The details provided, however, are wrong. It was not taken during the 1973 war, but on June 9, 1967, in the northern Sinai. You can see it on the BBC site here, it also appears in Nicolle/Cooper Arab MiG-21s book, and it even appears on the Israeli Air Force website here. All attribute it to the 1967 war. Furthermore, it was taken by an Israeli photographer traveling with the convoy. This means the licensing is also wrong, as the copyright don't belong to the Egyptian government and therefore are not in the Egyptian public domain. Poliocretes (talk) 08:15, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
Late ReplyHey Muhammed! I'm very sorry, but I only just read your question on my talk page. I don't know how in the world I didn't see it. I usually reply to posts on my talk page quickly. I'm sorry I took so long. To answer your question, I'm not sure if the story added to the Egyptian Air Force article on the Arab Wiki is true. However the article on that war (Libyan–Egyptian War), which coincidentally I also wrote, contains as much information as I found on that border conflict. It's taken from a western book as you can see, and that book doesn't mention any Sukhoi losses on our side, only MiG-21s. Hope that helps you. I was wondering. You seem knowledgeable on copyright laws. What are the copyright conditions for Egyptian photographs of the October War? I desperately need to add images of that war to the Wikipedia. Thanks alot. --Sherif9282 (talk) 01:55, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
Call for Wikipedians in Residence in AfricaHello, I hope you are well and thriving!! WikiAfrica has just put out a call for two Wikipedians in Residence. One in Cape Town at WikiAfrica, at the Africa Centre; and the other for WikiAfrica Cameroon in Douala, at doual’art. If you are interested, please contact either Marilyn [marilyn.doualabelldoualart.org] for the WikiAfrica Cameroon call or Isla [islahfafricacentre.net] for the WikiAfrica position in Cape Town. If you are not interested in applying, I would be very grateful if you could spread this call far and wide among your networks to ensure that both projects get excellent candidates. Here is the link for the information page: http://www.wikiafrica.net/two-wikipedians-in-residence-for-africa/ Best regards, Islahaddow (This message was sent using Lucia Bot at 22:28, 16 November 2012 (UTC)) Hi, ContestsUser:Dr. Blofeld has created Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/Contests. The idea is to run a series of contests/editathons focusing on each region of Africa. He has spoken to Wikimedia about it and $1000-1500 is possible for prize money. As someone who has previously expressed interest in African topics, would you be interested in contributing to one or assisting draw up core article/missing article lists? He says he's thinking of North Africa for an inaugural one in October. If interested please sign up in the participants section of the Contest page, thanks.♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:33, 21 July 2016 (UTC) |
