Thanks for fixing that Matt, but what did I do wrong??? I just couldn't work it out. WikiTownsvillian 00:52, 23 February 2007 (UTC) Ahhhhhhhh, thank you wise sage. WikiTownsvillian 01:16, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
Hi Matt, My Internet connection has been extremely poor this week which has been preventing me using the media monitor or doing any other substantial online research on Palm, this situation will probably continue over the weekend. Just giving you the heads up that I will probably be unable to do as much as I want to towards the Good article process. Thanks, WikiTownsvillian 07:22, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
Finalisation of entries to Riverina TemplateHi Matt and GW. I have tried to progress systematically across various road maps to include, as far as I can tell most rural community, hamlet, villages and towns within the template. The odd ghost town which is not on a conventional map, for example Mitta Mitta and Brushwood will be found as we travel around looking for photographs. There may be one or two errors which no doubt will be adjusted as we go through and complete articles and additions. However after combing through the maps tonight and double checking all of the names I think the current list is very complete and you might like to use it for basis of the checklists that you have created/are creating both here and on Wiki Commons.--VS talk...images 12:24, 1 February 2007 (UTC) PS Thanks for your message about your table - reply posted at my talk page. --VS talk...images 12:24, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
KapookaHey Matt - I agree wholeheartedly and have already altered the page. I responded on the page with the following message...
Hi Matt - I hope you approve of a major re-write I have completed on our gallery page at Towns of the Riverina, New South Wales. As of today's date there are 251 localities on Template:Riverina. Each of these (as you will see) now has their own images page on Commons and is ready for uploading. (I have almost 200 images to upload which I will attempt to finish over this next week) Regards --VS talk...images 09:57, 4 February 2007 (UTC) Leyland Brothers is the new Australian CollaborationHi. In case you haven't noticed yet, Leyland Brothers has been selected as the new Australian collaboration. Please help to improve it any way you can. --Scott Davis Talk 11:33, 4 February 2007 (UTC) Riverina images
Riverina template question
Where did you grow up?Hey Mattinbgn I notice on your userspace "your" articles are Finley, Berrigan, Toc etc. Where did you grow up? Finley High School graduate by any chance? I grew up in Jerilderie. - UnlimitedAccess 07:33, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
Conargo photo questionHi Matt, UnlimitedAccess has put up a photograph of the Conargo Pub on Commons - at Conargo. The image commons:Image:Photo-conargo-pub.jpg is definitely there but it doesn't show up on the commons:Conargo, New South Wales page - and I have tried a couple of possible remedies without success. I remember you had a similar problem before - can you recall how to fix it? --VS talk...images
Riverina articleI thought of rating it A, but decided that since I'd contributed a little to it that was somebody else's job (and it would have presumably made it ineligible for GA). You should probably nominate it for FA if your willing to put up with the harassment that that involves.--Grahamec 00:08, 10 February 2007 (UTC) I am happy to report File:SoleteRayosÑajo.gif that there are no more redlinks on Template:Riverina. The template is therefore complete (other than for locations that we will stumble upon in the future). --VS talk...images
Locations/Distances - G'day Matt. I have added some thoughts here with regards putting 4 locations and distances up within each info box on localities within the Riverina Template. I would appreciate any comments? --VS talk...images 08:01, 13 February 2007 (UTC) Commons and Riverina taggingHi Matt. I have commons and riverina tagged all articles from A - G. I notice that you are doing the same from the other end. I am about to go out for the evening but I thought I would quickly ask you if I am mistaken. I am putting in the following for the Riverina tagging {{WP Australia|class=Stub|importance=Low|riverina=yes}} thereby not double tagging to Riverina and Australia. Perhaps I am wrong with this thought??? I have gone in and adjusted Yuluma, Yoogali and Yerong Creek - but let me know if I have stuffed this up? --VS talk...images 06:40, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Hi Matt. I went straight to the source (so to speak) to find an answer to this question. Should Riverina towns' talk pages be tagged with both Australian places and Riverina tags? Gnangarra has put his response here which explains things to me. Thanks for the time to clarify. I will go through from A - G to redo the ones I started and then see what is left in the middle (if you get the time to help from the other end?).--VS talk...images 02:04, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
Irrigation ImagesG'day Matt. I have two or three new images regarding irrigation that might be suitable for Riverina - What do you think? Do you want to put up the one or more that you like (if you like any of them at all) or I can - you're call? They are available here:
