Thanks for the notification. I just checked his contributions, and you're completely right. I apologise, I thought he was referring to user notifications.--xanchester(t)22:42, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
hey there, i just added more references (market launches) to the page for Yxaiio i've created recently, and titled the reference list for a better overview; just wanted to ask if it's already fine with the notability guidelines. thanks, dowl --Dowl (talk) 20:38, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
hey there, i already edited this page several times, added more and more sources, still there's the 'several issues' box on the top, as well as the 'notability guidelines' box. found another page in wikipedia which is quite similar to the Yxaiio article i made, and just contains 2 sources (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preshafood). i'm sure that my article meets the notability guidelines, as well as the other article does. --Dowl (talk) 15:02, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
I have no source for what I said. You tend to exclude "citations" when somebody close to you is ripped from this world in cold blood by a psychopathic bastard. The sad thing is that he is innocent until proven guilty when there is no question of guilt whatsoever. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.128.13.254 (talk) 21:06, 25 October 2012 (UTC)

(talk page stalker)It sounds as if the IP is someone who lost a loved one at the hands of this killer. I am very sorry to hear that (and I'm sure Phightins! is as well) and I would expect that one day, this murderer's Wikipedia page will be able to say that he has been found guilty. However, until that time comes, we must accurately reflect that he is not officially guilty. Besides, I think the article makes it fairly clear that he is indeed guilty, even if it never explicitly states it. AutomaticStrikeout21:41, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
Yes, I am sorry that I didn't express that very clearly in my prior statement. I apologize for your loss, but until he's found guilty, we can't say he is guilty. GoPhightins!21:57, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
Teahouse
As it appears you are the Maitre 'D on duty at this time, I would like to point out to you the exceptionally large number of negative questions that have come in in the last few hours. It seems like all the questions are from disruptive editors wanting to accuse others of the wrongdoing. As I have a very hard time sounding diplomatic and helpful in situations like that, I thought I would ask you to take a gander at things and see if you can offer a helpful, yet correcting answer, especially to the current top question regarding Camilla, Duchess of York. Thanks! 05:31, 26 October 2012 (UTC)Gtwfan52 (talk) 05:32, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
At the moment, Jethrobot and others seem to have it under control, but I'll keep an eye on it. My editing is going to be sporadic at best today and tomorrow, but Sunday afternoon, I will keep a close eye on it. GoPhightins!10:43, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
Stub
Hello,
You answered my question I posted at the teahouse a few days ago about a draft start of an article I have. I am now at the stage were I would like to make this public but as a stub. How do I go about creating a stub. Thank you. LydiaRDoyle1992 (talk) 11:40, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
Hi, sorry it took a while to respond. You appear to have already created the stub, but if you have further questions, don't hesitate to ask. If you ask at the Teahouse, it may be answered faster than if you simply ask me, but you are welcome to do either. GoPhightins!19:01, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
Hey,
That is ok. Yes I managed to create it myself I am starting to get use to wikipedia a little more now. Thank you for the help never realised wikipedia would be such a great helpful communication tool. LydiaRDoyle1992 (talk) 19:19, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
Generally speaking, I think it's just to make sure everything's running smoothly. The maitre d' page gives a description...I think that we're supposed to make sure all questions are being responded to and that the inappropriate questions are moved to an appropriate location. GoPhightins!13:22, 27 October 2012 (UTC)
Hurricane Sandy
I saw your addition about Hurricane Sandy at the top of the page. Well, I'm a meteorologist and I can say you are in trouble, wherever you live. I flipped a coin the standard five time and it came up heads, heads, tails, heads, tail. Along with a roll of 3 on the dice, all this means you are in trouble. :) Bgwhite (talk) 20:47, 27 October 2012 (UTC)
Nothing about the hurricane scares me except the loss of power. The stoves were replaced last year so we have electric instead of gas. RyanVesey20:56, 27 October 2012 (UTC)
It's supposed to start raining tomorrow night, well actually I guess that's officially tonight as it's 12:01, so we'll see. GoPhightins!04:01, 28 October 2012 (UTC)
They just cancelled my classes for Tomorrow and Tuesday. I don't know whether I should be happy for two fall breaks in a row or angry because I'm paying between $200 and $500 for each lecture. They're taking $1200 from me basically. I'm also missing a class taught by Governor Ed Rendell. RyanVesey16:56, 28 October 2012 (UTC)
Well, that stinks. I didn't agree with most of Rendell's policies, but I have no doubt he's a bright guy and would be really interesting to hear. GoPhightins!18:54, 28 October 2012 (UTC)
I've noticed you've reverted a couple of users who volunteered to host at the teahouse. In the two cases I've noticed that was the right call and I appreciate you handling the situation gracefully. I'm have a small concern regarding the edit count you're suggesting based on my own experience: I probably had only around 800 edits when Sarah asked me to go ahead and be a host already. Granted, standards are going to be rising, but I wonder if instead of edits we should be emphasizing "good answers" to the questions posed there; answer a couple dozen questions well and we're happy to have you be a host.
