But when I just tried to remove the {{sprotected}} template from the Academy Awards page, it wouldn't let me, saying there was an external link to a blacklisted site in the article. I had a poke, and it turns out that suite101.com is blacklisted. Would it trouble you terribly to find different references for your info? Hello. I replied to several of your posts at the article's talk page: Talk:80th Academy Awards nominees and winners. Hopefully, I have answered your questions there. And, thanks for contributing to the discussions there. However, I do have an important question for you. Please reply at my Talk Page ... located here ----> User Talk:Joseph A. Spadaro ... so that I will be sure not to miss it. I am curious as to why, when you replied to my post, you went in and edited the words of my original posting? That's a big no-no, as far as I know. I had noticed that when you replied to my posts at the Talk Page for the Academy Awards 80th ceremony. I scanned through my own post ... to see exactly the point that I made that you were responding to. (So that I could respond back in an informed way.) So, I went back to review my own original post / my own original words. And I noticed some typo's and some changes / edits and some wording that differed from how I originally submitted the post. When I went in and looked at the edit log, it shows that you went in and edited my words. I was just confused by this ... and was curious why you would do that? As I said, that is a big no-no. Please remember that, after you make edits, the original poster's name is still "signed" to that post. So, it hardly seems fair, right, or even ethical to change someone's words (for reasons good, bad, or indifferent) ... but yet to keep the original signature on the newly edited post. List of Grand Masters of Taekwondo

I recently came across List of Grand Masters of Taekwondo, which you created on 24 June 2009. I think there are tremendous difficulties with trying to produce such an article on Wikipedia, due to: (1) the very political nature of awarding of high ranks in martial art organisations; (2) variation in the criteria for 9th Dan ranking from organisation to organisation; and (3) bearing in mind the first two points, the issue that not all 'grand masters' necessarily hold 9th Dan ranking. Also, as far as I am aware, most Tae Kwon-Do organisations do not even have a 10th Dan rank—which typically indicates a Japanese system rather than a Korean system. Based on all of these points, and the discussion on the article so far, I had been planning to nominate the article for deletion. I do think, however, that it might be possible to revise the article rather than put it under consideration for deletion. If you agree with my criticisms (which are intended to be constructive, but which I appreciate you might not agree with), would you be willing to contribute to revising the article? I agree with your assessment. I began the article when I read about the first woman to receive a 9th dan rank from the kukkiwon. The kukkiwon seemed to me to be solid organization, and I did not anticipate so much trouble when I went looking for a list of practioners with a 9th dan rank. I expected to find quite a short list, actually. I tried to be very careful about the individuals that I listed, and I thought I had created a format that others could follow which included lots of dates for authenticity. The contributors which have followed me have not really followed my format. I'm not at all happy with the current page. I think the project requires original research (which will most likely be conducted in Korean), but if you think the article can be saved, I would love to keep working on it. Thanks for your note. I can now better understand your original aims in creating the article (which I have looked through again). On considering it some more, I think that the List of Grand Masters of Taekwondo article might be less salvageable than I first thought, simply because the scope of the article is going to be large and contentious. At this point, and bearing in mind that I am just one fellow contributor, I might suggest: (1) you could start an article on the 9th Dan lady (since she is what sparked your interest in the first place, and presumably a valuable article could be written about her, as she seems notable); (2) if you would like to transfer some of the information in the List of Grand Masters of Taekwondo to somewhere else (e.g., your own notes on your computer, for later reinsertion into Wikipedia), that you do so; and (3) I nominate the List of Grand Masters of Taekwondo article for deletion (due to numerous issues as noted above, none of which was something either of us has control over). If you are interested in the pioneers of Tae Kwon-Do, you might like to see Original masters of taekwondo, which I created and am working on. Trust these ideas might be of help. Sorry, I forgot to add that while thinking about this article, I did think that it would be interesting and useful to have an article on the pioneers of Tae Kwon-Do in each country. These would be the people (both Korean and non-Korean) who were primarily responsible for introducing the martial art of Tae Kwon-Do across the world. If there could be a workable definition of what constitutes a 'pioneer of Tae Kwon-Do' then I think such an article could be feasible. I like your ideas very much. Here's a question I've been contemplating while reading about the development of taekwondo that might be appropriate for you pioneer article: how did the governments of North and South Korea encourage people to leave Korea and go teach taekwondo all over the world? These people seem to have been sent out as cultural ambassadors or something, and I wonder if the government issue grants or something to help them get started. -ErinHowarth (talk) 19:01, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
I believe the earliest Tae Kwon-Do masters from South Korea would all have gone out to other countries following military orders, and would have been funded by the South Korean government. I am not aware of the North Korean government being involved. Janggeom (talk) 23:55, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

Glee talk pages

Erin, it is really inappropriate for you to be asking questions about what's happening to the characters on their talk pages. That's not what they're there for. If you want to know, the places to look are the individual episode articles for the season so far; if you don't know the titles, check the Glee (season 4) page. A quick summary: Puck's in California, Santana seems to have taken the cheerleading scholarship in Louisville, Mercedes is also in California and Mike's in Chicago and both will appear in episode 5 (airing November 8), Finn shows up in New York after his army adventure, and Tina's a senior at McKinley. To forestall additional questions, Quinn's presumably at Yale and will be appearing even later this fall, Rachel and Kurt are in New York and roomies, and everyone else who was in New Directions still is except for Rory, who has disappeared without a trace or a mention, and may or may not be returning. Yes, it is almost certainly true that he's back in Ireland, but it was strongly implied in that episode that he'd lied about the visa denial to gain Sugar's sympathy and thus become her date. All of the pages where I left messages included story lines for the characters, but no one had added anything about Season 4. As a reader, I feel this is an oversight worth correcting. As an editor, I believe that pointing out such oversights on the talk pages is a most appropriate course of action. -ErinHowarth (talk) 21:22, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
But that isn't what you asked, or even what you pointed out. It was simply, "Where is Puck at the start of Season 4?" If you had directly asked why there weren't any fourth season updates, the matter would have been very different.
The lack of an update wasn't an oversight, but stems from two things: It usually isn't worth updating character articles every couple of episodes, and there aren't nearly as many people working on Glee character articles as there used to be, so editors for these articles are thin on the ground. In the case of Mercedes, Mike, and Finn, there wasn't anything to report at all (storylines only include info from broadcast episodes, not speculation), and Santana had only had a ten-second scene in the very recent second episode. In fact, not much has happened with any of the five graduates you queried. The one McKinley student, Tina, maybe, but only in the first episode. In the second episode she at least gets to sing; in the third she's way in the background. I gather that you're not watching the show? BlueMoonset (talk) 22:25, 28 September 2012 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Pride

You are invited! Wiki Loves Pride

You are invited to participate in Wiki Loves Pride, a global campaign to create and improve LGBT-related content at Wikipedia during the month of June, culminating with a multinational edit-a-thon on June 21. The project is being spearheaded by two organizers with roots in the Pacific Northwest. Meetups are being organized in some cities, or you can participate remotely. Wikimedia Commons will also be hosting an LGBT-related photo challenge.

In Portland, there are two ways to contribute. One is a photography campaign called "Pride PDX", for pictures related to LGBT culture and history. The Wiki Loves Pride edit-a-thon will be held on Saturday, June 21 from noon–4pm at Smith Memorial Student Union, Room 236 at Portland State University. Prior Wikipedia editing is not required; assistance will be available the day of the event. Attendees should bring their own laptops and cords.
