Drafts

I don't think it's really good practice to move your own drafts to mainspace. Since you can write in mainspace, the best way of keeping incomplete articles fro over-hasty deletion. is to use the "underconstruction" template if you can finish them within a day or two. Hi DGG. Thank you for the advice. I never knew about that under construction template. I think that AFC submissions are a good route for me to go in my future article creations since I feel that AFC reviewers can give me feedback and point me to specific areas of my articles that I need to work on. *@Knightrises10: Which edit are you referring to (can you provide the article that the edit was made on?). If this is just a general question, yes still warn them. You can either do it with a custom message 'your edit was in good faith but it was wrong because ...' or you can use one of the many twinkle warnings which can be used for good faith warnings (ie Original research, addition of improperly sourced content or any number of the single issue notices or single digit warnings (ie reverting self tests, not using edit summaries etc). It's better to warn everyone even good faith (especially editors who make wrong edits in good faith). Again follow my advice above about how to warn editors who made a good faith yet wrong edit (custom message: Your edit was in good faith but was wrong because.. or use a twinkle warning ,there are twinkle warnings for pretty much all behavior that an editor makes). good Luck.JC7V-constructive zone 14:52, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Knightrises10: Yes you did fine. The editor made a unsourced change and you corrected him/her and gave him/her a proper warning. Another option could have been to let his/her edits stand but for you to insert a citation needed tag next to the newly added info. Citation Needed tag info can be found here. That edit should be reverted (in good faith), because it is unsourced and because it is in the wrong place in the article (nothing goes above an article tag). I would warn them with a custom message 'your edit was reverted because it is unsourced and because it was in an improper place in the article, nothing goes above an article tag that is at the top of an article'. @Knightrises10:,Hi ,follow this link for info. Generally, I increase the warning for every edit they make that is vandalism/unconstructive. There is also a 4im warning which is a one time only final warning, but that is used in really extreme cases (ie if the editor makes a death threat, or harasses an editor or something like that) If the editor who vandalized and was blocked and has vandalized again within 1 day of coming off the block, you can report them to AIV or give them a 4im warning (your twinkle ARV dropdown menu mentions that). @Knightrises10:, Ok, the name change edit that they made was unsourced reverting it and warning them about changing it without providing a reliable source was a good move. You can have given them a uw-unsourced1 warning or a uw-biog1 (put {{ }} on both sides of those words when you warn) warning too but I am not 100 percent clear on that. All i did was try to fix the article up (the editor who tagged nominated it for deletion tagged nominated it after I finished working on it).   • @Ubhasrk: Hello ,Ubhsrk. I am not a AFC reviewer. I just was another set of eyes on your draft who wanted to give you feedback. I monitor new pages (Special:NewPages) and sometimes drafts so I can give positive feedback to new users who create articles or drafts to help their articles or drafts grow (since I got similar help from another user on one of my first articles I created;Susan Mikula, which is still awaiting review). Whether or not having all areas of each section being sourced is required or if there are very few possible exceptions is moot. It certainly doesn't hurt to do so because some of the best articles on this site are sourced from start to finish(you should strive to create the best article you can so there is no chance of it being declined by the Article for Review team)

The tag is to motivate you to add more references to show that the group meets WP:CORP. Like removing a prod tag, removing that tag without a good reason is frowned upon by the community.   • @Allines: Hi, there is no time frame like with Prod tags or CSD tags. The maintenance tags are just to foster improvement on the articles not to tag it for deletion. Some current articles have been tagged with maintenance notability tags for years. The maintenance tags are more of a 'SoFixIt so there is no chance that the article is deleted' as opposed to 'Delete the article unless the article is fixed'. Hope that helps. You will find that, among other things, it is the title of a biography of her. I don't think her biographer would have got the title wrong. The claim that his team has a record number of state titles is probably enough of a credible claim of notability to make your A7 fail (the claim does not have to .be sufficient to show notability). I would suggest replacing it with a WP:STICKYPROD as an unourced BLP. If the editor does not provide some real sources the article will automatically be deleted in 7 days. The article as it was created was just an excuse for boosterism, and I have my doubts that the article creator will bother to make a real article of it.   • @Meters: Hi, thanks for the head ups. I should have looked more thoroughly. I made a error in judgement due to the boosterism nature of and it being unsourced. But I removed the STICKYPROD and I expanded and sourced the article. I hit a brick wall with sources. Nearly all of the sources are local sources (ESPN has a few articles with extreme passing mentions of Severino, not even really noting his accomplishments). I'll take a look. I'm not a high school coach guy so I'm not familiar with how much is needed for an article. It's quite possible he would fail at AFD, but my guess is it wouldn't be a unanimous decision.
I wasn't trying to give you a hard time at all. The barrier is quite low for an A7, and mistakes are not uncommon. If an article makes any credible claim at all of importance (even if it would not be sufficient notability to warrant an article) an A7 is out.   • @Goodtiming8871: Hi, I looked at your draft, and on a casual glance it looks good. But I have some suggestions.
  • 1) An infobox would be great to have in this article to summarize key points in an easy, concise way (for example see Camp_David_Accords and Cuban_thaw articles with infoboxes.
  • 2) Maybe tweaking your 'reactions' section to be like the reactions section in this article would be a good move.
  • 3) Maybe more sources (and some things in the article may need more than one source). Many of the best articles on Wikipedia have a lot of sources (I know its more about quality than quanity but why not have both quality and quantitative sources).
  • 4) Maybe expand and offer more details on the treaty itself in the article, including conditions and the sort.

