Dennis Cole

My edits related to Dennis Cole are not POV. It is well documented that he suffered from a significant degree of alcoholism which affected what was a burgeoning career which readers should know about. IMDB is only one source and I do not believe that mulitple sources are needed to reference his illness. Secondly I am not sure of your qualifications related to quantifying the reputabliity of 'sources' as you have with IMDB. It is a site very similar to Wiki where members may include information and it is vetted by the editors. Taking licence to determine what you feel arbitrarily what is reputable is not only irresponsible but censoring. From my point of view you don't have the right to do that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Magoohoo (talkcontribs) 14:57, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

I am not saying that the edit is POV, I am saying that you have not sourced the edits. You have the burden as the person adding the material to provide a reliable source or the information since it has been challenged. I personnaly have not said that IMDb is not a reliable source that is the consensus here on Wikipedia. If you disagree you can ask at the reliable sources noticeboard. Before you do though you might want to look at some of the previous discussions about IMDb.
Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 17#Is IMDb a reliable source?
Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 96#IMDB
And plenty more from where those two came from here.
You might also want to read what WikiProject Film has to say about IMDb, here. Before you readd it please add a reliable source for the information. GB fan 23:36, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

Magic Mart

Hi GB fan, I saw that you deleted an article about Magic Mart, I am looking to create an article on Magic Mart which is a Department store in Western North Carolina, Western Virginia, Eastern Kentucky and West Virginia. Is that the same one you deleted before? ACase0000 (talk) 04:54, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

Yes it is the same company. There is nothing to restore though as the only difference from what was in the article and what you put above was the number of stores the company had at the time. The article had no references. If you feel the company is notable, go ahead and start a new article. GB fan 09:57, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

Ok Thanks, I will! ACase0000 (talk) 21:54, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

Bleeding edge (novel)

Well, OK, how does one go about getting something like this redirect deleted? I'm certainly willing to believe I'm incorrect about this needing to be deleted and somebody will school me well and good, but at the moment I can't find where to start that conversation. (I also started the Talk page, but redirects are always a bit unpleasant to navigate, so I'm also asking here.) Choor monster (talk) 13:27, 15 September 2013 (UTC)

You can nominate it for deletion through the WP:RFD process. GB fan 13:33, 15 September 2013 (UTC)

Protect a redirect?

Hey, I thought I'd give you a little background on the Jobie Hughes redirect that you restored. (An IP had created an entry using copyvio.) Long story short, before it was deleted a user had been coming in and editing the page and making it wildly promotional. I actually had my user page vandalized by one of the users, which all ended up being sockpuppets of User:Jobieh. I know there's no concrete 100% proof, but I'm convinced that it was Jobie Hughes himself. He kept trying to revert it back to a specific version, citing "this is factually incorrect" and various different things... yet never actually sourced anything with something that would really back up any of the claims. Much of it was information that was somewhat specific to where only Hughes would know it for certain. So long story short, the page got nominated for deletion and the socks got blocked. I see that an IP came on to edit, which I'm fairly certain is Hughes trying to edit again. Part of his tell is that he tries to list copyvio from his website.

In any case, can you protect the page to where either only admins can edit it or to where only auto-confirmed users can edit? I can say that if Jobieh gets it into his head to edit, this is only going to be the start of an onslaught of attempts to create a promotional entry, edit warring and all. Jobieh has already proven that he's willing to get nasty with his edits (my user page had personal attacks made on it), so odds are that if this starts up again we'd have to run another SPI and block more socks and IPs where possible. I figure it's just safer to give it full protection. (Or semi, but full would probably be better.) Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 16:39, 27 September 2013 (UTC)

There isn't enough recent problems to justify protection. It just needs to be watched and reverted if needed. GB fan 22:05, 27 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi GB fan i just a bad news please report John Odonnell Remollo PETALCORIN because he evil! did you know hes a MNLF Director for Advocacy and Special Projects please banned him! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 180.194.239.65 (talk) 06:26, 6 October 2013 (UTC)

No I can not, if you feel he should be banned you will need to report him and justify why he should be banned. The place to do that is at WP:AN. GB fan 13:37, 7 October 2013 (UTC)

Regarding the declined speedy deletion

WP:G7 actually states the following: "(For redirects created as a result of a pagemove, the mover must also have been the only substantive contributor to the pages prior to the move.)" Therefore, your reasoning for declining was invalid, and I ask that you reconsider. Dogmaticeclectic (talk) 18:18, 21 October 2013 (UTC)

Some speedies

like Kath Eats Real Food should probably be marked as G11 as well as G7 (and might turn out to be G12 also, ) For articles that assert something , but not anything that is really important, I usually think it best to give all applicable reasons. Saves a lot of arguments, and discourages re-creation of what's inevitably going to be hopeless. DGG ( talk ) 00:51, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

I agree that speedies when applicable should be marked with all criteria that apply. In that case I did not think that the article was "exclusively promotional, and would need to be fundamentally rewritten to become encyclopedic." A lot of times it is subjective if the article meets certain criteria. In this case you obviously thought it met the G11 criteria and I didn't think it met the criteria. When I nominate or delete articles under the speedy deletion criterion, I mark/delete them with the ones I believe they meet. GB fan 14:08, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

You've deleted a page

Hi You have deleted a page regarding the director Antonio Tublén for the following reason: "(A7: Article about a real person, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject)" On what grounds do you find a person who has directed two feature films (where one won the price for Best Feature Film at the Shanghai Film festival, considered an A-film festival)?

Sincerely /Robert — Preceding unsigned comment added by Drmoog (talkcontribs) 22:52, 6 November 2013 (UTC)

If the article had said anything about the things you say he did, I would have not deleted it. Here is the the entire text of the article I deleted.
Swedish director, composer, writer. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0875659/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1
As you can see it did not make any claim to significance. You can create an article that does make a claim of significance. GB fan 23:05, 6 November 2013 (UTC)

Sorry, don't know how to reply within a conversation. I see your point regarding the deleted article. Now I've created a new page about mr Tublén with a fair amount of references to his work. There's still a "speedy deletion" tag, that I deleted and you reverted back to. Sorry, didn't know you weren't supposed to do that. But right now I'm confused over why the speedy deletion tag is still there? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Drmoog (talkcontribs) 23:59, 6 November 2013 (UTC)

The tag is there because an editor believes that the article does not make a claim to significance. I am not going to review this article as I have already deleted it once. Another admin will review the article and either delete it or remove the tag. GB fan 00:10, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

Lance Ringnald (building) P.s. Thanks, big guy.

{{inuse}}

Lance Ringnald is a retired American gymnast who participated in the 1988 Olympics. As a 16 year old, Ringnald moved to New Mexico to train at a local club, Gold Cup Gymnastics. In 1988, Ringnald, at 18, was the youngest male member of a U.S. Olympics Team since 20 years before. At that competition, Ringnald made the all around finals, where he placed 35th. In 1989, he was a member of the US men's World Team. In 1990, at the Goodwill Games, he had one of his best international results, earning bronze medals in the all around, parallel bars, and high bar. In 1991, he was again a member of the men's World Championships team.

That same year, he suffered a torn chest muscle (pectoralis major). One of his few injuries requiring surgery, it happened 10 months before the 1992 Olympics. Ringnald was able to make the 1992 team (as an alternate), which he was grateful for. In 1993, he was again a member of the men's World team, but, later that year, he retired from competition.

Since his retirement, Ringnald has been a cruise ship entertainer, combining gymnastic performance with discussion of his experiences as well as juggling.

