The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization. Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly. Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Jthorp72. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: Full disclosure - I do work for a marketing services company, but none of the edits I've done thus far have been paid for nor am I affiliated with them in any way. My interest in providing edits has been two fold: 1) Correcting obvious incorrect information to make Wikipedia more accurate and 2) Gaining experience for the platform so I can better serve my clients in the future. Several of our clients over the last couple of years have asked about getting a Wikipedia entry, so I partly dove into Wikipedia further to see how it works and if they qualified. What I found in nearly all cases is they didn't have the proper third-party attribution to qualify and I advised them not to pursue it until they met such qualification. Recently, we did have a client show interest, and they do have the proper third-party new source attention that would make them worthy of a page. So I've offered to work with them - free of charge - to help establish a page for them. Thus my further questions about what's right and what's wrong in doing so. I see this as a great opportunity to gain experience with Wikipedia, thus why I'm not charging them for this time. But since they are a current client of our company for other tasks, would that be seen as "indirect" payment? And if that's the case, my employer is the agency I work for - not my client - so would I need to identify only my affiliation with my employer or also my client?
