User talk:Johnny Au/Archive1
You are invited to join a WikiProject!Hi Johnny Au, First of all, welcome to Wikipedia. I, hereby, representing other members of WP:GHR, would want you to join our project named Golden Horseshoe Roads. (Read the article Golden Horseshoe if you don't know what it means). Click here to read our project's scope, and our participants. What we are currently doing is to create road articles, York Regional Roads and Peel Regional Roads for now. In the near future, we will be expanding our project, so that the scope includes creating articles of, not just roads, but communities, landmarks, and structures around the Golden Horseshoe. I have reviewed your contributions, and find you have a great potential. If you do want to join the project, and we hope so you do, please inform me, and I will tell you what to do next. Smcafirst | Chit-Chat posted at 21:32, 9 March 2007 (UTC) WikiProject Golden Horseshoe Roads, Outreach Department WikiProject TemplateHi again, it's me, Smcafirst. Well, I added {{Golden Horseshoe Roads}} on your user page, so we will know you are one of our member. Okay? Smcafirst | Chit-Chat posted at 20:51, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
WP:GHR issuesHi Johnny Au, As part of our WP:GHR campaign, from now on, every article you create/edit/view that is related to our porject's scope, please add the template {{Component Golden Horseshoe Roads}}, and notify me, and then I will rate that particular article. It is also a nice idea to start putting this template in articles where landmarks are introduced. (i.e. Splendid China Tower??) We will be expanding our project soon enough, so that everything in the Golden Horseshoe will be covered. Thanks for joining! Smcafirst | Chit-Chat posted at 21:33, 19 March 2007 (UTC) WP:GHR UpdateEnclosed is a map of census divisions (so, counties/ regions / cities), and colour coded to show how are we doing in different parts of the Golden Horseshoe, and how much articles are written. Over the summer, I will create another similar one. The white parts of the map means that we will start to work on these areas, after the expansion of the project. (So, that is, after the creation of WP:QCWC (WikiProject Quebec City-Windsor Corridor). Smcafirst 19:24, 29 June 2007 (UTC) Golden Horseshoe SourcesMy source is the article for Guelph, where it says the Metro population is 200,425. Looking at the articles for other cities on the list such as Barrie, Toronto, and Hamilton, the metro populations are exactly the same as the ones used on the golden horseshoe article. There is also a source for this information in the first paragraph of the Guelph article. If we need sources on both the Guelph and Golden Horseshoe pages for the same information, let me know and I will gladly put the source into that article as well. I just don't understand why all the other cities have metro numbers listed but Guelph uses a city proper number. Thanks for your input. --71.199.196.64 05:21, 14 July 2007 (UTC) Also, I have been a member of Wikipedia for some time now and you can see my contributions under the user name Barinade2151. --71.199.196.64 05:29, 14 July 2007 (UTC) Thanks. 199.64.0.252 20:27, 6 August 2007 (UTC) Re: Toronto Meetup
Upgraded commentsHello. I would appreciate it if you didn't upgrade my comments or anyone else's[1]. My choice of template was deliberate - there are first level user notices for a reason. User notices are also used in relation to whether the user has seen them, not how many edits they have made. Thanks. -- zzuuzz (talk) 17:16, 5 September 2007 (UTC) Additionally, please do not warn users and sign a user name other than your own as you did here [2]. Want a coach?Hello. I noticed your request for a coach over at Admin coaching, and I'm available. Keep in mind that I'm not an admin - I've been through 3 intense RfAs (so far), and therefore I understand the process well, though I have not yet overcome the stigma of conflicts I was engaged in early in my participation here (which occurred over a year ago, also, if you want to see what not to do in an RfA, see my first two). But I am an admin coach, and have co-coached 5 users who have become admins, 4 of whom I co-nominated for adminship in their successful RfAs, and strongly endorsed the other as her admin coach. I have experience over a wide range of activities, and I'd say my general approach is progressive and direct. If you do not currently have an admin coach, I would be glad to be your coach. I do have a few conditions though, and they are that you...
Please let me know if you agree, and we can get started. I look forward to your reply. The Transhumanist 05:56, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

Malinaccier (talk) 00:10, 28 January 2008 (UTC) ResponseIf entries have in any way been of offence, my apologies. In Retro Magazine is not currently supported by advertising -- it is a form of alternative media, and inserted listings/links were placed only among those made by other media as well. Specifically, the sites that references/links were posted to were listings of the media pertinent to those cities... where media listings were already present. Our regional magazine/media legitimately qualifies as being part of those listings. This is not advertising - but a fair balance of information. This is not spam, but rather showing the world that alternatives do exist aside from the typical mainstream media. I believe this information was wrongfully removed. Advertising is not my intent. If you read the articles in the magazine, you'll see that nothing is being sold. It is merely a medium of information. Is Wikipedia not a place where people go to learn about what exists – and by blocking relevant information is it tampering with the truth? MARTA editsThanks for your recent edits to the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority. I found it interesting to learn about another transit system which does not receive state/provincial support, and I think this is relevant to the MARTA article. My concern is that you didn't add a citation for the information. I also checked Toronto Transit Commission but couldn't find any references either for this statement. While I don't doubt that the TTC doesn't receive provincial funding, I don't have any evidence MARTA is second--maybe there is another Canadian system larger than MARTA? I hate to be so picky about the references but I am getting the MARTA article ready for a FA nomination in about 1 month and I want to make sure everything is in order. If you give me a reference I would be happy to add it to the article. AfD nomination of GrabertisingAn editor has nominated Grabertising, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Grabertising and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. FYI: After 4 spam warnings, it's time to blacklist a domain. Blocks seldom stop a spammer who ignore 4 warnings -- they just switch IPs or user names. Blacklisting, by contrast, usually shuts them down for keeps. Feel free to bring spam like Raptors to Wikiproject Spam for investigation (to see if other domains are being spammed by the same site-owner) and potential blacklisting. Canadian University Rankings linkIf you think the Canadian University Rankings article shouldn't be in wikipedia then address that with the admin. It is a legitimate article and as such it is legitimate to add it as a link in another article. That is not my personal analysis. Your's perhaps is to remove the link since you go to U of T but that link is encyclopedic and represents part of the unadulterated encyclopedic facts about rankings that are being used in the U of T article. Please do not remove it again as that constitutes a violation of the unbiased access to factual information that wikipedia is based on. Cyril2006

