User talk:MagmagirlHi Magmagirl, and welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you've been working on the list of requested pictures. While work there is certainly appreciated, you should be aware that only free images are allowed on Wikipedia -- it looks like you're grabbing pictures from various websites, which is not allowed without specific consent, as those websites own the copyright to those pictures. I suggest you read about Wikipedia's copyright policies for images at Wikipedia:Copyrights. -Bantman 21:52, 12 January 2006 (UTC) I'm putting the following notice as required by the copyright problems guidelines: Copyright problems with Image:Pink diamonds.jpg An image that you uploaded, Image:Pink diamonds.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems because it is a suspected copyright violation. Image Tagging Image:WADE.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:WADE.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 16:53, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
Wade KellerOkay, with the page semi-protected now most of your problems should be taken care of. I will still keep an eye on the page to make sure that everything continues to go smoothly. English helpHeyo, I'm in the midst of a mediation where I believe there might be a misunderstanding of the English language. Since you're registered as able to contribute on a pro. level of English [1] I figured I'll ask your input on the situation. Start here and explore the page from there. [2] Thank you. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Browniemcghee.jpgThanks for uploading Image:Browniemcghee.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page. If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:58, 12 February 2008 (UTC) May 2009Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Wikipedia about living persons, as you did to Wade Keller. You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template. Non-free imagesPlease stop re-adding File:Hope Diamond US Mail parcel-1958.jpg to registered mail. Perhaps you are not familiar with the non-free content criteria whereby all non-free image must have a fair-use rationale for each and every use and there is none for this use and I doubt a justification can be made. Besides which all 10 criteria must be complied with and this one easily fail others, particularly #8 because it is not necessary to use this image non-free image to understand that the Hope Diamond was sent by registered mail. ww2censor (talk) 19:19, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
Your comment on my "popular culture" sectionI am actually a little amused that you would compare The Valley of Fear by Arthur Conan Doyle -- a Sherlock Holmes novel -- to trifling references from Family Guy and Pokemon. Not all popular culture is irrelevant or insignificant. Try to look at context. --Magmagirl (talk) 19:09, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Hope Diamond revamp in a sandbox hereYou wrote a while back that the article was in need of a revamp, so as part of the US Collaboration of the Month I worked on it. Seeking your views about the revamp. Also I have questions on the discussion page of the Hope Diamond article talk page. Up until a week ago I might have guessed the Hope Diamond was one of Neil Diamond's children.--Tomwsulcer (talk) 01:13, 12 July 2011 (UTC) Hi, User category proposed deletionYou may be interested in Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2021 August 21#Category:Wikipedians who know where their towel is.