I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. If everyone in the disambiguation link fixers category were to fix 500 links, we would have them all done - so aim high! Cheers! bd2412 T 02:25, 18 November 2013 (UTC)

Help with 3 reverts

McGibney Article

With regards to the confirmation of the Chadwick degree, I received confirmation from Chadwick University today that McGibney did "graduate" from their school in June 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA). His student ID number is (Redacted) and they listed his home address in Boulder City, NV. I can provide you with this information and the name and contact information of the person within Chadwick who can also confirm this with you. So I request that the article be updated to include this information. Dead Goldfish (talk) 04:57, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

Sorry, that is what we call original research and it is not acceptable as a source. Until we get resolution of the issues brought up at OTRS I do not believe the information belongs in the article. GB fan 10:44, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
I have just sent an email to OTRS with the confirmation from Chadwick University's Office of Registrar on McGibney's "degree". Can you please tell me if "info-en-q@wikimedia.org" is the correct address for contacting OTRS? The folks at Chadwick were only to happy to confirm his attendance and "degree". They even provided me his home number and street address, student ID number, and date of "graduation." I can give you their contact information and you can do the same. Or just Google them and you can find it yourself. Thus, it seems to me that this information is clearly "confirmed." Dead Goldfish (talk) 18:55, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

The Civility Barnstar
For the great feedback on Old prod tags and the civil discussion on my talk page. Magioladitis (talk) 15:56, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

What?

Regarding that article I've already told the reason many times in my previous edits. People just don't wanna understand anything they think they're correct and editing as they like. If you have warned me then you must warn others also who have edited that article not to get in an edit war. MythoEditor (talk) 11:02, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

Also even I was unvolved in an edit war that doesn't mean you can freely revert my or others edit according to your wish. MythoEditor (talk) 11:05, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
Actually you are the only one edit warring against the opinion of multiple other editors, so there is no reason to warn anyone else. You were bold and removed the sources you think are not reliable. That was reverted, the next step you should have taken is to start a discussion about the sources and get a consensus if the sources are reliable or not. What you shouldn't do is to continue to try to impose your opinion on the reliability of the sources. You could even ask at the reliable sources noticeboard. GB fan 11:25, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
How about that maybe the opinion of multiple editors might be wrong? It's not neccesary that majority gurantees reliability. MythoEditor (talk) 07:00, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
You are right multiple editors might be wrong. The problem is that edit warring against multiple editors gets you blocked. If the multiple editors are wrong the way to show that is through discussion on talk pages not reverts. GB fan 11:41, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
Also User:RegentsPark has himself said that one of the sources (Speakingtree.in) is not RS. Now I don't think I'm the only one. I doubt any of the sources are actually reliable. Also again they are not academic or scholary sources. MythoEditor (talk) 07:04, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
Once again you are right, someone agreed with you on a single source. You might be correct about all of the sources you removed, I don't know. The way to determine that is to discuss the sources not edit war to try to impose your opinion of the sources. From your contributions it looks like you are now handling the situation correctly. Instead of edit warring to remove the sources you are discussing the sources at an appropriate venue, WP:RSN. GB fan 11:41, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
Regentspark said the sources do not seem to be reliable. That opinion of Patnaik is no more there so I somewhat can't understand which source he is talking about. Maybe he said all the sources seem unreliable or I can't say for sure. But still the main thing I came here is to ask for you opinion at RSN. You can see I've written what I wanted at WP:RSN. I've also provided many scholary sources about Nahusha and Yayati and also provided a scholary source that tells Ashok Sundri was actually a play by Shambuprashad Dunghel and maybe she was a character in it. All of them prove that the sources of the article are providing wrong information. Verifiability of a second - hand source depends upon the first - hand source it uses. The sources of the article do not use cite any first hand scholary or reliable source. However the websites I've provided do. I think these sources can be called questionable sources for now as according to WP:RS which have a poor reputation for checking facts and their information is based upon rumours and personal opinions. They are probably just copy pasting each other's story without checking it's verifiability. It can easily be distinguished here which sources are reliable and which are unreliable. I wasn't actually imposing myself on anyone I only mentioned the correct facts though I accept I crossed my limits. I'll like to request to provide your opinion about these sources at RSN. I know my comment at RSN might be quite long but I'm a newcomer and I am not good at keeping my comments brief. I apologize for that too. I'll be much obliged for your advice. MythoEditor (talk) 17:54, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

Regentspark said that both the sources are by Devdutt Patnaik. He's right though actually they have copied and pasted the content from that opinion piece by Devdutt Patnaik which you yourself deleted from the article. As such they cannot be considered reliable. Deleted sources from the aritcle Ashokasundari that had actually nothing to do with the article

User:Redtigerxyz had added a few sources to the above mentioned article:

The thing is that they all tell about Nahusha/Nahusa and Yayati however none of them actually said anything at all about Ashoksundari. In fact the Puranic Encylopedia by Vettam Mani I've mentioned says that Viraja married Nahusha. It is clear that none of these sources have anything to do with Ashoksundari. As a result I have removed those sources from article. Also needless to say these sources prove that the information in the article of Ashoksundari is wrong. MythoEditor (talk) 06:11, 19 December 2013 (UTC)

My talk page is not the proper place to discuss this. The proper place is at the article talk page. If you still feel the sources don't warrant an article then it is also proper to discuss it at an AFD. GB fan 11:32, 19 December 2013 (UTC)
I just wanted to ask for your advice in order to make sure I didn't make mistakes like last time. But doesn't a sourceless article fit the criteria of quick deletion? MythoEditor (talk) 13:14, 19 December 2013 (UTC)
No, a sourcesless article does not meet any of the speedy deletion criteria. If you feel it should be deleted, the best way to go is to start a deletion discussion. You stated on RegentsPark's talk page that you are concerned it will just be recreated. If the article is deleted at WP:AFD then it can only be recreated if it is shown that the reasons for deletion have been addressed. GB fan 13:19, 19 December 2013 (UTC)
Actually those sources did contain Asokasundari. I couldn't find about her in them because I was searching for her using the wrong spellings "Ashokasundari". In the sources she is written as Asokasundari. Well anyway I guess that solves the problem there. Theses sources seem reliable and they are before the time Asokasundari appeared in the TV show "Devon ke DEV Mahadev". MythoEditor (talk) 09:46, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

Spoam ?

Why can't I publish spoam as a new definition ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Enyouvan (talkcontribs) 15:59, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

Enyouvan, we only include articles in Wikipedia that have received significant coverage in reliable sources. According to what I saw you created the word spoam and it appears this is the first place it has been published. If the scintific community starts using the word then it would be acceptable for Wikipedia. GB fan 16:07, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

Revdel warranted?

While I've used Revdel many times, virtually always it has been a result of copyvio cleaning. I'd like to get a second opinion on a potential revdel. In addition, as you know, I have contributed to the article. My involvement arises from an OTRS request. I believe I'm acting appropriately, but there is a potential for a claim of bias, so I'd like to get a second opinion. I picked you from Category:Wikipedia administrators willing to handle RevisionDelete requests because you are also familiar with the back story.

The edit summary in this edit contains a non-referenced statement that many might view as an attack. On the one hand, we take a firm stand that personal attacks are not allowed, on the other hand, we do not use revdel cavalierly, so I don't want to misuse it if the view is that it is not such a big deal.

