User talk:Mindfrieze/Archive 1
Welcome!Hello Mindfrieze/Archive 1, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, please be sure to sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, or three tildes (~~~) for just your name. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! -Poli (talk • contribs) 22:52, 2005 July 25 (UTC) Chicago cyclingI see that you're from Chicago; I was born on the south side actually. I have my permanent residence in Frankfort, which is excellent for cycling in the south of Illinois near Joliet. You should take a look at the area. Kallenovsky 09:12, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
Cycling iconI hope you'll forgive the impersonal nature of this note; inasmuch as I've essentially the same message for four editors, I'm copying it to the talk pages of SimonBrooke, Mindfrieze, Guy, and Vclaw. In any event, a discussion was recently undertaken at Portal talk:Cycling as to the image used in Template:Cycling project (which discussion, I should say, seemed to be altogether a good one); acting boldly, and consistent with my idiosyncratic and obsession-driven attempt properly to refactor or format the sundry Portal talk pages, I moved the discussion to Template talk:Cycling project, where such discussion is more likely to invite participation from others interested in the topic). I mean not at all to be indecorous, and so if one of you should revert, I'd certainly understand, especially inasmuch as Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Cycling, another page at which such discussion might belong, seems generally moribund. They told me I could use the pictures in the article as long as they were named. What type of liscense do you suggest for the pictures? Sox23 00:29, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
High ResHey Mindfrieze- Now that I have the correct licenses and authors permission for the MDW pictures you mentioned before that the high resolution pictures would look better. I agree with you and am willing to do it but how do you upload the photos in high resolution? Sox23 00:44, 24 January 2007 (UTC) CHICOTWI see your user name listed as a member of the Wikipedia:WikiProject_Chicago. I do not know if you are aware that we are attempting to revive the CHICOTW. See our results history. We could use additional input in nominating future articles, voting on nominees and editing winning nominees. Should you contribute you will receive weekly notices like the following:

Thanks for uploading Image:Italvega-logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page. If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 10:20, 5 June 2007 (UTC) Replaceable fair use Image:Italvega_super_speciale.jpgThanks for uploading Image:Italvega_super_speciale.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself. If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 17:21, 1 February 2008 (UTC) WP:CHICAGO survey

The response to the project membership survey was strong enough that we should attempt to organize it in a more fully functional way. Please sign up at Wikipedia:CHICAGO/leadership if you would be willing to serve as a leader of the project from September 1, 2008 to February 28, 2009. The various leadership responsibilities are listed there. The roles will be somewhat similar to the roles of Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Coordinators. We are a less mature and developed project than WP:MILHIST however, so our division of roles will be slightly different. Please respond by the 23rd.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 18:52, 15 August 2008 (UTC) Category:Top-importance Chicago articles
For the rest of this month we are looking for more candidates to be promoted to Category:Top-importance Chicago articles. We are hoping to bring the list of category members to a total of 50. Either you have participated in past votes and discussions or you have recently signed up to be a part of WP:CHICAGO. In either case, please come visit Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Chicago/Assessment where we are determining who to add to the September 1st ballot. Some candidate debates have lingered, but there are many new ones from the project's top 50 according to the Wikipedia:Release Version 0.7. Help us determine which pages to add to the ballot.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 04:03, 18 August 2009 (UTC) RestitchWhat is the latest?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 12:02, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for June 28Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited West Indiaman, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Merchantman (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject. It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 08:54, 28 June 2014 (UTC) Recent edit to Chain-link fencingHello. On Wikipedia, we adhere to a neutral point of view (NPOV) and avoid promotional language or puffery. Please read the NPOV policy page, as well as this page of language to avoid to better understand how to expand this article in a style suitable to an encyclopedia.
