Hi. I helped you at your Secret page MFD. I said "Strong keep them all per Wikipedia:Why do you care?." and then I put more stuff about how your contributions are good for Wikipedia:Why do you care?. Hopefully that helps the pages not be deleted. I just wanted to let you know that I voted in case there is some boom of people saying "keep" and you are wondering why (although I doubt that my comment would help that much). --Hadger20:50, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
That's an amazing essay, and I can't believe I never saw it before. I hate, hate, hate these secret page deletions that serve absolutely no purpose, and I couldn't ever put why down into print until I saw that. I really hope your secret page comes out okay, Hi. I don't want to see another one put down. ALInomnom01:46, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
I will admit to having blatantly set you up with that question, but I think it got the argument across. Well done. ALInomnom02:39, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
I could tell that you set it up. Also, I know it won't work, because that was my original argument, and Cunard didn't exactly admit he was wrong and praise secret pages. :P Hi878 (talk) 03:17, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
I knew it was your original argument. We've been delivering the same argument to Cunard and he's been delivering the same one to us. The trick is to get the essence of the argument to stand out: rather than embed it in a wall of text, if you can get it our short and sweet, it will have more of an impact. And the idea isn't that Cunard will see it, the idea is that the closing admin will. :D ALInomnom11:55, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
I suppose I have been a bit wordy, haven't I? :P Have you noticed how long this is getting? Might be the longest Secret Page MfD ever. Except for this one, of course. Hi878 (talk) 17:56, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
I have tried to sign your guestbook but I think I'm doin' it wrong. In the edit page it shows my signature but on the normal page it dosen't show up. I don't know if I need to sign diffrent or something but I thought I should let you know something was wrong. Sign My Guestbook!User:Sumsum201023:02, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
No, I have no opinion in the matter, in fact, I had no idea about it. However, something like that would be something to discuss on the discussion page, not just do yourself. Hi878 (talk) 00:05, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
And that's why this doesn't deserve its own section. Unless Jews are being beaten to death in the open streets by Nazis and other anti-Semites, Malmö doesn't deserve this FOX News-sponsored allegation of being an "anti-Semite city" that it's currently being labeled as. And certainly not when giving it its own section. I live in Malmö myself, I've lived here my entire life, and I think this story is way overblown. --83.249.68.220 (talk) 00:08, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
Discuss it with other editors on the discussion page, don't let your personal bias get in the way. You may think that, but others may not. Don't just go ahead and remove the header without discussion. Hi878 (talk) 00:12, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
I apologize if what I am doing seems like I am supporting a smear of your city. All I am doing is asking you to make sure that other users agree with you before you make changes like that. The one you have made is fine for now, however, you still should discuss this with other editors here to see if they agree with even that page. Hi878 (talk) 00:46, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
I am not involved in these edits at all, but anyways, I'm sure that Hi878 thinks what they are doing to people in Malmö is wrong (in fact, I think it is, too). People editing an article about something that is wrong doesn't mean they support it. For example, articles on wars may be written by someone who experienced it and doesn't like it; they don't support it. I am sorry that you do not like that people are posting sections about that; I completely understand that, and I'm sure Hi878 does, too. --Hadger03:23, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
Exactly! I don't support it in any way. However, the section heading shouldn't just be removed like that. Discuss it with others, and if they agree, then there you go. And Hadger, does this mean I have a talk page stalker? :) Hi878 (talk) 03:31, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
Well, I think you need to get the Talk Page Stalker Userbox, then. :) It's on the page that the link in previous comment goes to. Now that you have admitted to being a talk page stalker, I'm going to expect you to answer everyone for me regularly, or I will be forced to whack you with this. Good luck with the stalking. :) Hi878 (talk) 03:36, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
....If I was inexperienced, you'd whack me with a minnow.... I'd rather be whacked with a minnow than be whacked with a trout, but since I'm experienced, you're going to have to use the trout (unless you count seven months as inexperienced). --Hadger03:42, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
Oh, I always use the trout. No minnows for me. :) Anyhoo, add this userbox so that the world can see who you really are. {{WP:TPS/userbox}} Happy stalking! :) Hi878 (talk) 03:45, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
Secret Page
Hey um...did I like, win or something?
The Secret Subpage Finder Barnstar
This user has found [[User:Hi878|Hi878]]'s secret hidden sub page! Will you be the next one to find it? Try it here!