I have been out of town with family for the last few days and won't get home until tomorrow. I had seen the comment when it was first made. Regarding Saholic Wikipedia Page

Hi Gb Fan, I believe the saholic wiki pedia page should bedeleted since the original content has been changed to become an advertisement. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.172.250.186 (talkcontribs) 14:17, 2 January 2014‎

This is a reason to edit the article and clean it up, not a reason to delete the article. If you truly feel the article should be deleted you need to use either the WP:Prod or WP:AFD process to delete it. The reason has to be more than it now reads like an advertisement because once again if there is an acceptable version in the past then we can always revert to that version rather than deleting. GB fan 14:32, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

Hello

Great to see others are watching over the article but you should be careful when adding templates on the old timers pages. I dont personally care because it shows me that others are seeing the problem ...but many old timers hate being told what they know as per Wikipedia:Don't template the regulars. As i said i dont mind just dont want to see you run into conflicts over this point with others. Have a good day my new friend. -- Moxy (talk) 18:49, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

Well as a fairly old-timer myself, I go by the opposite standard of Template the regulars. If someone wants to complain about it they can, it doesn't bother me. GB fan 18:58, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
Sound reasonable my friend. Never seen that essay....its written a bit oddly and i guess this why is still in a user space...but i do like it ...thus think if we work on it a bit we can make it a real essay. -- Moxy (talk) 19:11, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

deleting Tim Cumming wiki page

GB Fan. You appear to have deleted the page Pitt Street Poetry, one of my publishers, put up last year, on Tim Cumming. Please reinstate it. I have had seven poetry collections published my work appears in the major 2010 anthology of British poetry, Identity Parade, in the Forward Poetry Poems of the Decade, and poems have appeared in The Guardian and Independent, as well as dozens of magazines sine the late 1980s. I have been widely reviewed in the poetry press since the early 1990s. I also made the highly acclaimed Hawkwind Do Not Panic documentary for the BBC in 2007, which opened last year's major festival of music films at the DanishFilm Institute - so for you to delete the entry on me because of 'notability' issues is highly insulting and incorrect. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.244.234.228 (talk) 11:19, 3 January 2014 (UTC)

I have restored the page. The article was proposed for deletion by Piotrus and since no one objected to the deletion I deleted the article. If you have concerns about the rationale used in the nomination you can discuss that with Piotrus. GB fan 11:52, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
My reply is at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tim Cumming. I invite interested parties to present better sources. Hello GB fan

hi. i am Niko. on user profiles how do you get artical /page links? For example a link to the page Kasta. Also how are you? Mudak568 (talk) 15:17, 3 January 2014 (UTC)

I am good. You can make a link to any page by adding two square brackets before and after the title of the page. So to add a link to Kasta, you would add [[Kasta]] to the page and then when you save it, it will look like, Kasta. GB fan 15:22, 3 January 2014 (UTC)

About Hafiz Muhammad Fazal Azim Taha

GB fan! Hi! I M Raja Umar. Pleased to see your efforts on Wikipedia and i m grateful that you have reviewed my work on Wikipedia Article Hafiz Muhammad Fazal Azim Taha. He is a famous Pakistani poet and i have tried to write an article on Wikipedia for his lovers to know his background as well. But due to some circumstances you have deleted this article. Now! I shall be very thankful to you if you guide me and edit this article with more appropriate work. I m also ready to work with you and it will be an honor for me. Cheers!Raja Umar Khan (talk) 05:46, 4 January 2014 (UTC)

As a new editor it is hard to understand all the policies and guidelines about writing articles, I understand that. I can help review a draft article but I do not know anything about Pakistani poet, so I would not be much of a help finding sources. The process that has been developed to help new editors through the writing of articles is articles for creation. I see you started using it when you created, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Hafiz Muhammad Fazal Azim Taha. A draft article there won't be deleted as long as you are trying to improve it. A good place to ask questions about how to make your draft article ready is at the Teahouse. I would suggest you read, Wikipedia:Your first article. It is a very good page for newer editors on the requirements for writing an article. If you have any questions about your article you can always ask here. GB fan 12:38, 4 January 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for your quick reply. Is it possible that if I'll give you information about this poet and you will write an article by telling me a single one of your step?Raja Umar Khan (talk) 08:35, 5 January 2014 (UTC
I am not interested in writing an article for you. Here are the steps I think you should take:
1. read WP:FIRST
2. find reliable sources that discuss the subject of your article
3. write the draft article at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Hafiz Muhammad Fazal Azim Taha based on what the sources say
4. ask for feedback about the article
5. modify or publish the article based on feedback
I hope this helps you write the article. If you are not interested in writing the article yourself you can ask for it to be created at Wikipedia:Requested articles. GB fan 11:54, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

deletion of Jozef Stolorz page

Dear GP

Look slike the page related to the artwork of Jozef Stolorz, a renowned Polish Art Painter has been removed. Based on my knowledge this page has been setup 6-7 years ago, and maintained by fans of his artwork.

Jozef Stolorz is considered one of the most influential Polish contemporary art painters. He was the first Polish artist to be featured at the World's largest art exhibition Art Expo New York in 2009, in addition to 150+ individual exhibitions worldwide. His artwork was also featured at dozens of articles in printed media, and covered by life TV and radio. His artwork was also used by renowned musicians (inculding Gorecki, and Gembalski). Some of the TV coverage, and his artwork is also available on youtube for your information. I would appreciate if you could undelete the page in recognition of his contribution to art, and Polish society. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sstolorz (talkcontribs) 16:44, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

All I deleted was a redirect that was directed at Józef Stolorz. The actual article was deleted 4 June 2013 by LFaraone after a deletion discussion, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Józef Stolorz. The article was nominated for deletion by Piotrus. If you have concerns you should raise them with LFaraone. GB fan 17:01, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

I keep trying to delete this page...I've tried everything. The information is unauthorized, inaccurate and must be removed immediately. Please remove this page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Erawds (talkcontribs) 12:55, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

The way you have been trying to get it deleted does not work. Blanking the article will get an immediate restoration of the content. No biography on Wikipedia must be authorized by the subject of the article so that is not a reason to delete an article. If the information is inaccurate then that is something we need to fix. Can you explain what is inaccurate about the information in the article? GB fan 13:04, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

The name is not correct and the information is inaccurate. Please just delete the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Erawds (talkcontribs) 14:20, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

According to the sources the name is correct, do you have a source for a change of name? What information is inaccurate? I can't just delete the page. There has to be an acceptable reason to delete it and so far you haven't given one. GB fan 14:53, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

Question

Hello. I know I didn't make the right deletion template, as I do not know much about the whole deletion of articles. I was wondering if you had any suggestions as to what to do with the article. It looks as to if not much people have edit it as often as other articles, and I don't think it is a "notable" league. Yes, the league is noticeable in NE Kansas, but not the whole state of Kansas, as well as the U.S. Any suggestions would be great. Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 02:38, 23 January 2014 (UTC)

I deleted it under speedy deletion criterion A7. You had marked it as G7 which means the original and only significant contributor requests deletion. A7 is for non-notable organizations. I also deleted the malformed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Centennial League that you created as it is not needed. GB fan 12:35, 23 January 2014 (UTC)

Hi GB fan, You never answered my question on the other post about you deleting the article. My Question was: What are/is/would you consider as significant coverage of him? --ACase0000 (talk) 06:56, 8 February 2014 (UTC)

I apologize. I went back and read my last answer to you and read the article again, I did not do a good job of expressing myself. I have restored the article to your userspace so you can work on it, you can find it at User:ACase0000/Gabe Gutierrez. The article did have two sources that provide significant coverage. The sources from tvspy and NBCnews are significant coverage as they are devoted to Gabe Guitierrez. The problem with the article is that it does not say what is significant about him. The article says he is a reporter working for NBC news. For an article about him to survive you would need to have sources that show some kind of significance, not just that he is a reporter. Request to Unprotect Page

Hello, GB_fan. I am requesting that you unprotect the page Toontown Rewritten due to the following reasons. As validated on the deletion page, the subject does meet the criteria to be an eligible subject, but the former articles just did not reflect the significance of the given subject. I wish to recreate the page and incorporate all required information regarding the website toontownrewritten.com and encompass all notabilities.

For background information, Toontown Rewritten is a website entailing a remake of the former Disney game, Disney's Toontown Online. There is a community of thousands attributed from the game that was public for over 10 years. Members of this community want to be informed about future milestones of this private server that is meant to prolong the game, and since the article Disney's Toontown Online is exclusively about the works of Disney Interactive and VR Studios, it is my obligation to create a separate page about the successful private server made by individual sources.

If you could look over this matter it would be much appreciated. Have a nice day.

