User talk:Drat/archive3The Halo CE ChroniclesI guess drat is fairly appropriate for how I feel. I assumed I would have more time than this to work out the details of the show, but unfortunately life got a little in the way of my speedy editing plans. In all fairness I did mark it as a stub. I still feel it would be important to the Machinima project to add a good example of a drama oriented Halo-based series to offset Red vs Blue a little bit. Perhaps in the future I will come back with more research done beforehand. Ccs4ever 18:22, 9 March 2007 (UTC) MachiniminimaHi, I was just reading the Wikipedia thing about Quake Movies/Machinima, and noticed you mention that Psyk's Popcorn Jungle has been offline for ages and that Psyk's email and contact details have disappeared. I thought I'd send you a message because, well... I'm Psyk. No, really. I was Googling the PPJ to see if it was still around in places and came across this Wikipedia entry. To set your mind at ease, yes, I DO still have all the old pages backed up - but they're on an old hard drive and I'll have to get around to copying them off and uploading them. I have a permanent address now at http://www.tv13.co.uk and believe it or not I've done a few movie-related things since the QMovies - you can even see a pic of me on that site. (my real name is Paul - ooh, trade secret!!) I actually still care a lot about the old QMovies (and your assessment that "Psyk blamed it on the rise of Machinima.com" is pretty accurate (I was a right bastard in those days online, but I've mellowed with age =) and if you want me to help in any way with your 'Wikiproject' thing I'd be delighted. If I do say so myself I think I'm the man best qualified to do this anyway - I did make the Encyclopaedia Machinima after all... If you need to contact me (I'm not a Wikipedia registered user, though I read the site every day) my email address is XXXXXXXX. Very nice to find somebody who remembers me (sniff...) and I'd love to make a return to the Internet: after all it's Quake's 10th Anniversary! I had some ideas for DVDs of QMovies, including a Definitive Edition of Dantooine Five-O... hmm... Thanks for reading (unless you tl;dr'd me) and RSVP. Psyk/Paul ps. I really am Psyk, you know. I could prove it, but I won't. pps. You mentioned my review of The Seal of Nehahra. God I love that film. Now THAT deserves a DVD box set... ppps. I just removed my email address because I thought this was a private message!! Now I'm trying to become a member but it doesn't seem to work... Psyk againI've got an account, just so you know, so you can reply on my talk page thing. Thanks, Psyklax RvB & StrangerhoodIt's good to be back... Red vs Blue - hmm. I think I reviewed that one (though I think they've done loads of them now haven't they?) but I remember the review I did of the first one not being very highly praised. I didn't like Tritin Films' stuff, and that was one of them. Quad God was the only one I really though was good, the rest I didn't like much. I'm trying to navigate the internet archive copy of my site for the review... Strangerhood - I'll be honest, I've never heard of it. =] You must remember that Machinima.com began in January 2000 (I think) and I was at the IRC launch thing (I think it was for machinima.com anyhow). I did almost no reviewing after that, so anything later than that I won't have seen. I haven't viewed Machinima.com properly since then, 6 years later. I'd become disillusioned with this new 'machinima' thing, as it wasn't really why I got into QMovies in the first place. Last film I think I reviewed was Seal of Nehahra, which I thought was a fitting end, as it was far and away the best QMovie I'd ever seen. This damn 'Wayback Machine' thing doesn't work properly. I'll seek out the PPJ files at the weekend, but any upcoming updates on the project will have to be on hold for me right now, as I'm going on holiday in the USA next Tuesday. So, bear with me. If I can find all the PPJ files intact on an old hard drive of mine (it was a verrry long time ago) then I'll be pleased. I have aspirations to be a proper movie reviewer, actually, so a couple of hundred reviews of QMovies might be useful. Plus interviews. I only have net access at my workplace at the mo, which makes keeping up with 'machinima' difficult, but I'll try to do some updates on the project. Thanks, Psyklax ps. Ah, I found the Devil's Covenant Anorak Page on the Wayback Machine. Happy days... Thanks for the recapI've got a lot of catching up to do - five years is a long time on teh internets. I noticed that RGB2 wants an article, so I've written a stub to go in place for now. I might expand on it once I can get the necessary materials (this weekend). I'm working on other articles too - the Rangers, Blahbalicious, the Rangers' other films... Is it okay if I work away at articles on as many early films as I can, and stick them on Wikipedia? I don't know how the system works with marking them up on the Project page etc, so I might need a hand with that, but if you have any queries about Machinima 1996-2001, I'm your man. I also plan on working on the 'years in machinima' articles, as it's been marked on the 'to do' list. I might be the only member of the team with first-hand experience of the years I just mentioned, so I'll get to work on them soon. Re your message, I knew the Ill Clan would go on to good things, they have a lot of talent. Apartment Huntin' was a riot when I first saw it, and Hardly Workin' took a long time but was worth the wait - got them noticed I think too. Hey, I'm visiting New York, maybe I could meet the gang? That would be very helpful. Must get in touch with Paul