Since this is a two-in-one DYK nomination, does it require TWO QPS? I'm not sure on multiple DYK nominations - OR is just one QPQ needed? You have more experience, so would have a better idea on this than myself. What if I wanted to do a five-in-one DYK nomination, does it just need ONE (1) QPQ or 5 QPQs????? One review is required for every nominated article. For a double nomination, this could be satisfied by reviewing one other double nom, or two singles. The relevant rule is WP:DYKSG#H4. MANdARAX•XAЯAbИAM00:03, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
I'm glad you made it clear about having a review for every nominated article. I previously then did the reviews prior to nominating the "quintuple" and your two made the number then at five done. I actually reverted them on three articles, even though I sympathized with what they wrote (as one might presume from the MAAA[note 1] banner at the top of this page). Oh, the burden of being a responsible user! I didn't bother warning them, but I thought my conciliatory edit summaries might do more to help prevent them from reinstating their edits than issuing stern warnings. The reviewer, who moved the article, also attempted to fix the template to reflect that move, but did so incorrectly. I've fixed the template, but the transclusion on Talk:Pancho Medrano still shows two incorrect links. I've done a little investigating to try to find the source of the problem, but may not do any more, since I'm not really very motivated – I think that transclusion on an article talk page is annoying, useless clutter. I had been fixing various issues on dozens of nominations. When I noticed your too-long hooks, I left you an edit summary comment rather than a note on the nomination page because I find that once anyone comments, it tends to keep people away, and delays a review. I've tweaked the nom some more, including the removal of the overly long hooks, leaving just the trimmed versions of them. I think that too many hooks can also keep reviewers away. But someone should be along to do the review soon. (You wouldn't want me to do the review, because I tend to be overly picky, and always find things that need fixing.) I had no idea why you were telling me this. Then I saw that I had fixed a typo in Ervaticine, which I guess sort of explains it. I see that you've been doing a lot of redirect work, so I don't know why you didn't just convert Ervaticine into a redirect to Conolidine. If you're sure they're the same, you should do that. Note that there's a discrepancy: the conolidine article says that it was first isolated in 2004, but the ervaticine article has this 1985 ref describing its isolation. I am not sure but thought you are. I found Ervaticine by name in PubChem under article address Conolidine. Ervaticine is between other names but "other names" are not trusty and not unique. There is no data on article Ervaticine that identifies the molekule (IUPAC name, InChI, SMILES) but you must have other sources as me. Often PubChem (and ChemSpider) have separate articles for several stereoisomers and one for molecule without stereo information. There are some samples to this method in wiki too. I thought it might be something like that. That's why I used the edit summary "Portorico is a redirect which is listed as a misspelling of Puerto Rico" (rather than saying something like I was fixing a typo), to indicate that I wasn't convinced it was truly a "misspelling". I had done a quick Googling and couldn't find anything relevant, and I hoped that my edit summary would draw the attention of someone knowledgeable, which it did. So thank you, Viking1808, for that. I have edited the Portorico redirect: it used to have {{R from misspelling}}, which I changed to {{R from historic name}}. I will leave it to you to decide which is better in Bendix Lasson Bille: leave it Puerto Rico, restore it to Portorico (now that it's no longer listed as a misspelling, people will be less likely to "fix" it), or pipe [[Puerto Rico|Portorico]]. EEng, I just wanted to explain why I undid your addition to my user page. While I appreciate the sentiment, my page should reflect my own feelings, and at this point, I don't think Trump should resign. It would've been great any previous time in his term, but by now I'd much rather see him suffer the humiliation of a resounding defeat at the polls (assuming he's unable to sufficiently suppress voting), plus the added humiliation of having to be removed by military force when he refuses to leave office. No problem, I just grabbed the opportunity as inspiration struck. And I agree with you completely, though best of all, really, would be 25th Amendment with Pence leading the charge. Slow asphyxiation by Covid would be pretty good too – Biblical, really. So, in order, my thinking would be: (1) 25A (followed by (2) of course); (2) electoral landslide w/ Senate; (3) slow asphyxiation by Covid; (4) resign. Probably Stabbed through heart by Melania while she yells "Get off me you grotesque slug" should be in there too but I can't decide where exactly it belongs in the hierarchy. I see in Special:Diff/966738268 you removed a transclusion of User:AnomieBOT/Auto-G8 from Bring-Gerrard form, with a comment "I don't think this is necessary". FYI, AnomieBOT adds that template to redirects it creates for en-dashed titles because without it people were wasting time and effort taking them to WP:RFD when deletion is a foregone conclusion and WP:CSD#G8 could apply. If we assume Bring–Gerrard form will never be deleted then true, it's unnecessary, but at the same time it doesn't hurt anything for it to be there. Also of note is that AnomieBOT will replace it if it ever has to update the target of Bring-Gerrard form to match Bring–Gerrard form. Anomie⚔22:15, 8 July 2020 (UTC)
