Great userpageI give you this userpage award for the best userpage I have ever seen. Josen 20:40, 12 June 2006 (UTC) I'd like your take on thisI've been 'bugged' by my hot button issue of the default skin hiding categories from the user for around two months, and this related thing punched the button pretty much dead center as the same point has been nagging at me as is made by the originator. Seems to me a VP listing ought be made on both, as it were, by at least a mention 'synopsis' with link, and the common debate on kept this page. This seems preferable, as both VP:Technical and VP:policy are certainly apropo venues for a link posting, and I think we've all seen some of the bad effects of the current trend. This point made by the originator is sparse, but on point and imho, important. By keeping the discussion there, it can be similarly referenced on other BB's (Meta for one), and there are a few others. I'm much too focused on wikiEditing to keep up with all the discussion forums, so where should it go, should it be given a seperate venue (Yet another 'proposed guideline'!), or what? In sum, seems to me the 'Internal links' section with such a category template would solve both problems with minimal edit dislocation. My confidence is high that a structural problem in presentation is present under current standards (editorial guidelines), but my crystal ball shattered some years back <g>, so I can't measure it's severity there and it's hard to gauge it's exact magnitude using anything but inductive reasoning. Personally, I rarely visit the nether regions of a web-page, and admittedly tend to attribute that to other 'oldsters' as well. I guess the key question is: If one is reading casually, what reason have they, 'our customer-readers' for looking lower down past the references? Advice? Best regards! // FrankB 15:02, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
Over on the commons, one of the bureaucrats suggests registering an old name so someone else can't use it for impersonation of you. The same has been suggested to me about my signature, since it's different string than my user name, alà User:MgM. On the way to the above, I tried your user name in all lower case, and would suggest you do the same with those permutations of 'T' and 'H'... with apropo redirects, as I've done for my IP, for example. (I didn't do so fast enough, so now someone [mainly inactive, thankfully] uses my sig name as a user name... I missed by a few days or so when I finally acted!) Best! // FrankB 15:12, 14 June 2006 (UTC) Wikipedia:WikiProject Usability/Main Page/Draft/Draft 5 ArchiveHello, I am working on a new skin for MediaWiki and I was inspired by what seems to be your homepage design. Universe DailyI'd like to get my username Universe Daily back. It was banned by some person calling itself Reaverdrop. Is this possible? I promise not to try and participate any more or get angry at this annoying person. I'll wait until I've absorbed all the endless pages of rules before trying to edit anything important. I still can't understand why peoople like him are allowed to bully newbies but life is too short to waste on those sorts of individuals. This place is impossible to comprehend in a single day but the front page invitation for anyone to edit seemed straightforward enough. Even the first page of the Introduction says to be bold and experiment with almost any page. For my efforts in that regard I've seen hours of work summarily deleted, been accused of spamming for my trouble and even been labelled a vandal. I frankly give up for now. I just want a second chance to read through the rules and be allowed to correct glaring spelling errors and grammatical mistakes. Then in a month or two when I've read the endless pages of legislation I might consider trying to write an article again. Universedaily 00:58, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
I'm back. After looking over a few pages I think I can see what started this tiff between me and Reaverdrop. He called me a Vandal and Spammer. I took this rather personally but its obvious to me now that you call anybody disagreeing with administrators or moderators a "Vandal" or "Spammer". I was banned after returning the compliment by calling him a Vandal, which seems a bit unfair. I've posted my findings at the discussion of the 5 pillars for whatever they are worth. Attacking newbies in this fashion will never accomplish anything except to make Wiki universally hated and I suggest you stop using such terminology. To me a Vandal is some cretin who spray paints trains or smashes a public lavatory. If somebody was to call me a "Vandal" in the street then I'd likely hospitalise him. UniverseDaily 03:26, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
I never expected my edits to last forever. I fully accept that others can edit my edits. Similarly there should be no problem with my further editing those pages. But there was. I was banned. Proving that the administration can do whatever it likes and the rest of us just have to put up with it. However, the front page does not say "the encyclopedia anybody can edit 'subject to reading myriad rule pages'. The words "please first read the introduction" upon starting a new page is up for interpretation. I assumed the operative word there to be 'please' which infers a choice in the matter. It comes across not as an order but rather a request. Not having much time available I therefore chose to ignore it. I don't need my old account back to correct typo's but I resent the fact that my user pages abusively label me a Vandal and I would therefore like controlover them returned to me so I can edit out this libelous accusation posted by some administrator who I completely disagree with over this matter. I am perfectly willing to behave calmly with others at the site and I find such a claim by 'JesseW, the juggling janitor' quite insulting. In every case where I have acted out of accordance with your volumes of legislation it is because I was not aware of these rules. Where I have abused others it was always in response to personal attacks that they initiated. I find the term 'Vandal' in particular a highly charged insult. Vandals are the miscreants who break windows and steal street signs. As an ex-security guard and customs officer I regard such name calling as rather petty and pathetic. I have now read enough of your rule pages to have absorbed the basic outline of your dictatorship's fundamental guidelines. Please unban all of my usernames including UniverseToday and I promise to turn the other cheek to all further insults from your staff. I am perfectly willing to forgive their reprehensible behaviour if this small request is taken care of. Universedaily 00:35, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