Marino et al! Keep up the good work! --Psyklax 12:18, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Re stubsI'm wondering if all the articles I'm writing really deserve the 'stub' tag. Torn Apart (film) for example I only did because I did the URF article and thought I'd do all their films. I can't see how there's much more that can be said about it. Stubs are a bit subjective I think. I've just finished a quite detailed article on Operation Bayshield, so not sure if stub is right. I'll put them all as stubs when I create them I think, but decision must be made on whether there isn't any more to say. --Psyklax 10:39, 4 August 2006 (UTC) BoxartOk thanks, I've been trying to find some better , clearer boxart as alot of these SNES games have very very low resolution pics and are barely legible. tasmania mapI don't have a wikipedia account, but I've been looking for over 5 years for a map of tasmania with council boundaries. The one you uploaded is good, but I'd like a larger version, or a way to make my own. Could you please email me at romeoskiss4u@msn.com ? Dantooine Five-OAre you familiar with a Quake movie called Dantooine Five-O? Review here: http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~tv13rfc/ppj/oldppj/quake/df1.html (by me). It's a movie made by me and my pals. Now, reason I ask is that I don't know of the validity of me writing an article on it, being as it's my film, because a) a lot of truthful information I write could be seen as original research, b) doing an article on my own film could be frowned upon in itself, and could be seen as violating NPOV even if I try to stick to the facts, and c) validifying it tricky, relating to the first point. What's your take on it? It's debatable how important DF is to machinima history, but if you asked those in the know what the ten most notable QMovies were, DF would probably be in there somewhere, so I feel that it deserves some recognition. I would try to be as professional as possible, but, obviously, it may not help. I actually did moderate for Fidonet, but that bit about "Fidonet Central" was crap, I was never asked to resign. Some of the folks who disliked my moderation tactics dubbed me Hitler, it looks like one of them found my page on Wikipedia. Funny they still go on about shit like that though, it's been over 15 years since I did that. Siegler's in denial. Ask around, the truth will come out. Orphaned fair use image (Image:Ann.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Ann.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. This is an official complaint about you deleting the links to http://www.laughterlog.com . These links are to relevant sites which hold information that is not in Wikipedia, such as complete television lists, radio lists and lists of books written by the artists. You have no right to withold this information from Wikipedia readers because of your personal opinions that it is spam. It is not spam at all. Tell me where else on Wikipedia, or where else on the entire internet you can find a complete television and radio list for Benny Hill and Ronnie Barker which contains airdates. I think you will find that the answer is nowhere. I repeat, this information is not spam, and you have no right to delete it. FixThisGameAlthough I am pleased that you care about the content of wikipedia, deleting external links without really knowing if they are spam is not your place. If external links were ONLY meant for content, there would not be an external links section, nor a section for "unofficial sites" which is the section you deleted. I will add content explaining why the site you deleted is necessary and a valued addition, but it also belongs in the external links section. You might consider asking someone before deleting their submissions if you are going to go to the trouble of telling them not to post spam. To claim that a site may not be a "reliable source" is just ignorance before you have any knowledge of the subject matter. I guess the editors at IGN disagree with you, as do members of Microsoft's tech support, who are sending gamers to our site for valuable information not available elsewhere. Personally I work for a major publisher and have years of experience in writing and publishing. You are not an authority on BF2 nor what information is provided. Note: our site contains no ads, no fees, nada. Again, while I appreciate your effort and intent to keep Wikipedia a clean, efficient, informational source, your enthusiasm to edit before you have all the information is uncalled for. I will re-add/add information that I deem will be excellent and reliable for web visitors. If I feel there is a conflict of interest, I will ask another unrelated third party to do so. --Jester2010 21:57, 12 September 2006 (UTC) EDIT: ok, I just read your pet hates regarding EA...so I guess your ok. :) We agree on one thing, that is for sure! Improving the "Deus Ex" page to Featured statusAs you have been a part of raising quite a few articles on Wikipedia to "Featured" status, I thought you might be the right person to ask for suggestions on ways to improve the Deus Ex article in the same fashion. But, during the week, it's hard for me to do anyting that requires research because of the small pockets of time that I can devote to one thing. CapDac has been doing some good work in getting the Red vs. Blue character articles sourced, so that's one thing off the to-do list. Adding sourced content is always the hardest part; copyediting, while time-consuming, is mechanical. Machinima guruHi Drat. You removed a machinima series I added to several pages, and then sent me a message trying to explain how Wikipedia