Museum GuidesWere you aware that it is possible to create maps with links to images and articles eg: [[1]] Although I expect the people over at open street maps or even the geohack people on the toolserver could do a better job.Geni (talk) 19:43, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
Photo requestHi John, any chance that we can have a photo of the memorial tablet for Frederick DuCane Godman and Osbert Salvin for those articles? Thanks. Shyamal (talk) 08:02, 27 June 2013 (UTC) July 2013Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Sinclair, Manitoba may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

I can't find that on Commons itself. Can you point me to it? I hope I haven't just made this up. TIA, MartinPoulter (talk) 21:25, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

Do you have anything in particular you need that they have? Feel free to give me a list if you like. The 2 websites that the images would be available from are:
I'm hoping this is the start of something larger but could just be a one off so am trying to come up with a most wanted list. Please leave your suggestions below (linking to specific pages) --Mrjohncummings (talk) 23:44, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
Here is my selection:
Hawkeye7 (talk) 02:53, 18 June 2013 (UTC) Just checking out the idea (playing around) but on the odd chance these might be useful:
The 1322 NASA photos are *all* ok regarding copyright, but this may not be the best place to get them. Still, the museum has selected a very beautiful group The light micrographs are all wonderful, but it looks like they are all properly copyrighted by individuals Car bodies all look like they fit in with the restrictions we have to deal with, and might be very useful for selected articles, e.g. Royal Society transactions might be very useful for some articles All in all there's a wonderful trove here (with some annoying restrictions). Keep up the good work. July 2013Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload new images. However, it appears that one or more of the images you have recently uploaded or added to an article, specifically Wikipedia:GLAM/Natural History Museum and Science Museum/NHM Galleries/Treasures/The Birds of America, may fail our non-free image policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted image of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free image criteria. From CommonsCiao, since I'm not English, I would need a helping hand to understand and write in English what people have said into this video TimedText:GibraltarpediA introduction video.ogg.en.srt (like made in TimedText:Monmouthpedia_video_revised.ogv.en.srt) as part of the project GibraltarpediA. In this way, it will translate into all the languages of the world. Now is a temporary transcription without synchronization. Victuallers has already given it a helping hand! I'm afraid I can't reproduce your problem using Google Calendar > Other Calendars > Add from URL > http://tools.wmflabs.org/wmukevents/ . The tool definitely *used* to suffer from the robots.txt problem though, so I don't doubt that it has returned :) I just wonder what you and I are doing differently? Disambiguation link notification for February 13Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Great Barrier Reef, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Phosphorous (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:05, 13 February 2014 (UTC) Great Barrier Reef-related editsHello John, I have been looking at a group of edits you have made relating to a recent news story regarding the reef. They look to me to not meet WP styles and policies for several reasons. They don't look to be neutral, for example through the inclusion of Waters very strident sound bite, and the selection of the way facts are presented; it possibly breaches WP:NOTNEWS, and also isn't consistent with the Manual of Style. I'm reverting a couple of instances, following WP:BRD, and suggest a discussion at the article talk pages. In the case of the addition to Larissa Waters in particular, I really don't think it is worth debating, because it isn't about her, and that article is a biographical one. We don't include in biographies every (or even many) instances where the subject spoke about a topic. Cheers, hamiltonstone (talk) 22:29, 13 February 2014 (UTC)
Very sorry to miss your message, thanks for your edits. I have a couple of revisions I will suggest on the talk page, I'd really like to get the Great Barrier Reef up to featured article. I'm working on another article related in my sandbox, Threatened species known to occur in the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area (maybe the title needs some work). Thanks --Mrjohncummings (talk) 12:48, 26 February 2014 (UTC) Reference Errors on 15 FebruaryHello, I'm ReferenceBot. Re https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:George_Monbiot_interview_with_The_Green_Interview.webm which you uploaded from youtube.com. On http://www.thegreeninterview.com/about I read "Visitors may also view one interview entirely free of charge. Access to the full-length interviews is otherwise reserved for paying customers ...". Electron microscope imagesHi, on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Insects#Electron microscope images back in December, you offered to see if you could make images. Dunno if your offer still stands. Neither do I think it has priority, but I would be interested in Crowsoniella relicta, and in particular the ventral and dorsal habitus, maximilar palp and aedeagus. If I understand it well, the NHM has one of only two collections of this tiny beetle. Thanks, and if you can't do it, don't worry. So I was looking at Dorte Gatermann's page and the German language version came up in a subsequent search. It has better/more information on it. I was thinking about just translating the German content and weaving it into the English language version. Can I translate the Wikipedia page in a different language and add that content to Wikipedia En version? Is that considered copying work and is verboten? Is there attribution tags required?
