Final Fantasy VI repeat edits

I apologize for the redundency of my edits. I had only skimmed the magicite entry and did not see that it was already mentioned. I still believe the vanish/X-zone trick deserves some honorable mention. I also apologize for not using the edit summaries.--Stratos40 00:31, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

I also greatly and truly apologize for the redundancy of my edits earlier in the month. I had also skimmed the entry and did not see that the fact that it was the last main FF series title for the SNES is redundant and is considered WP:Trivia (perhaps important, but not terribly interesting). I still believe that the "final main FF series title for the SNES" deserves honorable mention also. I also apologize for not using the edit summaries for some of the time. The information listed in some of the FF articles has given me a better idea about those edits, removing information from the FF articles will sometimes help me out, as per the FFVI talk page. FF articles #2

In FFX, the fact was removed for the first main FF title for the PS2 (maybe removed as per WP:NOR). I wasn't really impressed by this removal. As a Wikipedian, I still believe this particular fact deserves honorable and notable mention :). Some of those facts seem redundant, not interesting, not necessary (which may be in your perspective) and maybe "superfluous" because it just clutters up the info :) and during the FAC Process, like you said, such observations are discouraged during the process and that's why you removed that fact for the FFX. Keep in mind though, that FFX is most notable for the first release for the PS2 in my honest opinion because it is the first game to have full voices (in English and Japanese) and the first game to use the CTB battle system. Also keep in mind though, that FFVI is the final main FF series title to be released for the SNES in my honest opinion because it is the last to use Mode 7, the final main FF series title to use the 16-bit graphics, the final main FF series title to be on a cartridge and also the final FF series title to use the SPC sound engine among other things. I will take your advice as a Wikipedian that the PS and the PS2 revolutionized graphics and games, so a mention of that should be in here somewhere as to fit in :). Hero/Protagonist talk page precedent

There's a discussion at Talk:Squall Leonhart regarding whether the word "hero" is unsuitably POV to describe Squall. The eventual consensus was that it is, and that "protagonist" is a more appropriate word to use. Would that be suitable as precedent? Bhamv 06:06, 3 March 2007 (UTC)


Death Note issues

Not talking about the manga releases. I'm having issues with your hairsplitting revisions. I agree that a number of anime, manga, J-rock etc. sites tend to be fancrufty, disorganized, violating neutral point of view big-time and full of original research. Keeping them under some control is a real pain in the coccyx. However you spend a lot of time sweating small stuff like announcing volume release dates a little early or how many episodes of the anime there are-- which comes off control-freaky -- and miss bigger stuff like how to deal with the IP vandals. Reverting and warning works fine on entries where vandalism is low. When there are frequent attacks, reverting and warning on IP's is a drop in the bucket-- I've tracerouted a number of <s>these turdspiders</s> vandals' IPs on various articles to be from open relay proxies/anonymous gateways. That's when protection comes in-- semi or total lockup. As for your style, that's your own lookout if you truly "don't care what other editors think". However your "style" of accompanying revisions with snide edit summaries falls under disruptive (qv. "hairsplitting revisions") and can get you reported. I'm just sayin'. Plot summary

If you look at the top half of what I was doing in my sandbox, I wonder if you will still have the same qualms about adding a plot summary. At this point it was just translation, and I didn't adjust any content based on what I think should be in the article. Official romanizations in Ouran

I've noticed that in the Ouran High School Host Club article and the List of Ouran High School Host Club characters article, the official romanizations (e.g. Suou, etc.) are being changed (which you correctly reverted in your edit on the main Ouran page), however the changes in the characters page had gone unnoticed, until I reverted it myself, after noticing it. I feel incredibly insulted by that phrase. You know, the person reverting the changes just now gave me a decent rationale for the changes (Romanizations used in Japanese site, fair enough) - before that, I thought he or she was mistakenly applying wapuro as "correct" romanizations for an anime series with differing official romanizations used in English translation. So, I dealt with him as if he was a misguided fan. I feel insulted, because I am a senior editor who has been on Wikipedia since 2004. WhisperToMe 22:46, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

I have halted discussion of the issue as of now, but I will mention romanization stuff:

What you are describing is a series of more informal romanization styles, which are not standardized.

But "Oo" as in "Ootori" is seen in modified Hepburn system (which does not use macrons) - and it applies to both o-u and o-o combinations - This system, used in the Pocket Kenkyusha Japanese Dictionary published by Oxford University Press, is not common.

