Maximus Carontus Page Deleted

I have no idea how Wikipedia works. Jsu now trying to figure it out. But Maximus Carontus gets googled. It has had thousands of marketing dollars spent on just the logo, so people will google the logo to find out what it is and wind up back to the marketing site that created it. I figured it would be a good idea to post a wiki article on actual person behind logo. I am new to Wiki and trying to figure out how it works as I go along. Was going to continue to update and elaborate the article. Please reconsider the "A7" deletion. Thanks! maxcarpro@gmail.com (Sorry if I just hi-jacked someone elses post. Wasn't sure how to write my own.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Maxcarpro (talkcontribs) 16:47, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Vanatoru tennis hoax

All articles on Wikipedia regarding Sebastian Gabriel Vanatoru/Vînătoru are blatant hoaxes and the articles are created by a sock puppeteer. He is a vandal too modifying many tennis articles and replacing players name with his own in competitions like the 4 Grand Slams. You can see here some archived deleted articles with this hoax: User_talk:NawlinWiki#Vanatoru_vandal and here: User_talk:NawlinWiki/Archive_41#Tennis_hoaxes_by_Sebiku_and_socks. Thank you. re:hoax tagging.

I tagged Route 46 (MTA Maryland) and Route 47 (MTA Maryland) as hoaxes because the article summary summarizes them as quickbus routes currently operating in the MTA Maryland bus network. These routes don't exist.--ETLamborghini (talk) 23:42, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please reconsider the speedy on this one. The article claims that the founder/owner has won awards, not that the company has. Also note that the sole contributor appears to be the same person, introducing a massive COI and spam concerns. 69.181.249.92 (talk) 01:40, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You declined the speedy deletion at Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (United Arab Emirates). The entire text of the article is an obvious copyvio. See [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6]. Is there a reason for the declined speedy? SnottyWong chatter 03:52, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Lazkao Txiki

Hi Graeme. Can you please take another look at this speedy? From what I remember it seemed to assert notability fairly strongly. Googling his name gives 160,000 results, and he has an article on a couple of foreing-language Wikis ([7] and [8]), so I'm thinking A7 may not apply here. Whether he's notable or not I'm not sure, but some of those Google hits look quite promising. Alzarian16 (talk) 10:24, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I'll try to improve it some time over the weekend. I think there's enough material out there, although it's mostly in foreign languages so I may take some time to sort through it. Alzarian16 (talk) 13:27, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sean Meenan Page

Hi why was this page deleted? There are a lot of pages dedicated to people on Wikipedia and Sean Meenan is actually mentioned is a couple of them. He's an american businessman who's pushing the environmental movement forward in each of his businesses. He's an initial investor of etsy, which is noted on their wikipedia page, and currently co-owns the newest Cafe Habana with Rande Gerber, who also has a Wikipedia page. Information on "Peter Facione" page you delted is 100% true and verifiable. No copyright violations were involved. If it is not appropriate to post page about self, then that is a different matter. It is easy enough to have someone else post it. Please advise. Am new to Wikipedia's policies, quiks, norms, and customs. Thanks for your help. Again, thank you. The bio I am trying to put in Wiki is same as the one in Leading Authorities, is same as one on my business website, is same as one in my last book by Pearson Education - more or less with minor changes. Why? Same person wrote them. Leading Authorities does not have copyright, even if they try to assert it. I have copyright on that bio. So the question is whether to simply reinstate it, or to take the time to rewrite it. It would be easiest all around if you reinstate it. There was nothing plagerized or false in the bio. Please advise. Thanks. Pfacione (talk) 21:38, 16 July 2010 (UTC) --Pfacione (talk) 21:38, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unfair Deletion

The deletion of Gofnet.com by you is very unfair. The article was an essential ingredient for Wikipedia and should not be deleted. It describes Gofnet.com, which is a song search engine, a different concept in itself. Can I ask you the rational behind the declining of the CSD on the above, as even the refs supplied are not about the organisation and the page makes no claim to significance as I can tell. Codf1977 (talk) 12:39, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I just felt like this was a page worth keeping. But no reason solid enough to put on a edit summary. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 12:58, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough - I have opened an AfD on it. Codf1977 (talk) 13:25, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No big deal but

[11]. Note in the future the advice here that bans apply regardless of 'good faith'. By declining to speedy delete the article started by the banned user, it's turned the AfD discussion into a battleground with his sockpuppets and an ANI report. Banned users are disruptive to the entire project as a whole and that is why they are banned. Giving an inch of help has been more disruptive and time wasting than just deleting their contributions entirely would have been. It's not a huge complaint, but something to consider next time you run into the situation. Thanks. SchmuckyTheCat (talk)

Speedy deletes need some evidence, so for banned user or socks there should be a link to SPI or ban notice (could be on user page). Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:20, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Just to let you know that the above page which you deleted as an unambiguous copyright infringement has been recreated with the same content - I have tagged it for speedy deletion. –– Jezhotwells (talk) 18:21, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

PS the tag should not have been G4 as there was no deletion discussion, but it was a G12 copyright infringement. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:16, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, I have noted that for future reference. –– Jezhotwells (talk) 22:34, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you declined the speedy for File:CBF logo.svg. However, it violates two conditions of free-use: it's an svg and thus not low-resolution and it doesn't have a rationale for every use. Also, a number of the rationales given contradict each other in their usage. As no svg version would be suitable, this file should be deleted, as uploading a "smaller" version would have no effect.

