I'll see what I can do for the Anarchism in Cuba article, but I'm not sure I'll be able to contribute much. I'll copyedit it and check for grammar and punctuation if you like, but I'm not familiar with anarchism in Cuba at all so I'll be much more interested in the reading aspect of the article. I don't know Scum System Kill but I do know a couple of good anarchist bands in Australia. I know Mutiny through mutual friends and they're really cool guys, but unless I happen to catch a band on tour I probably won't know them unless they're from Victoria and pretty active. Plus the punk scene in Ballarat is almost entirely non-anarchist sXe punks. I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Hilary Coleman. I do not think that Hilary Coleman fits any of the speedy deletion criteria because asserts membership in a minimally notable band. I request that you consider not re-tagging Hilary Coleman for speedy deletion without discussing the matter on the appropriate talk page. Tagging White people/Compromise version

Why did you do that? I was trying to make a redirect to the talk page. There is mediation going on the White people article, and it was suggested, by the mediation team, to create a work space to reach a compromise. Lyre River

Heya... I'll try to respond in a bit.. currently a bit busy and about to take a vacation to the Oregon coast. But should find some time and focus eventually. I'd never even heard of the Lyre River, although I certainly am familiar with Lake Crescent. In any case, if a map is still needed later, I typically use a combination of ArcGIS and Abode Illustrator/Photoshop to make maps -- and I'd make one if needed, though it might take some weeks to get to it. I can also add my usual source references for rivers.. although I'm not sure the water discharge sources will have much if anything on the Lyre River. Looks good so far though! I copied Lyre River into my sandbox and made a few quick edits of the type I usually do for rivers. I'm no expert on how to go about this stuff best, this is just the way I've been doing it. Being quick, I didn't edit the content but just a few things to the geobox. Some of the changes I made are just a matter of taste, but I figured it couldn't hurt to do one the way I've been doing them, mostly. The main points that occurred to me:

  • Used geobox's region_type to make a County field.
  • Left out repeated United States and Washington links, figuring once is enough, especially since the river is wholly contained in one county. On the other hand, added Olympic National Park to the source location, just for fun.
  • Used GNIS coordinates, which differ slightly from yours, and added source reference footnotes in geobox. GNIS coordinates are not always the most accurate, so your source may be better, though footnote refs seem like a good idea.
  • Added elevation as reported in Google Earth for the GNIS coordinates, and footnoted. Again this may not be the best way to do it, but sourcing stats seems useful.
  • My quick research didn't turn up discharge stats, length, or watershed size. You've got length and watershed stats, so I added empty fields for source footnotes to be added. Also added the _round fields so that metric conversions are also precise to one decimal place (not sure why length didn't get a decimal place.. perhaps it rounded right to 27.0).
  • I checked the tributaries for existing wikipedia pages and found none. If there were pages, the tribs would auto-link. Perhaps it is obvious (but it took me a while to learn) that auto-linking (if it happens) can be disabled with nowiki tags.
  • Also added a See also and another Category. I usually add state river list pages under See also. And for streams contained within a county or two I sometimes add the county's category.

Found a couple of additional statistics from the WA Dept of Ecology. They apparently have a (relatively new) streamflow gage on the river. So I added a discharge stat to the copy at my sandbox, along with a note mentioning the stat is "estimate". Also found a mention of the basin size in square miles, just slightly different from yours. Its from a draft version of the Ecology WRIA management plan (it seems like state and local government "plans" are quite often "draft" -- sometimes I think they remain drafts out of fear of liability and lawsuit possibilities). In any case, precise numbers for watershed size, not to mention stream length, coordinates, elevation, etc, are never 100% correct. Differing definitions of "sea level", coordinate datums, precision of digitization etc... sometimes I just read what I can off a decent topo map and call it good. The Legal status of Hawaii Page

Aloha Murderbike -- I could really use your help as a member of the CSB project to take a look at this page and give your mana'o (thoughts). I am currently in a bit of a struggle over a question of "undue weight" (it is true that Hawaiians are now a minority in Hawai'i, and those both knowledgeable in history and willing and able to speak out about it are a relatively small group, but I don't think the indigenous viewpoint being squashed is ok either). I am not asking for anyone to participate in the struggle itself, but there needs to be a broader perspective, so if you can take a look at it and give your thoughts (it's okay not to know anything about the subject; it might be better that way), it would be really appreciated! Mahalo for your response! I think that the central question that needs help is the question of "undue weight" within Wikipedia policy. I feel that I understand the policy pretty well, but I also believe that its application must be balanced with questions of systemic bias, which Wikipedia also acknowledges are important. Because I can see that you have some knowledge of indigenous issues, my question is this: when an indigenous viewpoint exists alongside an opposing (and more prevalent, but generally less informed in terms of population) mainstream viewpoint, is it really "undue weight" to present the indigenous viewpoint with equal potential validity? I believe it would be POV to assess "right and wrong" at all, but I think the presentation should be balanced without regard to population size (although I don't mind a mention of population sizes, but this must be a fair assessment and not one designed to deliberately marginalize the native people). Anarchism in Cuba + Enrique Roig San Martin image

In response to your question, I do not know the source illustrator of the image, but I am aware that it is based upon this image of Enrique himself. A source or date for that photograph, however, is beyond my grasp.