Or maybe that just turns the process into a mini-RfA..... eh, ok, nevermind. I'll just be happy I got in when I did and leave it at that. GaramondLethe17:51, 28 October 2012 (UTC)
That was just an estimation. There are cases when editors who have as few as 500 edits could be ready, but none of the editors I rejected had even 150, so...I agree that some are definitely ready earlier, but that was just an estimation. Thanks for dropping by. GoPhightins!17:53, 28 October 2012 (UTC)
Yep, that's all reasonable. I think I'm still having an allergic reaction to edit-counts-used-as-a-competence-metric that I've picked up from reading too many recent RfAs. You're using it (and using it appropriately) as a guideline and goal, not as a binary decision variable. The teahouse is small enough that good sense and reasonable judgement should suffice for the foreseeable future, and I should stop borrowing trouble and get back to editing. Thanks for letting me use your talk page to work through that. GaramondLethe18:19, 28 October 2012 (UTC)
No problem, if you want, you can copy the anti-editcountitis userbox from my user page. I couldn't agree more on editcountitis. GoPhightins!18:25, 28 October 2012 (UTC)
Question
I do indeed apologize for my vandalism. I was making those vandalizations to demonstrate to a friend how quickly wikipedia cracks down on such kinds of edits. My question is, however, how did you manage to locate that edit and revert it so quickly? --69.251.88.103 (talk) 01:08, 29 October 2012 (UTC)
Hello, I use a program called Huggle which uses a filter to determine suspicious edits and then I go through and revert the ones that need to be reverted. GoPhightins!01:10, 29 October 2012 (UTC)

If there's consensus to have an article relating to all political ramifications, I will help with it, but I don't want to spend a lot of time on it only to have it deleted. GoPhightins!03:06, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
Oops revert
I totally understand. I came here to ask you why the revert, but saw your next edit. That happened to me once. But my computer froze and wouldn't let me revert myself. Not a good situation. Oh the joys of technology... Thanks for the re-revert :P gwickwire | Leave a message00:13, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
Hey, Go Phightins! The image you placed on David Bell's page was remove a couple of years ago because Bell isn't the focal point of the picture. Please leave it the way it is. --TCN7JM04:03, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
Er...no, but the user had removed the picture, giving the reason I gave you, and nobody argued against it. It is also in violation of WP:PERTINENCE because it does not specifically illustrate the topic. --TCN7JM04:13, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2012 Penn State Nittany Lions football team, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Tom Hart (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
So, I tried to write a Wikipedia Essay. And I'm not sure it's anything near good. So, if you have any time, or want to, would you mind taking a look? If you have feedback, feel free to tell me or just edit it yourself! User:Gwickwire/COI. Thanks! gwickwire | Leave a message03:28, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
Well, I read it. It's an interesting perspective. I think that warning templates can definitely be a negative and I use them more than I should, but the problem is that users see them, know that it's a template, and don't respond or ask questions. Therefore, I always try to put a Teahouse template on a page where I put a level one warning. My issue with your essay is that you never really explain how to resolve the issue or give a clear point on how you feel it should be addressed. GoPhightins!03:48, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
I'm not an expert in the subject, so I believe I've provided all the insightful commentary that I can...I'll monitor it, hopefully it'll get relisted so we can get another week or so. GoPhightins!21:09, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
Would you in that case perhaps consider abstaining? There currently seems to be emerging a (faux) non-consensus, while if you only count the regulars of WikiProject C++ and WikiProject Computing the there would seem to be a consensus that the article is beyond hope of improvement. —Ruud21:29, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
I'm curious why you quickly removed my edits on the Lou Saban page.
I made two edits;
1--The first was to revise a quote which was incorrectly worded. You said you wanted a source. The source is already listed, but the quote is incorrect.
2--I corrected an incorrect opponent when the article stated that OJ Simpson broke the single game rushing record v. the Washington Redskins in week 1 of the 1973 season.
a--Why doesn't the original information "need a source"? (especially since it is incorrect)
Hi, sorry for the delayed response. All I asked was that you provided a contradictory source, which you did. I apologize for the oversight and any confusion I may have caused you. Thanks for dropping by and pointing out my mistake, I do make them on occasion :) Let me know should you have further questions. Thanks--GoPhightins!06:16, 11 November 2012 (UTC)
Mark Buehrle
uhh... not constructive? How do you figure? The rest of the goddamn page says Toronto Blue Jays, how is changing one small thing to match "not constructive". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ipv6freely (talk • contribs) 00:42, 14 November 2012 (UTC)
Ipv6freely, although the trade has been widely reported, it hasn't been "officially" announced as far as I can tell. "According to reports" isn't the same as officially announced, and thus, Go Phitins! is technically correct. You can edit the article within policy now to say that there are widespread reports that the trade is imminent, but you shouldn't actually move the players to their new teams for (probably) another few hours. This is partly to be technically correct and partly to avoid misleading people if the trade falls through at the last minute, which does happen sometimes.