VeteranToon (talk) 18:00, 13 February 2014

What you should do is create the article in your userspace such as User:VeteranToon/Toontown Rewritten. Then when you think it meets our inclusion guidelines then you can let me know and I will look it over. If it does meet the guidelines I will unprotect the page and it can be moved to the mainspace. Before you start the page though please read Wikipedia:Your first article GB fan 18:55, 13 February 2014 (UTC)

why delete the article of wise disk cleaner

Your comments at Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion#Don Balfour (politician) BLP issues, about Senator Balfour not measuring up to WP:GNG, made me wonder how acquainted you were with the wi

whether you are sufficiently acquainted with WP:POLITICIAN. Several other contributors brought up this special purpose notability guideline. I think you will find Special purpose guidelines take precedence over the GNG in those limited instances where they apply.

Medal of Honor receipients? Notable without having to satisfey GNG.

Generals and Admirals? Notable without having to satisfy GNG.

Politicians and other officeholders at the State/Province and Federal/Nation level are presumed notable, without having to satisfy GNG, per POLITICIAN.

Have you nominated any other articles for deletion, because you thought the subject didn't measure up to GNG? Is it possible that any of those earlier AFD might have been on articles on topics where a special purpose guideline applied, instead of GNG? Geo Swan (talk) 01:21, 20 February 2014 (UTC)

Special purpose guidelines do not take precedence over GNG. Special guidelines list out under what circumstances the subject is likely to be notable, not when they absolutely are. Take WP:Politician for example. That section is a subsection of the Additional criteria section of Wikipedia:Notability (people). Everything that falls under Additional criteria needs to follow the text there. That text says: "People are likely to be notable if they meet any of the following standards. Failure to meet these criteria is not conclusive proof that a subject should not be included; conversely, meeting one or more does not guarantee that a subject should be included." When you break that apart it talks about what meeting the special guidelines means and what not meeting them means. It starts off with people are likely to be notable if they meet any of the criteria, including WP:Politician. It does not say they are absolutely notable if they meet a special criteria. It goes on to say that not meeting any of the criteria does not mean that the person is not notable. It also specifically says that someone who does meet one or more of the special guidelines does not guarantee that the person should be included in the encyclopedia. When you actually read the whole guideline it does not say that anyone is automatically notable for who they are.
Reading the main WP:Notability guideline, the Notability requires verifiable evidence section it says: "The common theme in the notability guidelines is that there must be verifiable, objective evidence that the subject has received significant attention from independent sources to support a claim of notability." It goes on to say: "No subject is automatically or inherently notable merely because it exists: The evidence must show the topic has gained significant independent coverage or recognition, ...." Everything I read says you are wrong in your assertion that the special guidelines override the need for significant coverage in reliable sources. Can you point to a guideline that says the special guidelines override the need for significant coverage in reliable sources? GB fan 02:17, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
I didn't answer the question you asked. Everything I have ever nominated at AFD is because it did not in my estimation meet WP:Notability. If you feel my nominations might be flawed, you can go back through my contributions and evaluate them and ask for WP:Deletion review on any you want. GB fan 10:42, 20 February 2014 (UTC)

It was deleted for the same reasons it was deleted when you created under the account Isaackdamian. There is no credible claim to significance and the article is written like an advertisement, trying to promote him. If you feel he meets our notability guidelines the best way to proceed is to create a draft and then when you think it is ready you can ask for it to be reviewed. Also limit yourself to one account instead of two. You can create the draft in your userspace such as User:Clifforddenis/Isaack Damian. Also before creating the draft, you should read Wikipedia:Your first article. GB fan 14:35, 1 March 2014 (UTC)

There is no claim to significance in the article. You said he was well known for small roles, but none of the linked articles mention him at all. I have also looked for sources to support an article. I could not find any reliable sources that discuss Ladell Parks AKA Jeremy Ladell Murph. I will not undelete the article. GB fan 12:05, 2 March 2014 (UTC)

Discussion on the deletion of Christopher Nixon, a wikia page for a real life person.

Please could you inform me of what I should improve upon my wiki article for Christopher Nixon. Also please read this guideline, because you are not following it. "Users nominating a page for speedy deletion should specify which criterion/criteria the page meets, and should notify the page creator and any major contributors." -Wikipedia, [[1]]

You were informed all three times that the article was deleted under what criteria it was nominated, but since I never nominated it for deletion, the part of the policy you quote above does not apply to me. Another editor nominated the article for deletion and I performed one of the three deletions. You should read your talk page and if you have any specific questions let me or one of the editors that nominated the article for deletion know what you don't understand. Your recent move of Hüseyin Yıldırım (spy)

Hi! Please note that your move of "Hüseyin Yıldırım (spy)" to "Hüseyin Yıldırım" was not necessary and is wrong. I had explained the problem in the talk page of "Hüseyin Yıldırım" after it was tagged for "speedy deletion". Once again, there are a great number of links existing for "Hüseyin Yıldırım", who in this case is, I guess, a Kurdish militan, who has nothing to do with the man, who is a spy. As it is cumbersome to change all the wikilinks of the Kurdish man linking to the spy article, I had to name it "Hüseyin Yıldırım (spy)". Is there anything not correct? If your move remains as it is, wrong links would confuse the reader. --CeeGee 11:20, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

I made a change to a template that was transcluded across the articles. That should fix the problem of those articles linking to this article. It might take a few hours for the Pages that link here to update. We do not normally disambiguate a page name when there is no other article with the same name. GB fan 11:49, 3 March 2014 (UTC)
CeeGee, all the inappropriate links to the article have been fixed with the one edit I made to that template, any other concerns with my move? GB fan 12:20, 3 March 2014 (UTC)
Not a good solution, but OK. --CeeGee 12:25, 3 March 2014 (UTC)
Can you explain what is not good about the solution? I have also raised the question of the template I changed as to whether the name even belongs there at WP:BLPN. GB fan 14:31, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

Hay Day

Hello GB fan,

I have worked to make the page for Hay Day, because this is a very popular game (around 28 milions people shown in game - it can be checked here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.supercell.hayday - Number of Installs). A lot of my friends play this game and I think it will become even more popular. I have worked for an hour to edit this page on wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hay_Day Please undelete it because I think it has useful information. I want to write more articles but this is my first.

Thank you!

FORCAM Shop Floor Management

Hello GB Fan,

I was hoping to get more specific details on why you deleted the FORCAM page on April 1st of 2013? Can it be undeleted upon my request? If there are changes needed before it can be reinstated, please let me know and I can make them. We are a young company and would love to have a page up.

Thanks for your help,

The article was purely a promotional piece for the company. It was entirely sourced to the companies website and obviously written by someone associated with the company. Any article would have to be supported by reliable sources that are independent of your company. If you have a conflict of interest you should not be creating the article, you should wait for someone else to write the article. GB fan 18:16, 5 March 2014 (UTC)

Burmese-Siamese War redirects

I can't understand why you don't allow to delete this a series of self-redirects. Most of the links are from Burmese–Siamese wars article, and if you click on them, they redirect back to the article itself. I don't think that sock spent as much time in creating them as I am for clearing. He simply clicked on a series of red link and copy-pasted redirect template. All we have now is a lot of confusion. Specific war articles have nothing to do with the general list. It is like World War II redirects to List of wars by death toll. Anyway, if you are not deleting them, it's okay. We shouldn't spend much time on it as the troll also didn't. I'm getting sick of vandals on these Burmese-Siamese wars articles as well as Wikipedia. SWH® talk 23:13, 18 March 2014 (UTC)

I didn't delete them because they do not fall into any of the speedy deletion criteria. G5 only applies to articles that are created in violation of a block or a ban. The editor created them and then was blocked, there is no evidence that I was able to find that says the editor was a returning previously blocked/banned editor. For the redirect criteria to apply they have to be recently created, and they weren't. GB fan 23:25, 18 March 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for denying the speedy deletion of the page JellyRoll. Unfortunately the same user who marked it for speedy deletion has now marked it for deletion a second time. Only difference is that this time its not for speedy deletion. Is there any way you can help? He says it is because it does not meet the WP:MUSICBIO standard, which it actually does. The WP:MUSICBIO article says that one of the criteria is that it made a countrys music chart, and JellyRoll has had atleast 3 albums on differnet charts. I can see why you reverted my edits. If you read the video description, you'll notice that they ARE taken at D&B. Daveandbusters1345 (talk) 14:11, 22 March 2014 (UTC)

