Hajvery UniversityGood morning Graeme, I'd like to ask a favour - could you remove the creation protection from Hajvery University, so I can move Hajvery University, Lahore to that spot, as there seem to be no other institutions with this name. The article has quite an amusing history, with several copyvio deletions in August-September 2008, followed by an "AFC submission"/"How-to-guide" which you declined. About a week after that, someone decided to try again with a slightly different title, which I came across this morning - cover your eyes if you are easily upset :P. I have gone through and removed just about as much copyvio and unsourced material as possible and added a couple of references outside of the college website. The only problem is that I think the article should be located at Hajvery University but that requires admin-powers. Green Giant (talk) 07:41, 16 August 2010 (UTC)

on deletion of K3RN3LDear Graeme Bartlett, I would like to have a serious explanation from you out of which reasons you've deleted the page about the theater group K3RN3L? First, why would we just accept someone's word that they are the owner of a copyrighted document, especially when the document is the property of an organization, not an individual? Second, even if the person were the owner, by WP:COPYVIO, we still can't put it on Wikipedia without it being CC-BY-SA, in public domain, or being explicitly donated. So it seems to me that unless/until we get the words donated, this has to be deleted/blanked. Is there some way I'm misinterpreting policy? I'll watch this page so you can reply here. There are many reliable references from reliable sources in the article and I am sure the article was improved from when it was created two months ago. He meets WP:GNG. There are other players in the 2009 MLB Draft and the 2010 MLB Draft that have pages with less info and/or less reliable sources and they are in the same situation as Machado and those pages are still around. Hi, I noticed you declined the speedy tag for The European Society for History of Law, citing that the same author probably contributed the original and Wikipedia text. I nominated it for deletion because there was no indication that the text was licensed suitably for use on Wikipedia (cc-by-sa-3.0 or equivalent), so I believe that you are in error in removing the speedy tag (unless you know of some permission the author granted that I don't know of). Instead of restoring the tag, I plan to list it for AfD for the same reason (lack of copyright info). Could you tell me why you deleted this page? I don't see it in the deletion log and we have OTRS permission for it if copyright was the only issue. Message added 13:28, 30 August 2010 (UTC). You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template. A last requestThank you Graeme Bartlett, for paying attention to my request and set aside time to answer. For start, I sincerely doubt that I will become an administrator, with those who want the same, chances for me are horribly low, and I fully realize that we all make mistakes and sometimes I make a mistake because I do not pay attention, but the file that I put there in the my request, there I have more than 15 mistakes and it was happened when I was just logged on Wikipedia, and I did not know how was editing worked then. I really do not want to be there, because when someone wanted to see the history of that file and see that it was filled with all my mistakes, and because of that I really would like it to be deleted, and on the other hand, it is the history of uploaded file, not the actual article, so is possible with no problems to be deleted (this is View history of file I want to be deleted). Then in my Upload log page I do not really wanted to be deleted everything, I wanted only one file, and it's File:Clash2010Soundtrack.jpg, because it is the first file that I sent and that there is no previous version that was sent by someone else. There are actually two that file because I thought that maybe if I send the file back, the first will disappear, but I was fooled, and I only want to that two files be erased completely. Sorry that I have so much stretch but since you told me that if I want to delete to tell you, and after all I want to be deleted, I really want if that's not a problem to you. Thank you again for everything. Corey.7.11.1992 14:50, 2 September 2010 (UTC) If you look at the talkpage you will see that it wasn't just copy off one page of the website, but the whole text is copied from various pages on the persons website. I realise that for small section of copyvio you just remove it but there doesn't appear to be anything salvageable in this (and I have checked the article history for earlier versions). Answer to a remarkHello, Graeme Bartlett. I found the comment on my article Chinese calendar and history that it relies essentially on one source. About each of the historical events mentioned in the article the reader can consult Wikipedia and the sources therein. In this sense, the content of the article is verifiable. I am not aware of another source, where the rules mentioned in my article are being considered. (People are more interested in studying each event rather than finding analogies between the different events.) To understand these rules one must know the historical events and then see the analogy. On the other hand, to require that someone else as well studies these rules first, and only then to have an article in Wikipedia - this seems not quite natural. Wikipedia is a way of diffusing knowledge after all. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.59.10.172 (talk) 12:19, 20 November 2010 (UTC) Addendum to the previousDear Graeme Bartlett, I added another reference to my article Chinese calendar and history. Unfortunately, I did not buy it then (I didn't know that some day I would need it). It talks about triples of years of the Chinese calendar (I mentioned these triples in my article) and corresponding triples of persons born in these years and having played in some sense analogous roles in history. He also considers such triples of years and the events that have taken place during them and comments on the character of the events. I tried to contact Kvasha via Internet, I'll see whether there will be an answer. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ZildarVPK (talk • contribs) 15:22, 22 November 2010 (UTC) Graeme, just got this.Any chance I can see what the concern was? Ware, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia for multiple reasons. Please see the page to see the reasons. If the page has since been deleted, you can ask me the reasons by leaving a message on my user talk page. If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. andy (talk) 11:18, 20 November 2010 (UTC) Cmagha (talk) 17:56, 22 November 2010 (UTC)