Go Phightins!, although your position is correct per policy as you are aware, this sort of thing happens all the time, and honestly it's not the biggest issue confronting Wikipedia, and I don't think you should drive yourself too crazy trying to avert trade edits that are a few hours early. Newyorkbrad (talk) 00:52, 14 November 2012 (UTC)
I'll assume both editors had good intentions. Calling the edits "unsourced" and explaining that the report is not quite official might have gone over better than calling them "not constructive". Before we accept reports as being merely premature and the official announcement a formality, see Phil Jackson recently or Chris Paul last years as far as premature announcements in the basketball world. I'll leave it to editors how vigilant they want to be, but Phightins did well to ask for protection at least.—Bagumba (talk) 01:42, 14 November 2012 (UTC)
Honestly, I left several edit summaries, asked the editor to look at them, and once he became entrenched enough not to pay attention to the cited policy, I figured he wasn't here to be constructive, so I left the level one vandalism template on his page. I probably should have left a message, but I saw that someone had changed I think it was Bonifacio, so I moved to that one and forgot to come back. Thanks again, Bagumba. GoPhightins!01:47, 14 November 2012 (UTC)
A new user might not know to look at article history to see an edit summary. Don't worry, just something to keep in mind for the next "report" :-) —Bagumba (talk) 01:57, 14 November 2012 (UTC)
Hey friend-- maître d' duty is coming up for you on the 15th; I'll actually be away in Milwaukee that time at a conference (and definitely off-wiki). Get ready for some intense Teahouse maintenance action!
Thanks for the reminder. I miss Kalas as well, I had off the day he died, the Phils played an afternoon game and I was all set to watch and they come on TV to say that he died...I cried for 15 minutes. GoPhightins!11:46, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

Does not grant you any special status above other editors.
You should probably also read WP:PROTECT, since this user privilege deals largely with page protection. As the requirements for this privilege are still in a state of flux, I would encourage you to keep up to date on the WP:REVIEWER page. Feel free to ask me if you have any questions! Happy editing! Good idea, I wasn't going to revert again as that would break the 3RR. You want to start the discussion? I'll comment tomorrow as I'm off to bed now. GoPhightins!04:13, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
Yup, kind of like that, although I'm not sure it's daily anymore. I've thought of doing something like this too, but I think the Hall of Fame will work for now. AutomaticStrikeout04:18, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
No, but it's a nice idea. This brightened my day (well now it's night, and with that I guess I should call it a night). I'll probably be back tomorrow. And the next day. And the next day. GoPhightins!04:20, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
I probably could, but I think that might become a strain. I already have a Hall of Fame, which is something a little bit different. Still, I won't rule out starting my own Wikipedian of the Day project at some point. AutomaticStrikeout04:26, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
Do you have a userbox that I can add for this rather than the template that is above...since it's not really a barnstar, I don't want to treat it as such. GoPhightins!20:36, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
No box for Precious, but you can use the one for Awesome Wikipedian, it's on the list. you can modify it to mention the date. Or create your own, see free design ideas. - As for giving Precious, you don't have to do it every day, just when you feel like it. Some others did the same, you will find that also. - I miss the one who did it for the longest time, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 05:39, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
OK, thanks. I probably won't start looking for candidates until after Thanksgiving, as my life is going to be nuts until then. But we'll see, if I have a free hour, I may start sooner. GoPhightins!11:41, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
Looks fine to me, but I'd check at that Wiki Project. Believe it or not, mine apparently doesn't meet their full criteria. It's better than it was, but still...they are a little picky over there. GoPhightins!03:48, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
Hi, I've been looking at User:Go Phightins!/common.css to figure out why you don't get the "Go Phightins! my talk my sandbox my preferences my watchlist my contributions log out" to appear correctly. There are two problems immediately apparent to me, and both concern lines of code which are not css at all: css files should contain only CSS, the presence of anything else may cause unexpected results, and some browsers may even refuse to process the page. I suspect the latter.
That is not css but wikicode. It should be removed, because not only might it break the CSS processing, it won't work as you might have intended: {{pp-protected}} doesn't confer protection, it's a message placed on a page that is already protected. However, there is no point to protecting this page, since user .css pages cannot be edited by non-admins (apart from the same user), and admins can edit pretty much any page whether protected or not.
Second, there is the code which you added with this edit: that is javascript code, totally unsuitable for a CSS file. This should be moved to User:Go Phightins!/common.js.
User:Go Phightins!/common.js could also do with cleanup: it has eleven instances of importScript( ... ); where only four are necessary (for instance, four of the eleven specify "User:Writ Keeper/Scripts/teahouseUtility.js", so three of those may be removed).
Hi...not sure how the protection thing got on the page; it may have come from the page from which I copied the code. That was unintended. I have moved the code as you suggested, I believe. We'll see if this works. Thanks a lot. GoPhightins!20:08, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
OK, I've worked it out, and I should have spotted it earlier. You nead to replicate this change. It's on the first line: the // is replaced by a /* and a */ is added at the end of the line. This is because in CSS, comments may only be specified by the /* */ delimiters. The // form is valid in Javascript but not in CSS. --Redrose64 (talk) 20:57, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
