Just notifying you

Hi, just notifying you that I've nominated "Cartman's Mom is a Dirty Slut" for GAn. I no longer have access to the audio commentary, so if you have some spare time (don't feel obligated of course), there's problably a bunch of info left. Also, have you decided to help me out with those Seinfeld sources. If not, I don't mind, but just let me know if you have read the message.--Music26/11 19:18, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

Don't worry about them. Because you didn't reply I contacted TheLeftorium with the same question. You don't have to worry about it, thanks for your message.--Music26/11 10:56, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

I was just wondering, is there a reason you didn't put this up for GA? n

I was actually going through a c/e after a break and I didn't know why when I was pressing edit the text was different, when I noticed you are adding more stuff. From past experiences, GANs tend to take forever, so from a statistical point of view there isn't really a hurry. As for FAC, whenever you guys have time to deal with it, feel free to submit it there, even if the GAN is not done. Nergaal (talk) 23:48, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

Well, the primary issue that struck, besides the copyedited bits, was the lack of a source for the citation under "Removal of Kunster and Kuby". THis lack of source is particularly striking given the citation is formatted separately from the neighbouring paragraphs. Circéus (talk) 23:00, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

I think that particular section is fine (It does a good job of showing the bizarreness of what happened and what was to come), but you might want to try and condense the "Pretrial" section as a whole. It feels like it's too long compared to "Trial" (but maybe it's okay in regard to the actual eventfulness of the pretrial itself). Circéus (talk) 23:17, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

Page Size Check

Hello Hunter Kahn. I was browsing the DYK talk page and saw you had asked this question: "Incidentially, how can you tell how much K of readable prose there is? Is there an easy way to do that?"

There is indeed - simply install this script (by pasting {{subst:js|User:Dr pda/prosesize.js}} into your monobook.js page). Once done you'll find a link in your toolbox which, when clicked, will display the size of the page and the size of the prose. Hope that is of some use. Nick Ottery (talk) 13:28, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

It's definitely nothing to feel stupid about - the monobook.js is a bit of a hidden secret! Basically it is a javascript page that sits behind the monobook skin and adds in some extra functionality on certain Wikipedia pages. In this case when it detects you are looking at an article it adds the "Page Size" link to the toolbox on the left hand side. To edit your monobook.js page you just head to User:Hunter Kahn/monobook.js and paste in that subst text I gave above. Save the page just like a normal article and you should be set to go. Head to the article page you want to know the size of and then click on the Page Size link in the left hand toolbox. You also need to make sure you are using the Monobook skin (the default) in your preferences! Hopefully that makes it all a bit clearer but any problems let me know. Tender Mercies

Thanks for your message. I have lately been observing that a very large number of FA candidates and articles are inadequately introduced. I am having a blitz on that aspect in particular. A great number of introductory paragraphs are missing important things like dates, country or the name of a significant person, an architect when dealing with a famous building, for example.

A very large number of articles about American subjects do not state the country, even when they give the state. It is almost as if there is only one country in the world! In the present instance, no I'm not satisfied. I think that the word "American" needs to be link to "United States", not to "United States Film Industry".

About my voting, I have had a small input into a very large number of potential FA articles, in many cases only concerning myself with the first few lines. I don't usually vote unless I know the subject well enough to assess whether it has been well covered. Amandajm (talk) 08:07, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi HunterKahn,

I see a few hours ago (7.00 UTC) you "moved" the latter page to the former by cut-and-pasting the content. This is better accomplished by deleting the redirect and moving the redirected article into its place, which preserves its history and talk. I've this proposed Practice Date for speedy deletion so I, you or another can do this.

I've no objection to this move, though I seem to recall some discussion on what the article should be called, and indeed I created I think the latter article after that discussion - whether placing it at Practice Date was having it squat on a primary topic. If I had any objection then, I do not now, since patently nobody else has attempted to introduce a DAB or anything. However, it is best accomplished with a proper move which preserves the page history and talk. I note you have created a talk page Talk:Practice Date to classify the article in projects etc but that also will be moved from the (P & R) article.

So, this is just to reassure you, I mm not attempting to delete the content! Just to accomplish the move properly so that the article history and talk are preserved. Depending on how quickly the speedy delete is actioned (assuming it is), I will do the move myself. In the mean time, nothing is broken (I've just undone your cut and paste).

