Would appreciate your eye on my work

I have currently worked to develop Draft:1986-7 John Deere-UAW labor dispute detailing the 1986 strike which predates this current one. However, I am a UAW member who is part of the group in the 2021 strike. Obviously I have a COI, so I avoided the current one. Gwennie-nyan Hey, so I went ahead and read over it and have a couple of comments about the draft. This is by no means exhaustive and the AfC reviewers might have their own comments, but just from what I saw here it goes:
  • First of all, Earwig checks out, no real indication of any copyright violation or plagiarism, which is good.
  • Per MOS:DATERANGE, I'd change 1986-7 to 1986–1987, also using an en dash instead of a hyphen.
  • I'd make some note near the beginning of the article that Deere & Company does business as John Deere. It may be obvious, but it's never really expressly stated in the article.
  • Per MOS:DIGITS, I would change some of the 4-digit numbers so that either all of them contain commas (eg, 4,000) or none of them contain commas (eg, 3000), as the article right now uses both formats
  • "On Monday, August 25, Deere & Company, stopped production", I'd remove the comma after Company in this sentence.
  • Per MOS:ALLCAPS, I'd edit the titles of the references.
  • Additionally with regards to the sources, it's good practice to archive them.
  • Per MOS:SEASONS, I'd recommend choosing other heading titles that don't include the seasons.
  • In the section titled "Late Summer 1986", a sentence mentions some Ottumwa workers who had been on a "summer shutdown", if possible maybe include some additional information for this, like if it was related to this other labor dispute.
  • In the section titled "Early Winter 1986", the paragraph starting with "On December 10, Deere's fiscal year" is repeated.
  • Also with that paragraph, I'm not sure if having "(see § Late Summer 1986, above)" is all that necessary, as the article as a whole is not that long.
  • Per MOS:PERCENT, I'd change all instances of "%" to "percent".
  • In the section titled "Late Winter 1987 and strike end", I'd remove the "≈" sign from "approximately ≈9250 active UAW members", as having "approximately" there makes that symbol a bit redundant.
  • In the section titled "August partial strike and subsequent lockout", it may be good to explain the distinction between laid-off and active employees. Are they retirees? Were they recently fired? It might be better to say that those 22,000 were represented by the UAW contract than that they were part of the workforce.
  • In the section titled "Late Summer 1986", did the unemployment office offer any rationale for their decision in denying their claims? Any statement given?
  • In that same section, where is WQAD-TV located?

In addition to these comments, I can say that after first reading I didn't notice anything substantial that would make me question the POV, it seems that the information presented is well-cited and I didn't notice any real bias. I have resolved all easily-resolvable issues. The page can now be found at Draft:1986–1987 John Deere-UAW labor dispute.
  • Regarding the Ottumwa workers, I found no other information. However it does not seem that the shutdown is related to the dispute. However that would need to be cited.
  • Regarding the unemployment decision, no statement was made. The sources just said the lot were denied along the lines of the company's argument.

Arco Chemical Channelview, Texas explosion

Is there another source for the $100MM of damages associated with the 1990 explosion at Arco Chemical's Channelview, Texas plant? I was considering marking it as dubious. The article states ARCO (actually Arco Chemical or ACC) spent $36MM for repairs, upgrades and safety system improvements, and the total damage estimate was $100MM. Therefore, it follows that about $64MM was spent to repair damages outside the Channelview plant. This seems implausible as no damages external to the plant are mentioned in the article. It also seems the damage estimate was high ($100MM vs the $16MM ACC spent excluding the safety system improvements) and used by the Chronicle freelance reporter as the actual cost. Unless a source can be found to substantiate the actual cost, I suggest deleting the estimate or rewording the article to state the actual costs incurred by ACC were a fraction of the original estimate. I have provided two reliable sources (one university-level textbook and one mainstream newspaper) that both state that the estimated damages from the explosion were approximately $100 million. I see no reason to not include the information provided by these sources. To the best of my abilities, I also included all other information provided by other reliable sources documenting the costs from the explosion. I do not know the process by which these sources determined the $100 million value, but unless you can provide reliable sources that contradict these values, I would advocate for leaving them in the article. -JJonahJackalope (talk) 19:13, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
Since the only source for the actual damages is Arco Chemical, I will revise the article keeping the $100MM estimate as you suggest and noting ACC only spent $36MM. 2020 Indian General Strike and more or less tolerable narratives

Hello there, my honourable colleague. I have the honour to acquaint you with the following: you being an authour of various articles on industrial disputes, including Twenty Twenty Indian General Strike, It is necessary to ask you about the primary and secondary sources, for you are certain to be much more well-versed in the province of various sources than myself. The point is that I have been writing a Russian article on the above-mentioned strike action, but I am just unaware of various sites which furnish a great deal of official reports, various legal documents, more or less tolerable narratives. Writing an article, using dubious newspaper accounts (I am talking about opportunistic and absolutionary Jacobin) is a very, very complicated task, in accordance with my opinion.

I do not know whether you have an opportunity to help me or not, for, in theory, there are no more or less voluminous sources, except a set of newspaper accounts given in the lower part of English article on this strike, although this strike is vitally important for the current development of international labour movement. It is blatantly obvious that the article in English Wikipedia is not very valuable, and its social impact is certain not to be very, very impressive. The situation in Russian Wikipedia is not the same, though, for my attempt to describe and discuss the afore-mentioned strike is certain to be a partial failure.

It is evident that our methods of description are pretty different from one another, but I sincerely hope that your reply will not be a drop of gall, even though, in conformity with the present-day rules of Wikipedia, I am certain to be worthy of the most bilious remarks.
