This self-defeating website has discouraged one of its finest editors from contributing -- how insane is that?! And half the new Arbcom is composed of rules brainiacs. (That's what we've to look forward to for 2016!? -- oh joy.) IHTS (talk) 13:44, 2 January 2016 (UTC)

Bristol lead and grammar

I don't know if you (or one of your talk page stalkers) can help? Bristol recently passed FAC at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Bristol/archive2. I then nominated it at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/Bristol where it has several "supports" and an outstanding comment about the graphic and query about the grammar of the phrase "the best city to live in in Britain", rather than "to live in Britain"? Today a comment was added about the lead and grammatical errors. Could you (or anyone) help with any of these please?— Rod talk 20:16, 14 January 2016 (UTC)

"The best place in Britain in which to live", which avoids the ungrammatical "to live in Britain" and the ugly "to live in in Britain". The comment about the lead being too long is certainly fair; even mammoth FAs like Michael Jackson, Australia and Intelligent design have lead sections of no more than 3-4 paragraphs. ‑ Iridescent 23:38, 14 January 2016 (UTC)

true story

Hi Eric,

Funning aside, "As for the pea, they put it in the museum. There it's still to be seen, unless somebody has taken it. There, that's a true story." cygnis insignis 16:14, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

Fair enough, but no mention of a "Royal Museum" there, or of the pea being stolen. Eric Corbett 16:26, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
Thanks, you are a real ... cygnis insignis 16:38, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
Just to expand on that a little, it seemed to me that the text switched suddenly from in-universe to an apparent reality, which is why I rewrote it when I added it back. Eric Corbett 16:44, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
No worries mate, I wont lose any sleep over this. cygnis insignis 18:16, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