Looking for some advice.Hi HereToHelp, I just created my first new page Anasarca (band) and want to check to make sure if I'm going to attempt to create new articles, that I'm doing it right and not breaking any rules. I also noticed that in creating the page, Anasarca was already existing, so I added the template to the top saying "this article is about blah blah blah, if you're looking for blah blah blah, go here" since there's only 2 articles regarding Anasarca. Please check it out and leave me a note on my talk page to let me know how I did, any constructive critisism would be welcomed. I've been spending numerous hours trying to get the whole format down and wiki markup - so any help would be appriciated. I'm also looking for a place that other wikipedians talk. Weather it's about help, or a new page, or anything really. I haven't really been able to find a place where people converse about new articles, ideas, etc. I've found numerous pages regarding specific help topics, community portal, etc - but it doesn't seem to me that a page exists that is frequently looked at and talked on... I dunno. I guess I'm looking for a page that I can check frequently to help other people, add to new articles, find things to do, etc. Any help would be appriciated. --Keitaro 05:35, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Alive? Are you still alive? The WP:MAC wikiproject mac is pretty dead...I just nominated Apple II family as the current collaboration. The Steve Jobs article didn't get anywhere fast... — Wackymacs 13:43, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, Also...I believe it should be called the Apple wikiproject, not Mac...I think it causes some confusion on what we're here to work on. The portal is nice, but I can't be bothered to keep it updated, I also don't think its popular. The collaboration is dead. So just the main wikiproject page I originally created should be kept...and seriously streamlined and redone I think. — Wackymacs 14:24, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
I guess it will be Wikipedia:WikiProject Apple Computer. :) — Wackymacs 16:57, 12 August 2006 (UTC) Oh, and the shortcut i guess we could keep as WP:MAC of course. — Wackymacs 16:58, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Yep...and Apple II family is being moved to Apple II series. I'm not sure who on earth chose these weird article names in the first place, at least its being put right now. — Wackymacs 17:04, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
uh lets not go too far...company articles have the same name as the company, so for Apple's case "Apple Computer. — Wackymacs 17:23, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Yes it is legally Apple Computer, but of course its most popularly known as Apple, but Apple isn't the real name of the company. The mac one should be moved to Macintosh and other stuff to Macintosh (disambiguation) i guess. — Wackymacs 17:29, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Today I actually left a message for every single project member on their Talk page, telling them about the latest collaboration. so far, a few have started working on the Apple II series page (yes, i did the move, w00t). — Wackymacs 18:04, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

I've posted my project on the mediawiki index and www.mwusers.com (mediawiki forum) but the traffic on those pages is nonexistant! How do people get wiki content creators to get a project off the ground? I know this is not exactly wikipedia-related, so any response is appreciated. Serious Help NeededHi, I was directed to your page by a friend User:Wizardry Dragon, because I am facing a serious problem. Actually these days I am some what busy with an examination so I can not concentrate that much on Wikipedia but I definitely keep an eye on one article which is close to my heart and i.e. Marwat. This article is about our clan and I am continuously trying to brush up and improve this article. The problem that I am facing is by a User:A M. Khan who has created several sock puppets and is continuously trying to push certain POV in the above mentioned article on Marwat. I have filed a case about his Sock Puppetry at WP:RFCU and am waiting for the decision. You can also check some of the details of his sock puppetry and vandalization over there. Meanwhile I thought that I should also let you know that this user has created other accounts by the names of User:Ghazni Khel, User:Lakki Marwat, User:Begu Khel, IP Address 203.175.64.10, and IP Address 210.56.14.139. You could see the similarity of edits and clear support for the POV entries of main account User:A M. Khan. You know what, I am 100% positive that by tomorrow he is definitely going to follow me over here as well when he sees in my contributions page that I visited your Talk Page and then he will leave a similar massage so as to confuse you. Please consider these facts that this main user was earlier on blocked by User:The JPS for using abusive language and continuous vandalization and POV entries to the same article on Marwat. It all now boils down to the fact that he wants to add the name of a non entity (known as Akhtar Munir Marwat, who is a petty civil servant in Government of Pakistan) to the article on Marwat and who does not fulfill the criteria of WP:BIO. I pointed this out to him on the discussion page of Marwat but instead he became abusive and told me to hold the stick (reference to penis) of that person. Everyday he vandalizes this page (his talk page suggests that he has been several times warned for doing so in past as well by various administrators) and since I am not an administrator therefore, I simply warn him for doing so (by now he has done it more than 100 times). So much so that he tried to create a separate page for this non-entity but which was immediately nominated for AFD and was deleted after consensus [4]. He tried to recreate the same page but which was deleted once again. Please stop this person and his sock puppets as his acts are eating out my precious time during my examination. I will be really really obliged for your help. --Marwatt 03:11, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