works. For starters, I've been a regular contributer to Wikipedia for years, and have started many pages here. I'm not a promoter, I'm not trawling for traffic, and I completely understand the rules of Wikipedia, because I've had exactly that problem with other pages that I've maintained. What I'd like to know, is what you consider valid for inclusion on the page "List of machinima". We're up to 2 released episodes, with another 4 ready to go. The quality of production and the writing is good. It's also as far as I know, one of the few Australian series, if any, that are out there, and is the first and only series produced with the new Company of Heroes game. How come other series which have a single episode or which have shut down, are allowed on this list, but you consider ours shouldn't be? You also removed it from the Company of Heroes article, yet allowed a half dozen other fan sites to remain. That doesn't make sense to me. I'm not bitching about it. I'd just like to know seriously, why you think ours must be excluded, and all the others are allowed. Ordinarliy, I'd just remove your deletions, because I think they're unjustified, unbalanced, unfair and short sighted. But I'm doing the right thing and asking before I do so. Why should a fair if not good quality machinina series, not appear on the list of machinima? And, why did you remove it as the only example of machinima in the new Company of Heroes engine section on the Machinima article, when other arguably insignificant machinima are allowed as examples for other entries? And then there's the Red vs. Blue issue. We all love them, but do you really think they need to be mentioned again and again and again on every page? Perhaps the clean up should start by removing some of their references, instead of restricting who can appear by some subjective criteria. Don't you think? You can't have a list for the ones you like, but not for the ones you don't know. Either have the list, or don't. Richard BF 16:50, 14 November 2006 (UTC) DKR - DinosaurFirst off, PNG is an awsome file format, I don't want you're talking about. If you're trying to remove low-quality files, remove all the JPEGs on there. THOSE are the bad formats. Unlike PNG, they blur the images... ALOT! Second off, why remove the section on the Yellow Dinosaur? It's interesting little thing and by making no reference to it at all, you are kind of denying information. Wikipedia is about supplying information, and by removing the Yellow Dinosaur, it's in a way, removing information. But maybe if I put him under a Trivia section instead of characters?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by KrivenR (talk • contribs) . I just wanted to go through and try to defuse any sentiment of favoritism, especially since Red vs. Blue seems to tend to be used as a barometer in more sense than one, which is somewhat unfortunate, because Red vs. Blue is not only by far the most prolific machinima ever, but possibly one of most prolific Internet video series whose popularity poses special issues. A unique situation applies for "Make Love, Not Warcraft" because it's South Park. I really would like to neutralize our somewhat heavy Halo coverage, but, of course, there are odd disparities in coverage all throughout Wikipedia. The answer isn't necessarily to stop adding stuff about Halo machinima; it's to add stuff about non-Halo machinima. Then again, as time has progressed, I've found that the Halo universe in general has grown on me, and I've been trying to clean up bits and pieces of the Halo articles when I can; some are in rough shape. Anyway, I've digressed. — TKD::Talk 11:38, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

I'm very confused since this link has been there for 6 months and my site has a regular stream of visitors, reading the news section of my website will confirm this. I had a problem orginally with you about adding this link to the page and you replied by suggesting going ahead with it and leaving other users of Wikipedia to decide upon its merit. Since not one individual other than yourself has removed the link, I find these rather unfair. I had also added a return link to Wikipedia on my website as an act of gratitude. Another point I wish to make is the wealth of information the site contains, far beyond anything you can find within the article on Wikipedia. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Chris 8419 (talk • contribs) 14:52, 5 January 2007 (UTC). TheTrapDoor.orgThe reason I added the site after orginally leaving a message on Talk:The Trap Door (under a different name), after one week was down to the simple fact that I got sick of waiting, I know your busy but ain't we all. If I had waited after leaving the original message I think I would still be waiting now for it to be approved (some 6 months later). As for the site not having much "encyclopaedic worth", I don't think that the people who have visited my site and left positive messages and sent me e-mails would agree with you, after all the people at Toonhound commented "A newcomer to the Trapdoor fan scene, this one's shaping up to be the ultimate online resource...", somehow I don't think they agree with you. Try comparing it to the Wikipedia article, I think there was more information about the show on the back of the DVD case. As for adding Wikipedia to my links page, this was simply to allow users to return to where they had come from, don't see much harm in that unless you don't consider Wikipedia worthy enought of being linked to. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Chris 8419 (talk • contribs) 21:15, 5 January 2007 (UTC). System Shock - the drink companiesI can't run System Shock on my computer any more to locate the precise reference, but I do remember seeing this information in documents related to System Shock (...but am also willing to admit that the "information" function for various items in System Shock 2 may be the source for my info.) If you feel so strongly, then why don't you write about your feelings on the subject to the person who instigated the transmission times in the first place Pgb62uk. I have merely been adding the transmission times to the very few articles which he did not add the transmission time to. The reason why the transmission times have been added is to show the reason why the television stations later treated the show as a children's programme when the intention, by the Goodies, themselves, was to have the show treated as an adult programme. For the above reason, and as I am about to finish the job, I intend to now revert "Cecily" back to the way I had it. Figaro 06:39, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your comments and feedback. I have read though all the material you sent and feel that my additions are in the letter and spirit of the guidelines. Please review my additions as I feel they add to the subject and are in the spirit of other links on the same page. An example; in the Wolong Panda page I added a link to a Live Webcam from the Wolong Panda Preserve in China. I also note that on the Giant Panda page there is a link to the Panda Webcam at the San Diego Zoo. Please reconsider, thank you PS. I am a big fan of Wikipedia, thank you for making it such a great resouce. Oscar --Oscaricarbone 21:52, 18 January 2007 (UTC) Drat, Is it the policy of Wikipedia that "Webcams serve no encyclopedic value" and should not be included? If so please point me at the section/s that states this. I feel a "picture is worth a thousand words" and a "live" picture of the place or subject (as in the case of the pandas) is of great interest to all. I feel one of the differences between Wikipedia and a printed encyclopedia is the links to "on-line" content, and when that content is "live" it is even more relevant. I don't go correcting your work because I think it doesn't fit. Visual information is often usefull, you can not deny it. And if it wasn't in the interest of people, why do you think them would click on the link that says clearly it is about photos? Have you ever check a book encyclopedia? you never saw photos in it? Anyway, your opinion does not make the rule. I check the external links guideline . Show me where you find the photo gallery link shall be removed? The content of the linked pages are really relevent to linking wikipedia page, at least you can not deny it. For example, the #4 reason is "Sites with other meaningful, relevant content that is not suitable for inclusion in an article." which also corresponds to the added links. If you still want to erase all my work before doing, then you should request a mediation to resolve this dispute. It is quite amazing that someone like you can spend so much of its time to bother someone who is honest and you work to improve wikipedia ! Whats the difference if the information is in a section titled "Development" and has no leading bullet points or is in a section titled "Trivia" and has bullets? I only put the link on those pages because people would find them useful. Please stop taking liberties in future. Thanks. JessPix. Inappropriate removal of links - replyIt wasn't merely as a means of advertising, it was to provide users with information. That's what Wikipedia is for after all. When does a site have to be old enough to be put in the links section without it looking like advertising or spamming? Would it help if, rather than putting the homepage (http://www.the-goodies.co.uk) on each page, that I tailored it so the link corresponded exactly with the Wikipedia page? I would much rather be told what the "protocol" is than having the links taken down at your discretion. I would understand completely if the links had no relevance to the page, but that's not the case, the site, like Wikipedia, is an information provider and I was only trying to do the same. I don't see why that should be a problem, so I would be grateful if the links could be put back; even if it means editing the URL to correspond directly with the Wikipedia page. I don't want to start a fight about this, that's all I'm asking for. Thanks. JessPix. Heh heh, yeah, I admit I put that talk page as a source as a joke, since it was an unsourced statement and a bit of a weaselly, peacock term. Hadn't intended to make a serious point at all, but actually, just out of interest... why isn't it acceptable to use a talk page as a source for something like that? If the statement is "a lot of people belived this hoax", is it not reasonable to link to a discussion where people are clearly swallowing the hoax whole? Would a discussion page outside of Wiki be acceptable. Not arguing - just interested! Half Life 2 is great! Never could get on with the Halo games though. Those blue things with the stupid voices and the pointy heads just drive me nuts. Cheers! Cardinal Wurzel 10:39, 1 June 2007 (UTC) Non-free use disputed for Image:Bowser (smb1).png

Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:43, 6 June 2007 (UTC) Adding links to external reviews / roundups?I have published several Windows Mobile emulator reviews on *all* major Pocket PC / Windows Mobile boards. They are the best articles in the genre (see their sticky status in AximSite's Emulation forum ( http://www.aximsite.com/boards/emulator-forum/ ); several frontpages at PocketPCThoughts ( http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/ ), PocketGamer.org ( http://www.pocketgamer.org/homeindex.php ), Just another Mobile Monday ( http://justanothermobilemonday.com/Wordpress - actually, as I'm writing this mail I've just noticed they've just frontpaged one of these roundups), will be made THE official roundup & tutorials at THE central Emupage of Windows Mobile ( http://emupage.pocketgamer.org/ ) etc. How should I link them in so that noone accuses me of advertising? These are external articles cross-posted to, as has been stated, several WM boards. I may link in *all* the 8 or 9 Windows Mobile forums I've cross-posted the articles to so that noone can say I'm only linking in from one forum (currently, the PPCMag Expert Blog) only. An example of these multi-links are on my old homepage at http://www.winmobiletech.com/ . Menneisyys 09:23, 15 June 2007 (UTC) Thanks for the answer. Unfortunately, currently, the Wiki pages certainly lack any kind of up-to-date (or, with many platforms, any) Windows Mobile-related emulator info. Just linking in some emulators themselves (currently that's all some of the current Wiki pages do) doesn't really help anyone who seeks for help in deciding how those emulators should be used and how they compare to each other. As far as converting & rewriting my articles, they are VERY long (feel free to check them out) - the average size is between 20k and 60k chars, and there are at least ten of them. It would be really hard work to rewrite (to, for example, remove personal opinions / comparisons / recommendations ) & convert them all to the Wiki database. Hence I would prefer linking them - I just don't have the time to rewrite them just "only" for the Wiki. External links linking to all the cross-posts would also be OK with me so that noone can say I'm advertising PPCMag exclusively. As far as converting these articles to the Wiki, in addition to the time factor, my mother tongue isn't being English is another problem. I couldn't rewrite them so that they meet the finest English requirements either. Of course, if someone finds it useful to convert / rewrite all the information in the articles (I don't think they can be made any shorter: they are full of information; any shortening will result in information loss), it's OK with me if he/she does so. Menneisyys 10:41, 15 June 2007 (UTC) Well, I don't think I could reduce / leave out any information from these articles without losing any important and/or useful info - they are nothing else than compatibility, upgradability etc. information, with almost no useless additional stuff (except for asking my readers to read my previous articles, their links etc. - it can indeed be taken away. But this isn't more than, say, 2-3% of the entire text.) I really recommend spending some hours with the articles (and, when available, the feature / compatibility / comparison charts) if you have some time to spend to see why these articles (not just plain blog posts - they are much more) have been chosen THE definitive guides on many leading Windows Mobile web sites and also on the official WM Emupage. I just wanted to help regular Wiki readers not reading Windows Mobile-centric web sites with some top-notch information they otherwise wouldn't be aware of. Trying to picking the most important info out of these articles while keeping the integrity of the entire picure is pretty hard (if not impossible) - that is, it's pretty unlikely I would bother with trying to post an even terser, really-down-to-essential-info of the roundups. Of course, the choice is yours :) If you don't want to link them in, I have absolutely no problem with it: I understand your decision and won't bother you again or the gaming console / computer Wiki pages. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media). If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. I am not spamming, I am adding a legitimate link to the "WWF No Mercy" Wikipedia page. It is not my fault that the creator of the page does not like our site therefore put it on the spam list. If you don't believe me, click the link, and you will see in big letters "The No Mercy Board." Please help me correct this problem, it is unfair to the viewers of this site to not be allowed to see another viable option in No Mercy message boards because one person is decided to be exclusive. Since I've never worked an article up that far before and getting a review just to see what's wrong with it would be a waste of resources, I'm thumbing around, looking for people who might be able to suggest work that needs to be done. I don't know whether my return will (again) be fleeting, or whether I'll return to heavy editing, but, when I saw that big {{Halo series}} template on Red vs. Blue, I knew that I had to get involved again. :) Don't worry about the machinima article collaboration if you don't have time, though it'd be nice to start up eventually. I have a big project going to client release this month, so things have been hectic since January, really. I did keep up with Red vs. Blue the entire time, and I saw 1-800-Magic (but wasn't entirely impressed). — TKD::Talk 10:51, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
CopyvioSince you appear to be fairly vigalant on enforcing copyvios hopefully you can help with this case. I listed BioShock in Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2007 August 12/Articles because of a section you added here. It looks to me like this is a probably a copyvio from Game Informer magazine. Could you perhaps help clarify what you did on the talk page and fix any copyvio problems with the article. Nil Einne 16:53, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
