Thebenfather Vandalism

Be kind to User:Thebenfather in regards to his recent vandalism on my user page. I know him in real life, so he's not just harassing random people. jpez 03:15, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Gary Kirk's RfA

(copied from my talk page): Hello! Thanks a lot! I noticed it on someone's talk page and fixed it, but then had to go offline! Thank you for your cleanup efforts - a bit embarrassing! Thanks also for your comments about my RfA. I thought I should thank everyone, as it was all constructive criticism, and where it wasn't I've asked those editors to clarify.

Deletion of my page

I recently found out that my user page was deleted. I don't understand why this has happened, and why you did this. I spent countless hours working on this page, and I don't understand why I had no say in this decision. I am a notable music producer and musician and composer that has definitely accomplished "notable" status in my career. I have composed music for a variety of films and television shows and have performed concert tours around the world. At first my page was moved to a user page because it did not have enough content to verify that I am "notable", so I decided to leave it in the user area until I bring my information up to par and provide links and verifyable information. I was still in the process of doing this after many many hours of working on this site and learning how to use the Wikipedia interface, and all of a sudden everything I did was deleted! I find this absolutely unfair and I should have at least be made part of the decision.

I would like to know if there is anyway to retrieve all my hard work that I did and get my user page back. I was told that my page belongs in the User area when it was removed from the encyclopedia, at least for now until I can verify my information. Now it got deleted from the User area, where I was told it is supposed to be. I don't understand this, and I would like to know why this happened, and why I wasn't consulted on this decision?

Please get back to me,

Jason Greenberg

I was not one of the people who decided upon the fate of your user page. I am an admin, and I only deleted the page after it ran for five days at Wikipedia:Miscellany_for_deletion/User:Jason_Greenberg. Your only edits on Wikipedia were made on August 17, and it seemed like you were just a single-purpose account that just wanted to advertise yourself on Wikipedia. See the MfD link above to know the full extent of the reasoning behind the deletion. Nishkid64 21:37, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism to "Sioux Center, Iowa"

Hello Nishkid64, Thank you for reverting article "Sioux Center, Iowa" to it's previous form. User "Freddawg85" is vandalizing by contributing mindless drivel to amuse his friends. Your revert was quickly written on again.

I would appreciate you overseeing Freddawg85.

Thanks for the good work, Valecito

Thanks for giving me the heads-up! It seems that the user has stopped editing for now, but I will still keep a close eye on him. Nishkid64 21:37, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why?

Why do you insist on spoiling our fun? We're all hungover and bored and want something to do between gettin shitfaced. We thought that vandalising your page was fun but obviously you do not agree you twat.

Changing your sign

Could you consider changing your sign. At this point, you have used quite dark colours, which makes reading your name a bit difficult. You could change it or try using some lighter colours. Sorry, if it caused you any offence --Ageo020 (talkcontribscount) 18:08, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think the problem is your using dark blue as your background. You are using a dark colour as your background and as a font colour. Consider using a light colour for yor background, and a dark colour for your fonts. Thanks for considering the suggestion --Ageo020 (talkcontribscount) 18:14, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That wasn't vandalism. That's what Doctor Venture said when he admitted they had sex!

Okay, I apologize for that. Regardless, it isn't really encyclopedic, so it is better if the comment isn't put into the article. Nishkid64 21:13, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism / sock puppet

Hey again,

it seems that our old friend, who likes vandalizing my userpage and inserting strong positive POV in pages related to the Turkish army, now is back as user:172.130.210.78. As you might remember the person has been blocked at several IP adresses. Bertilvidet 19:53, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the relevant threats and suggested (although I strongly doubt that this will happen) that he pursue this off-wiki. That's probably our best response, given the particular situation. Ah, those Singaporeans and their shared IPs. Well, number 1, when a user is blocked, every IP they use is blocked as well; it doesn't matter who else is using it - that's how autoblocks work. Number 2, you can unblock the IP without knowing it. What I do is I go to the blocked user's talk page, put an {{unblock}} on it, preview it (don't save), and click the link that says "current autoblocks." That should show a list of autoblocks that you can then unblock without unblocking the user. Come back if you have any more trouble. --Mr. Lefty (talk) 20:00, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed your message to Mr Lefty and went and lifted the autoblock. [1]. -- Steel 20:02, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, that would be fine I guess. However, I'm just saying generally. If you definitely feel the article shouldn't even be prodded and should just be deleted (see if it is notable at all), then by all means, go ahead. Nishkid64 22:39, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please advise - your input appreciated.

