User talk:Jessamyn/archive1Talk Archive - April 2005 - April 2007Hi Jessamyn, I apologize for my message to you at Quarry Hill Creative Center page. I have been getting harassed by some very rude people on Wikipedia, and I thought you were one of them. I actually appreciate your efforts to clarify the QHCC page. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 16:28, 3 Apr 2005 (UTC) Glad to see you hereI noticed your new user login, and appreciated what you had to say. Please consider following along with wiki no matter the "voting" process. I'm new myself, and even within lots of confusing activity and discussion, I've still found wonderfully informative people contributing to this knowledge base. Take care. TTLightningRod 15:18, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC) Article deletion noteYou voted previously to keep the article Rogers Cadenhead. You may have changed your mind now that the author has admitted to writing the article himself “as an experiment.” He himself says, “I am somewhat eager to see this vote end with my deletion.” Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Log/2005_August_29#Rogers_Cadenhead --Quasipalm 17:08, 1 September 2005 (UTC)
The Jessamyn?!Wow, welcome to Wikipedia. I'm glad you're here. Now maybe Wikipedians will actually pick up some books instead of only doing research on subjects that they can find on the Internet. --Jacquelyn Marie 16:03, 5 October 2005 (UTC)
Jessamyn, Thanks for your thoughtful contribution to the cyberbullying AfD discussion. I have rewritten the article so that it is a stub and have outlined a plan for expansion over time on the talk page for the article. I plan to use the sources you provided in expanding the article. I would be grateful if you could leave any suggestions or tell me what you think either on the article talk page or my talk page. Capitalistroadster 10:34, 7 October 2005 (UTC) Pedal powerThanks for doing a great expansion. --Tony SidawayTalk 15:08, 14 October 2005 (UTC) vermont templatehi, I see you've been adding the Vermont template to the bottom of all the Vermont towns. The template and all the 251 towns it includes seems a bit unwieldy. Since there is already a towns in Vermont page, I was thinking it might be more useful and usable to link to this page rather than include links to all the towns. I'm sort of new here so I'm not sure what the process is for revising temnplates (wasn't sure if it was a good place to be bold or not) and figured I'd run it by you first. Thoughts? (unsigned question posted by User:Jessamyn)
OMYA linkActually, that link was already on the page; I only relocated it. I must admit I didn't investigate the geography much, although I did notice the earlier text "most of the town was split off as West Rutland and Proctor". I replaced the external link in the text by a link to OMYA and moved the existing link to External links. If you feel that it would fit better somewhere else, then I certainly have no objections. --Big_Iron 21:16, 28 October 2005 (UTC) Blogging Guidelines
I have had a go at developing notability guidelines for blogs at Wikipedia talk:Websites#Blogs. I would be grateful if you could have a look and add any comments that you might have. You voted to delete pedophilia advocacy on the grounds that it was a "POV fork." However, the supposed original POV cited has, apparently, since been rectified, as User:James James moved the article to Pedophilia advocacy. Maybe you didn't notice..? Or do you consider something else point-of-view?
If you do, I would urge you to fix it rather than voting to merge the article with pedophilia, which is long enough already. Deleting the article won't make the movement go away. Keep it, on the other hand, and there will actually be a neutral source for a description of the movement, rather than mere propaganda. You are greatIt is true! Ipsedixit 02:09, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
The Afd noticeI responded on my own talk page. I'll remove the notice in a couple of days if Lysol doesn't respond, or you could do it yourself should I forget. I've offered to help him if he is simply confused as to what to do next--it doesn't hurt to assume good faith. --Tony Sidaway 02:10, 3 March 2006 (UTC) Vermont TownsNot to give you a headache, but I think that Bellow Falls is missing from the 251 list. Should I add it and take us to 252? I bet there's a reason, but I just wanted to make sure, and I really don't want to mess up the list. H0n0r 16:26, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
WelcomingI've replied to your question from several days ago at Wikipedia talk:Welcoming committee#welcome on user pages?. Thanks. --TantalumTelluride 05:19, 22 March 2006 (UTC) Poverty line sentenceI'm not altogether happy with it as it stands. Can you make a better suggestion? Rich Farmbrough 17:38 23 March 2006 (UTC).
