Wikipedia Signpost — 2 March 2009
This week, the Wikipedia Signpost published volume 5, issue 9, which includes these articles:
FYI, you're going to have to address all the cleanup messages in this article before it can be considered for GA. Socrates2008 (Talk)10:34, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
I vaguely remember saying that "Gp75 is, of course, aware that he will have to meet certain criteria" but they never quite explained themselves. Is it that I have to do, let's say, X amount of edits a week, or is it just the topic ban itself that I have to stay under? --Gp75motorsportsTALK19:54, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
Because there was no indication that the article may meet guidelines for inclusion. See CSD A7 (that reason was stated in the light red box at the top that says "You are re-creating a page that was deleted". If you ever want to know why a page was deleted, enter it in the search box on the left pane and press Enter/Return. When the next page loads, click on the red link that says what you searched for, then you will see the bright red box above the edit window that explains why the page was deleted. The final thing I would like to tell you is please, indent your post if you are replying by using colons. -- IRP☎19:39, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
I appreciate the support, and I think we need to be more supportive of newbies at WT:RFA. Also, if you feel like weighing in at WT:RFA#Recall blanket voting, that thread could use some attention. It's a difficult thread, and I don't know how to make it simpler. (Watchlisting) - Dan Dank55 (push to talk) 05:45, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
I've responded again. Feel free to respond there; further responses by me will be at your talk page so as not to clog up the guy's RFA with our (moving to the philosophical) discussion that only tangentially touches the candidate him/herself. Carlossuarez46 (talk) 00:26, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
I know you said that I should keep to other helpful stuff for a while, but I'd still like to carry on with my "Today's Wikipedian" program. Plus, Rlevse's sick, which means that Bibliomaniac15's program and my program are the only two active at the moment; there were two "Today's Wikipedian" programs before I created my program. So, may I please carry on with my program?
Before I go, I would like to leave the following post scripts:
What do you think of my contribs since you alerted me?
Please reply here on your talk page; as of 3/27/09, I keep conversations to the original page.
I am going to go ahead with it tonight. I hope that's OK; I'd like to give Today's Wikipedian the award before going to bed, and giving the editor the award halfway through their day would seem rather pointless. Again, I hope it's OK. →Dyl@n62002:00, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
I was certainly not telling you that you must stop, just expressing my (albeit rather vehement) opinion that we do not need yet another Today's Wikipedian award going around. I'm afraid that I may have come across too harshly before, and for that I want to apologize. As we are a volunteer project, it's silly and rude to try to tell someone where they should or should not edit; I know that you're doing some decent work outside the mainspace, helping with ANI evidence and other stuff. Your contribs since we last spoke have been just fine; if you do a little antivandal work and keep up your other various gnoming activities, I will be quite satisfied. Thanks for your time, GlassCobra02:28, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
Why do you deleted the Venetian People page?
Please restore this page. It's explain thing that the italian nationalism hide!!
Otherwise you must cancel also Catalan people, Basque people, Breton people, Scottish people, etc.
