Thank you for making the template! As you noticed, I just saw it and was experimenting with it. My recent changes in the template were not attempts to give the map other borders, as I'll explain now.

I noticed that some cities (red dots) were not in the same place as the ones in the map (black dots). Then I saw that Lampedusa was included on the map, which would be impossible according to the coordinates given in the template, so I thought I would try and solve this. But my test showed that it did not help.
I now see that the 1934 fifa article used the wrong coordinates for the cities, so it was not the template that was wrong, but the article. --EdgeNavidad (Talk · Contribs) 20:16, 28 September 2011 (UTC)

Amazing effort!

Hey Edge (I hope you don't mind me calling you that, I'm a huge fan of U2 myself so the name is familiar), I just wanted to congratulate you on the immense effort that you put in updating the english Wiki Tour de France yearly pages (and more) as close as possible to a perfect status. I'm a fanatic of TdF history myself, with great emphasis on the route, host towns and climbs visited each year. I have hand-drawn maps of all 98 editions, which I created, re-created and improved over the past 15 years. I am following the Tour with passion every summer since 1996. Funny how I'm also graduating a PhD degree in something totally unrelated to cycling or history. And I must say that I don't care much for the Giro or Vuelta, apart from the planimetry and altimetry profiles of the stages. I have created a profile on Wiki only to be able to upload my original maps and do small edits such as the correct (or as accurate as I could find) stage lengths and fix the broken links to non-existing stage town pages. I am leaving the other sections intact for now, unless I find some inconsistencies related to overall length / number of stages and host towns. I have updated in this manner the 1993 to 2002 editions, I would like to invite you to take a look at my maps and tell me what you think. One example is 1994 Tour de France. These 10 editions did not have any map posted yet, so I did non remove any contribution from previous users in this respect. I know the maps are not digital images, just high resolutions scans of hand-drawn documents, but I'm thinking this adds a bit of originality to the pages. It will take some more weeks until I scan all my maps, as I don't have all of them with me at this time. In the meantime, I'm thinking of contacting the other contributors that provided maps for the rest of the years (e.g. the 1910 - 1939 period) and asking them if I could replace their versions with mine, so that the entire TdF project could have a unitary look. User:Foundersfriend is connected with the IHPVA, not apparently in any formal capacity [1] but as part of their inner working circle discussing this on Facebook, and outlining the changes they plan to make to Wiki. They have also made unsourced changes to Kinetic Sculpture Race. They seem to have joined Wiki with the express purpose of changing things they "know" to be true, without quite getting the point that Wiki is not here for their gain. The account made one edit today, after a hiatus of one and a half year... Even if they have serious conflict of interest, as you say, it has not really been a problem sofar. The edit on Kinetic Sculpture Race is not harmful, it looks like an honest attempt to improve the article by adding a small (unfortunately unsourced) detail.
If the account is informally connected with the IHPVA, this may be a potential conflict of interest. But as long at it remains "potential", there is no problem. If the account becomes more active, and you think there is a real problem with the conflict of interest, discuss it on their talk page, without accusations or threats. Hi there again, not sure if you remember me Edge. Anyways, I was wondering if you know how people create those maps they use for the infoboxes for the yearly races. I've gotten back into working on the 1988 Giro d'Italia since I haven't had as much homework and extracurricular activities to do. Any help would be appreciated. A useful phrase

I have no doubt that the offence caused was unintentional, but "(sub)nation" is always going to put the back of a Scottish Nationalist like Mais Oui up. I'd suggest either constituent country or non-sovereign nation: these might be against the ambitions of many nationalists, but would not be objectionable. Enjoy the rest of the Giro. 1988 Giro

