Dow Lohnes Law Firm I’m attempting to locate an obituary or surviving family of Fred Albertson. My hope is to learn more about Fred and his accomplishments in radio.

Fred was an Univ. of Michigan law grad but during his time in Ann Arbor, Fred was an active ham radio operator. Fred’s notes, in our historical library, show that Fred was instrumental in maintaining radio contact with both the Greater Rockford and Col. McCormacks Untin Bowler. Both planes failed in their attempts to fly from Illinois to Germany.

Fred also had frequents radio contacts with Admiral Byrd during his expedition of Antarctica and with Prof. Hobbs expedition of Greenland during the late 1920’s.

Again, I would like to write about his vast accomplishments with radio and hope that I could be directed to a family member for further research. — Preceding unsigned comment added by UM Radio (talkcontribs) 22:51, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I did not know Fred Albertson personally and have no information on his surviving family. You might follow up with the Library of American Broadcasting at the University of Maryland. Also, worldradiohistory.com is a worthwhile research site. Johnwellsking (talk) 00:12, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Graham87. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that you unlinked one or more redlinks from Piano pedals. Redlinks are useful and can often be helpful, so we don't remove them just because they are red. They help improve Wikipedia by attracting editors to create needed articles.

In addition, clicking on the "What links here" link (in the tools listed at the left in desktop view) on a missing article shows how many—and which—articles depend on that article being created. This can help prioritize article creation. Please only remove a redlink if you are pretty sure that it is to a non-notable topic and not likely ever to be created. Thanks! Thanks for the note and good recommendation, which I will abide. Johnwellsking (talk) 14:00, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Great work!

Brilliant work on all those Nelson Riddle albums! I've loved listening to his arrangments over the years, the incremental layering and the brassy bombast. Genius. Thank you so much. No Swan So Fine (talk) 08:24, 1 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. Riddle deserves all the notoriety and credit he can get. In many respects he was deprived of it in his lifetime. For me it's a true labor of love. Johnwellsking (talk) 12:43, 1 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I created Phil Silvers and Swinging Brass and listened to it on Spotify, some lovely moments. No Swan So Fine (talk) 08:56, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Outstanding! I acquired a used LP of the Swinging Brass years ago; a rare Riddle gem. In the article, I changed the link of the sitcom to point to the 1956 TV show, not the 1996 movie. Johnwellsking (talk) 12:50, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Serial commas

Hi John, re your edits to Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel: I like serial commas too, but Wikipedia has no official guidance about them and they shouldn't be added or removed for the sake of it.