It doesn't make any difference where they are taken. What makes a difference is the content. The content of the videos shows nothing other than ceiling fans and provides no context to understand Dave and Busters. The videos are not helpful to the article. GB fan 14:17, 22 March 2014 (UTC)

It DOES show what an enterance of 19th hole looks like, what arcade bar looks like, what ceiling of billiard ares looks like, etc. Daveandbusters1345 (talk) 14:20, 22 March 2014 (UTC)

No you were discussing edits to other pages. You were not discussing how to improve The Needle Drop. If you have a problem with another page go to that article's talk page and discuss how to improve that page. If you have concerns with the edits of a specific editor over multiple pages then go to that editor's talk page and discuss it. Also you were attacking another editor, do not do that. Adam Faigen

Hi GB fan, please explain to me why the page Adam Faigen keeps being deleted while it is still being edited. There is still more information that needs to be included and I would like to know what the problem is/what I am doing wrong so that it can be avoided. Happy to follow all applicable rules. Afaigen 16:30 est, 4/3/14

You are creating an article that has no claim to significance. Based on your username you appear to have a conflict of interest. Someone should not be creating or editing articles where they have a conflict of interest. The sources you are using on the article are not reliable. Personal websites are not reliable sources, neither is a link to a a site selling a book. What you need are sources that are independent of the subject of the article. You should read a few things, Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide, Wikipedia:Your first article, Wikipedia:Notability, Wikipedia:Notability (people), Wikipedia:Notability (music). If after reading all those things, you still feel Adam Faigen should have an article, I would suggest you create it using the Wikipedia:Articles for creation process where you can work on it and experienced editors will evaluate it to ensure it meets Wikipedia guidelines and policies. If you have any further questions let me know. GB fan 22:30, 3 April 2014 (UTC)
Hi GB fan

Some of my notable claims to significance include having 3 albums out on iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, etc. etc. and have a 4th on the way, I have one of my songs licensed to be in a video game, being quoted in a couple (non-wiki) articles, soon to be in a different authors' book, being an author myself, among other examples. Regardless you are correct that it is a conflict of interest; I didn't realize that it is generally expected that someone other than the articles' subject be its author, but that makes sense and I am happy to have someone else write it. I would like to make an appeal to have the article restored; I will not write a sentence of it and I will immediately delete anything there currently. Thanks for your assistance in this matter. Sincerely, Afaigen 00:06, 4 April 2014 (UTC)

Did you read the notability guidelines I linked to, specifically Wikipedia:Notability (music)? There are 12 criteria in the first section that specifically talk about musicians. Can you tell me which of those you meet? GB fan 00:19, 4 April 2014 (UTC)
Hello again GB fan,

Yes I did read the page; I meet criterion 7 currently (am the originator of this type of New age instrumental music), I possibly meet criterion 1 currently as well but I am not sure exactly what constitutes a "non-trivial" published work, and I believe I soon will meet criterion 10 if a popular video game company counts as a work of media that is notable (My song Summer is going to be in a video game in the works by Matsuko; a very well known tech company which made Assassin's Creed I, Assassin's Creed II, James Cameron's Avatar: The Game, Far Cry 2, and Far Cry 3 among others). Thanks for your quick responses in this matter; I greatly appreciate the professionalism. Sincerely, Afaigen 0:53 4 April 2014 (UTC)

Can you provide a reliable source that discusses that you are the originator of this type of New age instrumental music so your claim can be verified? Since the music is not currently in a video game #10 is not met, but it may in the future if it is verifiable. Non-trivial published work is some discussion of you in reliable sources. The discussion can not just be that you are mentioned it basically must be about you. The source also has to be independent, that means it can't be written by you or someone you are closely associated with like an agent or a PR firm. GB fan 01:32, 4 April 2014 (UTC)
Hey GB fan,

I don't know of any sources that specifically discuss my music being the originator of my genre, but the proof is in the music; and the articles that do mention my music include information about other musicians as well or just mention me and aren't specifically about my music and nothing else. So that leaves #10 which apparently the contract for the license is being sent to my music managers later this week, and the game is set to be released next month. So I propose we wait until I have more information prepared and/or the game is released to continue this discussion. Thanks again for your support, and I wish you good luck in all your endeavors! Sincerely, Afaigen 2:32 April 2014 (UTC)

If you find reliable sources that discuss you, let me know. GB fan 02:40, 4 April 2014 (UTC)

Your warnings

Your warnings carry no useful information or purpose. They are simply templates that just threaten people. They don't solve a problem or suggest a solution. You apparently didn't bother to look at the sitution. And because of all that I suggest you either get involved and solve it or stay our of it and let those who care take care of it. NOTHING damages the Wikipedia community more than administrators running around slapping warning templates on people's pages. Le Grand Bleu (talk) 11:52, 1 April 2014 (UTC)

Well I could have stopped it by blocking both of you. You both need to talk about it and quit reverting each other. You could have just as easily started a discussion about the content as the other editor. GB fan 11:56, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
I'm NOT edit warring. Your warning is misplaced. I'm simply not allowing the warring editor to push his edits. Consider this a warning to you for Incivility in the form of ill-considered accusations of impropriety. If you don't know how to be an administrator on Wikipedia and solve problems effectively, resign. Le Grand Bleu (talk) 13:21, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
It takes two to edit war. A single person can not edit war. If you think my warnings are inappropriate you are free to ask any other administrator or request a review at WP:AN. GB fan 14:07, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
I just saw you blocked her. Could you also revert the edit please until proper discussion on the talk page? Le Grand Bleu (talk) 02:52, 2 April 2014 (UTC)
I am not participating in the edit war that I warned the two of you about and blocked the other participant about. There has been zero discussion of these facts on the article's talk page. No one has ever addressed the concerns raised about this information. GB fan 13:22, 2 April 2014 (UTC)
Nobody asks you to participate. Sourced information was deleted. The user started edit war and was blocked. Isn't it customary to also revert his edit that he or she was banned for? I don't see ANY logic in your actions so far. Le Grand Bleu (talk) 02:58, 4 April 2014 (UTC)

I deleted under speedy deletion criterion A7 because it did not make any claim to significance. It basically said it was a website that had mobile and web versions and said how many users. That is not enough to have an article in Wikipedia. I would suggest reading Wikipedia:Your first article. That page describes how to make your article and what you need to have in the article so that it stays. If you have any questions please ask. GB fan 14:50, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

Since when was Llanwern in Scotland, might I suggest looking at some geography books and you'll find that it is in Wales as is this articles content. This making it insignificant right enough.

Dark metal article

Your edit on the dark metal article is absolute nonesense. Megadeth, Judas Priest Black Sabbath etc. are not dark metal bands. Burke's Peerage Foundation

Dear GB fan,

Before I proceed with my question (lest you think I am being underhand with you) - I am being investigated as a "sockpuppet". I mention this NOT to gain some sympathy vote OR enlist your aid BUT for you to consider my remarks below on their own merit.

I requested to have an article which I created deleted (Burke's Peerage Foundation) using code Db-g7. I assume that was the correct way to do it. However, I noticed that it was reversed by yourself. I could not establish notability, so another user decided to add the redirect. As it is not an alternative name for Burke's Peerage, I would question the redirect. Indeed, I would prefer to keep the article, but if the community feels so strongly about notability, I will relent (in this instance) and agree that notability has not been sufficiently established. Perhaps at some future date when more information is available, I (or indeed another user) can recreate the article. Again, keep or delete, but the redirect I believe is somewhat misleading. Therefore, please reconsider my removal of the redirect - and indeed my request to delete the article.