Many many things to say and to share, alongwith some serious complaintsI am very glad to see above application, place by my wiki-mate User:Marwatt, demanding for serious help. Respected Administrator, I have nothing to say against User:Marwatt on personal basis, nor would like to discuss any, even if I have. I would like you to really help him but would like to make an enormous plea to make Justice with his request, especially while making decission against me (if any). I alsowould like you to give me a chance to defend myself. As by the grave of God I am clear and clean except being guilty for some minor mistakes that were committed earlier, I would like you to give me a chance to defend myself and let me prove you the real respoinsble person for his "kind deeds" that he "awarded" wikipedia. I can also design many stories like my fellow User:Marwatt did but I am having the strong faith that ""Truth wins atlast" Thanking you in anticipation, Your wiki-mate and Begger of Justice A M. Please re-search with Akhtar Munir Marwat or replace Akhter with Akhtar. I gurantee you will find many of matches. I am politically an ally to User:Marwat but will support User:A M. Khan on the cause of Notable Marwats. Please re google and then reply. Ali Begu Khel
Yes; that does appear to be sock puppetry. The anonymous user who made it also made this edit. (He also used the "+" tab at the top of the page to make it, did A. M. Khan when logged in. To keep the discussion continuous I have changed it to a lower header.) It may be the case that the person in question is indeed notable, but the techniques used to put his name in the article are suspect at best. So the issue boils down to the editing and behavior policies vs. the notability guidelines. The only precedent I can think of is 3RR, which applies even when you are right. Therefore, A. M. Khan's actions of sock puppetry on multiple occasions is deplorable. However, I cannot withhold accurate, notable information from an article becuse of the way it was added. You two should civilly discuss the matter on the article's talk page to determine the notability (Google rankings aside). I hate to reward bad behavior, but I'd probably take the Inclusionist stance. However, I am unqualified to engage in a content-oriented discussion. A. M. Khan, consider yourself warned against acts of sock puppetry. If you do not heed this warning, stricter action will be taken.--HereToHelp 02:05, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
I would like you both to try your best to prove that I used the above claimed sock-puupet I don't know what makes you think that I am using a sock-puppet that is even not an ISP (of Pakistan) where I am at the moment. This will surely do nothing but make me annoy, as it seems to be a dictatorship more then being civil to me, as per Wikipedia Policy. Once again, User:HereToHelp, I assure you that I am not the abov claimed person who at the end wrote his name "Ali Begu Khel". It might be a wicked and depraved act of my fellow User:Marwatt. It seems that he is using the same I.D. User:HelpToHelp. once again, I assure I am not that person, but as you are here to help, then you must trace out the roots from where that IPs logs in. Beside this, I found no guilty in claiming that I used a second I.D on WP. From the day I knew it is against the policy of WikiPedia, I never looged in form that I.D again. As the topic is concerned, once again, I would like to appeal that whenever any one is going to make a decission kindly inform me about the charges upon me, I will for sure for sure clear those. Truth Wins Atlast. User:HereToHelp, what should I do? Except feeling guilty?User:FayssalF, I am guilty for past, but don't want to be sorry for tomorrow. What should I call it, a dilemma or Catch-22 of our nation? It is strange that User:Marwatt never wanted to discuss or talk about the relevant article(s) specifically Marwat. He always wanted to skip-off from dicsussing the disputes of the articles but he tried to impose and started trying banning, blocking, preventing the user whoever write against his macthings. I never compromises on my conscience, that is always a supporter of truth, eventhough my mind and heart sometimes oppose and reflects basics of my coinscience but still conscience wins atlast. I will leave the Wikipedia for whole of my life, if it satisfies my fellow User:Marwatt, so it would be easy for him to be a Dictator here as there will be no opposition left for him. But kindly don't force a lie to win. Just make an appeal here, I will leave Wikipedia, but can't see the insult of "truth" and respect of "lies" here. I admitt my mistakes and guilt in past, I am extremely sorry for it, kindly forgive me all. Regards, A M. Khan 07:37, 10 November 2006 (UTC) Note* Copy sent to User:Marwatt, User:FayssalF.

Bad Idea?I could use an assist (maybe two). I have a pet peeve, and thought I'd come up with a good concept for making chides to editors who leave incomplete documentation trails by creating sort of a wet diaper award. It seems to be drawing some adverse reactions, and even before I'd spammed a request to some others like this for brainstorming on how to shorten same and evolve it, as I'm not happy with it either. Subsequently, it's already drawn fire (here) before I could ask in help and get suggestions. Can you take a look and comment here. There has to be some way to let people know 'shallow edit actions' that reflect poorly on our pages need a talk note justification, no exceptions, thankyou. Mac categoriesI believe I've adequately explained my categorization ideas at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Macintosh already. I think it is a careful, systematic treatment. None of the categories will end up with only one or two articles. All categories address a salient aspect of Macs. If there is anything unclear, let's hash it out there. ⇔ ChristTrekker 22:04, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