Hey there Edge,

I was wondering if you could take a look over the 1988 Giro d'Italia page that I've been working on and maybe point on some things to expand on or fix and such. If you don't want to that's okay, I was just wanting an outside opinion on the page. I know I need to work on the summary, I'm currently translating those el mundo pages slowly. I'm going on vacation for a week or so, so I won't respond right away. Any help would be nice, but if you can't/don't want to I understand. It looks OK on first sight, but I have to admit that I did not have a detailed look at the text. One thing I have some problems with is the team list table:
  • The number column has "#" as title. It may not be clear what this means.
  • Code: Is this the UCI code? (I thought these started in 1989). Or a code especially for the Giro? Why do you mention this code?
  • Squad: Personally I don't have a problem that you assign nationalities to the teams, but it is the consensus in the cycling project that teams do not have a nationality. I guess you can defend it, because practically all sources from 1988 assign nationalities. But the WP:MOS is clear on one thing: flags alone are not enough, you should mention the name of the country.
  • Team leader: How do you know that these cyclists were team leaders? Was this a 'official position', for example because these cyclists were assigned the lowest number (1, 11, 21, etc.), or are these journalists' interpretations?
The last point is the most serious, I think. Other than this table, it looks great. I would try to avoid the references to tour-giro-vuelta, as I think that this reference will not survive any serious review. Current link 9 (the route) can be removed without any problem, and for 23 (the final general classification) it should be easy to find a different source. I don't know what the goal of reference 22 is, is it to show who won these classifications? If so, just remove them, they are listed below. If they are to show which jersey goes with which classification, a good source is needed, especially for the combination classification. My name is Tim Blewitt, not Timothy Farrell. I discovered the Attacker-defender-goalkeeper website some years ago and entered it into wikipedia. I don't know the person who developed it but as a keen soccer fan and someone who does not like penalty shootout I entered it in the alternatives section. Proposed deletion of List of results of Ellen van Dijk in 2006

Hi EdgeNavidad, I saw you proposed for deletion a few of my created lists. I understand why you think the lists are "overdoing". In the beginning I also didn't see the advantage of making such a list but in the end, after taking into conisideration the pro's and cons (the points you're noticing) I started creating the lists. If you seriously think these lists should be kept, your next would be to remove the PROD-template in the article (this is standard procedure if you don't agree with a PROD-nomination). But in that case I will nominate these articles at AfD (Articles for Deletion), and there will be a discussion with more participants.
Some arguments I will use in that discussion: The difference between your list and Nadal's 2011 season is that Nadal's 2011 season is more reported in secondary sources. Team classification

Interesting... I tried to delve into the history of the classification but nothing really came up. Even the ELM source for the final stage says that Atala won the classification I believe, but it would not surprise me if the team classification winner was just the winning rider's team... Restoration of previously-deleted Greg LeMond image, using non-free promotional license?

I think there could be a case to be made for restoration of File:Greg LeMond 1988 Vuelta a Andalucia.jpg under {{Non-free promotional}}, for publicity photographs of people or events, such as headshots or posed shots, from a press kit, because there is no free-equivalent image available that I've found thus far showing Greg LeMond racing for PDM. I was wondering if you could help me out and find a date - the day the route was announced for the 1988 Giro; I've searched around and tried different papers but I couldn't find an article talking about the route and its release and whatnot. I'm asking since you found that out for the 1993 Giro that I recently got to GA status. I'm wanting to expand the stage table section with some more information - cause I'm thinking of maybe going for FA status with the 1988 article. If you don't want to do this that's cool. I've looked in my Dutch sources, but found no mention of it... In 1988 the Giro was not yet considered important enough for Dutch readers. I found another noteworthy thing however: the route of the eighth stage of 1989 was changed because American president George H. W. Bush was visiting Rome. 1986 Tour de France

Hi Edge. I'm getting the 1986 Tour de France up to GA and am in need of some help. The classification standings section is a bit of a mess; where can I find the full results for all classifications? Hi, full results for all classifications are hard to find online (I've looked for them many times before), the only place I could imagine where they could be is in a newspaper archive that includes L'Equipe. There are sources that give more places for classifications than listed here (right now I could only find this one for the points classification), but I don't think they qualify as RS.
I didn't add this classification leadership table, I think... I don't know any good place where these are listed. Anyhow, I would remove the combativity award from that list (it wasn't that important back then, and hardly included in results), and replace it by the intermediate sprints classification (it even had a jersey that year).