@Barkeep49:, Hi, it wasn't a copy and paste move. I tagged the version that discospinster moved into draft space. When he/she moved Relentless Church into draft space, he/she left a copy of the original article in mainspace. I slightly expanded and added references to the latter (I only tagged the version that was moved into draft space). I didn't realize that when i was adding refs to the article that a copy of it was already in draft space. Once I saw there were 2 versions of it and the one i worked on had enough refs to be in mainspace, I blanked the draft and added a redirect link, linking it to the mainspace Relentless Church article that I was working on JC7V-constructive zone 20:49, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Tyw7: My vote was a Weak Keep and the difference between 'Weak Keep' (on Copperhead Strike) and 'Delete' (on Dynamite) wasn't that big of a gap. Another reason for the differences in votes was that construction on Dynamite halted in June briefly (construction on Copperhead Strike never halted). Also the sources and arguments provided in the AFD for Copperhead Strike makes me believe it should be a Weak Keep while the sourcing and arguments provided in the Dynamite AFD didn't do that for me. Keep in mind, MBlaze Lightning also voted Keep for Copperhead Strike and Delete for Dynamite JC7V-constructive zone 01:32, 10 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

2003 LSU roster issue

hello jc. didnt mean to cause any issues with my minor edit last night. i was the assistant team manager for the 2003 lsu tigers football team. one of the althetes, mark bixby, passed away on sept 4th. when i came across the wiki page i noticed not only was his name not on it, but the roster, in general, was wholly incomplete. as you can see from your source, the roster is double number for o\d, and that is the pre season roster, not the final, including number change, transfers etc. and the name i edited last night was wrong itself, and who knows how long it has been like that. i was wondering if i can volunteer to moderate that page and get the roster up to date (it was a championship season for the tigers), at a minimum, make the approrite roster changes to show respect for those no longer with us. thank you for your time. sorry if i did something wrong, i have never used wiki before. hey jc. all i would have is my own personal notebooks. the internet wasn't what it was now back then. a number of players from that year will turn up no result, even on lsus archives. if that isnt an acceptable source i understand and its all good. but again, check the name that i changed out from #47, it wasnt correct and had been wrong for who knows how long. the change you made was not back to the same name. @Malibuxboy:, Hi. I don't doubt you. You may be right, but based on the searches and sources I found I couldn't find that player on LSU's 2003 roster. I think that using your personal notebooks as a source would fall under WP:OR (original research), which is against policy. You can go to the talk page of the article, and say what you said to me here, and try to gain consensus for the inclusion of Mark's name into the roster section. You can also go to the Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard and see if you can use your notes as a source for the inclusion (but I don't think it is allowed but you can try). Thank you for editing. Correction on Cyrus McCormick

Your message regarding undoing my correction to the Cyrus McCormick article is puzzling. The existing article had the name of an author wrong (Green should be Greeno). The error is in a source--how do you give a source for a correction to a source citation? In any case, there is already a link to information about the Greeno book; if you follow that link, you will see that the author's name is Greeno, not Green. After researching you are right. I added it back to the article. You made a change in the last name of someone in a reference so your edit seemed off to me. Then I searched for Follett on google and I got a bunch of hits for 'Follett L Green' but I didn't see any for Follett L Greeno so i reverted you. However, after reading your message here I did another search in the link and found you are right. Sorry for the mistake. I meant you should have provided a link to the correct name of Greeno in your edit summary showing that his last name was Greano. That's what I meant. There is no template message for that. Dr Aaij, as you likely know Wikipedia is the encyclopedia that anyone can edit, at any time, for any reason. If a student needs to make an edit to get the credit, and someone else does the edit first, then your system is rather flawed and should be amended. For example, the student could make a copy in their userspace (giving appropriate attribution in their edit summary), make all of the course-required changes, and then copy it back over to the "live" article. I'm wondering how you think that these edits were a joke? So far as I know, as someone writing a book on a Hanna-Barbera theme park in Canada, there is no evidence that theme parks in Mexico, Argentina, Malaysia, Singapore, South Africa, and New Zealand had HB sections. Thus, they should at minimum be {{cite}}, and more likely should be removed entirely.