Thank you.

Kind regards,

Ctfn (talk) 17:31, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

WP:G7 only applies to articles that have a single significant contributor. Even without taking in the redirection, you are not the only significant contributor. This means that the speedy deletion criterion does not apply. If you feel it is an inappropriate redirect, you can restore the article and see what happens or you can nominate the redirect for deletion at WP:RFD. GB fan 19:26, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

Bell Gardens page deletion

Hello GB

why did you delete the Bell Gardens (band) page i put up? How is it not relevant to Wikipedia? This is a band that is current with 2 well known musicians who release on well known record labels - what did I do wrong in my post? There are pages for other Stars Of The Lid related bands such as the Winged Victory For The sullen page ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Winged_Victory_for_the_Sullen )... why is that relevant and Bell Gardens page is not? Ok then

Fine I won't attack anyone. I just want to know why my page keeps getting deleted. Dave Antonini (talk) 01:37, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

It keeps getting deleted because it does say anything about why the band is significant. You should read WP:ikipedia:Your first article. You should also read Wikipedia:Notability (music) it discusses how Wikipedia determines if bands are notable. GB fan 01:43, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

So my band's not notable? Try telling that all my loyal fans and adoring groupies. Dave Antonini (talk) 01:46, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

User talk page blanking

As I understand it, this user blanking their entire talk page goes against WP:REMOVED - editors specifically aren't allowed to remove "declined unblock requests regarding a currently active block" from their own talk page, presumably to stop people from wasting too much admin time by repeatedly deleting and reposting weak, failed requests. The editor is welcome to delete the surrounding discussion, but the declined requests should stay until the block is lifted. --McGeddon (talk) 17:39, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

I understand what the rule says. I also know there is possibly more going on here and we are not hurting anything by having that page blanked. Two admins have indicated that it is ok for the page to be blanked. Please leave it blanked. GB fan 18:40, 18 April 2014 (UTC)
The other admin also thought it was okay to change the user's talk page template from "considering retirement" to "retired", which I don't understand, but sure, I'll leave it blanked if you think the benefit outweighs the potential confusion. --McGeddon (talk) 18:52, 18 April 2014 (UTC)
Yes I do think the benefit outweighs the potential confusion. Thank you for leaving the page as is. 44robby left the retired banner up when they reverted this last time, so we can accept that they consider themselves retired. GB fan 21:08, 18 April 2014 (UTC)
The dust has settled now, but it looks as if 44robby later asked (I assume off-wiki) "why did you change it to retired?" because he "didn't understand" why he had apparently been forcibly retired for blanking his own talk page. Proactively "retiring" a blocked user (who still has every right to appeal the block) with no explanation just seems inappropriately confusing for everyone else. Admins can block users and lock talk pages, but a retirement template always means that "this user has voluntarily chosen to retire", doesn't it? --McGeddon (talk) 17:45, 19 April 2014 (UTC)
Then you should talk to the person who changed that, not me. GB fan 00:34, 20 April 2014 (UTC)
I did: the admin told me to "stop fussing", claimed that 44robby had somehow "insisted" on it, and ignored my request to change it back for clarity's sake. 44robby clearly hadn't "insisted" on anything, as he posted the next day asking why the retirement template was there. I was just hoping for a second opinion on whether this was an unhelpful and against-policy thing for an admin to have done.
If we have an admin who mistakenly thinks that "indefinite" means "permanent", that an indefinite block equals "forced retirement" and that it's therefore helpful to paste up "this user has voluntarily retired" banners on talk pages of indef-blocked users (was the decision for an "enough of this crap" talk page protection from User:Ohnoitsjamie affected by the fact that the talk page apparently said "I have retired and am no longer active, but I still want to complain about another editor"?), then I think that admin's understanding of blocking and retiring needs to be corrected. --McGeddon (talk) 10:24, 20 April 2014 (UTC)
I felt that page-protection and the "indefblock" template was a simple solution to the issue so we could all stop wasting time with it. The user had a pretty entrenched case of WP:IDIDNTHEARTHAT, so entertaining further unblock requests was pointless. OhNoitsJamie Talk 15:14, 20 April 2014 (UTC)

"decline speedy delete, none of the speedy delete criteria listed apply to this article, please consider listing at WP:AFD if you feel it is not notable" None of the criteria applies? If you read them you'd figure that they full well apply. However, I've marked it AfD as you suggested. Although in my view it's horrible this kind of racism (on an entire culture) isn't reason enough for a speedy deletion alone. Ryohka (talkcontribs) 05:31, 2 May 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion criteria are very stringent and for articles to be deleted under them they must meet those specific criteria. If the criteria do not fit completely then they can not be used to delete the article. You marked the article with three different criteria.
WP:G1 In you nomination for G1 you wrote: "Patent nonsense: implausible theories, fictional material, coherent non-English material" If you read the criterion, those things are specifically excluded. The last sentence of the criterion says This criterion says: "In short, if you can understand it, G1 does not apply." Based on your comments about the article you can understand the article, so this criterion does not apply.
WP:G10 You wote: "article suggests Koreans alone would ingest fecals (?)" The article does not suggest that Koreans alone would ingest fecals, it discusses that this has a long history in China and Korea. Then on User talk:Phoenix7777 you wrote: "I hope you notice it is close to racism" If something is close to racism that does not mean that the article was written purely to harrass Koreans.
WP:A11 For A11 to apply it must be obvious from the information in the article that the person who wrote the article either made up the subject of the article or they personally know the person who made it up. Since the article claims this has been done for over 1000 years, the person who wrote could not have been the person who came up with the idea, nor could they have known the person who did.
Humans have done lots of things in the name of medicine over the last couple of millenium that today we can't beleive it would even be tried. Reporting on those things is not racism or attacks. Is this true, I don't know but it had enough that I believe the proper course of action is to have a discussion to see what others know. GB fan 09:52, 2 May 2014 (UTC)

I moved the following two comments out of my comments above. General comments: You tried to invoke speedy deletion criteria. The speedy deletion process is for articles that unambiguously meet the strict criteria laid out. If the article does not meet those strict criteria admins should not delete the article, because the community has stated we can only delete them if the meet them. GB fan 12:55, 4 May 2014 (UTC)

  • WP:G10
    • Even if it isn't purely written to harass Koreans, it's existence is based on harassment (try to refute that properly). This fulfills WP:G10 very well. Ryo «message me» 12:30, 4 May 2014 (UTC)
      • I can not refute that the original concept is based on harassment. That isn't what the speedy deletion criterion is about. The speedy deletion criterion is about an article whose mearly existence is nothing but disparagement or harrasment of the subject. If there was an article that said that Koreans eat feces then that would qualify under WP:G10, but in this case the article describes what appears to be an historical medical treatment that has been written about by other people. GB fan 12:55, 4 May 2014 (UTC)
        • As the resources are doubted in the AfD proposal and they have previously been doubted in the original page's talk by independent people. Considering most/all resources are made up, or certainly not Korean. The original page says "Ttongsul, or feces wine, is a Korean traditional medicinal preparation made from feces, particularly that of humans". Correct me if I'm wrong, indicates that Koreans did or are creating/ingesting feces wine, aside from its inexistence. The only remotely "real" record indicating such was a Chinese book, Chinese medicine respectively. But as I previously said, it is pointless to discuss whether a WP:G10 is given or not, if the admin thinks it isn't. You have the upper hand, mate :) Ryo «message me» 13:36, 4 May 2014 (UTC)
  • WP:A11
    • it sadly isn't obvious to people viewing it from afar, that's why I'm trying to point out. However, if you have the slightest clue about east Asian history records you'd know what kind of a deep rooted conflict exists. As I've written on Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Ttongsul, I can't change the fact that you do not see a fulfillment of any of the stated speedy deletion criteria. So we'll just pull through with the AfD proposal :( ...you may delete this section after you read this if you want to! And no I haven't seen this until I read your explanation on the AfD project page, since I haven't received a mention alert. Ryo «message me» 12:30, 4 May 2014 (UTC)
      • If it isn't obviously made up by the original author or someone they know then the article can not be deleted under A11 as that is the strict rule for this criterion. Ryohka, I don't usually ping someone when I respond to a conversation they started on my talk page. I believe if they want to see my response they will either watchlist my talk page or check back to see if I answered. GB fan 12:55, 4 May 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of articles about novels