I seem to have misplaced my Commons password and don't appear to have an email address registered there. Double whammy :( I've also suffered home pc dramas of late, so my archive of Mildura (and irrigation) related images is not readily accessible right now, being on my main pc which is currently out of action. I added an older image of mine to the Irrigation in Australia article just today, of a diesel pump used for irrigation in the Mildura area. Allow me some time to get back to 100% functionality and I'll be certain to jump in with some additions here. -- Longhair\talk 10:51, 2 March 2007 (UTC) Irrigation in AustraliaHi. I've posted info messages to both Portal talk:Water and Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Rivers advising people that there is a proposed collaboration on Irrigation in Australia or similar. You might want to get in first and create one or both of the articles. If you and GW have decided that both should exist, we might have to work out how to split the ACOTF nomination, or have them as co-collaborations. --Scott Davis Talk 00:24, 19 February 2007 (UTC) Wikiinking town namesHi there, I noticed some of your edits... You may be interested to know, there is an automatic feature: [[Minchinbury, New South Wales|]] displays as Minchinbury and links to Minchinbury, New South Wales. The same happens when using an article disambiguated with either a comma, or parentheses such as [[Kevin Ryan (rugby player)|]] which displays as Kevin Ryan and links to Kevin Ryan (rugby player). So it saves a heck of a lot of typing mainly... Hopefully I'm pointing out a feature you didn't know about. Happy contributing.Garrie 10:26, 23 February 2007 (UTC) Hi Matt, soldier settlement schemes directly influenced every state of Australia and have a direct link to irrigation commencement etc. Until today there was no article on Wiki covering the topic. I have started it and have also suggested it to be a WP:ACOTF article - would welcome your support if you think that such an article is appropriate for a collaboration project? --VS talk...images 02:00, 25 February 2007 (UTC) Thanks!Hi, just wanted to say thanks for the welcome and style information. It's good to know there are some friendly kolk around here. Cheers Leigh Irrigation in Australia is new ACOTFHi Matt. Irrigation in Australia has been selected as collaboration of the fortnight. Keep up the good work! --Scott Davis Talk 13:12, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
Late night vandal attacksHowdy Matt - Just letting you and GW know that we have a late night sneak vandal attacking pages under the IP 144.139.221.99 - tonight that person has targetted at least Gundagai and Wikipedia:WikiProject Riverina - just mentioning it so we can all keep our heads up. --VS talk 12:54, 5 March 2007 (UTC) Riverina GA on holdGA on hold — Notes left on talk page. Nehrams2020 07:59, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Yes - I agree - Consider it done - I will take a few of the CSU campus either some time today or tomorrow (I am in the neighbourhood over the next couple of days). I will post the good ones in our Wagga Wagga Commons area and put one up on Riverina in place of the logo. --VS talk 21:22, 6 March 2007 (UTC) Jobs done. I have uploaded new image to Riverina opting for the informative style of pic. However if that is not preferred I will have 6 or 7 others up on Commons and linked to Towns of the Riverina by later this evening. --VS talk 03:18, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
Re: Speedy deletionHi Matt. I saw your message on Golden Wattle's talk page and took care of it. Such patent nonsense meets the criteria for speedy deletion, and you can bring to the attention of administrators by tagging it with TullakoolHey Matt, just to say that's a great new image on Soldier Settlement and a nice find of Tullakool for Riverina.--VS talk 21:22, 12 March 2007 (UTC) GWHave you seen the message on GW's page? Damn shame! --VS talk 21:59, 14 March 2007 (UTC) lgasNo worries, it bugged me that none of the lga maps around showed the names of the shires, municipalities etc. on the map, so I made those --Astrokey44 10:07, 16 March 2007 (UTC) Hi there. I noticed you corrected a link from Captain John Hepburn to John Hepburn. I think you are correct that ideally the link should not include the Captain title, but since John Hepburn links to an article on a different person I think using Captain is the best way to disambiguate it. Wikipedia:Naming conventions (people) says "King", "Queen", "Blessed", "Mother", "Father", "Doctor", "Mister", or any other type of qualifier is generally avoided as first word for a page name of a page on a single person, unless for disambiguation or redirect purposes. I also came across an existing example of a page with Captain in, Captain Walter Synnot. I will change the link back to Captain John Hepburn, if you think this is wrong I'd appreciate if you could explain the naming conventions to me. Thanks --Jon186 15:28, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
Hi there I agree with your sentiment that the MFL is notable - but individual seasons are not. Would you reach the same conclusion regarding individual teams? I have listed North Ballarat Rebels for deletion as a member of the TAC Cup league (that can't even be right - the TAC Cup is a trophy or competition not a league). Depending on outcome I will more than likely group list Murray Bushrangers, Calder Cannons, Geelong Falcons, Western Jets and NSW/ACT Rams (who only joined the comp between 1995 - 2002 the closest result to premiership success being runners up in 1996!) Garrie 04:35, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
Portal PicHey Matt - that's pretty cool - thanks for letting me know. I have been a bit quiet the last couple of days (work and caught some dog's disease) Will get back into it on the weekend. --VS talk 06:10, 22 March 2007 (UTC) Re: DYKHi Matt. No, you haven't broken it. I've stopped displaying DYK on the portal because it was not being updated regularly (something which I don't have the time to do, and which no-one else seems willing to do). --cj | talk 13:09, 23 March 2007 (UTC) Notability of Australian football leagues, clubs and playersMattinbgn, Thank you for your message. The English soccer leagues are Tier-10 and above as that is the eligibility for the FA Cup see Wikipedia talk:Wikiproject Football. I would suggest that we might want to leave a message on the Australian Wikipedians page as well as the AFL Wikiproject. I think that there is a Wikiproject for Australian soccer as well. I don't think that there is for rugby union or rugby league. On an off-hand basis, I would suggest as notability for leagues or clubs:
For players, I would suggest:

Clayton UtzI took a quick glance over the Clayton Utz article. It is rather poor I agree. I've requested sources for most of the claims made within, and also marked the article for immediate attention using the {{WP Australia}} banner. There's a lot of info relating to this firm online so I'll try to wade through some a little later on and see if I can help improve the article to save it from deletion. -- Longhair\talk 03:28, 29 March 2007 (UTC) |