Well, that's the wrong page, so no, you didn't find it. That's just the page for the barnstar, not the actual secret page. And just out of curiosity, how did you find it? Hi878 (talk) 00:16, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
Well, I found all of your pages, I just didn't want to list my name because I knew most of them were wrong. Anyway, I went up to the search bar and typed in "User:Hi878/" and then got a dropdown menu of all your subpages. I just wandered through all your secret pages, and then found the Barnstar.-Jakkinx|Talk|Sign!22:20, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
I, Hadger (talk), have the honor of presenting you the Wet Trout Award for the fact that you know I am a talk page stalker. Because of that, I am whacking you with this trout so you can forget! That way, you won't hit me with a trout if you catch that I am not stalking your page, and you won't know that I stalk your talk page (hopefully this trout makes you forget what a talk page stalker is...). I will now whack you with the wet trout! *Whack* There! Now you don't know I am a talk page stalker.... I mean.... This is a fish I am holding... *Whack again* Hi... I am holding a fish. --Hadger03:57, 13 April 2010 (UTC).
Hello, I just recently saw that you are Hadger's friend, and I am too. So, I'd like to introduce myself. I am RSRC. But now since my 30 days expired, I am the guy with an IP address. But anyways, hi! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.231.219.50 (talk) 21:13, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
Well, I can be your friend, but not in the way you might think. I won't be your friend as in just talking to each other, I'll be your friend as in... Well, as in the way anyone is anyone's friend on here. Hi878 (talk) 23:58, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
Secret page business
Would you consider limiting yourself to one secret page? That seems like the easiest way to safely "settle out" of the MFD, judging by the comments there. ALInomnom01:08, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
GOOD LORD! It was a no consensus, so not quite perfect, but they weren't deleted, so that work, I suppose. However, this no doubt means that they will be relisted, so don't congratulate me too soon. :) Hi878 (talk) 23:58, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
To answer a question you asked me on the MfD of your secret pages: I don't think their number should be cut down, but I did point out to someone who did that the option of doing so makes outright deletion needless. Fair winds and following seas. --Kizor01:03, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
Question from RSRC
So, Hi, Hi878! I was wondering, how do you create a thingy on the top right corner of your user page that says that you are around or online? I just wanted to know that so bad. Thanks (98.231.219.50 (talk) 20:31, 19 April 2010 (UTC)) or RealityShowsRCool
Read the documentation page, so you can figure out how to use it. You have to do it manually, you can't just put it up. :) And remember, sign your posts. Hi878 (talk) 00:31, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
H I T L E R37
Thanks! I hadn't even noticed. :) I guess when they start shooting at you, you know you're doing something right. Thanks again! WikipelliTalk04:47, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
So his brother logged on, made an account, vandalized ten times, and now the account is blocked. Even though that no doubt is a lie, why would he care? That obviously wasn't an account he made, so he can make another. Kind of ruins that argument, doesn't it? Hi878 (talk) 04:54, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Congratulations on getting rollback
Hi! I heard you received rollback privileges (I am a talk page stalker). Congratulations! Good luck with it! --Hadger18:31, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Since we both made edits on this page at the same time, you probably didn't get the new messages notice, so I'm posting this comment just in case. --Hadger18:40, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for your interest in igloo. I've added you to the script whitelist, so if you now try and run the program it should allow you to connect. I'm very busy atm, but any feedback or suggestions are still welcome. Ale_Jrbtalk21:34, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
Re: MOTD Problem
“The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.” — Douglas Adams, Mostly Harmless (1992)
Sorry, but I have not read your note about leaving that nomination on both places. I think it was better to move it to the Special nominations section. The motto has been showed on April 17, so we can not replace it. And, it is also scheduled for May 25. I think that the motto for the 25th of May must be replaced. I think we have two alternatives:
To replace the motto, which I think it is the correct choice.
To play dumb and leave it where it is.
