ArbCom 2017 election voter message

Hello, Padillah. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Caught by a colocation web host block but this host or IP is not a web host. My IP address is _(I have no earthly idea)_. This is a corporate IP, I can provide details privately if necessary. While it's true I can provide the IP address I currently appear to be using, the ISP we use has a scheme that allows for the outside IP to change as needed. While I currently see 104.129.194.197 in Whatismyip.com that may not hold for too much longer. I believe we are allowed any IP in the following ranges (104.129.194.0/23, 165.225.34.0/23, 160.109.104.0/24, 148.9.24.0/24). This is what prompted the response _I have no earthly idea_, because whatever IP I give may be invalid by the time it's reviewed. Oh well, I tried. 104.129.194.197 is part of the zscaler "cloud security" company, and serves as an open proxy. You'll need to disable that if you wish to edit here. Note that doing so may have other consequences. --Yamla (talk) 12:19, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
There's no way a multi-billion dollar company is going to disable its IP forwarding rules so I can edit WP. It used to be that only anonymous IPs were blocked like this, not credentialed users. Thanks for trying though. Padillah (talk) 12:23, 27 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe too late, but... you're a computer programmer, surely you can set up a SSH connection to your own modem (or router behind it) from your home ISP and edit through a SOCKS proxy from an IP from your home provider. tgeorgescu (talk) 07:37, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
