyone) should be changed to Irish born-French." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.47.9.204 (talk) 16:41, 16 February 2014 (UTC)
Hello, and thanks for the additional explanation of your edits to the article Francis Bacon (artist). I don't have an opinion as to how the article ought to describe Bacon's nationality. I appreciate that it might appear that I have an opinion because I protected the article from editing by new or unregistered editors, and the version that I protected states "Irish-born British" but I would be fine with a different description if that were the consensus found through a new discussion on the talk page. For better or for worse, Wikipedia works through a consensus model—please read Wikipedia:Consensus if you have not done so already—and that might occasionally make some articles prone to some nationalistically biased editing by a small vocal few, but we hope that over the long run these things settle into something neutral. To repeat, I do not have an opinion as to the best way to describe Bacon's nationality, and I'm not involving myself in the discussion, which would need to take place at Talk:Francis Bacon (artist). Cristin Milioti
Hi Paul...
I think/hope I just figured out how to respond to the email you sent to me regarding what was my source regarding Cristin Milioti descent.
My source is Cristin herself when she stated on the David Letterman show that she was in fact Italian...the Olive Garden variety. I also have heard her say she was Italian on Conan. I hope this is sufficient to reinstate my earlier edit.
Okay, thanks for that. I know it can be difficult for new people to navigate user talk pages here. (By the way, I didn't email you, I simply left you messages on your talk pages here. See here and here. You could have replied there and I would have seen your message.) To cite the information (see Help:Referencing for beginners), we would need to cite the specific TV episode, ideally the episode number and the date it aired. Regards, Paul Erik(talk)(contribs)20:55, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
I note that Z Berg (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) is now a perfectly decent short article with several respectable sources. Thank you for this. When article subjects email OTRS, we always tell them that in case of future problems they should ask for help at WP:BLPN. Speedy action such as yours reinforces my confidence in that advice. I appreciate it greatly. Guy (Help!) 10:18, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
thanks for blocking the tigs.edu.au ip, for your information i heard students discussing their vandalism in class so i was able to revert their vandalism and report the ip. thanks - Retartist (talk) 03:04, 25 February 2014 (UTC)
I think we might be seeing the invasion of 'involved' editors on this article. Meaning Stintz staff and campaign opponents. I wonder if semi-protection might be a good idea? If my guess is right, I think the article will only become a place for edit wars. Alaney2k (talk) 16:35, 1 March 2014 (UTC)
it hasn't been edited in a couple of days now, but yes let's keep an eye on things there, as there seems to have been non-NPOV issues coming from both "sides". Thanks Alaney2K. Paul Erik(talk)(contribs)22:32, 2 March 2014 (UTC)

Hi, I just want to report that Club 37 reverted my report on him in WP:RVAN. I am going offline soon and I expect he will revert my report again. He has made disruptive edits on nearly a hundred user talk pages (and counting) and didn't stop after numerous warnings. Thanks. BigCat82 (talk) 20:56, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
Hi Paul, thank you very much for your support in this edit war. I put so much energy and research in this genius young politician that would really regret if the article fails. Meanwhile the article has been expanded and improved by a lot of significant facts. No reaction of you??? I've just found an article about Leo Bureau-Blouin, 20, student leader in Quebec, in National Post and also a Wiki-article is dedicated to him, although a very poor and even a stub. In this case nobody has requested deletion! What a mass, how arbitrarily Wiki-rules are treated by the Wiki-teams. --Stonepillar (talk) 22:21, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
Shall I react to your declaration that the article Léo Bureau-Blouin, which I wrote, is "very poor"? Paul Erik(talk)(contribs) 23:02, 24 March 2014 (UTC) Sorry, I didn't realize this. But you shouldn't leave your article a "stub", but expanding it. Admit: the French version is better. I myself only expected you supporting my article in the crazy discussion again.--[(talk) 06:38, 25 March 2014 (UTC)--Stonepillar (talk) 07:06, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
On 11 April 2014, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article Jim Flaherty, which you substantially updated. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page.