I will not oppose the second option, but I would prefer to replace the motto with a new one. So, I searched the web for quotes by Douglas Adams and, in addition to the above quote that fits this situation perfectly, I found one that might be right for trying to replace the motto approved for May 25:
I like the first quote. We would need to come up with some links. Shall I just post it in the Specials section now, or wait for some revelation about what links to add? :) Hi878 (talk) 16:02, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Yes, the first one is probably better. I can't really think of any links for the first. So I have to relist this, right? And if it gets really close to May 25th, and hardly anyone has voted, what exactly would I do about that? Hi878 (talk) 01:26, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
One thing at a time. We can ask other participants to give their opinion about this nomination and briefly explain what happened. And then, we will decide what to do about it and whether to replace it or leave the approved motto where it is now. –pjoef (talk • contribs) 07:52, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Done ~ I added both quotes (1 and 2) to the Special nominations section (plus a note) and left a message inviting some MOTD contributors to express their opinion there. I believe that we can reach a solution over the next few days on this issue. Cheers –pjoef (talk • contribs) 10:03, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
It is not necessary to create a page for linking to an image ... anyway I personally do not like the idea of equating a temporary technical problem with something that it is impossible to repair. Also, it is not a great idea to link to an image, but sometimes it could be funny. –pjoef (talk • contribs) 22:08, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
Now it's perfect! And, the last link is so much better than the image. For the moment, there is no need for me to make a new comment in that section, because I already expressed my opinion in support for that version (edit 3, which has good change to be approved for the Towel Day.) Now, I have got to go to approve some mottos from the "normal" nominations section, because there is not a "BEEP" motto approved for tomorrow /o\!!! –pjoef (talk • contribs) 07:45, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Hi, no problem. I was in the process of reverting the second bit of vandalism but I don't have rollback and I have to undo each individually. I hope this was the right place to leave my comment because it is only my second week on Wikipedia... EdEColbert058501:10, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
Yes, this was the right place. :) I have a suggestion, that will make vandal fighting easier without rollback. Use Twinkle. You can activate it through the preferences page. With it, you can go to the history of any page, open the diff of the last good version, and then click the brown "restore this version" link. Saves a lot of time, only needing to click it once. Hope this helps! :) Hi878 (talk) 01:12, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
Oh! You do use Twinkle! My mistake. :) Didn't see the userbox before. Anyhoo, you can use that link to undo a bunch of vandalism at once. Hi878 (talk) 01:14, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
I just heard about and starting using Twinkle about half an hour ago and have not used the "restore this version" yet. I will try it when appropriate. Thanks for the help. EdEColbert058501:19, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi there! I´m glad you found my secret pages (3 & 4), which by the way do not violate the guidelines, since they´re all inside a page whose existence is ok (I mean that I didn´t created a whole page or subsection of mine just to have a secret page (which is discouraged)). Anyway, I do have a class-5, and to your other question, well, I´ll tell you what I think of yours when I find them. Sorry for the delay, I have been busy, and I just came out of a wikibreak. And here are your rewards:
- The Super Hidden Barnstar
This user has found Damërung's class-3 secret page, and therefore is entitled to display this barnstar. Do you think you can find it too?
- The Ultra Hidden Barnstar
This user was sharp enough to find Damërung's class-4 secret chamber, and therefore is entitled to display this barnstar. Do you think you can find it?
In other matters; I see that you have a nice "editing-the-talkpage-pre-message" just like me, and this one has some really nice features that I hope you don´t mind I steal (lololol). - ☩Damërung☩. -- 15:58, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
Don't worry, I stole it too. :) Thanks for the awards. I hope mine isn't too easy to find. :) Hi878 (talk) 18:29, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
Sorry
It was not my intention. It was just a little joke, and my intention was to make you laugh. I thought that a hidden signature was perfect for a hidden page. I'm sorry if I bothered you with those jokes. Best –pjoef (talk • contribs) 07:18, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for applying to access the account creation tool. I have approved your request so welcome to the team. You may now access the tool here. Before you do so, please read the tool's guidethoroughly to familiarize yourself with the process. You may also want to join #wikipedia-en-accounts on IRC where a bot informs us when new account requests come in and to get any advice on requests as well as the mailing list. Please note that we have implemented a policy of zero tolerance on mishandled requests, and that failure to assess correctly will result in suspension.
Currently you are allowed to create up to six accounts per day (a day being from 0:00 UTC to 23:59 UTC), although you won't be able to create an account with a similar name to that of another user; these requests are marked "Account Creator Needed". However, if you reach the limit frequently, you can request the account creator permission at WP:PERM.
