Some time ago I left messages on your talk page re: Joanne Etheridge's wikipedia page that you created. As yet I have had no reply. For your information I have attached my original messages below:
Hi, Responding to your recent communication about the above subject. My editing of that page (that you created) was in response to a personal request from Joanne Etheridge. I do not work for Joanne Etheridge but was a part of her team at Monash for 7 years. Her concern with the page that you created was that is contained several factual errors or omissions and that the publications list that you included did not reflect, what she considered, the most important publications in her professional career. I notice that you also had issues with the infobox photo that I added - this again was provide by Joanne. As you commented, this was my first foray into Wikipedia editing and I would be happy if it is my last. Would it be possible for you to include some of the amendments that Joanne suggested that would reflect more accurately her professional career? would be happy to provide these for you. Thanks David
Hi, I informed Joanne Etheridge this morning that you have reinstated your original version of her Wikipedia page. Her response to me is below:
Hi David,
This is very frustrating and what a waste of your time! The most annoying thing is that their version is riddled with errors! I never moved to Ontario! I have just this moment given a talk in Germany and the person who introduced me said I had spent 3 years in Canada! They must have got this from wiki! These errors propagate rapidly! If you are in touch with Oronsay can you point out the urgency and the need to be accurate or delete it altogether! What a weird world we live in! Thanks again for all your efforts. I am sorry this has been in vein!
Cheers,
Jo.
Would you please consider amending (or deleting) Joanne's Wikipedia page.
Dunamis44, I have this morning reinstated the full list of publications you had uploaded which is, in my opinion, far too long, particularly since her pubs may be accessed via the Scholia template on the page. A subsequent editor may prune them back. The articles are listed in chronological order per MOS:LISTSOFWORKS. I hope that this, together with other changes that have been made by others, is sufficient.
If, however, further changes are sought, the request should be made on the [Talk:Joanne_Etheridge] page, accompanied by the relevant reference(s).
I should point out that my earlier reversion included the removal of a significant amount of text that had been copied and pasted from one of Joanne's bios and appears identically on several web pages. All material in Wikipedia is required to be original so when editing we paraphrase, and not too closely paraphrase, what exists elsewhere. Obviously, position titles, organisations and so forth are OK, as are short direct quotations (with references) and material that a website specifies has been released for public use, provided such release is quoted.--Oronsay (talk) 22:56, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