Over the past few weeks, a user (frankly I suspect the topic himself) has repeatedly tried to overwrite Leslie Howe with an unsourced and uncategorized version which is very clearly structured and written as a promotional advertisement rather than an encyclopedia article. I've reverted it each time, but he keeps trying again, so I wanted to ask if you'd be willing to help review that other version to see if there's anything in it that's worth actually integrating into the article. I've posted his version to the talk page for discussion and review. Thanks. Bearcat (talk) 21:24, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
This little bastard is getting more creative in his vandalism, putting references in for the Cory Monteith "role" in the Spider-Man film by linking to a completely falsely-titled article name. He is a major headache. Thank you for catching him! I've got to start digging again. Joy ;P Doctalk02:28, 2 May 2014 (UTC)
His brand of vandalism is just insidious and egregious, and seeing his newer tactics puts a lump in my throat. It's the first time I've seen him do that with a source, and I shudder to think what else he has done. He is a truly incorrigible vandal, and I hope I can trace his activity over the last several months. Thanks again :) Doctalk02:52, 2 May 2014 (UTC)
Hi. It took me a minute to figure it out, but I see you have semi'd the Arbcom noticeboard. I'm not here to complain, I just have a question. Shouldn't the little grey lock go on the page? Does that not just show up automatically or do you have to add it yourself? 204.101.237.139 (talk) 20:31, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
Ah, you're right; it appears someone does need to add that. (I've added it just now.) There's a bot that removes it when the protection expires. Thanks. Paul Erik(talk)(contribs)21:43, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
Hi Paul. Tx for your note -- no need to contact me on removal of speedy notifications. The articles are watchlisted, so I will see the actions, and that would just be more needless effort.
Also, I think I've been clear on this, but just a comment away from the fray ... I think you do great work.
Also, as you probably noticed from my post at the general discussion, the creator of a huge chunk of those articles has said he is fine with such articles being deleted. Thus, they would also qualify for deletion I would think under our "creator OKs it" speedy rules.
But that being said, I don't think that should stop you (or anyone) from if they can evidencing the appropriate level of significance by, for example, as you do ... providing GNG-supporting refs. And if supplied, I don't think anyone would at all be against the article remaining.
If you like, btw, you can take a look at some of our festival stubs ... if there are remaining cases that are a problem, they are likely largely there. If you like, you could glance at fixing some before they are speedied (your call).
Also, if you want to consider festivals that perhaps do not all have wp articles, to consider whether they warrant them and you perhaps wish to create them, some (largely non-RS, but a starting point) lists you may wish to consider checking are here, and here, here, and here, and here, and here. I'm guessing that they may contain some festivals that are more significant than some that are at issue.
And thanks for your helpful (and correct) copyedit edits on the article I just created moments ago, Musical Mutual Protective Union. Is this coincidence, or do I have a (friendly?) stalker?
Re Musical Mutual Protective Union, You have a friendly stalker! (only because someone had added a message to your talk page just as I was adding one, and I was interested in the article)
Thanks for your note about the festivals. My own approach is to look for sources before deleting an article; I did see your note about the creator of a huge chunk of these articles and that does help with the context I had not been aware of; thanks. Paul Erik(talk)(contribs)03:19, 10 June 2014 (UTC)
Whew. Thanks for the context. It always catches my attention if I have a difference of view, even with an exceedingly proper editor such as you, and they turn up at some obscure article I just edited (as here). So thanks for explaining it--makes perfect sense. And your edits were helpful, as I said. As to the creator of the huge chunk of these articles saying "please feel free to delete them," I wasn't certain whether you had seen that discussion; I should have flagged it earlier in the general discussion, but it was still helpful so as not to confuse the general issue with his particular issue (even if half the articles are his). BTW -- I haven't (though he it appears wouldn't mind) looked specifically at his article creations; it's just that his articles are a high percentage of the festival articles that don't reflect significance, and as he points out nobody in 7 years fleshed them out any further, which might have gone towards apparent significance. But as you expressed concern as to the older articles, it's an interesting point he makes ... one could legitimately be more concerned with an older article never having been improved to the point that it reflects significance, than with an article created today. Best. Epeefleche (talk) 03:29, 10 June 2014 (UTC)
No action needed, but I've been trying to work on reffing up Leslie Howe properly, and came across this quote that I just had to share with someone who'd appreciate it.