Please keep in mind that the ACC tool is a powerful program, and misuse will result in your access being suspended by a tool administrator. Don't hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions. Thank you for participating in the account creation process. Again welcome! ---- Александр Дмитрий (Alexandr Dmitri) (talk) 07:06, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
Re your message: Not a problem. =) With two editors vandalizing, it is very easy to mess the reverting up. I've made big messes when there is tag team vandalizing going on. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 03:27, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
Why are you assigning editors such as PrincessofLlyr and me roles (ruler of the seas, Australia)? I wouldn't mind if you hadn't been copying our sigs, which makes it look like we were the ones doing it. I'm not against this cabal or anything, just the usage of others' sigs. Thanks, Airplaneman ✈23:51, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
Please do note that I am not advocating deletion here, nor was I in the case of White Shadow's cabal page. However, I thought you would benefit from being aware of my concerns and the resultant discussions that occured from them. Personally I think I may have over-reacted, but it is useful to view what others may see/think the first time they view their watchlist and see lots of such content. Hope this helps, --Taelus (Talk) 11:34, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
That would make me under the jusristiction of User:I dream of horses considering that the German Confederation was inside of Europe. And as for the enemies section, how about vandals and trolls as enemies. Afterall, this cabal should have a wiki-related pourpose right?--White Shadowsyou're breaking up00:01, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
By the way, you can't be ambassador to somewhere on Earth, it has to be somewhere else. If you want to lead a country, or group of countries that are all in one continent, be in the continental leaders section. Or you can rule Australia. :) Hi878 (talk) 00:10, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
I meant sign both the secret page, and the secret page list. :) I'll move your sig back to the page. This one is just for the barnstar. :) You can have the award now, I suppose. Hi878 (talk) 01:08, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
I think I needed that. :) Don't worry, I promise to stop that. I'll focus on fighting vandals, now. Except, of course, my secret page, which takes up almost no time, anyways. Hi878 (talk) 03:19, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
I figured something went wrong. I was all set to give you a vandalism warning, and then I realized you were an established user, and I realized it was probably a mistake. No problem. The Blade of the Northern Lights (talk) 03:39, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
I've talked to the Igloo creator, he may be able to implement something to stop this from happening, it seems to be happening a lot. Hi878 (talk) 03:43, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
Earth Cabal tag
Hey, don't forget to remove the tag from everyone's tagged pages (list of them here) as it is creating a red link at the top of their talk pages. (Alternately, I guess, they could do it themselves... just giving you a friendly poke). Airplaneman ✈02:14, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
Well, they didn't get to me. I still am keeping the secret pages. However, if you looked over the talk page, you would see that I was going way to far with it. I'm actually embarrassed, now. :) Hi878 (talk) 22:23, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
You could start by expanding it from the essay at HistoryLink, as well as Google Books results: this genealogy, this, mentioning his involvement in the Minneapolis Tribune, this blurb about his early work in Seattle, and something here about lawsuit in which he was the defendant. Also, this excellent bio piece (if you can't access it through your library, I can send you a copy of the whole thing, just drop me a note), this image from the Tribune, and a little something about the company and his family today. Cheers, —fetch·comms00:27, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
My problem isn't finding information (although I hadn't seen a few of those, so thank you). My problem is actually writing the article, I just have no idea where to go. Hi878 (talk) 02:32, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
It highlighted all of Tommy2010's edits in red. I was telling this to Tommy2010 when I noticed you reverted him. So yes, you apparently blacklisted Tommy2010 on igloo. ~NerdyScienceDude (✉ message • changes) 22:59, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
I'm using Huggle, which is semi-automated and will place a warning on the vandal's talk page when I press a button. It will look at what other warnings have been placed on that day and then add the appropriate level. I guess since the vandal had not been warned yet today, Huggle just went with level 1. I don't know if it's the same person that was warned three days ago, so I couldn't necessarily say that I would have blocked if I were doing it manually. (Because of the report on AIV, Huggle offered me the chance to block, and I just went with it.) Anyway, it's only a short block so it's no big deal. ...discospinstertalk02:06, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
RfA thanks
Thank you for voting in my RfA, which passed with 99 support, 9 oppose, and 2 neutral. Your support was much appreciated.
Oh, okay. I didn't know I added the admin userbox! Thank you for your concerns and suggestions of help or problems. Thank you! Beamer103 (talk) 20:46, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
I don't have anything in particular in mind, I just want what is on my page to look good, instead of a random jumble of stuff. And if you can make some sense out of my userboxes, putting them on my page would be nice, too. I'll let you decide what it will look like, and I'll tell you afterwards what I think. From your page, I think I can probably trust your judgement. :) Thanks in advance. Hi878 (talk) 17:41, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
One final thing: If you could make some sense out of the navbar, archive box, and shoutbox on my talk page, that would be great too. I'll leave the specifics for everything to you. :) If there is anything you think my userpage could use, just add it, and if I don't like it, I'll tell you after. Hi878 (talk) 18:30, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
Since I'm going to keep posting stuff until you get back, so that this isn't archived, I'm going to summarize what I want.
Sense made out of the navbar, archive box, and shoutbox on my talk page.
All of the stuff on my userpage put into some sort of order, maybe putting the userboxes in, if you can, and maybe a section for the one I made. :) And some sort of setup like the one you have wouldn't hurt. I'll leave it mostly to your best judgement, though.