Further, I thank you for inviting me to take part in the creation of an article detailing the history of Cuban anarchism. I've been holding on to this particular image with a similar intention myself. I had first planned on completing the article on Sakae Osugi, before creating an article on Anarchism in Japan, before tackling a Cuban article. There are actually more english language sources on Japanese anarchism than you might at first suppose. Japan had a very vibrant anarchist movement at one point in history, with international ties to western, Korean, and Chinese anarchists. At one point, January was a memorial period as important as May Day amongst anarchists, due to the execution of japanese anarchists following the High Treason Incident. However, anarchists were crushed by brutal repression in Japan in the years just before WWII, and have still not yet recovered fully. There is a modern anarchist movement which is now slowly growing, due in part to the obsolescence of leftist alternatives, and with the aid of networking through the internet. English sources for early 20th century texts and post WWII incidents are also available through the Kate Sharply Library, which has several pamphlets available on the subject. Further, there is an english language biography of Sakae Osugi in print, and which I have in my current possession. It details a great deal of the events surrounding Osugi's life, and is also a valuable resource for information on Noe Ito. Japanese anarchist websites are also of use. Three of interest include Cira Japana, a japanese equivalent to the KSL; and Anarchy in Nippon, which provides an excellent timeline for anarchism in japan (although it is in need of an update); and perhaps of very rare importance is this image gallery, which contains pictures of items owned by famous anarchists, including the first japanese anarchist himself, Shūsui Kōtoku. With these sources, I hope to put together a fair article on the subject matter.
As for Blackbird ROUM, I was not the anonymous poster who first placed their information on the Roum article, but I did wikify it I am aware of the band, and know that their CD is presently available online, through Quiver Distro or Little Black Cart.--Cast 08:32, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

re: Bot removal of templates

Every article in Wikipedia is a work in progress. Those templates are designed to prevent edit conflicts. They are best used when the article is actively being worked on and the update is imminent. If he's working on new sections and the addition is not soon, then I wouldn't bother until he's ready to add them. As the template discourages others from contributing, it's better to leave it off until you need it so that others may add content as well. I haven't actually looked at the article and am speaking generically. As an editor if the article, you are in a better position to determine if it is needed and you are welcome to re-add it if you think it's appropriate. If that doesn't make sense, let me know. I've de-tagged Bulleit Bourbon‎, it's in no way advertising a product more than Jack Daniels is, I suggest you re-read the CSDs before using them loosely to remove articles about well established brands that you might not personally have encountered.

Lightning Bolt discography merge

You're killin' me here. I made the article less than an hour ago and your already suggesting I merge it. It is a work in progress at the moment, mainly because you haven't given me any time to work on it. I plan on making it in the style of The Make-Up discography, another discog I've worked on and had some success with. I moved the info off of the Lightning Bolt page specifically because a) it was too much info in too much detail for the band's main article, and b) I wanted to add more information (much like the Make-Up discog I mentioned above). So, if you really feel strongly about this merge I suppose we can go through all the discussion and debates and what not, but I'd appreciate it if you just gave me the benefit of the doubt, take the banner thing off, and give a little bit of time to make it a worthwhile article. Like I said, I plan on adding more information to the discography, stuff that really isn't that important to the band as a whole. Also, the same discogs lists were on the Brian Gibson (musician) and Brian Chippendale pages. They were even worse there, since they have other projects beyond LB. As the info stands, I suppose it is borderline whether it really was that bad on the main LB page, but with more info added it would be a clear case, I think. I both have improved the article and object to the deletion of the article. If you want to continue to nominate the article for deletion, you must nominate if for deletion, per {{AfD}}. I don't know if you saw my two messages; I'm still new at how things work Wikipedially. Read the notability guidelines and I still think the guy qualifies: M. Roland Heintzelman Award, first publkished at 11, virtual inventor as far as I know of "mistranslation" as a literary genre, not to mention connerctions to John Cage, Timothy Leary, Bob Marley, his own father (Richard F. Jarrell), Sidewalk Sam, Jackie Washington, James E. Lovelock, Bill Lichtenstein (himself deleted), Jonathan Mann, Ray Raphael, Bob Dylan (trivial but cute), Merce Cunningham—which I would have gotten around to in the next draft. Oh, well; he himself heartily didn't want the article, saying it would interfere with his work. I tried to convince him that an online encyclopdeia entry would hardly cause him stalkers or even curious fans phoning him, but obstinacy is practically his most prominant characteristic. Not that I wish Sidewalk Sam deleted, but I'm curious why his article remains unflagged compared to, say, Ray Raphael's. Opposition to United States foreign policy