I'm curious about this edit. As I read Wikipedia:TENANTS, lists of tenants in malls are inappropriate for this article. Also, I am unable to access the cited articles in the Timins Daily Press. You did not include URLs pointing directly to the articles, and searches at http://www.timminspress.com/ for the article titles fail to find anything. -- RoySmith(talk)14:11, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
Hi Roy. I did not restore the full list that you had removed. I thought I was following the guidance at WP:TENANTS, namely the part that states, "Given their prominence within the shopping center and the role they play in drawing customers, it may be appropriate to mention the anchor stores in an article, as long as such stores are identified as anchors in a reliable source and the source is appropriately referenced." The sources do seem to cover the changes in anchor tenants as they are important to the region's economic activity and are also related to some of the large expansions of the shopping centre. I did not include URLs for the ones that are not available online. Paul Erik(talk)(contribs)14:35, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
The use of references which are not available on line (I assume they're behind a paywall) is troubling. I'm not blaming you; if they're not available, there's little that can be done about that. And I know it's policy that references don't have to be available on-line, but it still makes it difficult to evaluate. Thank you for your reply. -- RoySmith(talk)15:34, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
Roy - I don't read Paul as saying they are behind a paywall (and knowing Paul to be especially careful in refs, would have assumed he would have indicated as much if that were the case). Paul may be of the view that they are not available on-line, paywall or otherwise, and only in paper form. --Epeefleche (talk) 16:11, 23 June 2014 (UTC)

You recently flagged a page we created for speedy deletion and we were hoping you could provide some clarity as to the exact reasons why this was removed. Regarding the copyright issue with http://www.childrenshospital.org/research-and-innovation/research-labs/laboratories-of-cognitive-neuroscience we created that material for our lab website and it belongs to us. Is there some way that we can cite that so we can use it on wikipedia? Regarding the blatant advertising we were somewhat confused as to why exactly this was flagged? If you need us to re-send you the page please let us know.
Regarding the "blatant advertising", that was probably too harsh, however the way the material was presented, it contained a lot of turns of phrase that are sometimes called "puffery" (vague, positive claims rather than a more neutral stating of the facts; see WP:FLOWERY) as well as long lists that give more the appearance of a CV than an encyclopedia article.
A further problem is that if you are associated with the subject you write about, most Wikipedia editors consider that a conflict of interest, and ask that you not write the article yourselves. Please see the material at WP:BFAQ#EDIT as well as other potentially helpful sections of that page. A lot of what's at WP:BFAQ#COMPANY probably also applies to a person you work with, and not just a company you work for.
Thank you for the information--that is very helpful. Do you think if I a) remove the flowery language and take a more encyclopedic tone and b) rewrite the content to avoid copy write issues, will that be sufficient to get this page published?
I think it would be sufficient, assuming that Professor Nelson meets the notability threshold identified at WP:ACADEMIC, which does appear to be the case. Again, I would suggest it would be best to be upfront with any conflict of interest. Regards, Paul Erik(talk)(contribs)16:31, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
What is the best way to upload the new content? (Can I do it without creating a new page or updating the old one?) Wikipedia said to contact you before uploading anything new.
Thank you for the advice and starting a wiki page for him. I really appreciate it! I have added the cleaned-up version I put together on Talk:Charles A. Nelson III. The work around neglect is one portion of what Dr. Nelson does in the lab but he also does a great deal of autism research and also in typical brain development. We really want a complete description of his work being done. If it is helpful to look at more articles we have them listed on our website [6]
Hi Paul, I understand the nature of edit warring but it looks as though you gave no such warning to Light Show about his/her consistent changes to his/her approved version on the Joan Rivers page. Why the bias to just myself? Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kingslove2013 (talk • contribs) 19:34, 6 September 2014 (UTC)
About this diff, Dayhaps isn't a software, but a website, where people can host calendars. As such, isn't it eligible for A7 speedy delete, even if the article is written from a misleading software point of view? --Dereckson (talk) 16:26, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
Hi Dereckson. Websites do fall within A7, and to be honest I was a little more unsure than my edit summary suggests about categorizing this as software. But my reading of "free online calendar platform for web, android, iphone and ipad" made me lean more towards seeing it as software than as a website. Thanks for adding the Prod to the article. Paul Erik(talk)(contribs)19:27, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
On 4 October 2014, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article Jean-Claude Duvalier, which you substantially updated. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page.
Hi, I see all the good job you do on Wikipedia and respect your work. I just wanted to speak out about a user called Romeo J Miller, who is going around adding his name to Wikipedia pages of many songs and adding his name as a producer or writer. This guy is also on facebook claiming to be a Sony Music producer and promising people auditions. These are the username's he uses on Wikipedia. Ampaduh_genevieve & Andreharrell
The editor does indeed appear to be adding false song credits to multiple articles, and switching accounts to evade scrutiny. I have blocked both accounts and reverted their edits. Thanks for the alert. Paul Erik(talk)(contribs)22:29, 18 October 2014 (UTC)
Paul McCartney
Hi Paul,
My late mother ( Liz Danher) was Paul mcCartneys first cousin.
I was just taking a look at your contributions on Wikipedia about Paul McCartney and just wanted to pass on a correction that I felt is important to mention- his mother Mary ( nee Mohin) didn't die of an embolism. She died of breast cancer.