Instead of just editing my userpage, use my sandbox, creating any subpages that are needed if you decide on something related to how yours is set up. Thanks in advance! Hi878 (talk) 00:21, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
Actually, you can pretty much do what you want with all of my subpages, just make sure that you try everything out in the sandbox, creating subpages in it and whatnot as needed. You better hurry up, or my requests will get larger. :) So basically: Do whatever with all of my userpages, including the navbar and secret pages and whatnot, trying everything out in the sandbox and whatever subpages may be needed. Thank you in advance. Hi878 (talk) 16:48, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
Don't worry, I've had plenty of assignments to do and mostly been taking a quick gander at the web. Sorry about all this time and will stick to my word! By the way what's you favourite colour/s. :) -- [[ axg ◉ talk ]]18:55, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
Blue! Thank you. :) Use my sandbox, and create subpages of it if needed. Something related to yours would be nice. :) You can choose how far you want to go with this, but a complete overhaul of my entire userspace, meaning all of the subpages included, would be fantastic. :) Once you make stuff in the sandbox(es), I'll just look at it and say if I like it or not. Thank you in advance! Hi878 (talk) 19:01, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
Well, anyone who sees that will probably be able to tell that it was an accident. My edit, that is. I was trying to revert the same edit, and I accidentally reverted him. :) Hi878 (talk) 01:35, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for the "Welcome to Wikipedia" canned talk page response, but I would actually prefer a real justification for reverting my edits. I'm working on a clean up project of all Notable People sections for all US towns and cities. I recently made such improvements to the Durham, Maine Notable People section and you reverted them. Please see List of people from Bangor, Maine for an example of a good Notable People list. The List of Dartmouth College alumni is a better reference and is rated as a Featured lists. The boxing used with Dartmouth is not recommended for such a small embedded list like Durham, Maine Notable People. Thank you for your time: Dkriegls (talk) 04:39, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Not vandalism, just simplifying to the most basic info necessary to highlight their Notability. No need to restate Steven Kings connection to the town since inclusion in the list already establishes that. It may seam unnecessary to simplify a list of two, but these lists get unruly with bigger numbers as editors try to include tons of bibliographic info. Do you mind if I reinstate my edits? Dkriegls (talk) 04:59, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
No problem, and I should have stated from the start that I was watching your talk page so you didn't have to keep posting on mine :). Dkriegls (talk) 05:08, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Oh, and about the "canned talk page response" comment; I use Igloo for vandal-fighting, and when I revert an edit, it automatically uses a warning template on the user's talk page. As you can probably tell, it would get very tedious to revert the edit, and then manually type out a warning. Just thought I'd let you know. ~~ Hi878(Come yell at me!)05:04, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Just pointing out that I was looking for more justification than the canned response. I am all about automation. Dkriegls (talk) 05:08, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Everyone makes very small mistakes, and you've certianly worked hard enough to make up for all of them :) Old Al (Talk) 05:17, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Grab some glory, and a barnstar
Hi, I'd like to invite you to participate in the Guild of Copy Editors July 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. In May, about 30 editors helped remove the {{copyedit}} tag from 1175 articles. The backlog is still over 7500 articles, and extends back to the beginning of 2008! We really need your help to reduce it. Copyediting just a couple articles can qualify you for a barnstar. Serious copyeditors can win prestigious and exclusive rewards. See the event page for more information. And thanks for your consideration. ~NerdyScienceDude (✉ • ✐) 00:53, 12 June 2010 (UTC)

Yes, I know what that is, believe it or not. :) CSD tagging doesn't work on script pages; I have to actually ask someone to do it, apparently. ~~ Hi878(Come yell at me!)05:34, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. –xenotalk16:48, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from Nettrom (talk), SuggestBot's caretaker.
