Bicycle standOMG, if you will pardon the expression. Are you sure that "decorative" is the the correct adjective? -AndrewDressel (talk) 23:12, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
FoldersThanks for the reference. Since it appears that you live in New York City, could you guestimate what percentage of bikes you see there are folders? Not that such OR matters, but it might better inform how we paraphrase the NYT text: "folding bikes have become the vehicle of choice for many." I'm skeptical that any sizable demographic "often prefer a folding bicycle," but I'm not there, so obviously, I don't know for sure. I have nothing against folders, and actually have been shopping for one lately, but don't see any benefit in overstating their popularity. -AndrewDressel (talk) 14:59, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
Hi Jim, I just made a small change to your edit of Frank Sinatra Park on 8 Sept 2008. The picture "Frank Sinatra Park. Hoboken, NJ.jpg" is not of Frank Sinatra Park but of Pier A in Hoboken. Frank Sinatra Park is located approximately 5 blocks north of Pier A, near Stevens Park and across from 5th Street. Do you know how to rename a file under Wikimedia Commons? Frank Sinatra Park. Hoboken, NJ.jpg and Frank Sinatra Park. Hoboken, NJ 1.jpg should be renamed to something like Pier A. Hoboken, NJ. --RoyGoldsmith (talk) 11:24, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
NowCommons: File:ScienceBargePier84.JPGFile:ScienceBargePier84.JPG is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:ScienceBargePier84.JPG. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:ScienceBargePier84.JPG]]. Two Mount Vernon, New York imagesI recently tagged two images by User:Maturelife1 currently being used in the Mount Vernon, New York article, one of which you previously added to the Images of New York category. British Telephone SocketsJim, Would you advise on a reversion which has been made to this article? It can be seen at http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=British_telephone_sockets&diff=316776728&oldid=316776665 The comment and link added by Jameswibbs seem helpful to me, but XLinkBot doesn't like them. As an experienced Wikipedian in the telecoms field, can you advise as to what should be done? Mark126 (talk) 08:21, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
the wikipedia articleThe Great White Way includes this sentence, "The name was applied to the area due to the number of buildings that had been designed by Stanford White." Queensboro PlazaDoes this describe usage, or past structure? That sentence describes the former structure. It was 4 island platforms and 8 tracks between the two levels. The northern half of the station was demolished in the early 1960s. See this pic as it was, Queensboro Plaza in 1917. Acps110 (talk) 00:39, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

I took this picture standing atop the AMTRAK railroad on a sunny afternoon in early spring, looking up and northeast.". Is this correct? This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Great Neck (Village), New York, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Great Neck, New York. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally moving or duplicating content, please be sure you have followed the procedure at Wikipedia:Splitting by acknowledging the duplication of material in edit summary to preserve attribution history. This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. introduction at the suggestion of Garry Osgoodintroduction at the suggestion of Garry Osgood - whom you know, I think, as gosgood [1] Gosgood here on Wikipedia. I'm involved in disaster preparedness, have a great interest in POTS technologies, telephony generally, sound-powered phones - in any case, Garry thought we had some interests in common, that I might be of assistance to you with various articles - and I'm involved in some grant- and proposal-writing which, if successful, will yield funding, etc., to do some things both fun and useful in our city. Washington, GeorgeHi, Jim. Got a question: When subcategories are listed alphabetically on a category's page, should those of people be listed by last name or first name? At first I noticed people using the pipe divider method to do it by last name, so I began doing so myself, and started taking a few of my portraits from the Comic book creators cat and turning them into subcats by last name. But I've now discovered that since the last time I was there, someone created a lot more by first name, so now the list is mixed. Is there a policy or guideline governing this? Thanks. Hi Jim, thank you for working on the above article. In your edit summary (# 13:27, 20 March 2010 (Please be specific if it still needs more references)), you asked where further references were required. The 'Effects of sensor size' and 'Archiving' sections have lots of 'citation required' tags and 'Price' is currently completely unreferenced. There are other tags scattered around the text too. If you could add a few refs that would be greatly appreciated. It would be great if you could replace the amateur website refs (Ken Rockwell etc.) too. I have no references about digital cameras (I'm an analogue user myself) save the 2000 Michael Langford that's already there, and that book's on loan to a friend so I'm unable to confirm anything at the moment. Mobile phone charger and ITU standardisationHi, I read your contribution on Battery charger#Mobile phone charger, more specifically about the ITU's standardisation, and have more information on the issue. As far as I know, proposals were originally drafted by Solomon Passy and his wife, both of whom work with the EU and EC. The information that I have in the form of an article entry is in my sandbox. I can try and get reference links if required, though that may take a little while. If you believe it is a valid contribution, let me know so I can add it. Let me know if any information you believe is incorrect. The paragraph was drafted with help from the man himself. I'd like to try an eliminate any bias that might exist (as can be the case when the person involved adds information), and add the information to the main article. I would also like to add a proposal to split off the mobile phone charger subsection into its own article, which would be a more in-depth view into the different types, their history and their future. I added a subpage just for this a while back and I'd like to start expanding it when I have time. If anyone would like to contribute, they are welcome to add ideas to that page, since at the moment it is just a layout draft. I look forward to hearing from you. Regards. AfD nomination of Party BikeAn editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Party Bike. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Party Bike. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. rotary coin phone still in useI saw your rotary-dial bumper sticker. There's a rotary-dial coin phone still in use (at least, there was, as of maybe a year ago) in the Citibank or Citigroup office tower at 111 Wall Street, New York, N.Y., in the back of the ground-floor lobby. There's a row of coin phones and one has a rotary dial. It's not in a wooden booth and I don't know why it's there, but it worked when I used it. Visitors need security approval to go past the front desk at the entrance, as in many buildings downtown. Enjoy. Nick Levinson (talk) 00:18, 27 May 2010 (UTC) |