Hi Paul, I'm writing to you as it seems to me you are keeping an eye on the WhatsApp english page. I'd like to ask you explanation about the activity of the user "Uncletomwood", who reverted my changes twice in a row without a word of explanation. I find such behavior highly suspicious to be mild, and I'd like someone more experience to verify such activity. Thank you! --Paolosampras (talk) 09:40, 20 October 2014 (UTC)
Hello Paolosampras. I'm actually not keeping an eye on that page; I made just one minor edit to the article.
Are you familiar with the Wikipedia:BOLD, revert, discuss cycle? If I understand correctly what has happened, you've made a bold edit, Uncletomwood reverted you (the lack of explanation is not ideal, but it is also not all that unusual), so the next step would be for you to open a discussion on Talk:WhatsApp to allow a consensus of interested editors to form. If the consensus results in favour of your proposed change, the change could be re-added to the article at that point. Regards, Paul Erik(talk)(contribs)13:42, 20 October 2014 (UTC)
Keefus - Copyright info
Paul,
In regards to what you pulled off the wiki page for Keefus it appears that the website Slimspresents copied it from Keefus' wikipedia page. I can't prove anything but does this mean that every time someone copies a wiki page then the wiki page needs to come down? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.166.59.164 (talk)
No, if it's clear that another source copied it from Wikipedia, then it would not have to be removed from Wikipedia. One of the problems here is that the Slimspresents website is not archived at webarchive.org (see here) so it is not immediately obvious whether it was first written there or first written on Wikipedia. Paul Erik(talk)(contribs)05:53, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
Thanks! :) I don't think I ever asked if you were an American, but if you celebrate it have a great Thanksgiving. :) BOZ (talk) 16:26, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
Hey Paul, one more. The notability tag was added to Christopher Shy yesterday; I previously added a source to this one, but I was wondering if you had any more to add. BOZ (talk) 15:04, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
You found one source for this one last month, but that was not enough to stop him from getting sent to AFD (with an invalid rationale, I would argue) - could you please double check to see if there is anything else at all? BOZ (talk) 13:05, 17 December 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for checking. What does it say about him, just that he was at that year's Gen Con, and he had worked on TSR's "historical designs"? :) BOZ (talk) 02:13, 18 December 2014 (UTC)
Yes, it says, "GEN CON attracts some of the top historical game designers in the country" and mentions a couple of people before Pickens, stating he "has worked on most of the company's historical designs." Paul Erik(talk)(contribs)02:18, 18 December 2014 (UTC)
Merry Christmas!
BOZ (talk) is wishing you a MerryChristmas! This greeting (and season) promotes WikiLove and hopefully this note has made your day a little better. Spread the WikiLove by wishing another user a Merry Christmas, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past, a good friend, or just some random person. Don't eat yellow snow!
Spread the holiday cheer by adding {{subst:User:Flaming/MC2008}} to their talk page with a friendly message.
I'm wishing you a Merry Christmas, because that is what I celebrate. If you don't like Christmas or just don't celebrate it in any of its forms, then please accept a generic "Happy Holidays". If you celebrate no holidays at this time of year, then hopefully you will be satisfied with an even more generic "Season's Greetings". :)
Hi, Paul. A notability tag was placed on Gav Thorpe's article; would you have any sources to supplement this one? BOZ (talk) 15:26, 26 December 2014 (UTC)
Thanks, that might work better. I looked on HighBeam, for example, and found nothing for him under "Gavin" but a few hits under "Gav" so who knows. :) BOZ (talk) 18:07, 30 December 2014 (UTC)
Hi there,
It has been brought to my attention that a information page for songwriter Romeo Miller was deleted by yourself a short while ago. I believe it was deleted due to there being a lack of sources cited in the article. I would very much like to produced a factual article about Romeo Miller as an addition to Wikipedia however am concerned it may be pulled down again. I felt I would leave this message first to inform you that my article will be cited with sources to confirm all information that is in the article. I would like to add that I am fairly new to producing articles on wikipedia itself, so if there is something that I miss please do not hesitate to point me in the right direction. Thanks! MsRhiney-James (talk) 04:20, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
No I am not the same person. I am an employee of Sony Music UK and my colleague has previously created a page for Romeo Miller which you removed. I have cited the page with the official website with all the information and copyrights on there. I have also cited a website that Romeo was featured on recently. Those are two reliable sources. If you need more then tell me instead of simply deleting. Thank you MsRhiney-James (talk) 22:28, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