First: I could tell by the motto that you nominated. :) Second: I like having it look like a "new messages" bar, personally. People will notice it more, and then investigate, and perhaps join, eventually? If it's green, people won't suddenly check to see if it is the new messages bar. Just my thoughts on the matter. Oh, and I believe it would be "an MOTD template". :) Not to be the grammar police, or anything.~~ Hi878(Come yell at me!)02:55, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Ugly? What school of graphic design did you go to? It's purty. Much more up-to-date looking than monobook. Or are you just resistant to change? -Garrett W. {☎✍}19:27, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
I don't know, vector is just... Too fake looking. Not sure how to describe it. Kind of funny, because I like Macintoshes, but whatever... I don't know if too fake looking is the right way to describe it, I just don't like the feeling that I have when I use it. Hi878 isn't home.(Can I take a message?)21:29, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
I don't think it is good to oppose a motto just because another version is better. You should 'weak support' the other one. It makes consensus clearer. Thanks Kayau VotingISevil05:45, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
But you said that 'both are good' - in other words, you like both, only you prefer the second, so the consensus is blurry. Your reply makes you sound a little selfish. :) Kayau VotingISevil10:35, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
I did sound a bit selfish, didn't I? But I would think that picking between then would make more sense, rather than supporting them all. How about this:From now on, if I actually don't like one idea for linking, I will oppose, but if I think it works, but another is better, I will conditional support (which apparently I started, because nobody said "conditional support" before I did, as far as I know). Does that work? Hi878 isn't home.(Can I take a message?)14:32, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
In arbitration decisions, we sometimes vote "first choice" and "second choice" to make the preferences clear. Maybe that would help? Newyorkbrad (talk) 16:07, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
I can't change the MOTD script now! I want to remove the newlines in the updating of the edit section, but I can't :( --Smaug123 (talk) 19:56, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
I can't edit scripts in your userspace, only ones in mine. I wanted to get rid of the "\n" in all the functions, as I only have to get rid of them afterwards! --Smaug123 (talk) 20:09, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
Two things: First, isn't having it in a new line a good thing? Second: Did you notice the banner at the top of my talk page and the editnotice? :) ~~ Hi878(Come yell at me!)20:11, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
Hi878, voting is evil. Comment is better. A support or oppose is just one form of a comment; a comment is an original form. Consider tweaking the script. Kayau VotingISevil04:23, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Only kidding. On my computer, it doesn't cover it very much, just the outside. But if it actually covers up things, then I'll just lower it. ~~ Hi878(Come yell at me!)00:49, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
Uh...at the top of the page, your shoutbox covers your online status. Is it really necessary to have it floating? Though that recycle icon in the corner is cool, and I doubt it would cover much (maybe the last bit of text). CycloneGU (talk) 02:01, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
I can;t make it perfect for everyone; it looks different on each computer. I figured having it floating would be best, because then you can move it out of the way. There is no perfect solution, though. ~~ Hi878(Come yell at me!)02:02, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
Only if I may make one more suggestion first. Navbar, on left, all the way to the bottom. There's nothing useful at the bottom of that page in the mavbar. That is, if you insist on having it floating; personally, I say stick it at the top and leave it there. =) CycloneGU (talk) 16:09, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
Looking for a second opinion
Hi there. I was checking recent changes done to user pages by IP editors and noticed this userpage. It's pretty innocuous, but it looked a bit like one of those gaming pool pages, so I checked out the user contributions and saw that there seem to be a series of IPs who are the main "contributors" to that page and to the userpages for User:LemonZebras and User:MelonaWarren. What do you make of those? I was going to hit User:MelonaWarren as being a promotional page, but check out all the weird wikilinks. There have been hundreds of edits by various IPs and it seems clear that the three registered users are in fact sockpuppets, but I can't fathom what the point is. Can you make any sense of this? There's a lot of nonconstructive stuff going on, but it's such a mess I can't tell whether it's vandalism or self-promotion. :-) Matt Deres (talk) 03:33, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
On User:MelonaWarren, all three of them have contributed, in addition to the IPs. On User:LemonZebras, ApprenticeUK has also edited. Not sure what to take out of that. Same person, perhaps? And the IP might also be them... But I'm not going to worry about that. Erm...Yes, User:MelonaWarren has some weird wikilinks... Wow. Um. Vandalism? Maybe? I think User:MelonaWarren is definitely vandalism. Oh, hey, look at that... User:LemonZebras has an entire section about Melona Warren. That user never edited the page, so... An IP added that? Or something? Wow, this is a rather large mess, isn't it? It doesn't look like said Melona Warren exists... So vandalism for that page. For User:ApprenticeUK, I think that is vandalism too, I can't even tell what the bottom part is supposed to be. And User:LemonZebras, well, it doesn't look like there is much point, and it has the whole non-existant Melona Warren, so... So there we go. I was writing all of this as I looked at them, so that's why this all sounded so weird. :) Hope this helps. ~~ Hi878(Come yell at me!)16:28, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
Okay, so it's not just me. :) I was looking at them all and found myself pondering what the hell was going on. By the time I got to the third one, I thought perhaps I was looking too closely and getting confused by something good-faith that I just didn't understand. I've seen your name on a lot of the recent stuff at MfD and figured you would either recognize something I didn't or at least get a laugh. Rather than MfD, maybe BJAODN would be a more suitable place. :) Matt Deres (talk) 16:58, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