Do you have a vested interest in this film that makes you delete the controversy section? There is clear evidence (as referenced in links) that the film is perceived as having racist elements by some people. Please cease vandalism of this section. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.194.117.232 (talk) 07:04, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Please assume good faith, 87.194.117.232. It is poor practice to accuse longstanding editors of vandalism. This does not meet the Wikipedia's definition of the act. If you disagree with someone's good faith edit, please engage the editor in discussion (per WP:BRD) rather than accusing him of vandalism. hmwithτ13:22, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
This guy disagreed with my edit and didn't engage in discussion before I tried. He disagrees with my references despite them being the only ones in the article. How much evidence do you need to back up 'some people believe...'? You take opinions from Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB all the time and they're just user submitted subjective opinion, just like forums and blogs. But then I'm not one of the wiki elite so I guess what I add dones't count. I didn't believe the rumours but I can see they're true, only the oligarchy can decide what the truth is on wikipedia and if anyone elses version disagrees with it then the oligarchs will cite 'unreliable sources' and silence it. Your claims of neutrality are quite frankly a joke. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.194.117.232 (talk) 16:23, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

One last thing before RfA
Hey GlassCobra - It's me again. Say, I was sort of mulling this over last night, and I was thinking that it may by better if you removed the sentence about my WikiProject participation from my nom. I understand why you put it in, and what you wrote about my participation in WikiProject South Dakota was all technically correct. However, the flip side of the situation is that the WikiProject isn't all that active (it's basically me and one other editor) and almost all the tagging I have ever done was in the last couple of days; I think that I have a total of like three or four edits to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject South Dakota. In other words, I've never really been much of a WikiProject co-ordinator, even though my most recent edits may make it look that way. I just think that people may read the nom, see my edit count, and think "something ain't right here"; it may look a bit dishonest, not on your part, but on mine, for OKing a nom that could be seen as presenting me as something I'm really not. Other than that, though, like I said when we spoke earlier, the nom looks great. I'll probably wait on the transclusion until this is done. I'll be on-wiki for the next few hours, working on my answers and so on, if you have any questions or comments. Thanks - AlexiusHoratius15:36, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Sure thing, I'll go tweak it now. :) I don't think removing it entirely is necessary, we still want to keep the stuff about your article assessing, but perhaps "foremost" might be a little much. GlassCobra15:55, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Looks great now, and I see your point about not removing it entirely. It probably wasn't that big of a deal to start with, I just thought that the original made me sound like some hard-core WikiProject editor, more involved than I really am, anyway. Thanks for taking care of that. I'm thinking about transcluding around 3 p.m. central US time, after I answer the questions of course. AlexiusHoratius16:12, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Sounds good. You can be as active or inactive as you want - completely up to you. I'm not expecting any major participation past this point on your part, but if you want to drop by, that's cool too. AlexiusHoratius16:29, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.
I finally answered the questions. Not too gripping, but hey, I appreciate you and Jayron as noms. Anyhoo, ball is your court! Lawshoot!07:57, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
Happy April Fools!
Happy April Fools' Day!
Hey, it's finally the day...! Some of you have been really anticipating it, and helping Wikipedia by preparing nonsense for the Main Page or doing other silly stuff. It's only 1 day out of 365, so us overstressed wikiholics should use the day to look at things a tad differently. ;) Have fun! Jamie☆S9313:29, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
...it's a compilation of 220 featured articles starting from today. I was wondering if I could write something in my userspace detailing the lifecycle of an FA so I could import it into the book? --Gp75motorsportsTALK15:00, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
That's the sort of thing you should be saving on your hard drive; it doesn't need to be on-wiki. If you can't save it to your hard drive (for example, if you're on a publicly-accessible computer), use a webmail program and write it as a draft email to yourself (that's what I'd do back in the day). EVula// talk // ☯ //15:04, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
But I'm on a topic ban which restricts me to the mainspace and the talkspace unless I gain permission to edit elsewhere, so I have to ask someone involved with my "case". --Gp75motorsportsTALK18:52, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

My RFA passed today at 61/5/4. Thanks for participating in my RFA. I appreciate all the comments I received and will endeavor to justify the trust the WP community has placed in me. Have a nice day. :-) AdjustShift (talk) 21:20, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks to everyone who took the time and trouble to take part in my RfA whether support, oppose or neutral. All comments are valued and will be considered carefully in the coming weeks. Feel free to add more advice on my talk page if you think I need it. Please read the edits before issuing threats. I have added bona fide information regarding York Schools. Others have acted in a group to revert the information. Don't shoot the messenger. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tomtolkien (talk • contribs) 22:16, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
Point taken - I have raised this on the discussion page, although I trust you will warn the other parties involved and prevent moderators flouting the 3 revert rules? Tomtolkien (talk) 22:23, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
Hi, just wondered if you can let me know what is going on with the Malton, North Yorkshire article? I would hate to tread on toes here but the Education section appears to be valid information even if unreferenced. May be there is some other valid reason for its removal which happened while I was away. Keith D (talk) 19:05, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Please read what I have added regarding the question of whether to delete my article.
Yes I just have the one account...and another one I created years ago, never used, and forgot the login details. —Preceding unsigned comment added by F4M (talk • contribs) 17:48, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