User:MsRhiney-James, The sources cited in the article are not reliable sources; they are user-generated content, from what I am able to see. Please refer to Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources for examples and explanations of what are acceptable. If this Romeo J Miller is as successful a songwriter as the article seems to suggest, there will be some third-party sources such as newspapers or magazines that will have written something about him. Please also understand that Wikipedia is not to be used for promotional purposes, especially for those that have a conflict of interest (see WP:BFAQ#EDIT). Paul Erik(talk)(contribs)22:41, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
Furthermore, Romeo J Miller is not credited as a producer or songwriter on any of the hits he has supposedly "produced and written for" according to the article you created. Paul Erik(talk)(contribs)22:56, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
We are not using Wikipedia for promotional purposes. It is a factual page about a music producer. The official website for the producer is ran by Sony Music UK and is clearly Copyrighted on there. It isn't user generated. The website the producer was featured on is a company that features musicians and artists. I'm not sure why you think t hey are user generated but I would respectfully request that you do not take down the page and give it a chance. Thank you. MsRhiney-James (talk) 23:01, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
User:MsRhiney-James, There is no information about this artist on the Sony Music website, nor anything about his label here. The "official website" is something that anyone can create after registering a domain. The indienoationblog can be user-generated by filling in this form. You have provided no reliable sources at all, for a producer and songwriter who has not been credited on the hits he has supposedly "produced and written for". When I do my own search, I can find no evidence that this artist meets either WP:N notability guidelines, or even WP:V verifiability. Paul Erik(talk)(contribs)23:27, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
If you read the website it says the label hasnt been launched yet, hence why it is not appearing in the list of already established labels on the website for Sony Music UK. I have seen other pages for music producers created on Wikipedia whereby the source is their Official website, so I am not sure as to why this producers page keeps being pulled down. MsRhiney-James (talk) 23:33, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
Why is he not credited as a producer or songwriter on any of the hits he has supposedly "produced and written for"?
Hi there,
I am not sure why you feel the links are dubious, they are searchable links on Google that anyone can look up. They are other sources other than myself and my colleagues. I would like to request that the message at the top of the page is taken down as a hoax. I have not taken it off myself as I do not want to break any rules however I do respectfully request it be removed. Thank you MsRhiney-James (talk) 00:47, 30 December 2014 (UTC)
They appear dubious because it is not apparent if any of them meet the required standards of editorial oversight and have a reputation for proper fact-checking and so on. But this should not be for me to decide by myself. I will initiate a discussion that involves other established Wikipedia editors. You will be able to participate as well, although please do identify yourself as someone who works for Sony Music UK. Thank you, Paul Erik(talk)(contribs)01:03, 30 December 2014 (UTC)
Lots of activity lately! I added a source to this article very shortly after it was created, but it has been PRODded. Is there anything else you can add to it to make it more viable? BOZ (talk) 13:00, 31 December 2014 (UTC)
I have been trying to work out how to reposition citations from the bottom of Talk pages for months. Thank you for your recent edit! Regards,--Soulparadox (talk) 04:06, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
I'm kind of surprised by that one. Thanks for checking though - I'm sure something will turn up sooner or later. BOZ (talk) 03:09, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
Unconstructive edit???
You sent me a message saying that my edit on the page Mojo was unconstructive. I think that's ridiculous, because that edit was completely true information and was also completely unbiased. Please explain to me why that was "unconstructive". I also ask that you please add the part I added back on Mojo. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:CCE8:CE00:1182:408B:311E:E62D (talk) 01:50, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
"Unconstructive" might have been a poor way to phrase it; sorry about that. You added the entry "Mojo Hill" to the disambiguation page Mojo, but Wikipedia does not have an article about a person named Mojo Hill. (Is an article about this person notable enough for inclusion in an encyclopedia? That does not appear to be the case, but I might be mistaken.) Disambiguation pages are to help readers navigate to existing Wikipedia articles. There is also some further explanation at Wikipedia:Write the article first. Thanks for your understanding, Paul Erik(talk)(contribs)02:41, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
I hope you will not mind that I simply blank this rather than striking through it. I somehow reverted your edit reverting vandalism to my talk page. I may not have been quick enough or perhaps changed the page on Huggle inadvertently. In any event, I am very sorry for making this mistake and leaving the automated message on your talk page. Thank you for watching out for my talk page. Donner60 (talk) 00:28, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
Hi, Paul! I found a source that talks about Paul Randles a little bit. I am considering restoring this one as a draft, but before I do that I was curious to see if you have any sources that could be added. BOZ (talk) 16:13, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
