Hey, I'm sorry but I'm wondering. If you make a request for checkuser, does an admin do it or do you have to install checkuser yourself? Cheers,JetLover(talk)21:49, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You deleted the information I provided on academic freedom in connection with the Ward Churchill controversy. You gave no explanation for the deletion. I reversed your deletion, and am requesting that we discuss prior to wholesale deletions of pertinent data. --tortdog20:23, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

First off, thanks for all your efforts in the article for Augustus, I am shooting for GA status soon, and eventually FA status for the article. Oh, and I just moved your recently added picture down a few paragraphs since there was a bunch of text without a pic beside it, and there was already a large pic hovering directly above the one you just added. You can change it back the way it was if you don't like it. Personally, I think it looks better this way, since the images aren't stacked.--Pericles of AthensTalk21:11, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's a very good question, unfortunately I do not know the answer either. Hopefully it will pop up somewhere in my reading, but there's a mountain of text to read in the books I have at hand, and it may take a while to find, if found at all.--Pericles of AthensTalk21:31, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Laura,
I was wondering if you had a copy of Platt's book on HMC, The First Twenty Years. I got a copy over the Summer and am interested in digesting some of it for the HMC wiki page. What do you think?Eharley16:26, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

in a free publication I am putting together for the Delaware Dept. of Agriculture. It is a booklet educating farmers about how to manage their farms for native pollinators. The initial print run will be 5,000 copies and it will be distributed free of charge and made available as a PDF document on the web. I am not able to comply strictly with the GNU license terms, so wanted to ask your direct permission to use the photo. Please respond and let me know if you grant me permission for this one-time usage.
Laura - the credit will appear in the photo credits section at the end of the booklet, and I will be sure to send you the link once we get it up online. Thank you for your help

Could I ask a favor? Could you please look over action potential and see if it explains everything OK? I'm not worried yet about MoS stuff, just whether the article is intelligible to smart people like you, and has a reasonably logical order of presentation. :) Of course, if you had any other suggestions, I'd be grateful for those as well. Thanks muchly! Willow (talk) 23:17, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Laura,
We've been working on action potential pretty diligently, and it might be at Featured Article quality. Would you have time to read through the article and see if you agree? If you do, please vote Keep at its FAR; otherwise, if you could give us some ideas of what you'd like improved, that's be great. Thanks and thanks, Willow (talk) 18:54, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

On 2008-06-25, the WikiProject Physics participant list was rewritten from scratch as a way to remove all inactive participants, and to facilitate the coordination of WikiProject Physics efforts. The list now contains more information, is easier to browse, is visually more appealing, and will be maintained up to date.
I have proposed a rename of the Commons category [Category:Baraboo] to Category:Baraboo, Wisconsin in order to become consistent with the naming convention used with all of the other cities in Wisconsin. That system was developed because there may be more than one Baraboo in the world. You asked to be notified here on the English Wikipedia. Royalbroil02:32, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The subject is not notable, discussing an obscure party game, and the writers have been unable to find any references to justify notability requirements for some time.
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Hi Laura, though it's already >3 years that you moved File:Chihuly Chandelier close-up.jpg to Commons, only now someone discovered that this image only qualifies under "fair use", but that is not allowed on Commons. As the original image seems to have been removed from :en, I strongly recommend you to upload the image again under "fair use" to :en, before it is (soon) deleted from Commons. --Túrelio (talk) 22:40, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia Signpost — February 23, 2009
This week, the Wikipedia Signpost published volume 5, issue 8, which includes these articles:
Under the "Japanese rock garden" entry, you posted a lovely photo from the Portland Japanese Gardens. I understand that the image has a free documentation license, which is why I was hoping to include it in an academic article that I'm publishing. I wanted to know if you would like to be credited as the photographer, and if so, how you would like your name to appear. Jfillerup (talk) 19:43, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The year 2011 has brought many changes to the State of Colorado. We have a new Governor and other state officers, two new U.S. Representatives, many new state legislators, and a new Mayor of Denver. WikiProject Colorado is updating many Colorado articles. Many Colorado places, people, and organizations need new articles. Portal:Colorado needs new featured articles.
I am doing a small book about the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. Growing up in Cody, Wy I have had a love affair with the canyon for most of my life and have several photos of my own. As a former elementary teacher I like to show different views from other. In the resources section of the book I would like to include one of your photos. I will certainly give you the credit for it. Thank you, Becky64.184.237.112 (talk) 21:16, 22 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The symbol in the lower right hand corner of the copper plate on the marker is the Toll Family "signature" -- "T" over the "O" over the double "L" "L". Henry W. Toll Jr. sponsored the marker. Research is underway to validate the inscription on the marker.
I am curious about the photograph you uploaded to the Commons of a World War I bombsight. I believe this is not an image of a bombsight per se, but camera set up for evaluating bombing precision. A sort of meter to see if the bomb aimer was using their bombsight correctly. Do you have any additional information on the photo? Maury Markowitz (talk) 17:55, 12 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the communityHERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.
So a few things about the interviews:
Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.
Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your nameHERE instead.
If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.
Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.
Hi Laura,
You have submitted a photo on the Wikipedia Curtiss Jenny page of a military Jenny #75. I would like to know more about that photo and if I may include it in a documentary that I am doing on the Jenny. I would like to know more about the photo and see if you have a higher resolution copy.