Best wishes, Si Trew (talk) 10:12, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Salahis

I saw your comment about not having 3 articles for a similar subject. Normally, in Wikipedia, it's the event, not the person. However, I think there is much interest in the Salahis and their colorful background. I also have doubts that the gatecrashing incident should even be a Wikipedia article, though a mention in the Presidency of Barack Obama article may be appropriate, particularly if there is some fallout over it. Buckley clip

Hey. I think a Buckley clip would be fine--even two clips is a such a minuscule portion of the film's total soundtrack, there's certainly no legal fair use issue. As for the stricter Wikipedia fair use standard, it still qualifies as highly informative; I'd just note the Oscar nomination in the clip's caption to help underscore its significance. DocKino (talk) 19:15, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

Great job with the audio clips. The second one's real informative too, isn't it? The one song to get an Oscar nomination barely sounds country (to these ears) at all. DocKino (talk) 02:43, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Maurice Clemmons mugshot.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Maurice Clemmons mugshot.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. I certainly think it would be a good addition--to the "Awards" section, yes? It's probably close to the borderline in terms of our fair use policy. (If he or anyone else happens to have offered a referenceable description of his emotions at the ceremony, that would certainly help the Wikilegal case.) I'd say go for it, and see if anyone says boo. DocKino (talk) 04:54, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Joey Pollari DYK

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is 2008 Barack Obama assassination scare in Denver. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2008 Barack Obama assassination scare in Denver. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:05, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Salahis

I agree with your idea of having one article for Mr. and Mrs. Salahi. If their biography becomes more developed, then each can have their own article. I usually think that the event should have an article but their colorful history is starting to become to the point where a biographical article is appropriate. Having 2 biographies and a gatecrashing article is a bit much so possibly just one biographical article is enough and no event article.

Here's where Wikipedia rules conflict. Usually it's the event that is covered but having the event and 2 biographies to really too much. Suomi Finland 2009 (talk) 01:34, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

Would you then be in favor of not having the event article? If the event results in firing of Secret Service people and maybe a widespread event name (currently there's not), then that's reason to have a separate event article. But in the meantime, is there reason not to have an event article? Suomi Finland 2009 (talk) 01:47, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

IMHO the Salahi biographical info needs to be removed from or minimized on the gate crash page since it's well covered on their own pages. scooteristi (talk) 16:27, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Real Housewives of Washington DC

Personally I don't feel The Gate Crashing Incident needs to be mentioned on the Real Housewives of Washington DC page beyond describing Michaele as a gate crasher. There are plenty of other articles that describe it in detail. I didn't remove the gate crash paragraph per AfD, I removed it because IMHO it is not germane or relevant to the article beyond a adjective about Michaele. However, if feel you you must keep the paragraph about the incident, then you need to rewrite the paragraph so it is about the show and not about Salahis: "The show spent the day filming the Salahis preparation, followed her to XXX salon, and then followed the couple to the White House gates." scooteristi (talk) 16:29, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

White Zombie

Go for it for White Zombie, the current reviewer is all over the place and I'd greatly value a second opinion. Thanks for your help on the article! You've done a great job with all your South Park and other television related articles too! I might take you on on that Clouzot challenge too. Thanks for taking time to review the article! Andrzejbanas (talk) 00:13, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

LittleMiss

To my knowledge she hasn't been blocked, but she hasn't replied and according to her talk page, she's given up on the review without failing it or passing it or asking for a second opinion because she felt the article was beyond help or something. I tried to take some of her advice, but since some of it went against Manual of Style standards I didn't make it completely her style. I'd leave a talk message on her page that you are willing to take over the review and get to it. She does not seem to like me very much. :) Andrzejbanas (talk) 03:47, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Parks and Recreation (season 1)

Thank you very much for the kind words! I've had a blast working on the Parks and Recreation stuff, and you yourself have been doing such an amazing job with the individual episode pages. I went looking and couldn't find anything directly linking his departure from P-Rex with Hank, although this TV Squad article comes pretty close I thought. Tell me if you think it is appropriate and it can be added to the Season 1 page. SchrutedIt08 (talk) 08:56, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Katarzyna Dolinska

Hi, per a request on my talk page, there is some interest in trying to recreate an article about Katarzyna Dolinska. If you have some time, and are interested in helping out, the current article is sitting here. Normally, this sort of thing could be started in article space, but due to some unfortunate article history (see my talk page if you are interested), there is some concern that it would be immediately nominated at AFD/CSD before having a chance to be developed further. I thought I would let you know since you are very good at building new articles (when its feasible). Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 05:19, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

GA review

Hey, thanks for doing the GA review for Beck v. Eiland-Hall. I will get to addressing issues very soon, I am just in the middle of researching a new article on the topic of Freedom of speech. Cirt (talk) 18:06, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

Okay, great. I think you will also like this new article once I save it live. :) Cirt (talk) 18:09, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

If you can just disambiguate polymorphously from the last sentence in Themes, I'll pass it! Great work! CTJF83 chat 04:33, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
Yep! Passed, tomorrow, I might take a look at your elephant episode. CTJF83 chat 04:40, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
Thank you!!! :-D CTJF83 chat 07:41, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
I haven't seen it at all, and I'm one that reviews GACs on topics I like/have an interest in. I'll consider looking at your Parks pages, but prefer SP :) CTJF83 chat 20:38, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

The article An Elephant Makes Love to a Pig you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. If these are fixed within seven days, the article will pass, otherwise it will fail. See Talk:An Elephant Makes Love to a Pig for things needed to be addressed. CTJF83 chat 09:58, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

Ok, looks good now, I don't have time before work to do the official stuff, but I'll get to it after work, congrats! CTJF83 chat 22:32, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
Let me know when you have another South Park GAC, I enjoy reviewing those. CTJF83 chat 20:06, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