Anomie, It's not true that "it doesn't hurt anything for it to be there". I removed it because I work on cleaning out Wikipedia:Database reports/Linked misspellings, and I finally got tired of having to skip over Bring–Gerrard form every single day litterally forever (i.e., almost a month, since you edited the template). I didn't notice until now that it had most recently been edited by a human; I thought your bot had done it. I had read over the template documentation before removing it, and it didn't seem relevant here. G8 doesn't seem to apply without major contortions. While obviously related, the hyphen redirect is not dependent on the en dash version except, apparently, in the way your bot treats it. It points exactly where it should, regardless of where the other one points, or whether it even exists. If the en dash one were deleted, and I certainly don't know why that would ever happen, the hyphen version could still conceivably stick around – it's the more useful one, because it's much more likely to be typed in. (Anyone attentive enough to use the en dash may be more likely to spell it correctly too.)Anyways, I really don't care about any of that. All I'm interested in regarding the matter is that the "Linked misspellings" page not be polluted with permanent, irrelevant entries that can't ever be fixed without removing that template. Can the template be changed so it doesn't link to the misspelled redirect? As it is now, any time it's used for a misspelled redirect, it will be a constant source of irritation for everybody who patrols the "Linked misspellings" page. If the en-dash-using redirect were to be deleted, there's basically no chance that the exact same reasoning would apply to the ASCII-hyphen-using redirect. After exactly that happened multiple times, I created that template and had the bot start creating it. I later came across {{R avoided double redirect}}, which covers redirects needing update rather than only those needing deletion.I fear that your zeal to clear out that one report may have negative effects, as it will preclude using templates like {{User:AnomieBOT/Auto-G8}} and {{R avoided double redirect}} to track redirects that need to be updated when their nominal targets change. There's no way to change these templates/modules to avoid links, as that's how MediaWiki tracks when a page needs to be updated due to an edit to another page. It would probably be better to see if the bot creating your report can ignore links that are due to these templates. Anomie⚔13:06, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
The problem isn't my "zeal". There are other entries on the list that I accept as items I have to skip over for various reasons. The problem is the faulty documentation on the template (as well as its name), which only says that it's used for applying a G8. I only removed it from the redirect because it seemed inapplicable. I'm sure there are some people who agree that G8 could be contorted to this use, but there are certainly people who agree with me that it's not applicable. If the documentation had used something like G6, and, more importantly, had mentioned that the template is also used for updating the redirect when the target changes, I never would've removed it. G6 is also arguable, as the situation or anything like it is not described there as an example of uncontroversial maintenance. So to avoid arguments over whether G8 and/or G6 is valid I have the resulting CSD request mention all three of G8, G6, and G7. Personally I find most convincing the argument that since for R→T then R will be G8-ed if T is deleted, then the same should apply for R→T1→T2 (which becomes R→T2 after avoiding the double redirect) when T1 is deleted. Update: I said above that there were other unfixable entries on the list that I had to skip over, but there currently are not any others. I don't really care, even though I consider the template's use there to be of questionable usefulness at best (who's gonna go around deleting perfectly plausible redirects?), but ... whatever.... Yes, I wasn't convinced that G6 would exactly be applicable, which is why I said "something like G6", but it's more of an umbrella criterion, so, I still think, certainly better than G8.What the bot should do instead of adding the template is monitor a list kept in its user space, and if a redirect on the list gets deleted, change the other redirect to point to the deleted one, and do a G8, which would then actually be applicable. I did not revert your change. If you check, you'll see that most of your addition was still there. I didn't realize that it was an acceptable British spelling. I thought someone had accidentally added an incorrect partial correction of the spelling, and there seemed no point in listing a version of the word that differed from the correct one being redirected to. I had almost changed the redirect to point to Sulfur (disambiguation). That seemed (and still seems) like the best redirect target; I only left it as is because the dab page is just one click away via the hatnote on Sulfur. I had gone through and fixed all of the pages that linked to Sulpher, and most of them were not typos at all – they intended to link to the correctly spelled band Sulpher (featuring Rob Holliday). Yes, Mollifiednow, it can be confusing for newcomers. The proper way to insert your nomination into WP:DYKN is to add {{Did you know nominations/Walter Mears}} under the date when creation or expansion began. I took care of that for you. Now, you need to add one or more hooks to your nomination. A hook will be an interesting fact from the article. For example: ... that Walter Mears compared Donald Trump to Huey Long, citing historical comparisons? I haven't read the article; I just took a very quick glance, and that one jumped out at me. Just checked, the government of Ireland, UK and the EU use the "s" spelling, given Hungary is in the EU, I think that means we should use the "s" spelling in an EU related article. I may be wrong in this interpretation, though. Boynamedsue (talk) 22:55, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
Loved the little fixes on this article. I am not a native English speaker and definitely not a "writer", and such things often keep eluding me. After making 800+ edits to the article, and some help from the copyediting team, I still can moan and groan about the copy. Can you, if you have some time to waste, do some more of the stuff you did for that article?