That might be a good idea... :) I've started trying to become more active at MfD lately; I used to more, but then I stopped for quite a while. I've just started being active there again. Those pages were pretty weird. :) The User:MelonaWarren one was pretty funny, I thoguht, considering that this person doesn't exist... They had a lot of fun with the links, I can tell. :) But sadly, they still should be MfDed. I'll do it, if you don't. ~~ Hi878(Come yell at me!)17:02, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
I flagged the MelonaWarren one for CSD as patent nonsense (someone beat us to ApprenticeUK). I'm at work right now and can't take up too much time, but will MfD the LemonZebras later today unless you beat me to it. All those hundreds of edits... just imagine if they'd been used constructively; you can get a couple of GAs or even an FA or two with that kind of edit count. Shame. Matt Deres (talk) 17:39, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
Hello. Just a note, in response to your feedback. An administrator applied pending changes to the The Twilight Saga: Eclipse article. It is receiving high traffic and IP users are adding contenting. We can see whether or not if pending changes is useful in this situation. Davtra(talk) 04:33, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
=) I also somehow deleted your reply while correcting my name into the post. Again, don't know what happened, but I put it back in. CycloneGU (talk) 03:10, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I'm using the random MOTD generator you made and I got a motto set to be used on July 8th, two days from now.(It was July 6th) I don't think that we should be able to see future mottos though we can if we view the schedule. Is this intentional?Derild4921☼17:31, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Well, I looked at the schools website after you posted that. The motto was right on the top of the page, and it was not what you changed it to, so I assumed (no doubt correctly) that it was vandalism. ~~ Hi878(Come shout at me!)00:57, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
Fair enough, I can see why you would assume the motto was vandalism. I apologize for saying you were rude, it frustrated me that you hadn't responded. Could you answer my question about sourcing the material? I don't have a web based source to back up the edits to the Chaminade article, does that mean that the information doesn't belong on Wikipedia at all? Is there a proper channel for my questions? I will likely have more as time goes on.
Well, unsourced facts don't stay on Wikipedia long. As for where to go, I would say the Village Pump. The people there usually know what they are doing. :) I don't do too much article writing, so I'm not the best person to go to with stuff like that. I hope this helps! ~~ Hi878(Come shout at me!)02:21, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
Mind if you update WP:MOTD/G with motto shop? Yes, I know, I created the guidelines, but I'm not confident that I understand it thoroughly. BTW, I'm asking you because I'm sure you're online at this time of the day. :) Kayau VotingISevil01:50, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
Oh, wait, you didn't write anything... I misread that. :) And anyways, now that I think about it, I don't think that is necessary to have Motto Shop stuff on the guidelines page; the instructions are very simple, and are all on the requests page, which will be the first place that people look for them. If you look at the navbar, "Guidelines" is in the "Motto of the Day" section, and there isn't one in the "Motto Shop" section, so the first place people will think to look will be either the requests page, or the ain one, which has a link saying that instructions are on the requests page. So there we go; that's what I think. :) ~~ Hi878(Come shout at me!)01:56, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
My bad, my use of the personal pronouns is confusing. When I first created WP:MOTD/G what I had in mind was that every single matter that a newbie to the MOTD might want to know would be covered. As motto shop, although separate from the main MOTD project in a way, still remains part of the project. Not to mention that the format of mottos from the motto shop is actually the same as the regular ones. So, I insist on putting MS-related stuff on WP:MOTD/G. Kayau VotingISevil02:15, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
Let's get some community consensus at WT:MOTD/MS, OK? For now, I've just watched your user talk so I'm officially your talk page stalker. So, please stop putting talkbacks on my page. :) Thanks Kayau VotingISevil02:25, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
You didn't ask them to rate it. :) Now, add the source, in the format of an MotD motto, to mono's motto, on the request page, and in his userspace. ~~ Hi878(Come shout at me!)02:39, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
Belugaboy, please, do it soon. Fix it in the request form, and then notify him on his talk page, with the new wikitext, so that he can add it to wherever he hid his motto template. ~~ Hi878(Come shout at me!)05:48, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Hi there HI (pardon the redundancy :), VASCO from Portugal here,
Please note that in no way will the following be a justification of my actions, merely shedding some light on why i do what i do, at Wikipedia:
about this message you sent to my standard IP (please see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:217.129.65.5#WP:BATTLE), i'll say that yes, my summaries are sometimes very exaggerated, and hysterical. However, how many times have i crossed the line, threatening - legally or otherwise - well-intended users and/or insulting them? NEVER! Unless you consider that saying "this article is in very poor display" (OK sometimes i use the word "horrible", and i should not) or urging people to stop using bar-like conversations whilst writing in an encyclopedia is a personal attack (consulting my last edits as anon, i could not see anything else that was more over-the-top than those two types, and you sent the message to my anon IP). If it is, i sincerely apologize for my behaviour, although i beg to differ. I will also try to significantly improve on my summaries from now on, honestly. Ah, and i have been already severed insulted myself at the site ("cu*t", "f*ck off").