I was referring to my laziness of not signing in. You left a message at my ip address from not signing in. You mentioned about my edits to Toronto FC. Kingjeff (talk) 02:41, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
But anyways, my version of what should be is left on the talk page. I don't think anyone has responded, eventhough a revert happened after I left a message. Essentially, Canadian Championship should have it's own line from other matches. Having "other matches" is ambiguous. Because what constitutes other matches? Kingjeff (talk) 03:01, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Not really. Other matches would be anything that is not MLS, playoffs and Canadian championship. So, essentially, superliga and CONCACAF Champions League. Kingjeff (talk) 01:02, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
List of neighbourhoods in TorontoHope you don't take this the wrong way (I know you are a prolific editor of articles about Toronto), but this edit [3] comes across as sneaky. The edit summary says "Redirect bypass from Old Toronto, Ontario to Old Toronto using popups" but you have included something extra that probably didn't come from popups, changing "the (censored) village" to "the (censored) village", which seems to violate WP:NOTCENSORED. I'm not sure if you made the change because you feel it's offensive, or worry that people who live there might be offended, but you should have discussed this on the talk page first. Please revert this change (because if you don't, I will, on the grounds that it was done improperly and deceptively). --A Knight Who Says Ni (talk) 17:19, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

Service awards proposalNew infobox for Ontario RoadsI've been making this for the past couple weeks after having too much trouble getting infobox road to work outside the King's Highway system. It uses 4 different colours, depending on the type of road (blue for freeways, green for provincial highways, yellow for county roads, and grey for any other street. I figured you're the few other people active with Ontario roads, so I'd bring it to you first rather than just springing it on the articles.
Feel free to test out any road or value on the /test page to see if you can break it. Documentation is limited so far but all the parameters are laid out, and generally compatible with the current Infobox road template. Cheers - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 17:36, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

Redirect bypassesGood work on all the redirect bypasses you've been doing. I do think that sometimes redirects should not be bypassed. For instance one recent change was from Mayor of Toronto to list of mayors of Toronto. I think it is quite likely that someday Mayor of Toronto will be its own article like Premier of Ontario or Mayor of New York City. When it does become its own article, it will be very hard to go back and correct all the links as there is no easy indication of where a past redirect has been bypassed. In general I feel that one should only bypass redirects when there is absolutely no chance of an article being created under that name. - SimonP (talk) 03:41, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
Reviewer grantedHello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial currently scheduled to end 15 August 2010. Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages. When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). Although it may be a major event that happened in Toronto I don't think the G-20 summit has a profound effect in the history of Toronto. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :D Thanks! They are part of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference in the National Basketball Association. The team was established in 1995, along with the Vancouver Grizzlies, as part of the NBA's expansion into Canada. When the Grizzlies relocated to Memphis, Tennessee in 2001, the Raptors became the only Canadian team in the NBA. Like most expansion teams, the Raptors struggled in their early years; but after the acquisition of Vince Carter through a draft day trade in 1998, the team set league attendance records and made the NBA Playoffs in 2000, 2001, and 2002. After Carter left, Chris Bosh emerged as the team leader. With the appointment of Bryan Colangelo as General Manager and a revamp of the roster for the 2006–07 season, they qualified for their first playoff berth in five years and captured their first division title. In the following season, they advanced to the playoffs again. In a bid to persuade Bosh to stay beyond the final year of his contract, the team had a roster overhaul in the 2009–10 season. However, the attempt to make the playoffs was unsuccessful and Bosh signed with the Miami Heat in July 2010, ushering in a new era for the franchise. (more...)
What's the point of removing some road name links and not others? It should be all or nothing (and I vote for keeping them all in). Useddenim (talk) 17:32, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
I'm not sure what to do about the recent edits by Ng.j to this route diagram, and also the Eglinton-Scarborough Crosstown line, where he has insisted on removing (future/proposed) sections of line that are referred to in the articles' text. I undid them the first time, but he just went an made the changes again. I don't want to goet into an edit war; do you have any suggestions? Useddenim (talk) 04:14, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
Politics of light rail in North AmericaI think I can get some info on that. I may start saving small paragraphs at first, but later I'll expand on them and add relevant detail. EelamStyleZ (talk) 02:07, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
Crosstown LRT or Crosstown? Is the official name really Crosstown LRT? Because the TTC site also refers to it as "the Crosstown" and "Crosstown line" at the moment. For the time being, however, "Crosstown LRT" should be an appropriate name. EelamStyleZ (talk) 17:33, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
TTC templateHi, I undid the subgrouping to the 'Facilities' section of the TTC template, since links were listed multiple times and just seemed to cause clutter in the template. It's hard to categorize them by use since different facilities are used for multiple purposes. EelamStyleZ (talk) 00:13, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
Queen's ParkThe "Queen's Park" that you say is in North York is called "Queen's Greenbelt" at 600 Queen's Drive. Secondarywaltz (talk) 06:22, 14 August 2011 (UTC)