Mogan photo?Hello, I am a Morgan owner and I was wondering, who is the horse in the photo and is it a Morgan? Also, there was a beautiful photo of a Morgan mare and her foal on the Morgan page before, what happened to that one? Cathy Burgess
Wikiproject VTI was wondering if I could update the project page to take out the things that are done? I was looking at Wikiproject Wisconsin and its really organized - I'm not sure I want to take it that far, but I look at the page as it is now and it's overhwelming - what do you think? Sure thing(I still haven't figure out how to respond to a comment - can you tell?) I have your back. I really thought that they'd gone away but I see I was wrong. I've looked up the names and the only Benson or VT connection are a couple of UVM students, so that makes me feel a little better. I'm seeing this as a growing theme though - that the notable people are the elements most commonly in need of defense. I think that the sections are really interesting, but I'm beginning to wonder if they're worth the hassle? Anyway - I'll post some comments just now - my apologies for waiting so long. mediation cabalJessamyn - If you do a contrib check on the 3 users you mentioned They only have gone after your article. This seems like trolling/vandalism something for admin rather than mediation cabal. Do you want to try just reporting it and see if a ban/block doesn't do the trick? jbolden1517Talk 02:44, 11 May 2006 (UTC) Formatting of To Do list on Project VermontHi Jessamyn, I upped the font size a bit - I hope this helps. Seeking Advice and InputA Library Bill of Rights page was just created by a person high in the ALA eschelon. I have made edits to it. In addition I raise, on the talk page, serious concerns that I think should be on the main page that I back up with links from top sources, such as the ALA itself. Since you have helped to shape my wikiness as much as you have, would you mind looking over that page, and the talk page, and providing comments to me, and perhaps even getting involved on the page yourself? Listen, I know we are all busy. So only if you have the time. Thanks! (I'm going to ask Alecmconroy the same thing.) --SafeLibraries 03:35, 10 July 2006 (UTC) Any thoughts on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Staying Fat For Sarah Byrnes??Heading says all... Dpbsmith (talk) 22:40, 25 July 2006 (UTC) Trying to Respond on ALA Talk PageJessamyn, I am trying to respond to you on the ALA Talk page, I saw your comment about arbitration and bad sources and your not being an ALA Councilor anymore. But when I went to respond, it's gone!?! Only in history!?! Why? Someone reverted you back to my version - why? Tell me if your comment is back up so I can respond. Thanks. --SafeLibraries 01:36, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
Safelibraries RFCAs discussed on the ALA talk page, I've gone ahead and asked the Wikipedia community to comment on Safelibraries our edits, so that people who are unrelated to this dispute can help guide you. You may want to respond to this RFC at Wikipedia:Requests for comment/SafeLibraries.org. --Alecmconroy 22:25, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
LAECJess, the diff you posted wsa just a spelling correction. Just quickly glancing over his recent edits, nothing jumps out at me as being inappropriate, but I'm just skimming. In general, if he make any edit that you disagree with, without it first being supported by a consensus, you should feel free to revert his edit or otherwise undo it, and then we all talk about it. That's the Wikipedia:BOLD, revert, discuss cycle for ya! :) --Alecmconroy 03:46, 18 November 2006 (UTC) Opus Dei RFCJess, after lots of NPOV problems, I have recently done a major rewrite on the Opus Dei article and am requesting comments on its talk page. I don't know if you know much about Opus Dei-- I still don't actually know that much about them, but you strike me as a fair, honest judge of articles, and I have no clue what your religous point of view is, which makes you an ideal candidate to serve as a frehs pair of eyes. Could you look over the page and comment on whether the rewrite is an improvment and maybe help out in the ensuing discussion? --Alecmconroy 08:24, 27 November 2006 (UTC) Civil unions in Vermont town pagesHi. I live in Boston, but had dinner with a Vermont town clerk on Saturday. She says that civil unions are categorized with marriages in vital statistics, and that in the first two years after enactment many Vermont towns reported greater numbers of civil unons than marriages. I asked her if they report civil unions as marriages in federal census and she said that it is done by the state which includes it. Knowing almost a dozen couples with civil unions I thought it made sense to chage this. I am surely open to additional opinions. I started first in towns and incorporated villages where I knew gay or lesbian couples. It seems a shame to describe their homes as non-family households. 14:02, 27 November 2006 (UTC) Thanks for checking out that discussion on the article's talk page - feel free to chime in there if you see a better solution. I'm not usually such an extremist, but material stating that someone was involved in a sex tape seems to me to be exactly the reason WP:BLP exists, so I can't see taking a softer line. | Mr. Darcy talk 17:54, 1 January 2007 (UTC) Hampshire?I just saw you in Category:Wikipedians by alma mater: Hampshire College when I added the userbox myself. Re: Times-Argus reporter ladyHi Jessamyn. Thanks for your note. I did speak with Susan. She seemed very nice, and I am curious to read her article. She mentioned she had spoken with you. I tend to go back and forth writing/editing articles about Vermont and about typography. I wonder if you have John Duffy's The Vermont Encyclopedia. and if so, do you like it? Thanks. I got one error message the first time about spam, and the second time I got this: "Sorry, but your comment has been flagged by the spam filter running on this blog: this might be an error, in which case all apologies. Your comment will be presented to the blog admin who will be able to restore it immediately. You may want to contact the blog admin via e-mail to notify him." Here is what I tried to add that I can't see how it could trip the spam filter warning (on the page called scrotum!): "Having only read the NYT first paragraph, I don't see the problem with the book yet. What I object to is the ALA awarding books top honors for 'children's books' when even the authors themselves would not give their own award winning books to their own children due to the inappropriate nature of the content for children."
