WikipediaThanks for the note but if you think my work revolves around French communes then your going to be extremely surprised. I work on articles all over -an example of today includes Coronel Oviedo, Abaredda, Abacheri, and Mogolo, Hsipaw , Luang Prabang, Karakol but also The Bedeviled etc etc, The Temptress (film). Aside from this I created over 100 locator maps so most countries in the world can have a nice infobox and locator and I'll be aiming to build content geographically and culturally all across the planet. I'm drawing up a list of missing settlements at User:Blofeld of SPECTRE/Missing Settlements. Apart from this I do a lot of work for films and actors on wikipedia. I started Wikipedia:WikiProject Actors and Filmmakers as well as starting the Films by country and year e.g American films of 1936 all the US lists, French films of 2001, Spanish films of 2005, South Korean films of 2005, Argentine films of 1955 etc all across the world. I appeared to be working solely on france as it was a priority to get up and running. I'll add infoboxes and details gradually to fit in around my other work. By main aims are for even coverage primarily geographical, cultural and film articles though which comprises the bulk of what I edit. Regards ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 22:15, 2 March 2008 (UTC) Thanks for you support. I'm not in the least bit concerned though as it is inevitable nobody will delete it. These people need to learn the hard way -I told the nominator he was wasting his time ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 11:32, 9 March 2008 (UTC) Thats great work -Algeria and Sudan are the countries I haven't touched yet and I know how many places are in them!!. I'm going to see though if we can get a better map. Before you go any further I'm going to vhange the cat name to Category:Cities, towns and villages in Algeria. I'm gradually getting around to changing it like this ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 12:29, 9 March 2008 (UTC) OK I've recategorized and categorized the provinvial seats which strangely weren't in the main category. I can't believe how few places there are at present but I also dislike those municipality boxes. Its best to standardize it. I;ve also standardized the map image OK? ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 12:57, 9 March 2008 (UTC) I've lost count on my GA'S but I have 26 Bond GAs alone and at least 10 others I think that I have contributed to . Try reading Abbas Kiarostami or Casino Royale (2006 film) which are FA'S that I primarily wrote. Deforestation in Brazil is also a good un but I rearely spend time concentrating on writing GA's/FA's because so much work needs doing with stub building 15:42, 9 March 2008 (UTC) I have thought about a deforestation series seems as it is such animportant issue. This may interest you to help fill in the missing articles see
Hi yes I've been well aware of that site for months but it only lists the major towns but I agree its better than what we've got at present. I've been guiding an editor who has been adding towns using world gazetter on place slike Armenia, Paraguay and Panama. He is currently adding towns from Kyrgyzstan after I suggested it and we now have over 200!!! For starters I think it is a must to get the major towns started and all settlements later ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 22:44, 9 March 2008 (UTC) Do you think you could leave the link on that page? ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 22:46, 9 March 2008 (UTC) Yes Arabic transliteration is often somewhat difficult to sort out and find the correct name -I've seen duplicate articles exist because of this. Yes Africa, Central Asia and Latin America are the key areas i aim to develop. Perhaps you could think about installing the standard settlement infoboxes for ALgeria and where it says Settlement type=just type in Commune and it will show up -plus we will have a municipality map and locator. I am looking to replace many of these national commune boxes with the standard because they have so many aspects you can add in and not be restricted. Good luck anyway. Every new articles added the closer we become to achieving ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 23:10, 9 March 2008 (UTC) Personally if you want me to be honest I think its best it is done first time unless you think it is vitally important they are stubbed. France was a one off because there were 35,000 and we were lagging behind other wikipedias. Generally I wouldn't advise creating sub stubs. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 23:02, 10 March 2008 (UTC) For some reason the external links are dead. I think its best that yes they are stubbed this is fine but pleas eif you can add the coordinates to the infobox and map ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 23:05, 10 March 2008 (UTC) AfD nomination of Alaa Abdulkareem FartusiAn editor has nominated Alaa Abdulkareem Fartusi, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alaa Abdulkareem Fartusi and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 17:00, 4 March 2008 (UTC) My apologies for prodding that article. I typically take an article at face value (what is on there, references, etc.). I decided to prod it because it seemed odd that if he were to have the largest theme park in Latin America that it would not already have had its own article. I thought the original author might have been using a peacock term when they described it as "the largest" so I decided to prod it (and like with any AFD) in hopes that maybe it will bring some attention to those familiar with the subject or it will be removed accordingly. Again, my apologies.--Ozgod (talk) 16:54, 9 March 2008 (UTC) Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBotSuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun! Since I don't know if you're watching my discussion page on de.wp, I just wanted to inform you I answered on you request. :) --STBR – !? 08:42, 11 March 2008 (UTC) French communesThere's two things we need to sort out. Adding the WikiProject French communes work group to the main france template so all of the articles can be tagged as part of the french communes group and creating some sort of register to assess which communes have got infoboxes. