Thanks for re-protecting randomness and adding move=sysop. I was more than a bit puzzled why the previous protection wore off so soon! Hope that's fixed the random vandals for a while. Regards, Qwfp (talk) 19:02, 14 September 2008 (UTC).
To be a winner you have to be gracious in victory, but more so, gracious in defeat. Congratulations on crushing beating me in the final. :) Sunderland06 (talk) 19:31, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
I am currently requesting approval to use the rollback feature as I've been trying to fight vandalism for the past two weeks. I may not be an experienced editor but I do know which edits are vandalism and which are AGFs. I hope you can agree with me and hope you get your FLC promoted. Cheers! -- K. Hi Jj137. I would like to thank you for your support in my RfA and the confidence expressed thereby. It is very much appreciated. :) The RfA was closed as successful with 73 supports, 3 opposes and 4 neutral. I would especially like to thank WBOSITG for nominating me. Thank you for supporting me in my RfA, which passed with a count of (154/3/2). I appreciate the community's trust in me, and I will do my best to be sure it won't regret handing me the mop. Hi Jj137, you may want to take a second look at Mario West and retract the warnings; it seems the anon was making good-faith edits and the bot made a mistake. I reverted the article to an earlier version. Regards, Accurizer (talk) 01:43, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
Heh, but you never alerted yourself :P Oh well. Also, how exactly does the "Please to read afore you post here please" thing show up when I edit your talk page? jj137(talk)21:47, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of 2009 Baltimore Orioles season
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article 2009 Baltimore Orioles season, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
A September issue is in the works and can be found here. Feel free to add anything. I apoligize for such short notice, but would like to send it out before the playoffs start tomorrow; as it is a template, we can change things even after delivery if we need to. Thanks! Blackngold2919:19, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
I created it here. Since the list is alphabetical, why don't you take A–M and I'll do N to the end. Maybe we could get the list re-designed so we could use a bot, we'll havet to bring it up sometime. Thanks! Blackngold2922:02, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
I already started delivering them. If we want to make it look nicer we can (since it's a temp they all update), but there's no sense in killing ourselves with little stuff. I think we should do a Roll Call too, theres a lot of low activity users. Blackngold2922:20, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
That also sounds like a good idea- it's sometimes hard to tell if someone is even still here or not. I'll go ahead and get A-M. jj137(talk)23:44, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
We apologize for not sending out our August newsletter, we have tried to cover some events of the month in this issue.
The playoffs have started! The Dodgers and Phillies have won their respective Division Series and will face off in the NL Championship Series. Both series in the American League have yet to be finished. Show your support for your favorite teams by keeping up with their season pages!
Dear Jj137, thanks for the October Baseball WikiProject Newsletter. That latter says the Baseball Project promoted 13 lists to Featured status in August and 8 more in September. I also want to get involve in baseball-related articles. Unfortunately, I was busy with other articles. I want to make our Baseball article a Featured article. And I also want to help the Baseball Project as much as possible. Have a nice day! AdjustShift (talk) 13:35, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
Thanks! Well, you can help out wherever you want, and I think if we have a group effort from WP:MLB we could probably make Baseball an FA. jj137(talk)22:45, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
Two new featured articles have been added to the project (2007 USC Trojans football team and 2005 Sugar Bowl), bringing the project's total to 12 featured articles.
The 2008-2009 college football season is in full swing! Teams ranked in the top 25 should have a single-season page or at the very least a separate football page. The rankings page and the overall season page should be kept updated, as should the pages of players of note, particularly Heisman Trophy candidates.
Heading out to a football game? Be sure to carry a camera and get pictures of players, teams, stadiums, and all the action and pageantry of college football. An excellent guide to taking pictures for WP:CFB can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject College football/Images. Even if you don't think a photo can be immediately used for an article, try uploading it to Wikimedia Commons so future article authors can use it.
