I am new to wikipedia, and completely confused about uploading a photograph. It is my own photograph, but it is of a public building (a nonprofit museum). Just the outside of the building. Do I need some type of license to upload the photograph?

Adding references can be easy

Just follow the steps 1, 2 and 3 as shown and fill in the details

Hello! Here's how to add references from reliable sources for the content you add to Wikipedia. This helps maintain the Wikipedia policy of verifiability.

Adding well formatted references is actually quite easy:

  1. While editing any article or a wikipage, on the top of the edit window you will see a toolbar which says "Cite". Click on it.
  2. Then click on "Templates".
  3. Choose the most appropriate template and fill in as many details as you can. This will add a well formatted reference that is helpful in case the web URL (or "website link") becomes inactive in the future.
  4. Click on Preview when you're done filling out the 'Cite (web/news/book/journal)' to make sure that the reference is correct.
  5. Click on Insert to insert the reference into your editing window content.
  6. Click on Show preview to Preview all your editing changes.
  • Before clicking on Save page, check that a References header   ==References==   is near the end of the article.
  • And check that   {{Reflist}}    is directly underneath that header.
7.  Click on Save page. ...and you've just added a complete reference to a Wikipedia article.

I saw your question at Teahouse and I thought that I would try to give you some help. Above you will find a handy dandy little guide for the correct way to format references on Wikipedia. What Cullen told you at Teahouse about the notability of elementary schools is spot on. Generally, elementary schools do not get articles on Wikipedia unless they are historically or architecturally significant. I see reference to a NRHP nomination. If the place has been actually placed on the NRHP, you will have an article, no problem. I would suggest that you go to Wikiproject NRHP and make use of their article guidelines and especially the nifty tool they have for creating an infobox for the article. I have added that infobox for you and incorporated the photo you had in the lede into it. However, if the school has only been nominated and not yet accepted, you do not yet have an article. You will if and when the nomination gets accepted.

I am not at all following what the numbers in brackets that you have placed in the article are supposed to be linking to. I am guessing that you were trying to do referencing, but as you can see above, that is automated for you if you do it the standard way. That really needs to get straightened out.

If you look in the section titled Architecture, you will notice I formatted a few wikilinks for you to show you how. (Spanish revival architecture, transom, and corbelling). when you use a rather obscure term like corbelling, you should wikilink it so the average reader can find out easily what it means.

Image problem

Hello Gina,

Talk page suggestion

Hello Gina,

I responded to you latest message on my talk page. I appreciate your kind words, and wish you well.

Here's a suggestion: At the top of every active talk page is a menu bar, and one of the choices is "New section". When you want to discuss a new topic with another editor, click that choice. Then, add a descriptive name in the box that says "Subject/headline". Then, type your message in the edit box. Always finish with four tildes, like this "~~~~". Those squigglies sign your username, and date stamp it. This will make it much easier for other editors to keep track of what you have to say.

kk, I'm 'kinda' done. The total set of changes is here. It still need a bit of editing (that I'm going to leave to you, I need to run for a bit, but will be back) as a lot of the things mentioned in 'restoration' are also mentioned earlier, and there is at least one modification mentioned under architecture that should be under 'historical modification'. Also, while your citations (using ibid, particularly) are correct for 'scholarly' use, they don't fit WikiStyle (there is a different way to do it that looks better) but I will address that when I get back.
You write quite well, though. The general style and tone is QUITE appropriate for an encyclopedia, and a hell of a lot better that most new editors do. :) BTW, I think you changed a couple of the convert templates to the rendered text, which I changed back. Also, you should add back the 'external links' section at the end (refer to WP:ORDER to see where exactly) with links to the homepages of the Historical Society, NRHP, Arizona RHP, and the museum if it has one. Back, rent paid, and getting altered (LOL). Sorry, I'm in a bit of a silly mood, but it's legitimately medical (PTSD). I did my edits one section at a time, so I do need to also check that all of the wikilinks are at the first mention (I had another tab open, and was checking for appropriate articles in that. BTW, some of my phrasing changes weren't really for grammar, to eliminate some repetitive word usage that I'm pretty sure was an artifact of your earlier editing. BTW, I dunno if you saw my comment about 'Notability' earlier, but there's not a chance in hell of this getting deleted. There's a WikiProject specifically about getting high-quality articles on NHRP sites (it's on the article's talk page), and this one is really good, IMO, especially for just being your writing. When this is finalized, it would be a good idea to submit it to the project for 'reassesment', which basically means 'third-party' experience editors will rate it, which is how articles move up the long road from being 'stubs' to eventually being TFA (i.e. on the front page).