The biggest motherload of s**t the article is sitting on right now is the cite formats. Nowhere near the MOS. I positively feel that the burden of fixing them would be upon my poor self. The icon indicates that it's been approved. It could take quite a while until it makes it to the Main Page. Keep the nom page watchlisted, and you'll see when the nomination is closed and one of the hooks is added to a Prep area; there you can see in the "Local update times" when it'll tentatively be scheduled to run. The hook may be edited and/or moved to a different prep, before it's moved to a queue, until it eventually hits the Main Page. When it does, a bot will issue a credit to your talk page (as well as the article's talk page). MANdARAX•XAЯAbИAM20:56, 15 September 2020 (UTC)

I hadn't seen it before. I would guess that it might become common as users try to push Wikidata. I hope people don't go around changing existing infoboxes, but I bet one day a bot will do just that. I see the advantage, in that articles in every Wikilanguage will use the same data, so it could potentially prevent some errors. The good thing is that {{Infobox person/Wikidata}} will accept the usual parameters to override or supplement the default ones supplied by Wikidata. So you didn't have to change the image on Wikidata – you could've added an |image= parameter to the infobox. Or, if you meant links to the many times I've fixed it over the years, I'll leave that as an exercise for you to undertake; unfortunately, my edit summary is usually just "Fix typo", so that wouldn't be an easy undertaking.I guess when I label things I fix as typos, it's AGF-ish, as most of the ones I fix are probably words the misspeller actually doesn't know how to spell, rather than something they just mistyped.While I have your attention, I'll note that it appears that your scenario number 3 may be happening. My typos
Re this edit: Yes, I make typos, lots of them. It's something to do with the way my brain works. My practice with these shipwreck lists is that when I get to the end of researching through newspapers for each year, I go back the the January list and check through for obvious errors such as malformed entries, redlinks that should be blue links, etc. I then work through Feb - Dec similarly before starting the splitting of the list for the next year. Obviously I fix any typos I spot as and when I spot them. Don't get stressed over fixing typos, they are not deliberate. Mjroots (talk) 05:20, 7 October 2020 (UTC)

(Hmmmmm, if one is deliberately misspelling something, then they have a typo, the word may end up spelled correctly....) I actually had no idea who was making the typo. I just knew whenever the typo "United Kingdom of Great Britian and Ireland" showed up, that when I checked "What links here", it would always be a shipwreck article.[update 1] So I was pretty sure it was the same person doing it over and over and over, but I never cared enough to check any histories to see who it was.The purpose of my edit summary was threefold: 1) I figured that whoever kept making the same mistake time and time again was probably copying and pasting from something with the misspelling, and I thought they might see the summary and fix whatever they were copying from. 2) I like to use the word I coined, "litterally", whenever I can, in hopes that it will catch on. 3) I also liked the juxtaposition of fixing a typo while using an edit summary word which the uninitiated may erroneously think is itself a typo. Ah, well, they say one should never assume, and my assumption was wrong. I imagine the repeated typo may be the result of some kind of muscle memory. I know that whenever I try to type "think", I usually end up typing "thing". I agree that misspelled redirects are often not very helpful since they prevent a redlink which would otherwise reveal a typo. And you don't catch the typo when you proofread the rendered page because you pipe it to a correct spelling. In that sense, it's not that important to fix the piped misspelling, but according to WP:DOFIXIT one shouldn't link to a misspelled redirect, so I do go around fixing 'em. Yes, it's amazing that America will be America again. On January 20, I won't have to be embarrassed about being American any more. I thought I came up with the "Make America American Again" slogan, but I just found out that Biden had apparently used it on at least one occasion. It turns out that Ted Kennedy and Anita Hill had also used it, and even Langston Hughes used a similar phrase 85 years ago, which John Kerry quoted. My feelings about Trump leaving office.I'm afraid I must disagree with those who are attempting to prevent him from running for office again. He couldn't win, even if the Republican Party were foolish enough to make him their candidate again. But, instead of an extremely unlikely Republican nomination, his option would be to create his own party. Besides, Republicans have hurt his precious feelings anyways, so he has no need for them any more. I would love to see him run as a third party candidate. He would siphon off a substantial number of Republican voters, thus ensuring a Democratic win. This reasoning applies not only to the Presidential race in 2024, but also Marco Rubio's Florida Senate seat, which will be up for election in 2022. (Note that the latter applies only if he's a third party candidate. He would win in Florida as the Republican nominee. I don't think he reads my talk page; otherwise I'd worry about WP:BEANS.)