The College Football Portal needs to be updated with featured articles and pictures. Do you have a great picture that illustrates the best of college football? Consider adding it to the featured image queue on the portal.
Welcome to the latest issue of the College football WikiProject newsletter! I hope that you're enjoying regular updates about the goings on of college football on Wikipedia, but if not, feel free to add your name to the "no delivery" section on the newsletter signup page.
I encourage everyone to make regular visits to the College Football Portal and perhaps make it your Wikipedia entry page instead of using the Main Page as your gateway. Nominations for selected articles and pictures are always welcome, and can serve as a great way to show off that new article you just shepherded to Good Article status or the great picture you took the last time you were at a game.
Comments and suggestions on improving the newsletter are always welcome, and help me improve it on a monthly basis. Keep contributing and editing, and don't hesitate to contact me or post on the College Football Wikiproject talk page if you need help or just want someone to look over your article.

Glad I could give it to you, and nice job on the DYK. Simply how often you show up in my watchlist made me realize how hard at work you've been at those articles. One question though- what exactly does "xact" mean? I've never been able to figure that out. :) jj137(talk)00:36, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

A friendly reminder from the Adopt-a-User project =)
Hey there Jj137! This is a friendly reminder to update your status at Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User/Adoptee's Area/Adopters whenever it is appropriate in order to provide new users with the most up-to-date information on available adopters. No offense but it sucks. Bad. You guys need much more info on it and maybe some analysis. Less news about the project and more news about the actual game, if you get my drift. HPJokerLeave me a message00:08, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I completely see what you mean- I was hoping to update it with some of that as soon as I deliver it to everyone. Hey, if you want to, go ahead and add a bit yourself- the page is at Wikipedia:WikiProject Baseball/Outreach/newsletteroct08. (Try not to add anything too crazy though, it'll show up on like 250 people's talk pages :)). jj137(talk)00:12, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
The Dropkick Murphys are pretty good. I'm not much of a fan of country, but I'll listen to just about any kind of rock. jj137(talk)23:42, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
Well, yeah. Then again, he did break the strikeout record a few years ago (although it has been broken since). I still don't know whether trading Dunn from the Reds turned out to be a good thing or bad thing... jj137(talk)00:10, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I think they'll turn out to be pretty good. The main reason they haven't been playing for the Reds before is simply because Dunn and Griffey were still there. jj137(talk)20:53, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
Burner0718 had told Moose that he could tell me to stop posting on his page, and was free to revert any edits I made after he told me, so I figured that was a general rule and I could tell others, too. RafaelRGarcia (talk) 04:04, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
Precisely- my mistake though, Rafael did in a way ask, but just for future reference, it isn't really a good idea to flat out tell someone to not post on their talk page (although I know you didn't). jj137(talk)04:09, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
I'd prefer to stay out of this, really; I don't know much of the complete situation, but the best advice I can give is just to completely avoid one another. jj137(talk)04:19, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
Yes, there might be, I'm not sure; as far as I know, the best (and maybe quickest) way to deal with this would be for one of you to take this to WP:ANI. That way, several admins will probably look at what's going on and make the appropriate decision, as I'm generally not someone that resolves disputes. jj137(talk)04:26, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
Why is this user so concerned with what I'm doing? He seems obsessed. He's followed me onto several boards and I've had to file a WikiAlert against him. Sorry he's disturbing you here. If I knew how to stop the madness I would!!! I tried to ignore it, but it didn't go away. Have a happy every day! (Wallamoose (talk) 04:38, 11 October 2008 (UTC))
Well, thanks. I would read the above conversation to "catch up"; I don't really know who's right and who's wrong, which is why I am continuously suggesting just taking it to ANI. jj137(talk)04:43, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
Things are going quite well! I will admit I was blocked for a time from January to July of this year (and rightly so) for being a royal dumbass to a couple users. I have since come back and am working hard to re-earn everyone's respect and I seem to have done so. I am back working on radio stations and TV stations. Am updating the State of Virginia's radio station pages to make sure they all have infoboxes and working with the TV station WikiProject to get the "market" templates back and updated.