Hmmmmm... this article is a problem.... but not one that would get sorted by a deletion discussion. Some looking through Google news, books and scholar shows a lot of discussion about it and at least a few publications dedicated to it. It very clearly will be kept after any deletion discussion and, given it's about US politics, will always be a battleground. The only solutions I can see are: enter the battle ground and try to steer the article your way, rewrite it from scratch off line and get consensus support on the talk page or (my favorite) take it off your watch list and ignore the article. - Peripitus (Talk) 02:51, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lyre River

Hi Murderbike, I made a new free map for the Lyre River article as the one that was in it is not free - Washington state's government is not free (only US Government work is). Unfortunately, I do not know much about Washington rivers. I think you already have USGS GNIS data for it. Another thing is to look at the USGS topographic maps at Topozone. I would also look at other stream articles - there are three US river Featured Articles: Paulins Kill, Larrys Creek and White Deer Hole Creek. I would add the {{geolinks-US-river}} template. I'm in the process both of organizing my work & then working on the various articles I've made a commitment to on Wikipedia. My commitment to Battle of Washita River is of the longest standing, so I'm back to work on it...I've been doing a lot of reading, but not much writing on it... I think I got a little overwhelmed by it, maybe even burnt out. However, here I go with it again. I notice our old... um... friend is back on the talk page with the usual assortment of questionable claims. Speedy deletion of Fixya

Hello Sir, I noticed that you've deleted the webpage I created for Fixya. Can you please tell me what is wrong with this webpage and what I can do to make it a valid wikipedia article? I understand the need to keep wikipedia clean and relevant bu I see so many articles about websites much smaller than Fixya that it really puzzles me why such an important, popular and "Good Doer" website became a target.

If you run a search on Google Blog for Fixya you'll find thousands of articles some from the most important blogs on the net (techcrunch, crunch gear, webware) as well as TV articles by Fox News.

Hi, sorry I never got back to you on your question about RfC resolution. There really is no "concluding action" from an RfC, because it really is more of a fact-finding tool, which then can be used to support other actions, from requests for arbitration to community-based bans of users, either from specific articles or entirely. In this case, it serves as a matter or record so that further individual transgressions are viewed with the RfC in mind, rather than with AGF in mind. And, on that note, you might have observed that the party in question once again transgressed the discuss-before-posting rules of this article, and garnered a 1-week block, then tried to use an IP address to evade the block, which has now been boosted to one month. Basically, more regarding his biographical data. It says he was born in New York and that he went to grad school and that's about all I see. Some info on where he attended school, maybe some family background, if he's ever been married, had kids, stuff like that. I have no reservations about the remainder of the content of the article, but as a biographical article it could use a few more details about his life per se. In fact, with just two or three paragraphs in the "Biography" section, or less if not much info is available, I can see it getting a good "B" assessment. Good work on the article so far, it has greatly improved. Before it is assessed as B class, include a small section on the book the film is based on. Include any notable differences, critical reception on the differences, themes presented, etc. Anything you can include on that will help to expand the article further. NRHP infobox generator

Got ur reply back about the coordinates. I anticipated u were not using the Elkman infobox generator, and had just wondered if you had copied the infobox from another article about another site without correcting the coordinates, or if u had better info (as you did). The generator is all information from one big download off the National Register info system, which itself can, indeed, have bad coordinates data. The Elkman infobox generator is a great tool in general, you should "bookmark" it and use it. Like i noticed in your recent contributions that you commented on some NRHP site in Washington, with West in its name, that needs development. One way to improve that article is to put in the infobox using this generator. Glad you're on board with NRHP development.... Take a look at List of National Historic Landmarks in Washington if you have not already, i personally am most interested in fixing up the NRHP articles on sites that are also NHLs.... cheers, doncram (talk) 18:33, 22 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, your Whatcom County table is great! You should announce it already on the New pages area of WP:NRHP (people use that to announce significant improvements to existing pages, too). There was a list of NRHPs in Seattle that was also pretty far along like that, but otherwise I don't recall seeing any like that. Are you going to create the corresponding articles? With the infobox generator, plus a photo, plus your apparent knowledge about these sites, you can do nice work with all of that, that's clear.
