Signpost exit pollDear Wikipedian, you recently voted in the ArbCom election. Your username, along with around 155 other usernames of your fellow Wikipedians, was randomly selected from the 2000+ Wikipedians who voted this year, with the help of one of the election-commissioners. If you are willing, could you please participate (at your option either on-wiki via userspace or off-wiki via email) in an exit poll, and answer some questions about how you decided amongst the ArbCom candidates? If you decide to participate in this exit poll, the statistical results will be published in the Signpost, an online newspaper with over 1000 Wikipedians among the readership. There are about twelve questions, which have alphanumerical answers; it should take you a few minutes to complete the exit poll questionnaire, and will help improve Wikipedia by giving future candidates information about what you think is important. This is only an unofficial survey, and will have no impact on your actual vote during this election, nor in any future election. All questions are individually optional, and this entire exit poll itself is also entirely optional, though if you choose not to participate, I would appreciate a brief reply indicating why you decided not to take part (see Question Zero). Thanks for being a Wikipedian The questionnaireDear Wikipedian, please fill out these questions -- at your option via usertalk or via email, see Detailed Instructions at the end of the twelve questions -- by putting the appropriate answer in the blanks provided. If you decide not to answer a question (all questions are optional), please put the reason down: "undecided" / "private information" / "prefer not to answer" / "question is not well-posed" / "other: please specify". Although the Signpost cannot guarantee that complex answers can be processed for publication, it will help us improve future exit polls, if you give us comments about why you could not answer specific questions.
Detailed Instructions: you are welcome to answer these questions via usertalk (easiest), or via email (for a modicum of privacy).
We do promise to try hard, not to make any mistakes, in the processing and presentation of your answers. If you have any questions or concerns, you may contact column-editor GamerPro64, copy-editor 75.108.94.227, or copy-editor Ryk72. Thanks for reading, and thanks for helping Wikipedia. Season's Greetings!Hello Go Phightins!: Enjoy the holiday season and upcoming winter solstice, and thanks for your work to maintain, improve and expand Wikipedia. Cheers, North America1000 22:29, 20 December 2015 (UTC)
Wishing you all the best . . .Merry Christmas, Phightins, and may your holidays be merry and bright . . . . Cheers. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 05:59, 22 December 2015 (UTC) WikiCup 2016 is just around the corner...Hello everyone, and we would like to wish you all a happy holiday season. As you will probably already know, the 2016 WikiCup begins in the new year; there is still time to sign up. There are some changes we'd like to announce before the competition begins. After two years of serving as WikiCup judge, User:Miyagawa has stepped down as judge. He deserves great thanks and recognition for his dedication and hard work, and for providing necessary transition for a new group of judges in last year's Cup. Joining Christine (User:Figureskatingfan) and Jason (User:Sturmvogel 66) is Andrew (User:Godot13), a very successful WikiCup competitor and expert in Featured Pictures; he won the two previous competitions. This is a strong judging team, and we anticipate lots of enjoyment and good work coming from our 2016 competitors. We would also like to announce one change in how this year's WikiCup will be run. In the spirit of sportsmanship, Godot13 and Cwmhiraeth have chosen to limit their participation. See here for the announcement and a complete explanation of why. They and the judges feel that it will make for a more exciting, enjoyable, and productive competition. The discussions/polls concerning the next competition's rules will be closed soon, and rules changes will be made clear on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring and talk pages. The judges are committed to not repeating the confusion that occurred last year and to ensuring that the new rules are both fair and in the best interests of the competition, which is, first and foremost, about improving Wikipedia. If you have any questions or concerns, the judges can be reached on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, on their talk pages, or by email. We hope you will all join us in trying to make the 2015 WikiCup the most productive and enjoyable yet. You are receiving this message because you are listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Combining wouldn't be too difficult; they were both basically the same articleThe only problem would be how to combine the intro text. Serendipodous 16:35, 30 December 2015 (UTC) 2016

The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needing to be addressed. If these are fixed within 7 days, the article will pass; otherwise it may fail. See Talk:2014 Philadelphia Phillies season for things which need to be addressed. Disambiguation link notification for January 2Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2016 TaxSlayer Bowl, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Walk-on. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject. I hope they dont go into the back rooms and see the Award being molded into life. The personal care that gives a newbie a better chance at survival has always been of interest to me since my earliest times. Maybe this is the push that WER needs to revive our efforets at retaining editors. I think we will both agree that the wind in our sails has been dormant for many many months. Have a GREAT year. Buster Seven Talk 13:22, 2 January 2016 (UTC) Hey Buster, Happy New Year to you too! I apologize that I have been so sparse of late; real life commitments are just, well, tricky. I think next year (2016) should give me a little more free time, so I will do my best to at least comment on some more EotW nominations. Thank you for continuing to run that. I think editor retention is still a broadly recognized concern, and hope the project recognizes its importance on that page, but more importantly in general discourse. Happy editing, and God bless! WikiCup 2016: Game On!We are about to enter the second week of the 2016 WikiCup. The most recent player to sign up brings the current total to 101 contestants. Signups close on 5 February. If you’re interested, you can join this year's WikiCup here. We are aware that in some areas the scoring bot’s numbers are a little bit off (i.e., overly generous) and are working to have that corrected as soon as possible.--MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:04, 7 January 2016 (UTC) WikiCup 2016: Game On!We are about to enter the second week of the 2016 WikiCup. A tag has been placed on Jason Cabinda requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable. If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. I shouldn't have to google him. The point of Wikipedia, as with all encyclopedias, is that the article is suppos d to explained n why the person is important. Perhaps if the article stated wh he was important or as I like to say, wiki worthy, ... There is no reason to keep this info a secret. Postcard Cathy (talk) 22:02, 8 January 2016 (UTC)
Your GA nomination of 2014 Philadelphia Phillies seasonThe article 2014 Philadelphia Phillies season you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:2014 Philadelphia Phillies season for comments about the article. What do you think of notability here?Hey Ben, I'm not impartial, since I know the person, but what do you think of the notability of the filmmaker mentioned in the following articles? [7] [8] [9] [10] [11]. Do you think that the fact that he was getting coverage in large cities located over an hour away from his hometown would qualify him per WP:GNG? It's worth giving the articles a read, there is some interesting information in there. Ryan Vesey 04:10, 23 January 2016 (UTC)
Whenever I go a few weeks to months w/o editing and then return, I suddenly have empathy for newcomers who have no clue ... personally I like the caps, but I work closely with someone who doesn't at the Signpost, and he usually wins :-). Go Phightins! 19:06, 23 January 2016 (UTC) Since it is the Tenth Anniversaryof an editor in the Eddy Q, I am moving her up in the line and awarding her this week. Clerks prerogative I guess you could call it!. I just thought I would let you know about my "rule bending" in order to "cover my ass" in case one of your admin friends "has a cow"...and Bob's 'yer uncle as the Brits say.