The page inquestion is: Gudarnas föda - den som dödar

Is there no way to delete an article about a novel that isn't notable? The author doesn't even have a page and the only reference is a personal website. I have seen other pages regarding novels be merged into the author's page due to lack of notability. In this case, however, there is no author page. Furthermore, the book title isn't in English and the source isn't in English either. I'm pretty sure that the novel isn't as well. Regarding a page which has been deleted - Supporting notes

It is regarding https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sophie_rose

Reason, why I think this page should reside on Wikipedia: It is about a celebrity child artist

Regarding same content, as the content updated on this page is a bio of a child artist. Normally, the bio of any person will be same and it is quite natural that the details can reside on various internet avenues.

Look forward for your reply. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sophierosemusic (talkcontribs) 12:35, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

There were three problems with the article. The first and primary concern is the copying of text from a source to Wikipedia. Any material that is copied into Wikipedia from another location must have a free license to the material. The information in the article Sophie rose was a direct copy of the information at another website. There is no indication on that website that the information has a license that is compatible with the license here on Wikipedia.
The next problem is that the article was written like an advertisement for her. Phrases like "With perfect pitch, Sophie has been singing almost as long as she’s been talking" and "Sophie is equally excited to hear other stars record her songs!" are a clear indication that the article was meant to promote her.
The third problem is that the article did not give any indication what is significant about her. It said she was born, learned to sing, play guitar, has written over 50 songs and works with charities. What is significant about her, that many other new artists haven't done also. Have any reliable sources written about her? Has she been noticed and discussed by industry magazines, websites, etc.? Have any of her songs charted? You should look at the notability guideline for musicians, WP:MUSICBIO.
Based on your username you appear to have a conflict of interest. While editing an article where you have a conflict of interest is technically allowed, it is highly discouraged because it is extremely hard for someone with a conflict of interest to write a neutral article. There are a couple of problems here. First, you, your publisher, your son nor your nephew should be editing an article about you. All of you have a conflict of interest and editing where you have a conflict of interest is highly discouraged. Next, from the way you wrote your response above it appears that your publisher, son and nephew are sharing one account, Fshahar. That is not allowed, each person must have their own account. I would suggest you use the articles for creation process. Then an experienced editor will review the article to see if it meets our inclusion guideline before putting it in the mainspace. A couple of other things you should read before starting the article, Wikipedia:Your first article, Help:Referencing for beginners and Wikipedia:Notability (people). GB fan 00:17, 23 June 2014 (UTC)

In my first response above, I told you who created the article, "The article, Sidney Friedfertig, was created 22:47, 9 April 2014 by Fshahar." That is why, when you said the article was created by your publisher, I thought they were using that account also. GB fan 00:46, 23 June 2014 (UTC)

I never said it wasn't an acceptable criterion to delete it, I said it was not a valid speedy deletion criterion. You requested it be deleted under speedy deletion. Speedy deletion is a way of deleting pages that require no discussion. The community has approved specific criterion that admins can use to delete pages. The page up for deletion must fall into one of those specific narrow criterion. In this case, the reason you gave is not one of those specific criterion. The closest one would be WP:A10, but it fails that one since the article wasn't recently created. You can still nominate it using WP:PROD with the reason you gave and it will be deleted in 7 days unless someone objects. GB fan 10:51, 23 June 2014 (UTC)

Regarding removal of MediaWiki Hackathon IITB 2014

Hi as per the norm mentioned in Article "with the exception of educational institutions" I would like to mention this event is being organized at Indian Institute Of Technology Bombay,IITB Mumbai for the students. As this page was not fully loaded with the content before the filling all the details it was deleted, may I know which policies was violated and what can be done to restore the page? - Harish satpute (talk)

An article about an educational institution is ineligible for deletion under WP:A7. Since this was an article about an event and not an article about the institutional event that is putting on the event, the exclusion does not apply. I deleted the page because what was there did not make any claim to significance. The article said it was going to happen and gave a schedule for the event. Then editors were signing the article saying they were going to come to the event. For an article to be created you would need to show that reliable sources have noticed the event and have provided significant coverage. Even then most of the information that was on the page I deleted would not be acceptable. We would not publish the schedule unless the reliable sources actually discuss the schedule and it is the subject of commentary. The same goes for the list of editors that are attending the event. Without those two things the only thing left is that the event will happen and where, nothing that says the event is significant. GB fan 15:31, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
Well this is my first time posting an article about an event didn't know that it required 'any claim to significance' but before I could add the details of who is going it represent from Wikipedia community for this event the page was removed so I would like to request that this page should be restored so that significant details can be added.- Harish satpute (talk) 03:59, 29 June 2014 (UTC)
I will not restore the article. There is nothing really to restore. Most of the page does not belong in an encyclopedia article. The schedule of events and the list of signatures of editors that will be attending do not belong. That leaves the facts when and where it will happen plus the purpose of the event. Before I would even consider possibly restoring anything you would need to show me that the event has had significant coverage in reliable sources. GB fan 10:48, 29 June 2014 (UTC)

WNOW-FM

Hello, I ask you to help me with a big problem. WNOU accidentally moved to User:WNOW-FM and User:WNOU, when I really wanted to move to Article WNOW-FM. You could do it? Thank you! --Mega-buses (discusión / Talk) 19:08, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

Right now I have moved it back to WNOU. I do not understand why you want it moved to WNOW-FM. The article does not use the call sign WNOW anywhere within the article. You will need to explain why it should be moved to that new name. GB fan 19:15, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
The call sign changed today to WNOW-FM (in the page of the FCC) http://licensing.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws.exe/prod/cdbs/pubacc/prod/sta_list.pl?Facility_id=6420 --Mega-buses (discusión / Talk) 19:22, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

Toontown Rewritten

Why have you continued to delete toontown rewritten pages? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.227.71.212 (talk) 19:17, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

It keeps getting deleted and now protected against recreation because the article has never indicated why the game is significant. There have been no reliable sources that discuss the game. The last version said it is a game that is under development and the only sources were links to the game's webpage. If you feel it is notable you can create an draft article using the articles for creation process. Then if it gets approved by an experienced editor, it can be moved to the mainspace. Have an IP address hidden please..?

GB Fan,

I recently had an edit done to Zach LaVine and accidentally logged out. The edit was as follows: 19:17, 4 July 2014‎ 24.25.***.*** (talk)‎ . . (8,514 bytes) (0)‎ . . (http://www.nba.com/draft/2014/prospects/zach_lavine?ls=iref:nba:draft:tracker (This is NBA.com's draft profile, stats STRAIGHT from the combine.) It is on NBA.com and lists him as 6'6" 181. Once again NBA.com stats right here.) (undo) (Tag: changing height and/or weight). I was wondering if you could either hide the IP address for privacy purposes or replace it w my log in name TheBoss2008. It is greatly appreciated!