All and all....things are going well. Hope things are going well in your neck of the 'pedia as well. Take Care...NeutralHomer • Talk • October 11, 2008 @ 17:25

Removing stat table blocks from team-season articles
I noticed you removing some of the stat tables I've been working with on some team-season articles (most recently, the 1882 and 1883 Cincinnati pages). I can understand why you might remove some of the pitching tables due to the small number of pitchers on the early teams, but why remove the "Other batters" table? I'm just going to have to re-add it later when I get to that part of the project. -Dewelar (talk) 02:40, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Just to make it, well, simpler. I first added the stat tables to all of the Reds pages last year, and gradually have been going back and "simplifying" them ever since, when I realized there was no point in having two divisions for batters and three for pitchers. I originally copied the stats tables from User:Soxrock (he "created" them, I think) without really thinking twice about it. Since I have thought about it, I sort of realized all of that. (If you think about it, all batters do the same thing, there's no point dividing it into two random groups; same with the pitchers, except it is two main/separate groups instead of three, starting and relief.) jj137(talk)02:57, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
I like the current setup (with my tweaking of the headers) for two reasons: 1) The batters can be split up into the "Starters by position" and "Other batters", which highlights the more important ones in their own place, and 2), the "Other pitchers" table can hold those pitchers who were both starters and relievers. It also mirrors the breakdown on Baseball Reference, making it easier to enter the data. I've been using those tables to help standardize all 2500+ team-season articles as well. -Dewelar (talk) 03:04, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Ah, OK, I like your reasoning. I always thought the stat tables just randomly divided up the players, but I guess not. I'll stop "simplifying" them from now on, but instead try to change it around to how you have it. jj137(talk)03:05, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
That's just it -- the old Soxrock version did kind of randomly divide them up. That's why I tweaked the headers so they made more sense before porting them into other pages. -Dewelar (talk) 03:41, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Well, yeah. Sorry for the misunderstanding; when I work on the stats tables in the future, I'll be sure to change them around to the tweaked version of the headers. jj137(talk)02:12, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
OK, thanks. I guess you could put it in a subpage, although either way it would be easy for copying and pasting, I think. jj137(talk)03:14, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

As the admin that gave this editor rollback privileges, I just wanted to briefly mention that although the majority of the reverts this user has done have been good, he/she may be a little too quick on the trigger: examples include re-adding vandalism, reverting good faith edit, reverting capitalization correction, reverting my reversion of completely original research/fiction, and a handful of incidents where the user reverted and correctly reverted back. Most of these incidents are minor and have been mentioned to the user, but I can't tell if any have been acknowledged. Can you just drop by the user's page and let them know to take a bit more care with the rollback button? Many thanks, --Jh12 (talk) 04:24, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
You have continued "updating" French commune tags after I posted my comment on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject France. My post was on October 13, and your last "update" on Oct 15 (or later). Would you mind taking part in the discussion before continuing this unilateral update with which I disagree? Thank you. olivier (talk) 14:15, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
Penubag has been hard at work developing awards for this project. He has completed a very professional looking medal, and is almost done with a trophy that is truly awesome - both of these awards are visually stunning.
I and a few others have been working steadily on the country outlines that will be the focus of the contest - an outline for every country of the world! They're shaping up nicely. So far, 28 of them have been moved to article space - these aren't complete, but they are complete enough to be made available for readers to benefit from them. The rest of the set still includes temporary data that was generated by template (because it matched most but not all of the countries), and before those lists can be moved to article space, all the temporary data needs to be checked for accuracy, and if incorrect it needs to be replaced with correct information.
The effort on the lists has been on 3 fronts:
Working on the lists in article space to complete them so they will be good examples for editors working on the rest of the set (during the contest).