Round 1 is now over. The top 64 scorers have progressed to round 2, where they have been randomly split into eight pools of eight. At the end of April, the top two from each pool, as well as the 16 highest scorers from those remaining, will progress to round 3. Commiserations to those eliminated; if you're interested in still being involved in the WikiCup, able and willing reviewers will always be needed, and if you're interested in getting involved with other collaborative projects, take a look at the WikiWomen's Month discussed below.
Round 1 saw 21 competitors with over 100 points, which is fantastic; that suggests that this year's competition is going to be highly competative. Our lower scores indicate this, too: A score of 19 was required to reach round 2, which was significantly higher than the 11 points required in 2012 and 8 points required in 2011. The score needed to reach round 3 will be higher, and may depend on pool groupings. In 2011, 41 points secured a round 3 place, while in 2012, 65 was needed. Our top three scorers in round 1 were:
Miyagawa (submissions), primarily for an array of did you knows and good articles, some of which were awarded bonus points.
Casliber (submissions), due in no small part to Canis Minor, a featured article awarded a total of 340 points. A joint submission with Keilana (submissions), this is the highest scoring single article yet submitted in this year's competition.
Other contributors of note include:
Sven Manguard (submissions), whose Portal:Massachusetts is the first featured portal this year. The featured portal process is one of the less well-known featured processes, and featured portals have traditionally had little impact on WikiCup scores.
Featured topics have still played no part in this year's competition, but once again, a curious contribution has been offered by The C of E (submissions): did you know that there is a Shit Brook in Shropshire? With April Fools' Day during the next round, there will probably be a good chance of more unusual articles...
March sees the WikiWomen's History Month, a series of collaborative efforts to aid the women's history WikiProject to coincide with Women's History Month and International Women's Day. A number of WikiCup participants have already started to take part. The project has a to-do list of articles needing work on the topic of women's history. Those interested in helping out with the project can find articles in need of attention there, or, alternatively, add articles to the list. Those interested in collaborating on articles on women's history are also welcome to use the WikiCup talk page to find others willing to lend a helping hand. Another collaboration currently running is an an effort from WikiCup participants to coordinate a number of Easter-themed did you know articles. Contributions are welcome!
A few final administrative issues. From now on, submission pages will need only a link to the article and a link to the nomination page, or, in the case of good article reviews, a link to the review only. See your submissions' page for details. This will hopefully make updating submission pages a little less tedious. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send.