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 11:15, 16 March 2008 (UTC) iN adding the infoboxes to Yvelines I must admit its a bit frustrating that you left out the french wikipedia links but included the others!!! I have no idea why you did this ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 11:55, 16 March 2008 (UTC) Is it possible you could go through Yvelines from Galais onwards and add the french wiki link. Often it is in brackets rather than a comma which might exaplin why the links didn't connect. Its just I am adding infoboxes to all of them and need to access them straight from french wikipedia ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 12:01, 16 March 2008 (UTC) Because French and dutch wikipedia is where we retrieve the information from which is the most important -this way it can be accessed quickly. I figured a bot would add the other wikipedia links within days of starting them. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 14:08, 16 March 2008 (UTC) Algerian townsHi. First, you did a great job on creating articles in Category:Cities, towns and villages in Algeria, however, it would be better if each town article you created would be put into the corresponding category in Category:Provinces of Algeria, also, please use Template:Infobox Algerian Municipality instead of the too generic "Template:Infobox city" which is made for those articles. BTW: You used "West Africa Time" for the time zone of the cities in this category, while this is displayed in FallingRain, please note that Algeria uses Central European Time, which is the same as WAT, just named differently. Of course I can understand that you might be too busy right now to fix all the <500 articles you made, but consider this for the next articles you will create, if you will make any new ones! Keep up the good work . Greets: --ANONYMOUSPUSSY 19:47, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
For the map: what about proposing to someone with enough skills to add this function to the template? BTW: there's again something which I'll compare to a US county: Algerian municipalities have an area, so they are not localites part of another subdivision, they're a subdivision of their own, see this this map and its use on this page. I know, it's complex with Algerian municipalities... --ANONYMOUSPUSSY 14:13, 19 March 2008 (UTC) They are PDF documents here, choose numbers from 1293-1318, it's only in French and Arabic, the main lgs of the country. For the modifications of 1993, see this, documents 277 and 278. For the 2002 modifications, see this and this. For population and municipal number, see this, pages 6-45. It's probably not the most convenient way, but the only one where you can get such data. (These PDFs are BTW presidential decrees) --ANONYMOUSPUSSY 14:37, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
New policy proposal that may be of interestI'm tapping this message out to you because you were involved at the AfDs of Eve Carson or Lauren Burk. Following both of these heated debates, a new proposal has been made for a guideline to aid these contentious debates, which can be found at WP:N/CA. There is a page for comments at Wikipedia talk:Notability (criminal acts)/Opinions should you wish to make a comment. Thanks for your time, and apologies if this was not of interest! Arbitration is usually a very last resort, and I don't believe the issues at hand have reached that point yet, nor have we fulfilled all the requisite preliminary steps for filing an arbitration request. The RfC on Ruby Muhammad is just one step, but informal and/or formal meditation attempts would be required before arbitration could reasonably be requested. Also, no one gets blocked just for their disagreement on what to do with supercentenarian articles. Young was blocked for massive disruption and off-site personal attacks. Kitia was blocked for sockpuppeteering. Bart was blocked for repeatedly and disruptively ignoring consensus. There are still plenty of people who disagree with consensus who no one has ever even considered blocking. This is because they have tried to solve the issues positively and productively. For example, when a lot of the articles were up to deletion, some people went and provided references and rewrote articles to prove their worthiness rather than engage in personal disruption. These are the sorts of solutions we want - arbitration just throws more negativity on the whole situation and I believe is unnecessary at this point - especially since I don't believe that the issues have fully crystallized. There's lots of positive progress that has been been made as well... I think that by discussing the List of living supercentenarians we came to a consensus that, while I do not feel is exactly how it should be, is at least acceptable. Similarly, I have taken several longevity-related articles (John Babcock, Mark Matthews, Moses Hardy) and worked on them so that they could pass the good article criteria. In this manner, I hoped to create Wikipedia-acceptable standards to which supercentenarian articles should strive. So in sum, arbitration is neither appropriate nor necessary at this point, at least in my opinion. Notability of Robert DykHello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Robert Dyk, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Robert Dyk seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. Fake "you have new messages" banner on your user pageHello Editorofthewiki, the use of spoofed user interfaces was discussed extensively here and consensus was that such banners should be removed. —Moondyne click! 05:20, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
Its disappointing that you chose not to remove it yourself. My message here was a politely worded prompt for you to follow the guidelines and I presumed a polite "thankyou, I will" response would have been forthcoming. I am a courteuous person by nature and would generally consider it rude to have changed another's user page without such a notice. Not to worry, I removed it as you suggested. —Moondyne click! 02:39, 1 April 2008 (UTC) |