Adding or correcting other data (fixing redlinks, filling in blanks, etc.). The main type of work participants in the contest will be doing. The reason we're doing this is to get a feel for it, to develop the fastest methods for each type of task, etc.
Improving the overall design and implenting changes on all 247 pages, whether in article space or not.
There has been some opposition to us running the contest based on edit counts or iterations. The concern is that we should reward quality work and not quantity, for fear of crappy edits done quickly without thought just to earn an award. I pointed out that the collection of pages are drafts in the Wikipedia namespace (therefore posing no danger to article space) and that most of the work needs to be done with power tools like AWB and Linky (which are specifically designed for repetitive volumnous work), but the reply was that we shouldn't set the precedent of rewarding barnstars for numerically-based tasks, and implied the threat of continuously MfD'ing the contest if we attempted to do so (like they did with the Awards Center - I was very surprised and disappointed that participants didn't step up to defend it). So we need to be careful in determining what exactly the awards will represent, and how they will be awarded.
Since rewarding iterations (passes with AWB on all of the pages in the set) are out, we really don't need the globe-in-stand (award we were working on) anymore. Two awards should suffice.
Once we get started with the contest, I'd like to kick the whole thing off with a round of medals for those dedicated few who have worked hard on the project so far.
JJ, could you take a look at the 2008 World Series article? We've got a user edit warring over styles that are incorrect per MOS. He's citing his own work, refusing to defer to the original style, and he warned me for vandalism (level 4) for trying to fix it. I'd appreciate some help. Thanks! I want to know about Portal:Baseball. I've never done anything related to portal. There is a "Did you know" section in the portal. Thanks for the tip. Now that I'm back from vacation, I can resume working on some of this stuff. Now, I just need to figure out how to run scripts :) . -Dewelar (talk) 22:45, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
OK, I've added the script (had to create the monobook page). Now, what is supposed to happen? I've tried editing a page (and sections of a page), but nothing seems to be different -Dewelar (talk) 02:31, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
I followed the instructions about bypassing the cache, but I'm still not seeing anything. I tried editing the whole article, the whole stats section, and various subsections, but saw no extra tab. Is the tab a regular IE tab below the menu bar, or is it inside the window somewhere? You may have to walk me through this. -Dewelar (talk) 16:27, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
I use Firefox for everything *but* Wikipedia, for one reason: I need to override my colors due to a visual impairment I have (working too long with a white background gives me headaches), but with Wikipedia I can't do that, because if I do I can't see redlinks. It really, really sucks, because otherwise I'm a huge fan of Firefox. So, I have IE set up to use Wikipedia's colors.
Anyway..."watch button"? I don't see a "watch button". I see a watch checkbox (under the edit box) and I see a watch hyperlink (which is at the very bottom of the page). I see nothing that says "hit" in either place. Is it possible that I'm not seeing it because I don't use the default skin (I use Cologne Blue)? -Dewelar (talk) 03:12, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
Yep, that was the problem. I switched to Monobook and it worked fine. It still doesn't work in Cologne Blue, though. When I get a chance, I will ask around at that board you pointed out and see what I can find out. Thanks! -Dewelar (talk) 22:41, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
Flamingo Recordings
Hi,
You deleted the information regarding Flamingo Recordings as you said it did not exist but if you search on google it is the 1st link that comes up.