I am also active in wikipedia and created a page for a local access TV show called Ms. Divine's Tee Hee Heure Unfortunately, it was deleted and deemed "un-notable". Upon looking up the definition of unnotable, wikipedia states that it can be notable if it is backed by external sites. In my entry I posted external sites that discuss this Local TV show. Please advise as now that I checked, it appears that the page is deleted. Thanks ````PeterWeller

For many articles there are external links that back up the subject. The same applies here. Although you added external links to the article, the subject itself is not notable, and local TV external links won't do much to help its case. I'm sorry but the deletion stands. By the way, an AfD was made for both Ms. Divine and Ms. Divine's Tee Hee Heure and the community consensus was: Delete. Nishkid64 23:21, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for you response, However you stated that I wrote local external Links for Ms. Divine's Tee Hee Heure. They are not all local TV external Links, 2 are from official sites with regard to the article Ms Divine. Please advise. Also Public TV is defined in the wikipedia. Please advise as to how I can have article reviewed so that it will not be deleted.

Personally, I don't believe those are really external links. One shows the TV schedule, another shows the channel website, and the last one is an independent website which has a collection of almost ALL TV shows out there (including non-notable local shows). Nishkid64 23:41, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The performance artist Ms. Divine is a director/actress and she and her films are listed in the movie guide. I am not sure what link you specifically checked.

here are the links again with reference and proof of notablility for Ms. Divine

Ms. Divine listed in the New York Times - http://movies2.nytimes.com/gst/movies/filmography.html?p_id=454333

Ms. Divine listed in IMDB (Internet Movie Database) http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2345632/

Ms. Divine listed in All Movie Guide - http://www.allmovie.com/cg/avg.dll?p=avg&sql=2:454333

Ms. Divine's film at the Pioneer Theatre http://www.twoboots.com/pioneer/monthly_programs/2005-11.htm

I also have the official website as well.

In addition to Ms. Divine being a director/actress, she also has her local TV show as well. That is why there were 2 articles, one for Ms. Divine and one for Ms. Divine's Tee Hee Heure.

The Television network that her show airs on is supported by TimeWarner Cable and RCN Cable, under a franchise agreement with the City of New York. Which means that is a legit channel accessible to all cable customers.

Her program is listed in the guide at http://www.mnn.org/viewers/schedule On the drop down menu for channel selection select "TW 67/16 RCN 86"; For Time select Mon 10/16 scroll down to the time 10:30pm and you will see the program listing for the show Ms. Divine's Tee Hee Heure..

The other program is listed under http://www.qptv.org/iq/ProgramGuide/ChannelListings/tabid/95/Default.aspx Select Monday then scroll down to the time 8:30pm, on channel 34 You will see Ms. Divine's Tee Hee Heure listed there. Also select Wednesday then scroll down to 1:30pm on channel 56, again you will see the program listed there.

There are other programs that air on these channels that are defined in wikipedia. There are people out there that want to know and read more about these programs. That is one of the reasons why i took the time to write the articles.

