User talk:Jane Peppler
Wiki guidesHello Jane. Welcome to Wikipedia. As part of the current WikiGuides trial program, I've been given a list of 10 new editors to contact and offer to assist. Wikipedia can be frustrating to start out with, and there are a ton of long policy documents, technical discussion, and such that can be alienating. That said, a lot of the basics aren't too bad, and a lot of the bumps are easier with someone to help you roll with them. That would be me, Buster7. Feel free to write me at any point with any question by hitting the "Talk" button in my signature and posting on my Talk page. Give me a shout. I'm eager to assist in any way I can. WT:POLAND replyThanks for dropping us a line at Wikipedia_talk:POLAND#Polish_cabaret:_performers.2C_composers.2C_directors.2C_etc.. You have a reply waiting there (you may want to check the thread there daily if you post a question there, replies there will not cause any other notification like the ones here). --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 23:00, 1 March 2011 (UTC) Interwiki and DEFAULTSORTPlease add always interwiki links to your articles, I have created them for your two articles. I have added also DEFAULTSORT in Henech Kon.Xx236 (talk) 12:21, 2 March 2011 (UTC) Spam blacklist(... pause while I go to check my statements) ... huh! Okay, the situation has been resolved -- one of the two warring sites has gone under, the domain name is up for sale, etc. So I guess this is resolved. DS (talk) 18:03, 3 March 2011 (UTC) I want to make a new subcategory of "Jewish composers and songwriters" called "Jewish composers and songwriters in Europe" (as opposed to a currently existing subcategory called "Jewish American composers and songwriters." How do I do it? Thanks. Jane Peppler (talk) 19:10, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
Buster Seven Talk 05:44, 8 March 2011 (UTC) Buster7 has given you a Nice Koekjes which promote fellowship, goodwill and WikiLove. Hopefully this one has made your day better. You can spread the good flavor of Nice Koekjes around Wiki World by giving someone else one. Maybe to a friend or, better yet, to someone you have had disagreements with in the past. Nice Biscuits are very tasty and have been known to calm even the most savage beast. Enjoy! Buster Seven Talk

Wow! You have been a very productive editor. I just wanted to say thanks for all your great contributions. I'm really happy you are helping expand Wikipedia. Did you know you've already created 15 new articles? You can see them here. Well, you probably already know, but WOW! I mean... Well you know what I mean. That's just great. Anyhoo, I've been working on a guide to help people reference articles. It's at Wikipedia:List-defined reference how-to guide. I was wondering if you'd mind looking at it and let me know how I could improve it. If you have time, that is. Thanks again for all your great contributions. Best regards. - Hydroxonium (T•C•V) 15:14, 15 March 2011 (UTC) Re: Your list-defined reference pageHello. You have a new message at Hydroxonium's talk page. - Hydroxonium (T•C•V) 17:10, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
CategoriesI've created Category:Polish cabaret performers (it is the first nationality-based cabaret performers category :) ). Please try to add people-based categories to people articles (people should not be in categories such as cabaret of film, but film actors, cabaret performers and so on), for obvious reasons. Please try to add interwikis, deafultsort, proper categories, page assessment templates and such. We (I) really appreciate your contributions, and would love to help you if you have any questions. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 02:46, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
flummoxed (as usual) - this time, by disambiguationHi, I've worked on a Polish composer Dawid_Beigelman There are many spellings of his name (more, even, than I put in the article) and several end up pointed to David Begelman Argh. I don't think I am up to figuring this out....
how do I set up a disambiguation page so if somebody were to search for David Beygelman (or some other spelling of this name) they would arrive at a page that asks them to choose which D. B. they are after. Jane Peppler (talk) 18:53, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
Please make your articles comply with the standard Wikipedia opening line: "XXX (dates) is/was a (nationality) (occupation)." The opening line is very important as it's what people see in various search systems. The article at present starts with "Born 1894 in Minsk, White Russia, Zina moved to Warsaw with her parents.": so who was Zina, why has she got a Wikipedia article, etc? It should be obvious from that first sentence. And do we have a death date for her? PamD (talk) 18:46, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

We will be looking for more WP:Campus Ambassadors to train in the United States for Fall 2011, and I think you would make an excellent candidate to participate. Campus Ambassadors are trained primarily to support Wikipedia Teaching assignments at Universities, but that same skills training is useful in doing general outreach such as faculty presentations and workshops for Teaching technologists and librarians. We were initially attached to the Public Policy Initiative, however, we plan to branch out in to many other topic areas for the fall. If you are interested add your contact information on this page, and we will contact you over the summer as we begin applications and training, Sadads (talk) 11:35, 17 April 2011 (UTC) AutopatrolledHello, this is just to let you know that I have granted you the "autopatrolled" permission. This won't affect your editing, it just automatically marks any page you create as patrolled, benefiting new page patrollers. Please remember:
Reviewer grantedHello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged revisions, underwent a two-month trial which ended on 15 August 2010. Its continued use is still being discussed by the community, you are free to participate in such discussions. Many articles still have pending changes protection applied, however, and the ability to review pending changes continues to be of use. Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under level 1 pending changes and edits made by non-reviewers to level 2 pending changes protected articles (usually high traffic articles). Pending changes was applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges. For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't grant you status nor change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Dabomb87 (talk) 21:59, 17 April 2011 (UTC) Use of YouTube as a sourceHi, I notice that you frequently cite YouTube as a source in your articles. You are probably unaware that YouTube is not considered a reliable source. However, if a YouTube clip is from a film that has been published somewhere, you can cite the film's name as a reliable source.Hoops gza (talk) 11:46, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
Requesting your insights and perspectivesDear Jane, thank you for all your work for the Encyclopedia. I'd like to invite you to contribute to the DRN concerning adding L. Susan Brown to the 'See also' section of The Zeitgeist Movement (TZM). Some of us believe the inclusion of Brown’s deep knowledge and perspective is helpful not just for her expertise, and for the sake of fairness, but, more importantly, because it provides a female perspective that would supply depth and context to the TZM article. Other editors oppose that view. Best regards, IjonTichyIjonTichy (talk) 14:19, 18 July 2012 (UTC) Hi, ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!
