How we will see unregistered usersHi! You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki. When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed. Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help. If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter. We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. Its Talk page isn’t very active so I hope you don't mind my writing you here. My name is Barry L. Kramer and I am Blondie's official archivist and the owner of the Blondie Gig List. This list contains entries for all of the band's known shows and appearances, among other things. The reason I'm writing you is in regard to an entry in the Ramones article: September 14, 1976 (with Blondie) at Sal's Last Chance Saloon in Poughkeepsie NY. I have been unable to confirm this date as including Blondie. It does not have a specific citation listed there or obvious from the article revision history. I used Google Books to search within On The Road With The Ramones by Melnick and Meyer, which appears to be an important source for the article, and I don't see that show. Unfortunately, I don't own that book. The other thing I'll mention is that the Ramones article's use of "Performance Studio" as a venue in New York City is inconsistent with my research, which has the venue correctly named in the plural, "Performance Studios". Secondary sources of documentary evidence for that include the text of four vintage print ads included (from microfilm) in the Blondie Gig List for shows in 1974 and 1975, and Debbie Harry's 1982 autobiography Making Tracks, page 19, available for search in Google Books. Another thorough searchable book there with it plural is Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punk by McNeil and McCain. I believe "Performance Studio" is an error arising from some of the text and inconsistent usage in On The Road With The Ramones. There is also this to support my assertion:
I was hesitant to simply modify these in place since I'm not a Ramones expert. I would certainly be willing to put this reasoning on the article's Talk page and make these edits, but other than this, I don't have time to defend the changes if challenged. What do you think? That language would be grammatically incorrect, which is what I tried to fix in my edit. One would not have a singular "an" for a plural "auditions". Or a singular performance. WikiCup 2023 September newsletterThe fourth round of the competition has finished, with anyone scoring less than 673 points being eliminated. It was a high scoring round with all but one of the contestants who progressed to the final having achieved an FA during the round. The highest scorers were
Between them during round 4, contestants achieved 12 featured articles, 3 featured lists, 3 featured pictures, 126 good articles, 46 DYK entries, 14 ITN entries, 67 featured article candidate reviews and 147 good article reviews. Congratulations to our eight finalists and all who participated! It was a generally high-scoring and productive round and I think we can expect a highly competitive finish to the competition. Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5.
