Math

I actually know nothing of the math symbols they use...butlooking at the "insert" section below the editing box, I note that there are a number of symbols available, including this one (which is the first one you can click on): – I have a feeling that it might be what you are looking for, there is also this...a little further down the top row: −. Generalized Verma module

Thanks for an interesting article about GVM! In the article by Lepowsky it seems that the Lie algebra should be over the complex numbers (or field of characteristic zero). I guess the results about honomorpisms are valid in this setting. Is this correct? Perhaps it should be added to the article.

No time to say more, but: Saying that H1(X; Z) is the same as pi 1(X) = maps to S1 is the same as saying that S1 is a K(Z,1), an Eilenberg–MacLane space, which can be shown by the long exact sequence of a fibration applied to the fibration Z -->R-->S1 . Explicitly, you just pull back a generator of H1(S1,Z) by the map X-->S1 an element of the cohomotopy group, to get an element of H1(X,Z) - that's the map from pi1 to H1.John Z (talk) 21:35, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello.

Please note that I have moved Region (Analysis) to Region (mathematical analysis). There were two problems with the title:

  • The initial "a" was incorrectly capitalized, in violation of WP:MOS;
  • The word "analysis" has many meanings in many fields other than mathematics, so the title fails to identify the topic as mathematics.

I'm afraid that this never ending dispute will only end when the disturbance on the ground ends. It will only end to some extent then. There is no end all be all on wikipedia, WP:CCC consensus can change. There is a extent after a consensus is achieved thru certain means that it becomes disruptive to try to change the consensus.
