Outdent

Hi, Mramoeba. You made a comment in Talk:Seth Andrews#Wholesale deletions of Public Speaking section that you "don't know how to do that nice line thing to bring it back to the left hand side :D)" So in case it comes in handy in future, it is the opposite of indenting the successive comments: it is {{outdent}}. You can use it just by itself where it looks like this:

Or you can give it a argument for how many levels of indentation you want to outdent (default is 10), so {{outdent|12}} gives this slightly longer line:

Or something really cool: if you can't be bothered counting the levels of indent you can use a string of colons instead. So {{outdent|:::::::}} gives:

I hope that you will consider going to Wikivoyage and sharing your favorite restaurants, hotels, and other things from the places you've visited. It's actually easier to edit than Wikipedia (no sources to cite, no complicated templates), but if you get stuck, then just ask for help at voy:Wikivoyage:Travellers' pub. Hi, sorry to template you. I was looking at this article and I'm concerned that this individual is only remarkable due to this singular event, without which she is not notable. Because of that I'm not sure the individual merits having a Wikipedia page. Perhaps we should consider merging it into another article until such time as the individual is notable enough for a full article. Mifter (talk) 22:47, 14 February 2017 (UTC)

Hi @Mifter: I'm not sure which is the singular event you are referring to. Hari is a programmer who has developed several pieces of software/interfaces, most notably her periodic table learning device for visually impaired and blind students for which she won Broadcom MASTERS. The following year she developed that into a smartphone app and was invited to the White House Science Fair. The next piece of software she wrote and developed was medicine management software for blind and visually impaired, the elderly and those with alzheimers. She works with Piper Inc developing their software, and so on. She's been invited to the White House twice! That's on top of the fact that she's 13 years old. As there's not one single event how would you like me to improve the article? Thanks Mramoeba (talk) 23:26, 14 February 2017 (UTC)

Looking at the article, it looks like that is periodic table is the only truly notable event, the medicine management software is mentioned secondarily in an article primarily about science camp, Piper Inc. does not itself appear to be notable (it does not have its own article), and while being invited to the Whitehouse is "cool" it doesn't automatically make you notable. This looks like a very promising young girl however the only thing that appears truly noteworthy with coverage in reliable 3rd party sources is the periodic table and even that appears to be a one off occurrence. I would recommend merging the content regarding the periodic table to another article that is related (e.g. an article about the awards themselves) or finding some other sources to establish notability outside of the one event of the periodic table app. Best, Mifter (talk) 23:51, 14 February 2017 (UTC)

I'm adding more information including citations for the medicine management app (which incidentally has little do with summer camp, i will check my wording) and the award won for that. Here is a girl who is generating press interest in the field of software for people with blindness and visual impairment, and is reported in science websites aimed at those people, and whether it is cool or not is presenting her software in the White House Science Fair which is reported in national press is notable. I would have to disagree. It's after midnight here so i will have to continue tomorrow. Mramoeba (talk) 00:20, 15 February 2017 (UTC)

Should it be relevant I can also improve the page with 2 photos, a portrait photo for infobox and a photo taken at the White House of Hari meeting Bill Nye the Science guy. I also read that she is teaching science classes so I will add that anon Mramoeba (talk) 00:38, 15 February 2017 (UTC)

Its good that you added more cites. However, I still don't believe the article is notable enough to be an article. I put it up for AFD (as the template states below) to gather some additional input, I hope you don't take it personally as it isn't meant to be, I think the article is very well written and well sourced. However, I honestly believe the individual is not yet notable (from your other article I must say you are a pretty good writer and you seem to find interesting topics). Talkback from another's user page

My edit was based on Wikipedia:Categorization/Ethnicity, gender, religion and sexuality, which cited: Categories regarding religious beliefs or lack of such beliefs of a living person should not be used unless the subject has publicly self-identified with the belief in questionand WP:NONDEF: which cited Categorization by non-defining characteristics should be avoided. It is sometimes difficult to know whether or not a particular characteristic is "defining" for any given topic, and there is no one definition that can apply to all situations. However, the following suggestions or rules-of-thumb may be helpful:. Hope my edit wasn't a controversial. It can be verified that the subject was an atheist, but it should also be that key defining trait that the subject was prominently noted for or defining characteristic.--Jobas (talk) 19:09, 24 March 2017 (UTC)

Thank you for your response @Jobas: I am unsure how you are able to make a qualitative judgement on whether the characteristic is 'defining' for the pages in question when your deletions are coming at a rate of two a minute. The pages I have edited are prominent Humanists or spokespeople for living without god, and contributors through various media on the subject of atheism. Again, without raising it with editors of the page and interested parties I am failing to see how you are able to make that judgement. If your research is currently atheism as a defining characteristic of an individual perhaps you would like to help me go through and add any missing citations where appropriate, otherwise your edits look indiscriminate and provocative. I'd suggest continuing it on Wikiproject Atheism, since this is directly relevant to it, for the sake of centralisation.