Additional discussion is at WP:VPM#CBF Logo. OrangeDog (τ • ε) 22:35, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I just came across UKAIS and thought you should know: the appropriate process for dealing with articles where the content has been copied but permission is asserted is (in addition to declining the speedy deletion as you did) to blank the article using {{subst:copyvio|url=insert URL here}}, as many OTRS releases never come through or are inadequate. Wikipedia:Copyright violations has more details if you feel like wading through it. Cheers! VernoWhitney (talk) 00:27, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Graeme. I'm in the process of courtesy blanking some content for a vanished user. I hope you don't mind. He is very adamant about it, and I would hope to accommodate him in this if we can. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 20:47, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK I will let you get away with it! (and check if you are nominating deletions also). Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:28, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. :) The only content he created seems to be Johann Schmid. I've removed his username from the log, but didn't feel comfortable deleting it. You and I are the only editors of consequence, other than him. I don't mind if you don't. When working on new content, I tried researching the guy at google books but did not find any other sources; he may be of borderline notability anyway. Of course, I don't mind retaining it, either, if you prefer. I really don't know what constitutes notability for WWII pilots. :/ I've removed his contributions from every talk page where I found it. That only leaves this change, which is not even creative enough to require attribution. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 21:59, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
My contribution to Johann Schmid was deleting some text and leaving the original writings of the user, and sticking on a reference section. So essentially nothing. I know nothing about the topic either! I think the article claims enough importance to not be a speedy candidate, but leave it to others to AFD if they want. However I would not be surprised if the vanished user comes back in the future! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:26, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

User:Trunki

Hi

I was wondering if you could take another look at User:Trunki which you speedy declined. The main reason i speedied was the "article" is because it is on the users page and not a wiki article page, with the username being the name of the product. The content itself appears ok, and should possibly be moved to its own article page? Also, the username appears to be a violation of the Username policy, specifically WP:USERNAME#Company/group names.

Thanks CalumH93|talk 22:26, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That is OK, but article now has much more content, so I think it does need a proper AFD, with no speedy delete shortcut. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:31, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

On the article Holidayz. At least two IPs have been removing the Afd template from it repeatedly all night (or day, depending) and I'm requesting semiprotection at least until the discussion is over in 4 days. WP:RPP has a considerable backlog at the moment, given that my other protection request, which was considerably less urgent and needs a little more thought and discussion, hasn't been touched for almost two hours. But the above one aside, semiprotection of Holidayz needs expediting. Thanks. elektrikSHOOS 09:43, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Declined Speedy

You declined my speedy tagging of User:Many_A_Flower since the original MFD just decided to move the article to a subpage rather than the users userpage. The outcome of your speedy decline ultimately ends up with the consensus of the MFD not being honoured.

However please take a look:

The original article Jason Steed, Fledgling Jason Steed were deleted via AFD, the latter twice. The author decided to keep it on their userpage User:Beehold where the MFD determined to move it to the subpage. Since then we have a user (not sure which) try to recreate the article at Fledgling Jason Steed this was deleted as a G4. To circumvent that it was then recreated as Jason Steed (Book series) by User:Onthemap and again redeleted as G4. User:Onthemap also pasted a copy as their userpage. Looking a bit closer we also have User:BonfireCharlie which is a copy of the article.

Now either all these users User:BonfireCharlie, User:Onthemap and User:Many_A_Flower are all the same as User:Beehold determined to show contempt for the consensus to delete this stuff by the multiple recreations, or they are different users, in which case the copies other than User:Beehold/Fledgling Jason Steed are all unattributed copvios. Either way I can't see how it can be legitimate to retain all these copies despite the various deletions and debates.

Please advise. --82.7.40.7 (talk) 12:53, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you declined a speedy on this article because of lots of refs - however none of them actual mention the organisation - although some of them mention an organisation with a slightly different name - but I see no claim to notability only to existence. noq (talk) 23:39, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reason for Deletion

I am writing to inquire why the page "WQAT" was removed. Everything on the page is legitimate and verifiable. Can you elaborate please. Also were you the one who noticed and flagged the page or did someone else flag it for deletion? Thanks!