Wikipedia, when using official romanizations, uses the Library of Congress system, which uses macrons. If macrons are taken away, then various informal romanization styles dominate. A lot of anime fans like using wapuro, but plenty of people also use Passport Hepburn and non-indicating romanization to refer to people, places, and objects as well. Please stop removing spaces from Kanji

It's against the relevant MOS. WP:MOS-JA#Names specifically says to include spaces. This is because, "true to the language" or not, by removing the spaces you make it impossible to tell where the words end and begin and vastly reduce the utility to readers of the article who do not speak Japanese. --tjstrf talk 00:59, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

The two times they do spell it out, for modern and historical, it is with a space, so it's obviously intended that spaces be the rule. For a personal instance from a week or so ago where the spacing was instrumental, I needed to search out confirmation for a reference using Google and the place where I eventually found it (which was 90% in Japanese) listed the person only by family name. Without the spacing, I would not have been able to find the information because I would have had to search for the entire Kanji string, not all of which was present on the site, rather than just his family name. --tjstrf talk 01:18, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Reverting Vandalism

Thank you for reverting vandalism to Wikipedia, which you did in Final Fantasy (series). After you revert, I would recommend also warning the users whose edits you revert on their talk pages with an appropriate template or custom message. This will serve to direct new users towards the sandbox, educate them about Wikipedia, and a stern warning to a vandal may prevent him or her from vandalizing again. A Little Clarity

I don't think you understand something.

We are ALTIMIT Corporation. We have discussed the matter with Bandai and it's copyright office, and they have given us permission to be ALTIMIT Corporation, and given us permission to create the OS for Real-Life. We are not just a fan project, we are a real company producing a real version of ALTIMIT.

Edit: You misunderstand. I am not saying I m fictional. We are the real life version of the company, making the real life version of the Operating system. Bandai's permission allowed us to create the company for real. We told them what we wanted to do, and that we wanted to start the company and make the OS. They gave us permission to use the copyrighted material from the game and shows. And I realize the article was first created to be for the fictional versions, but that was also before we came along and formed the actual company and started development on the actual OS. I acknowledge the guidelines, but the people pointing it out is making it seem like we do not exist at all, and that we are merely some kids making a windows theme or something. Your not giving us any credit, and I doubt anyone has even looked at our work to see how development is coming. And I'm sure if we do get the office and other things, users here would STILL not let the information be put on the srticle because it was fiction first, and we're "not real". Thats what everyone is making it sound like to me, and my users also agree. They also read discussion and the terms.

Nique, I'm jumping in here after spotting the post on WP:COIN, sorry for the intrusion. DarkAkira: you are not the fictional company turned real because you were not at any point in existence in the cartoon featuring the OS. At no point did you go from being a 2 dimensional drawing to being real. You are working of a project to recreate the Operating System in the real world. That does not make it the same OS. If you could walk into those .hack cartoons, take the install CD, and come back here and install it, then you would have the OS that is discussed in the article. You can have a page at ALTIMAT OS (real) or something similiar once your project becomes notable, which it is not at this point. -Mask? 16:37, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

Birth by sleep

Okay, since logic seems to be a weak point of yours, I'll try and make this as binary as possible.

  • 1) Does the old Keyblader in Birth by sleep wear the same outfit as Xehanort's heartless, minus the Heartless emblems? (Yes/No)
  • 2) Does anyone in the game series but Xehanort's heartless and the old man wear any outfit even slightly resembling that?
  • 3) Does the old Keyblader in Birth by sleep summon (or reveal) Kingdom Hearts?
  • 4) Does anyone but Xehanort's heartless, Xehanort's Nobody, and the old Keyblader summon or reveal Kingdom Hearts in the game series?

Can you provide anything but your own personal opinions to back up that their isn't some link there? I'm not trying to claim that the old Keyblader is Xehanort, like all the idiots who claim the Enigmatic Soldier is. I'm merely stating what appears in the video. If it was a FANMADE video, maybe I'd understand your accusations of speculation. As it is, it's made by Nomura's team, and it's pretty obvious that the man is both revealing Kingdom Hearts and wearing the same basic outfit as Xehanort's heartless.

If you want to continue reverting me, or call on community or official mediation/arbitration, go ahead. But from my point of view, you and apostrophe are removing valid edits (I mean, if it's lack of a source, I can link to the youtube video or kh2.co.uk, which is a more lasting link) to support your own opinions - essentially, you two are trying to assert control of the article, just as has been attempted at the Organization page. And before you try to claim you're "only removing the vandalism such as MANSEX" - I'll be perfectly happy to provide the links showing where you, in fact, aren't.

So, I will continue to insert the information. If you ask me to, I'll even put in the referencing link to kh2.co.uk's download of the video, or the embedded video they have on their page. I'll comply with any official mediation you request. Furthermore, calling my claim that the man shares Xehanort's powers "speculation" is irrelevant - I wasn't trying to include that line in the article.

In a story rife with symbolism such as this, how are clothes NOT a valid connection? The order robes have always indicated some submersion into the world of darkness - that's why all the Order members, as well as Riku and Mickey, wear them. The clothes Xehanort wears are very unique to him, and the fact that ANYONE shares his outfit is noticeable - the only other case of a shared costume is in Riku and his clone, and the Order. Not even minor NPC's have the same generic costume.
I honestly can't understand why all the other stuff people reference is more of a connection than two characters choosing the same unique costume, especially if the enemy of one declares himself to be the enemy of the other.KrytenKoro 21:44, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
