Email

Thanks for the note by email. In general, people should not add links to their own sites to any article. Ideally, editors should not have any other interest in a topic to be concerned with, other than writing an encyclopedia. Thanks for the tip on the Energy drink article; indeed the external links had gotten out of hand, as I noted on the talk page. I have removed most of the reviews and blogs.

I saw your question on User_talk:Deli nk and his response there. Her/his suggestion of putting the link on the talk page first is one option, however I am not sure that it is the best solution. In many cases, there will be no discussion on the talk page, but the link will be removed when it is added to the article. In some cases, the link may even be removed from the talk page (since talk page spamming to boost Google ranking has been a problem as well).

The best (although not usually the best to hear) advice is to build a great site, which other people will find is so useful that they will add it. I have taken the liberty of adding a boilerplate welcome message below, since it has some useful links. By all means, feel free to contact me if I can help with anything as well. Thanks for the info on some of the Guidelines. I am however still a little confused. I did see that you removed some of the blog links within the energy category. Yet you told me to create a great site in hopes that some one might add it. If I strive at creating a great site and someone does add it later down the line, what is going to stop some random editor from taking the external link off. Even if my site is not on there, some of those external links would be very useful to the end user. To sum up, how do you know that the sites you removed in the external link section where not put there by people that found those sites useful.

There is no policy or guideline that can, in black and white terms, determine the relevance of an external link for an article. This determination is usually left up to the editors. A broad guidline is at WP:EL. Notably, simply because a link covers the same topic as an article does not require it be linked. My own view is that links should be used sparingly; in most cases, there are so many sites on the web we can afford to be picky. Large collections of external links in an article hinders locating information. In the case of energy drinks, google returns 12,900 sites linked with the phrase Energy drink reviews. Unless there is one or two that stand out (like imdb for movie reviews, for instance), I would just as soon folks find their links via Google. So there are no objective rules to determine when a link is relevant; it is up to individual editors of articles. Sometimes editors may disagree. There is nothing stopping a random editor from removing a link, other than other editors who would decide to put it back in because they thought it was useful. I have yet to get any response back as to why the page Glovia Services was deleted before I even finished making it. I posted my question on Rackabello's talk page but have yet to receive a response. Users might not reply instantly because they aren't online; as well as Rackabello, who tagged it for deletion, you might also want to ask The Rambling Man, the administrator who carried out the deletion. Common reasons why a page might appear to be promotional include the use of promotional rather than encyclopedic language, and a lack of sources for the article indepenfent of the company itself (for instance, newspaper articles about the company); see the notability guidelines for articles about companies. --ais523 13:51, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Glovia Services Inc

Hello Oshburg, and thanks for your note. The reason your article was delted is as ais523 notes above. Rackabello tagged it as WP:CSD#G11 which is known as blatant advertising. I agreed and deleted the article. Once again, as per the advice of ais523, the article failed to comply with WP:CORP and so was susceptible to this kind of action. If you can provide encyclopaedic evidence that the company is notable then the article will not suffer the same fate. Recreation of the article with such is by no means prohibited but it would be a good idea to add the relevant reliable sources to verify your claim of notability to avoid the article being deleted once again. Better job this time, it still sounds a bit like an advert and all the features of GSInnovate probably (in fact, definitely) shouldn't be listed out that way. I'd prune it right back to information pertaining to the company predominantly rather than specific functions of specific applications developed by the company. I tried to contribute another article to Wikipedia. I followed all the guidelines you suggested in the last discussion we had. However, the article was deleted as it was noted as blatant advertising. I don't understand why this happened. I wrote an article on one of my favorite energy drinks, 5 Hour Energy. 5-Hour Energy

Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article 5-Hour Energy, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. SKYSHAPERS Foundation

Hi Oshburg! Right now SKYSHAPERS Foundation reads like a press release. There is plenty of good info in there though and citations. One thing you might try is reducing the size of the massive logo.