Mogwog (talk) 02:13, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your Action is Requested

In discussions registered editors such as Onef9day, ActiveBanana, Sodabottle have recommended to retain (or opposed deletion) the RS based Kannada script in the Periyar E. V. Ramasamy article. I also support it them. Please add Kannada script in the lead. Thanks Appagaru (talk) 07:00, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I cannot see that there is a consensus yet. For my own opinion is that GA does not mean the article is frozen. "senior editor" means nothing in this debate. I prefer more rather than less, but to meet verifiability there has to be a sourse that gives the Kannada script name, and it actually has to be useful in someway to have it. You don't actually need an admin to make the change as it is only semiprotected. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 10:24, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Administrator: Thanks for your response. It is very helpful. The article already has a RS (23) that states "He has declared himself as a Kannadiga in many of his meetings. An excerpt from one of his meetings: "Many people say I am not a Tamilian myself. They are saying this because my mother tongue is Kannada. Many think that I am a Telugu Nayudu. The truth is that I am a Kannadiga from the Balija Nayudu caste. 'Periyar E.V.R's speeches, Dravidar Kazhakam publication, 1990, Chennai'[12]". Hope I can correct the article to its original status that had Kannada script. Appagaru (talk) 15:22, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry to intrude here. My opinion as an involved editor: I thought removing kannada script would reduce the endless edit wars/discussions instead of starting a new one. In summary : the subject's mother tongue was Kannada but he himself is only notable for his activities among Tamils. For transliteration/transcription purposes Tamil script is enough (both phonetically and as a native language search string). The Kannada script is useless as a search string because there is minuscule coverage of the subject in Kannada sources (as the subject is/was not notable in Kannada speaking areas and is/was not widely covered there). So the case for including Kannada script boils down to ethnic/linguistic pride and claim "he is one of ours".--Sodabottle (talk) 16:08, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately Appagaru's argument does not justify the use of the script. You will have to find that others have written about the person in the script, and supply a reference. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:33, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reason for Deletion of Miracle Bell

Hi Graeme, I was just wondering why my page on the band Miracel Bell was deleted? Miracle Bell are a local Co. Kildare band from Ireland, and they have entered the Official Irish music charts (IRMA) on a couple of occasions. Do i need to provide citations to have them included, or is it simply that they are not a big enough topic for an Encyclopedia? Thanks, Conor —Preceding unsigned comment added by Conorm4 (talkcontribs) 15:33, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that this is a user page, not an article, and thus any text not about the editor but rather designed to promote a company or location is pretty much by definition "spam." It's not even a subpage, so it's can't realistically be considered a userspace draft either. 69.181.249.92 (talk) 18:23, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Same with User:Dan yesu. 69.181.249.92 (talk) 18:25, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Talk page stalker here, I'm letting both of them know that their userpages may be against policy. elektrikSHOOS 18:42, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I am treating them as article drafts, more suitable as a subpage, but as new users they probably don't know that. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 20:14, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So I would suggest that you move the user pages like this to a subpage and let the user know. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 20:16, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Why don't you do that since, as an IP editor, I am unable to do so. 69.181.249.92 (talk) 20:37, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Good point I confused you with User:elektrikSHOOS. I note that MFDs have voted to move them. However I am hoping that the user gets the page ready for mainspace and can move it. I will move them at 69's req. 21:07, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for deleting the page. You said that A3 isn't quite valid for talk pages. Which CSD catagory should I have used instead? Fly by Night (talk) 22:37, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Graeme. You seem to forgot to G8 the above file. Just to point out. Thanks and regards. Rehman(+) 13:19, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I nominated the above file with a bunch of other files that I F2'd. While doing that, I came across this file; does it fall in F2 as well (looking at the FP status)? Thanks for your time. Rehman(+) 13:36, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
For File talk:Southeast mediterranean annotated geography.jpg it had project tags, I leave these on even if the page moved to commons as otherwise that project info would be lost. The other talk comments may have been moved to commons, but I did not check this out, it would be a bit of an attribution checking problem. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:04, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the tip here and on my talkpage. Best regards. Rehman(+) 00:39, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Daurte Design Page Deleted

I was trying to create a page for Duarte Design, because for some reason the previous one (which I never saw) was deleted. It said the page was deleted because it replicated one that was already deleted. I'm confused as to how that could be (due to the fact that I didn't make the previous one) and what was wrong with it? Thanks. Jecwick (talk) 17:27, 5 August 2010 (UTC)Jecwick[reply]

Nagapattnam Refinery

Good work. I'm impressed. And a good lesson, as well. 98.82.0.102 (talk) 23:32, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The MfD can be found here, hosted by yours truly. Just a friendly observation: I'm surprised that you deleted the latter but kept the former. :| TelCoNaSpVe :| 04:30, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
