Thanks for mentoring!(Just practising my headings... interesting that with no heading, the text was sitting ABOVE your contents box, but now I've put a heading it, it drops below...ooh and I see it now features in the table of contents. Aha...). Thanks for the extra advice, I'll follow that up. Jumping in on the training in Glasgow would be awesome if do-able. I can probably persuade work to pay for it as CPD if that helps. If it's a goer, you could email me at work http://www.scottishathletics.org.uk/staff/sue-gyford/ - thanks again! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Suegyford (talk • contribs) 11:58, 24 June 2015 (UTC) Thanks so much for the inspiration. I already have two Qs!
--Taps mic-- is this how I do it?! Thanks for the inspiration and the encouragement. Wondering whether I should have signed up with a username that wasn't my real name as it doesn't seem very common, but it's done now! Suegyford (talk) 17:54, 19 June 2015 (UTC) Thank you so much. I enjoyed so much yesterday and it was really helpful. Looking forward to participating in the upcoming wiki events. The Editathon at Riverside Museum sounds interesting! Excalibur (talk) 14:55, 7 April 2015 (UTC) The Editathon Hi, What exactly is it? The reason I'm asking for the reason that most of my articles takes ages to write due to the amount of research I need to undertake, and I wonder what value is in it, apart from meeting up with fellow Wikipedians, which would be cool. scope_creep (talk) 19:35, 8 April 2015 (UTC) The Editathon I have worked with one of the Glasgow Fairs between 2003 and 2010 and have lots of useful and relevant pictures, but I am finding the effort of validating photography on the Wikimedia project rather tiresome. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:29, 16 April 2015 (UTC) Scottish Fairground Culture editathonThanks for letting me know about the editathon, but I'm relatively experienced in editing (at least to the stage of not needing 'howto'-type training). I also don't have any particular knowledge of fairground culture, so I would be unlikely to be able to contribute to any significant degree! This grant has been approved in pilot form, and the Ada Initiative is running an Ally Skills Workshop at Wikimania 2015. The workshop will be on Thursday July 16 from 2pm to 5pm in Don Diego 3. If you are attending Wikimania, you are invited to apply to the Ally Skills Workshop! Space is limited and we may not be able to accept all applications, so apply now. More information, including a link to the application form, is here: Ally Skills Workshop description and application form People of all genders are welcome to attend. Unfortunately, travel scholarships for Wikimania are already closed and we don't know of any other sources of travel funding. If you know anyone else attending Wikimania who might be interested in attending this workshop, please encourage them to apply! Gatoclass (talk) 13:36, 24 July 2015 (UTC) The CombatDoes "Wikimedian-in-Residence at Museums Galleries Scotland" include the Scottish National Gallery? If so, do you think you could see if they have any better quality images of The Combat: Woman Pleading for the Vanquished they could be persuaded to release? The painting in question has been marinating in Edinburgh's pollution for two centuries and it shows; the varnish is so dark, our article needs to have an engraving alongside it to serve as a "this is what you're seeing" guide. Hopefully, they might have an older photo floating around somewhere where the colours are actually visible. (If not, it's not a disaster; the current compromise seems to work.) – iridescent 09:42, 7 August 2015 (UTC)

Five minutes to help make WikiProjects betterHello! First, on behalf of WikiProject X, thank you for trying out the WikiProject X pilot projects. I would like to get some anonymous feedback from you on your experience using the new WikiProject layout and tools. This way, we will know what we did right, and if we did something horribly wrong, we can try to fix it. This feedback won't be associated with your username, so please be completely honest. We are determined to improve the experience of Wikipedians, and your feedback helps us with that. (You are also welcome to leave non-anonymous feedback at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject X.) Please complete the survey here. The survey has two parts: the first part asks for your username, while the second part contains the survey questions. These two parts are stored separately, so your username will not be associated with your feedback. There are only nine questions and it should not take very long to complete. Once you complete the survey I will leave a handwritten note on your talk page as a token of my appreciation. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you, Harej (talk) 17:49, 2 September 2015 (UTC)

A few tipsHi Lirazelf. It's great to see all the progress you have been making in attracting new editors to Wikipedia. Your recent editathon at the Glasgow School of Art seems to have been pretty successful. As you have no doubt noticed, I have looked through some of the biographies created and would like to make some suggestions for the future. I noticed some of the articles had been tagged for plagiarism. This could have been avoided if the information from the school archives had been paraphrased or combined with information from other sources. In each biography, it would also have helped to state the main claim to notability in the lead, together with dates of birth and death (as is common practice in biographies). In adding categories, don't forget to include dates of birth and death as well as main occupation(s) and other areas of interest. If this cannot be achieved in the first draft on the main space, then it may be useful for new users to leave their articles in a sandbox until they have reached a minimum level of acceptability. I know how discouraging it can be for newbies to see their first article is subject to deletion as soon as it has been created. This said, I found most of the new articles were interesting to read and worthwhile including in Wikipedia. I hope most of those who participated will be encouraged to continue editing Wikipedia. If I can be of any assistance, please let me know.--Ipigott (talk) 09:39, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
Help us improve wikimeets by filling in the UK Wikimeet survey!Hello! I'm running a survey to identify the best way to notify Wikimedians about upcoming UK wikimeets (informal, in-person social meetings of Wikimedians), and to see if we can improve UK wikimeets to make them accessible and attractive to more editors and readers. All questions are optional, and it will take about 10 minutes to complete. Please fill it in at: Thanks! Mike Peel (talk) 17:57, 20 September 2015 (UTC) You're invited!
