Some keeps changing the numbers on the Punjabis page

There are 80.5 million Punjabis in Pakistan according to the 2017 Pakistan Census. Someone has changed that to 108 million.

They have also changed the number for Punjabis in India.

This has been happening constantly. Please fix it. MT111222 (talk) 15:02, 9 May 2022 (UTC)

@MT111222: Yeah, I saw that. Called some experienced editors to look into the matter. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 16:11, 9 May 2022 (UTC)

Alternative name

Karan Aujla is not nickname, it came out as alternative from Jaskaran singh Aujla. As per Mos:nickname see examples Tim Allen. There are more examples of Anne-Marrie, 2pac and Kanye West. Daredevil5911 (talk) 05:35, 11 May 2022 (UTC)

@Daredevil5911: You are getting it wrong again. Check MOS:NICKNAME, Karan Aujla is just a hypocorism/diminutive form of Jaskaran Aujla since Karan is part of the name. Typically, I would have left Jaskaran Aujla in the lead without mentioning any Karan it it like "Jaskaran Singh Aujla (born 18 January 1997) is an Indian singer...." and I've done that before in the article, but since per MOS:HYPOCORISM only English-language names are done like (see discussions at Talk:Nagendra Babu}, the Karan part should be added as nickname with quotes per guidelines. Your examples are not in line with 'alternative name'. Timothy Alan Dick is not the same as TIm Allen since Dick is his real last name, but the last name in his stagename is Allen, which is not the same as Alan or Dick. Anne-Marie has her full name spelled out Anne-Marie Rose Nicholson, without anything alternative name like better known as Anne-Amrie. For Kanye West, Ye is his legal name, so "commonly known as Kanye West" is to be mentioned which is different that Ye. Consider the cases of Tiger Shroff, Nagendra Babu, which are similar to Karan Aujla. If you have querries, discuss in the talk page and gain WP:CONSENSUS. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 06:34, 11 May 2022 (UTC)

The data for "Ethnic groups" on the Pakistan page is outdated

It says that Punjabis are 44.7% of the Pakistan Population but that is outdated information from the 1998 census.

According to the most recent (2017 Census), Punjabis are 38.78% of the population.

The CIA factbook's data is outdated as it is from the 1998 census and not from the most recent 2017 census.

It also says that Pashtuns are 15.4% of the population but that is according to the 1998 census. According to the 2017 Census, they are now 18.24% of the population. So this data is outdated too.

Please update the “Ethnic groups” part of the “Pakistan” page using the updated statistics from the 2017 Census.

These are the official figures:

Population by ethnic group: www.pbs.gov.pk/sites/default/files//population_census/census_2017_tables/pakistan/Table11n.pdf

Population by ethnic group (percentage): https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Languages_of_Pakistan

The map on the page above shows the most recent percentages according to the 2017 census.

I made a request on the "Pakistan" talk page as well. MT111222 (talk) 13:28, 12 May 2022 (UTC)

Help me

How I know you - You had thanked me when I had edited Sharad Yadav article. Being an experienced editor specially with genetics and India, need your guidance and help on this article Dr S Prakash Tiwari — Preceding unsigned comment added by Proton Dental (talkcontribs) 20:42, 17 May 2022 (UTC)

@Proton Dental: Hi, what kind of help you want? - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 09:09, 18 May 2022 (UTC)
I'm new to Wikipedia editing, its a very genuine case, like one of the comments from Espresso Addict mentioned " Deputy Director General of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, director of National Academy of Agricultural Research Management chair of National Biodiversity Authority and perhaps particularly vice chancellor of Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University all suggest notability. He is also a fellow of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, which might be enough to meet WP:PROF. Espresso Addict "
How do we remove this article from Afd in a the correct and ethical manner. Just need guidance. There are so many confusing articles and information. Proton Dental (talk) 09:51, 18 May 2022 (UTC)
Wait for the AfD to be over, which will take some time. If the number of people opting for deletion is more that the ones trying to keep it, then it will be deleted, provided that the reasons given are according to Wikipedia policies. I'll go throng the article and see if they meet WP:PROF. Fylindfotberserk (talk) 09:57, 18 May 2022 (UTC)

Soundik caste

Hi so you have agreed that you will consider to delete the varna of soundik as it’s very wrong info . Since I am not very much proficient could you please edit it. Also if you see talk age more than 15 topic is to remove the incorrect info Dalit as because of one publisher it’s creating Chaos.

"Sunri" is a small and miniscule section within broad Shoundik Community, assigned SC status in West Bengal and present only in West Bengal, the reasons and factors behind is more of a local, political and socio-economic one in nature , rather than a historical one. It can't be generalised and get applied on all India basis across North to South. Again, Shoundik is not a caste , as is generally understood to be, but a Community comprising many castes and Sub-castes within its fold. The list of these sub-castes is very long. And would not be proper altogether to discuss here. Interested persons may search for appropriate references and sources. JockerEdit (talk) 20:02, 18 May 2022 (UTC)
@JockerEdit: You are confusing Dalit - a varna, with SC - a classification by govt. They largely overlap but are not the same. Just as you said above about the SC categorisation of Shoundik in WB to be "local, political and socio-economic" one, the same applies to the "OBC" categorisation of Shoundhik in other states. OBC is not a historical, social term or a varna, it is a political/government given term. As for the use of the term Dalit in the infobox, I don't mind it to get removed from it since varnas in infobox causes problems in other caste articles. As for the scholarly sourced content in the article itself, WP:CONSENSUS is to be obtained in the talk page. As I have explained, it can be kept with proper attribution, that is mentioning the name of the scholar who has identified the community as such. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 09:15, 19 May 2022 (UTC)

Okay atleast please remove it from info box 😊 JockerEdit (talk) 19:38, 19 May 2022 (UTC)

@JockerEdit: I'm OK with its removal from the infobox. Go ahead. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 20:11, 19 May 2022 (UTC)

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Ahmed Johnson, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Auburn.

Ethnic POVPUSH

Hi, great to see you back after your wikibreak :D. I believe you are already watching Satyajit Ray, other related articles also seem to be under constant disruptions; can you please keep an eye on Radhabinod Pal, Jibanananda Das, and Allauddin Khan as well. Thanks. Gotitbro (talk) 22:04, 28 May 2022 (UTC)

@Gotitbro: Satyajit Ray is in my watchlist, but since I've trimmed by watchlist to one-fourth recently, many are gone. I'll keep an eye on these three as well. Thanks. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 09:21, 29 May 2022 (UTC)