I didn't decide the reason, I just deleted it. I have done a lot of routine cleanup deletions in the past, and I have really no involvement with that article at all. jj137(talk)02:52, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
OK, thanks for giving me a heads up about that. I'll go back sometime in the next couple of days (whenever I have some free time to get it done) and fix all of those. jj137(talk)03:09, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
I may be able to save you some trouble there: I was planning on bot-retagging them from moth-stub to {{Lycaenidae-stub}} anyway, so I should be able to tweak that to correct the text while I'm about it. (After that I'll have the task of puzzling out what to do with the increasingly enormous Category:Lycaenidae stubs; but, one step at a time...) Alai (talk) 04:19, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
That's running now. Had to upgrade my version of pywikipediabot and make some tweaks, so let's hope the bot doesn't go roooooogue. Alai (talk) 04:31, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
Ah, cool to see you're keeping up with your userpage again :) Lol, I forgot about trade though! I really thought that meant nothing too, but, wow... jj137(talk)01:09, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
Administrators noticeboard thread that may be of interest to you
I noticed today that your userid deleted the page Canadian Institute of Portrait Artists with the reason stated that thorough research had been done and no notability items could be provided. I could have provided many notability articles about this organization. I asked in the discussion area for the page for some information on where this information should be stored, but the person who quite curtly told me that there were no notable items in the article, did not respond. This experience has definitely soured my on any future contributions to Wikipedia. I have read on various websites that Wikipedia is always looking for more editors and content contributors. Before the disappointing lack of response from the person who labelled my article as not notable, I wanted to contribute to this endeavour and do my part to further it. As a new contributor, he offered me no help when I asked him to clarify what he meant and was really not very encouraging, but bordering on rude. I know that I will not be contributing anything further - I don't really have time to receive this kind of treatment. If new people like me are likewise discouraged, you will have a hard time getting new editors and contributors. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.73.167.7 (talk) 05:47, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
Wow. Just, wow. Maybe before you go ranting on my talk page, you could pay attention to what I actually did. Firstly, I deleted that article almost a year ago. Secondly, I didn't even decide the reason. I just go through the old Prod articles and delete them, and have absolutely nothing to do with the article itself. jj137(talk)23:58, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

Since you are the main contributor for this article, I was wondering if you would let me co-nominate this article for Feature list nomination with you after I fix this article to to complete FL criteria. -- SRE.K.Annoyomous.L.24[c]00:11, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
Sounds good to me. By the time you are finished working on it, you'll probably be more of the main contributor, but I can co-nominate anyway if you want :) jj137(talk)00:53, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.
It's been a while since anyone has updated/edited it, the last constructive edit being on March 20. I propose we try to bring it back up, maybe write/improve a few articles. Good idea? RedThunder13:19, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
Sounds like a good idea to me. Maybe we could send out some kind of notice to everyone to let them know we want to revamp it? jj137(talk)15:56, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

i am wondering why you reverted my change to Amos lee's page it is a true fact i have seen him in concert 3 times two of those times he smoked a blunt throughout the concert he also has said this many times
It says there that you find so many different templates "confusing" and that "people may think [the synonyms] are two different reference templates, but they're not. I'm just trying to make things at least slightly clearer to editors, mainly not-so-experienced ones. Hope that answers your question." It does answer, but I'd still suggest that editing a page solely to replace such a template with its synonym is unneeded -- if there are other fixes to be made and you can also standardize on the "real" template, peachy. Or if you do want to replace redirects, could you use a more descriptive edit summary, such as "replacing redirect template"? Cheers! -- JHunterJ (talk) 02:25, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Of course. I've somewhat been "working on" lately to try and, if I am going to do that, fix anything else on the page while I'm there (which is what you suggested). I think from now on I won't save the page unless other (visible) things are being fixed as well. jj137(talk)03:08, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Re: WikiCup
Oh no!! I'm really sorry. I should've decided sooner, but I thought I had until the New Year. Yea, I have a busy year coming up, and I'm not sure how much I'll be able to edit. Sorry, but the cup looks great! ♬♩ Hurricanehink (talk) 04:43, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
I have decided to return to Wikipedia. I saw you protected my userpage, so could you unprotect it and restore my old userpage? Thanks. --LAAFansignreview02:38, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
Done. I restored all of your old userpage history, as well as a couple of the deleted subpages that were transcluded on your userpage. Hope that helps. jj137(talk)03:11, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