Hi, Wikipedia's policies regarding band pages may be a bit too strict. I frequently look up info on artists and bands and I wanted to look up this band called "Magic Man," which apparently had a page that has been deleted more than once. I keep hearing their hit song "Paris," on 94.7 FM in Sacramento (where I attend school) and wanted to look up some info about them. I was disappointed that Wikipedia had an article that has since been deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.53.79.95 (talk) 23:27, 4 July 2014 (UTC)

If you have a problem with the notability guidelines for bands, you should discuss it at Wikipedia talk:Notability (music). If the problem is with the Speedy deletion criterion, you should discuss it at Wikipedia talk:Criteria for speedy deletion. GB fan 23:25, 7 July 2014 (UTC)
New editor here. I wasn't familiar with this band before tonight, but I'm working on a personal project related to music charts and noticed that the single mentioned by the above user has placed on at least one national chart. My understanding is that the page should meet the notability criteria with that information included, and I'd be happy to add it and resubmit. Might you be able to provide me with the original text? Thanks, Raffishtenant (talk) 08:19, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
I have restored the latest version of the article and moved it to Draft:Magic Man (band). You can work on it there. Please have an experienced editor look at it before moving it back to the mainspace. GB fan 11:07, 10 July 2014 (UTC)

You have not explained what Gati123 has done that they should be blocked to protect the encyclopedia. Remember, blocks are used to protect the encyclopedia not to punish editors. GB fan 01:00, 14 July 2014 (UTC)

Suggest blocking of User:Ajysharmag

With reference to your deletion of the userpage User:Ajysharmag , i would suggest to block this user as well as the person had inexcusably advertised shady business[Pimping] banned in the country .

I do not see a reason to block at this point. I will monitor to see if it continues. I am not sure what more you need to know about how to deal with this kind of situation, tag for speedy deletion and possibly raise the issue at a noticeboard, exactly what you did. GB fan 11:54, 15 July 2014 (UTC)
Also, you are required to notify a user if you mention them on a noticeboard. I have notified them of the thread at ANI. GB fan 11:56, 15 July 2014 (UTC)

Removal of page Travelista

Hello,

I am a new user and was in the process of creating the page 'Travelista'. It has no previous pages. I was not finished creating this page to ensure that it was within the confines of Wikipedia guidelines. I am not affiliated with the brand, founders, or website but am trying to create a page on it. How can I retrieve the page so that I may edit and finish the page without citing conflicts of interest or having any other issues. Thank you. TravelistaTeriJohnson (talk) 21:09, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

Before we go any further, are you the Teri Johnson that was talked about in the article you were writing? If you are not, your username is a violation of our username policy as the username gives the impression you are and that would be impersonation which is not allowed. I'm not sure what happened here. The article was BLPprodded 2 days ago. Yesterday I added a reference (at least I thought I did, hard to tell now the article is gone, but there is no shortage of good references to be found) and removed the BLPprod. Someone has since removed the reference, and now it's been speedied? Hang on, but the BLPprod process was only 2-days old. Nfitz (talk) 14:58, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

You are correct, I should not have deleted it as an A7. There is a claim to significance, the BLPPROD must remain until it has a reliable source to verify some of the information. GB fan 15:07, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. I must have forgotten to add a refernce when I removed the BLPprod. Done so now. Nfitz (talk) 15:33, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

Nobody would search on 'Yellow Army' when they wanted Norwich City, it is not their nickname. Their nickname is 'The Canaries'. Bevo74 (talk) 19:21, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

A year and a half after you opposed my RfA

I am inviting you to leave me some feedback, 18 months after you opposed my RfA. Do you still believe I am not fit to be an admin? Do you believe I have been able to improve past the concerns you have brought up? Do not be afraid of being too harsh, I am specifically welcoming criticism as I believe it is the best way to improve and I am always looking to learn from my mistakes. I am particularly looking for feedback as to whether you have objections to myself lifting the self-imposed 1RR restriction I had agreed to towards the end of my RfA. If you don't have time to comment, don't fret it either, this is nothing I'll lose sleep over. :) ☺ · Salvidrim! ·  19:48, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

Because it’s empty and there’s nothing descriptive or informativo in the history. --66.190.99.112 (talk) 20:28, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

That is not a valid reason to speedy delete a userpage. For valid criteria see WP:CSD. GB fan 21:04, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
So why do you people lack a policy against obviously useless user pages? --66.190.99.112 (talk) 00:36, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
Why are you worried about a blank page? GB fan 00:43, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
1. Because it’s considerably misleading; a blue link implies content,
2. Because it’s a waste of bandwidth.
I would like to know why you think that keeping blank pages is a good idea. --66.190.99.112 (talk) 00:49, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) I don't think it's considerably misleading. It's a userpage of someone who hasn't edited since 2008 (and, at the time, made some mildly interesting edits). I can't think of a scenario in which someone was looking for content and was misled by a bluelinked LocoLatino. As far as the bandwidth issue goes, the servers host 20 million pages (right?); one empty page that's been viewed 30 times in the last 3 months, half of which were today, doesn't make too much of a difference. —LucasThoms 01:05, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
A blue link implies that someone has created the page, not content. You wasted more bandwidth by nominating it for deletion than it was using just sitting there. Even if it was deleted it would take up space on the servers as it is still on the servers, nothing is ever completely deleted. Pages are just removed from being publicly accessible. I don't care if the page is there or not, it is not hurting anything. If you feel the page should be deleted you can nominate it using the Miscellany for deletion process. GB fan 01:08, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
Keeping a blank page may be largely inconsequential, but so is deleting it; nothing is lost. Since you’re being aggressive about this, I’ll leave you alone. Keep whatever you want. --66.190.99.112 (talk) 01:14, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
Not being aggressive, just explaining to you the policies/guidelines for deletion of pages. GB fan 01:20, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

Colton Cosmic Comment

The transclusion from Colton's talk page to WP:AN confuses editing. I thought I was posting to WP:AN. Then I made another attempt to move the comments to WP:AN that did not work. Finally it worked. Transclusion is fine for templates, but is confusing for talk pages in talk pages. Robert McClenon (talk) 19:12, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

I saw what happened, it can be very confusing, when you hit edit on the section where Colton's comments are at you end up on his page. GB fan 19:19, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

If it looks good I will unlock the page and move it so that it will become an article. GB fan 14:54, 10 July 2014 (UTC)

Article about Professor Mohammad Amin

Hi mate, I tried to create an article on Professor Mohammad Amin, noted Indian historian and 2010 Padma Bhushan winner[6], but got stuck here [7]. There were mentions there, about the notability of the subject and I am not sure if it is the same Mohammad Amin. As Professor Amin's notability is reasonably established by winning the third highest Indian civilian award, Padma Bhushan, I would request your advice on this. The article I have created is in my sandbox[8]; it needs final touches, but please have a look. Thanks for your time. --jojo@nthony (talk) 15:43, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

Trafalgar High School/ Your posts have nothing to do with the main page so they are inappropriate and will be removed. GB fan 13

I do not believe the word “defiantly” should be used. A better word would be “refused” or something of that nature as the word defiantly sounds like something from a novel. This I believe is an online dictionary which should NOT be full of passion and flowery words but concise to the point and most importantly completely adjective regardless of the subject matter. This I have to say is sadly missing from Wikipedia. Why not leave my post and let others talk and debated rather than make a unilateral decision as there was nothing in my other posts that where in anyway offensive it is after all a community. Isn’t it??????? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.42.14.53 (talk) 13:55, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

Jameela Malik

Why you have reverted my edits on article Jameela Malik. It had sources which were unreliable.  ????? --Owais khursheed (talk) 16:23, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

The reliability of sources is not something that is determined during a review of a speedy deletion tag. The criteria for speedy deletion is very narrow and having sources on the article that are not reliable is not one of the speedy deletion criterion. If you feel the article should be deleted you have three options. If the article fits into one of the speedy deletion criteria you can retag it with the appropriate tag. If it does not fit into any of the criteria you can either use the proposed deletion process. Using this process has advantages and disadvantages. It is simple, there is no discussion, if the tag stays on the article for 7 days it will be deleted but if it is removed then it can never be added back and then the only option left is the Articles for Deletion process. This is a little harder to implement because you have to create a page with your rationale explaining why it should be deleted. Then after at least 7 days an admin will read the discussion and determine if there is a consensus to delete the article. GB fan 16:35, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