On a related note, about the insults: yes i have insulted in my four years as an editor. Who? The vandals and lowlifes who have nothing better to do than come here and ruin other people's work, then take offense if we protect pages/block. Don't worry, not provoking you, just being fair and square with you, adding that user/admin Nuclear Warfare is well aware of my behaviour, and he has not ever issued one single warning.
Yes i know that it is wrong, yes i know it is against site policy, but i just lose it with vandalism, i can't help it really (every time i make such a summary, i have the intention of it being my last)...
Thank you for explaining this to me. However, you still sohuld try to rein in your comments; they aren't at the point of threats, but they still could be considered offensive. You should try to not leave such comments, because even if they aren't at the point of threats, they do not help the encyclopedia in any way. Also, insulting vandals is something you should refrain from as well, because while they are vandalizing Wikipedia, losing it when you deal with them gives them more to work with, which is most certainly not a good thing. ~~ Hi878(Come shout at me!)20:58, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
1st, I apologize. I haven't looked at the edit history, yet, but i will, next. No vandalism is ever intended in my editing. When i edit, i sometimes inadvertantly delete something: in Evelyn Waugh, almost 25 kbytes. I would have reverted my own edit, but another editor beat me to it. I'm assuming that's what happened this time, also. I corrected a run-on sentence, not more than 10 bytes of text, but i know an experienced editor would not have thought that vandalism.
It seems that at certain times of the day, i will have to refrain from editing. I'll just make notes.
When i hit save after previewing, everything looked fine. The "save" never went thru, and i immediately got your message. Once again, so sorry, will try not to inconvenience you again.
Ragityman (talk) 23:33, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for apologizing. In case you haven't seen it, you almost completely blanked the page that you were editing. I do have one question, though. What do you mean by "but i know an experienced editor would not have thought that vandalism"? ~~ Hi878(Come shout at me!)23:37, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
Whoops! I'll resist the urge to edit my previous message. I was trying to be brief in case my battery gives out. In the process i came across badly.
What i intended to say was that when i saw the word vandalism again, i assumed that i had once again devastated a page i was trying only to improve. ::Before looking at the damage, i wanted to send my apology, and one look at your userpage told me you are no rookie, therefore confirming my suspicions that i had "done it again."
In rereading my 1st message, i see that it sounds like i might be taking a cheap shot at you. I assure you, that was not my intent. I'm just glad it's so easy to revert an edit.
Hope i can figure out how i'm deleting. It seems to hinge on either low battery, signal strength/interference or both. This editing is addictive, and i don't want to wait to go to the library every time i see a typo or misspelled word.
By the way, one of your banners on this page has an error: i can't remember specifically, but you'll see it.
All right, thank you for the explanation. I'm glad that isn't what you meant. :) By the way, I don't see any errors with banners on this page... Could you tell me what you are talking about? ~~ Hi878(Come shout at me!)17:59, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
I'm sorry to see that you decided to withdraw it; when you have more experience in the areas that oyu wanted to work in, I will be happy to support. Good luck with editing! ~~ Hi878(Come shout at me!)23:02, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

Help would be much appreciated!

I think the problem isn't ArchiveThis/ArchiveNow, I think it's that there already is an archive page structure in Cluebot III's 'memory', at, for example, here. --Smaug123 (talk) 09:25, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
That would do it. And Smaug, that index page thing doesn't matter; it is always changing. Every time I decide to go through and reorganize my archives, it messes with those pages until they are organized correctly. ~~ Hi878(Come shout at me!)20:58, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
Hi! You told me on IRC that there was a problem with your custom welcome template for WelcomerBot. I'm sorry I wasn't there to talk to you directly, and since you're offline now, I'll answer here. The template definitely has worked in the past, I even used it myself once or twice to make sure it was working (see here). However, I did recently change the way the database stores the welcome templates. It is possible that, in this transition, your custom settings got lost. Could you try changing your template to one of the other ones, and saving your settings, and then changing it back to yours and saving again? Then, the next time you close a request, let me know in whichever way you prefer (here, my talk page, IRC, email), and if the problem occurred again I'll look into it further. Thanks. - EdoDodotalk14:48, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
Nevermind, it looks like this affecting all custom signatures. Looking into it further, but unfortunately I don't have database access, so I'll have to wait for stwalkerster to investigate. I believe he is currently away but will be back some time next week. - EdoDodotalk16:31, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
Aha! I've managed to find what was wrong, and it is fixed. However, it won't be going live until someone else makes it live. Unfortunately nobody can at the moment, I'll keep you updated. - EdoDodotalk19:32, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
