Circadian rhythm leadHi -- the sentence "Circadian rhythms are endogenous and can be entrained by external cues..." seems confusing to me. The words "and" and "but" are both conjunctions having the same logical meaning -- "but" is used in situations where what follows is unexpected in light of what came before. Given that circadian rhythms are generated internally, it will be unexpected that external cues control them, so the word "but" is needed for clarity, I think. It might help to consider an equivalent case: "The moon generates the tides but the sun also influences them" versus "The moon generates the tides and the sun also influences them". The two have the same logical meaning, but the first is easier to understand. Regards, Looie496 (talk) 17:44, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