Again thank you for your prompt response, i appreciate it. But please advise as I find this matter quite frustrating with regard to all the work I put in it.. PeterWeller 00:01, 19 October 2006 (UTC)PeterWeller[reply]

Hmmm...you do bring up a few good points, but I'm still totally not sure about this. Actors/actresses generally need to have multiple film or television credits to warrant an article, and besides the movie and TV show, she doesn't really seem to have anything else. The movie isn't just an independent release, not something major, and the same goes with the TV show. I'm just a bit unsure about this. Nishkid64 00:19, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I don't know how frequently you check your email, but if you get a minute, would you mind having a look at your email? I sent you one a few minutes ago. Just a heads-up. Thanks, Metros232 00:10, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mattisse

Just a heads-up; I've commented on your protection of User:Mattisse at WP:AN/I. I think you (and the other editors) meant well, but are misusing the sockpuppeteer template in this case. TenOfAllTrades(talk) 00:19, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I saw your message and I was responding but got edit conflicted. I guess the whole situation was a misunderstanding. I did not know when exactly to put a sockpuppeteer tag on a user page, and I frankly didn't think it was that big of a deal before you brought it up. If you believe that my actions were unjust, then by all means go ahead and remove the tag. I received an email from Metros232 regarding another possible sockpuppet of Mattisse name Xampt. I really couldn't verify this, so if you want to look into the matter, be my guest. Nishkid64 00:34, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

I just wanted to say thank you again for taking the time to read and visit the links that I sent you. Yes, Ms Divine is an independant film artist, but still a legit one. Yes, it is just one movie, but it is something that people are interested in finding out more. yes it is one show Ms. Divine's Tee Hee Heure, but it is a weekly show that has been running for the past couple of years.

She also currently has several movies in the works on her official website. The internet movie database which is a very popular movie guide has her listed. Should they reject her movie because its just one. They didn't do that, because their site encompasses a body of useful information. That's why people frequent that site so much, because they find information that is not always that easy to find.

For instance, there are many bands listed in wikipedia, many are not under any major labels, but yet, they are nevertheless valid and notable, because they have an underground audience.

One of the benefits of wikipedia is that people can find information that they don't always get a chance to lay their hands on. Not false information but facts.

I understand that many people purposely use wikipedia to falsify information. I have not done that but tried my best to support the article with the links I enclosed. Wikipedia does have policies about subjects being notable and one of the clauses was to provide evidence. And that's what I have done. I have used wikipedia before to access information about artists and bands and found it very useful.

I worked very hard on both articles, feeling that it provided people with information. Yet another reason for people to want to use wikipedia as it contains thousands of useful articles.

Please advise what can be done. and thanks again for taking the time out to read my lengthy response, I really appreciate it..PeterWeller 00:48, 19 October 2006 (UTC)PeterWeller[reply]

Re: Article Deletion Question

Hm, tricky call. I see three main options -- one, just say no. Two, start a discussion at deletion review. Three, just overturn it ourselves and start a second AfD. The latter two sound the most civil, to me, especially considering the speedy close on my part. I still don't think this person would meet WP:BIO, but as always, I'll be as open as possible to productive discussion. Luna Santin 01:11, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Nish for reinstating the page. I hope I have enough time to debate the page. How many days do I have? It's late night here, that's why I asked.
I noticed that both the deletion for MS. divine's tee hee heure and Ms. Divine go to the same page. Should it go to separate pages or is it going to have to be both. I just was a little confused.

Block duration

That seems reasonable. Bucketsofg 01:18, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your apology as I realized you were not understanding the situation

I just want to be able to take off my user page the personal stuff that was not there before. I will start over with a new name after all this is over and never put anything on a user page again.

I actually don't care about the sockpuppet label because the people who value my work don't seem bothered by it. And those are the people I care about anyway. Maybe you will become one of them. I know it is extremely hard being an administrator, which is the reason I would rather just write articles instead. I can feel the pressure you were under. Some old friends who have known me all along, through mistakes and all have offered support which has meant a great deal, so I am hopeful about human nature. Hey, I saw your message earlier but I was at school, so I didn't have time to respond completely. The best solution is to provide a civil request to the editor and tell him to stop editing your user page with stupid things. The user is basically using his user page as a test sandbox, so it's nothing too serious. A civil reply sometimes is all that is needed to resolve disputes.