This was quite some time ago and we need to update the relevantinformation. When I came to update the page I see it has had a special deletion due to content copyright. The content that was placed on the page is the same as on her websites and this may have caused the problem. I am not sure how all this works, so any help would be great! I am guessing that you think the copyright issue is resolved. I am inclined to remove it again: I agree with the original removal that it is OR from a source with no provenance; additionally, it is UK-centric in an article that already has too little world-wide coverage; has no scale so is of little value as data; and the uploader has failed to take out an OTRS ticket or put a notice on his site despite being aware that this is a requirement for the best part of two months. Thought I ought to get your take on it first though, before doing anything. SpinningSpark 12:05, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
MySchoolG'day Graeme, In regards to the MySchool website, the problem isn't so much linking to it as using data from it. In response to the publication of the rankings of schools by SMH and others last year, ACARA tightened up its ToS and copyright statements. I am very concerned with Clause 12(c) of it's ToS, which states thus:
A broad reading of this suggests that it is inappropriate to use their content to provide information which could be used in a similar fashion to MySchool. This is why any link to the MySchool website immediately redirects to the splash page. Being that one of the criticisms about the leagues table issue last year was that ACARA didn't pursue SMH and others, I expect that they'll be a lot more aggressive from here on in. I don't want to see wikipedia made an example of. Where a citation is necessary, I strongly suggest looking to other sources (such as the school's Annual School Report, or equivalent, which is usually better anyway as it will provide history of certain data and context). In regards to my personal feelings, while it has nothing to do with the legality of the issue. I oppose the current way that information is presented at the MySchool website, but I expect that the next version will be better. *shrug* -Danjel (talk) 23:53, 22 December 2010 (UTC) Image validationHello Graeme Bartlett, you recently flagged an image of Mattthew Skenandore I uploaded, I have the author's explicit approval to use his image. How can we verify this? The image is from a low-res film still taken many years ago, no higher resolution file exists. Also he has given me permission to add a number of paintings he has done to a gallery within the wiki article, what do you recommend as validation? He is using flickr under the nickname qualitytimelord but is willing to provide any reasonable ID you wish. Thanks! You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 22:06, 25 December 2010 (UTC) N(NO2)3 reference page is not indexed in Wikipedia's Search Box, but appears in the resulting Search PageHi, Graeme Bartlett! Because I couldn't find it in the Search Box, I was going to create the reference page you created before, when noticed that indeed existed in the resulting Search Page. I don't have any clue of why this can happen. Maybe the reference page is too new to have been indexed, or the parenthesis make some trouble to the indexing mechanism. Just to keep you informed. Have a Good Year 2011! Pmronchi (talk) 12:34, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
As you declined my speedy request, I'm just letting you know I've nominated the above at AfD Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Thomas Howes (actor) (2nd nomination). (I think I've told everyone involved now. Not sure if I was supposed to notify the closing admin of the first discussion, but I did anyway.) Peridon (talk) 12:59, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
C'mon, Graeme. "Now the 'Lad of Lads' is starting to attract widespread genuine excitement within the music industry and beyond for he's fresh approach to POP/SOUL Music. Picton shows honest reflections of an artist well before his years or knowledge would know and his distinctive voice, confidence and charisma has had people already claiming he could be 'this generations Al Green'" Even for a press agent, that's pretty smarmy and pathetically promotional. --Orange Mike | Talk 21:46, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
Wikipedia talk:Policy sculpting: inclusion versus exclusionGraeme, You created Please confirm that you have no objection to my creating the WT: page again. I have already removed the discussion from the WP: page [here]. Now I need to restore the discussion to the WT: page. Since you are the admin of record that deleted the WT: page, I need your approval to restore the page. Thanks, RB 66.217.118.205 (talk) 22:12, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

File copyright problem with File:Tol-bok_for_boy.JPGGood day. Two questions. (1) You noted on my talk page that an image I uploaded has no copyright status. I can add this information but am not sure how. I looked at the copyright page (including templates such as PD-self but am still not clear. Can you advise? (2) Not to be a stickler but you used the word "very" as in "Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously." I'm not a fan of hyperbole. Does the word "very" add anything beyond the word "seriously"? Hoping for an answer to at least the first question. Thanks, Hu Gadarn (talk) 15:59, 7 January 2011 (UTC) TalkbackHello, Graeme Bartlett. You have new messages at Sven Manguard's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template. Undeletion requestHello, On 29 August 2009, between 8:01 and 8:02, you deleted the files:
The reason was "F5: Unused non-free media". This a request for undeletion of those files, for the following reason. The files used to illustrate the article Vatican euro coins and the different articles on the respective euro values. As they are non-free images of "national" sides of euro coins (see Template:Non-free currency-EU coin national), their description pages also included a fair use rationale. At that point, all was well. However, the problem arose when those Wikipedia files were removed from the articles in March 2009 by a user (see diff.), who also replaced them by links to copies that had been uploaded to Commons. Unfortunately, that user did so without regard for the fact that the images were not free and that, consequently, the copies that had been uploaded to Commons were there against the Commons policy and they would eventually get deleted from the Commons site (see for example Commons:Commons:Deletion requests/File:Euro coins.jpg). So, at that point when, in August 2009, you deleted in good faith the Wikipedia files, they were indeed "unused", but normally they should have been in use, because they should never have been removed from the articles by the user. Ideally, that user's action would have been noticed and undone and the files put back into place in the articles. Unfortunately, apparently nobody noticed it between March (removal) and August (deletion) and the anomaly continued to this day. Anyways, better late than never. Now, Commons is currently in a process of deleting the non-free copies (yes, it did take time) and it will become even more necessary that we restore the Wikipedia files, so that the images can be in place in the articles. I think the copies on Commons will probably be deleted soon and it would be nice to have our Wikipedia images already back in place by then. Consequently, could you please undelete the files mentioned? I hope my explanation was clear. Thanks in advance for your help. |
