I follow robotics news closely, and i thought it would be a good idea to make a page about Flexiv. I'm not connected to the company, but i have seen them at a couple of trade shows.
As i only really know about robotics, i thought i would give writing about them a shot. I am going to re-edit the content so it doesn't get flagged for 'unambiguous copyright infringement', but if you could give me any help or suggestions it would be much appreciated. I included a lot of quotes, but does this mean i will have to paraphrase them?
Anyway, like i said if you have any hints or tips please let me know. I never imagined it would be so difficult!
P.s.
I know it must be a pain to deal with someone who has no idea what they are doing, please bear with me, i will get better eventually.
Hi @Spidersinthecupboard, regarding the COI query which I made on your own talk page, please give your response to it also on your talk page; that way it can be more easily seen by others.
Regarding the use of direct quotes, you can use them as long as you do it in line with the MOS:QUOTATIONS guidance; no need to paraphrase (in any case, too close paraphrasing is a form of copyright violation, and should therefore be avoided).
Creating a Wikipedia article is difficult at the best of times, and you've picked just about the most difficult topic imaginable — a company. Your draft will come under intense scrutiny and be declined/rejected for the slightest reason, so your job is to give the reviewer none. Make sure:
That your sources establish notability per WP:GNG / WP:ORGCRIT beyond any doubt.
That you avoid even the slightest hint of promotional or peacock language.
To only summarise what reliable published sources have said about the company, without any original research, embellishment, etc.
Not to go into excessive detail about the company's products and services, their management team, corporate history, etc., unless these are genuinely central to the story. At the same time, give the reviewer a clear reason why this company deserves to have their own article, ie. what makes them noteworthy and not just an unremarkable ROTM business.
Hi, I cant reply there since its archived but felt I must. Yes I read it, again and again and also noted to look on other's pages to find that not all is cited and of course I looked at his peers. please LMK what excatly needed and I will supply it if possible. It's strange a proffesor whom has an hebrew page, a few books, many many articles, head of a program in one of the biggest and few uni' in Israel, cant get a wiki page but maybe it's something I missed and I will fix it. Thank you! BarI2021 (talk) 08:28, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
@BarI2021: do you mean this Draft:Aner Govrin? In which case, what's that got to do with me? I haven't reviewed it, I only added the paid contributions tag. And it's not 'archived', you're welcome to continue working on the draft and resubmit it when you feel it's ready. My advice would be to focus on demonstrating notability, either by WP:GNG or WP:NPROF, because that's the reason why this has been declined three times already. Best, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:36, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
Thank you for your reply. You also wrote so this is why I wrote you. I didnt mean the draft is arvhived. As for demonstrating notability, well I am not sure how to more then I have already.. I placed a few links to his articles which are cited a lot!, mentioned he is the head of the departmenet, wrote 4 books.. Can you please be more specific in helping me what to do? Thank you! BarI2021 (talk) 13:19, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
@BarI2021: the thing is, I've no particular interest in this subject, so don't want to get involved. Also, you're being paid to create this article, so the onus is on you to understand how to do your job. But I will repeat what I've already said: you need to demonstrate notability either per WP:GNG or WP:NPROF (click on those links to see what the guidelines require), and so far you haven't. If you cannot find evidence that proves either type of notability, then chances are this person isn't notable, and therefore cannot have an article. You cannot magic notability out of thin air, it either is there or it isn't. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 09:49, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
Regarding my latest articles
Hey there, thanks for leaving your comments.
I would like to clarify that I am in no way affiliated to the organisations that I have wrote an article about. I do not have any conflict of interest.
I’ve noticed a lack of articles on the entrepreneurship scene in Singapore and I did some research regarding entrepreneurship and the various organisations that the Singapore Government has created to support this scene.
I’ve mainly been looking at primary sources from the Singapore Government, which may have been the wrong approach. Instead I’ll look for secondary sources with established credibility.
How do I transfer information and formatting from my sandbox to an existing wikipedia page?
Hi, You appropriately rejected my request to publish a Wikipedia article because an article already exists about David W. Orr. In my sandbox, I made substantial updates and corrections, and added citations to the article about David Orr. Can you please explain how to transfer those updates in my sandbox to the live article for a Wikipedia reviewer to consider? ~~~
@Keep Colorado Wild: there's no way of transferring them (that I know of, at least); it's just a case of copypasting the additional content from your sandbox to the live article. I suggest doing it in a series of edits, rather than trying to do everything in one bulk edit, in case something goes wrong (and also, in case others take issue with some of your additions, that way they won't have to revert the whole thing). -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 12:20, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
Hello! You left a message on my talk page. Thanks for the feedback, but I don't have any external relationship with the person mentioned on the page. I only see her posts in promotional pages and found out that a lot of articles have been written about her, that's why I've decided to write about her. Aside from her, I'm also planning to write an article about other international Filipino Wattpad writers just like Neilani Alejandrino, but I'll write about her soon once the issues for this article are solved. Is there anything I can do to improve the Draft:Zowey Rens - Wikipedia ? Thank you Kaizen the Great (talk) 13:13, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
Speedy Deletion
Hello! Why is the article considered promotional and not written in neutral point of view when I just wrote based on what I've read on Google News? Does it mean that those Google News articles are not stated in a neutral point of view, too, and are promotional? Thank you 175.176.67.235 (talk) 06:27, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
I'm Kaizen Rose. I'm referring to the article entitled "Zowey Rens". If that was promotional even though I wrote it based on what I read on Google News, does that mean Google News articles are promotional, too? If so, then I won't use those sources in my future Wiki articles. Kaizen the Great (talk) 12:29, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
And if Google News articles aren't promotional, then what can I do to make the article sound neutral? Because I've been asking editors about this but seems like no one wants Wikipedia contributors to improve. Lol. Kaizen the Great (talk) 12:36, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
@Kaizen the Great: firstly, Google News is not a news source, it's a news aggregator; all the articles you were citing were originally published by someone else. As such, Google News is neither promotional nor non-promotional; neither reliable nor non-reliable.
Secondly, you should never copypaste content from your sources (and I'm not saying you did), you should only summarise and paraphrase. This means that if the article you're writing turns out to be promotional, that's down to you, not your sources. Even if the sources are promotional, you can still write a neutral article based on them, and vice versa.
And yes, this draft really was very promotional throughout.
I don't think there is much chance of having an article published on this subject, which quite simply doesn't appear to be notable enough. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 12:45, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
If so, how to make an article sound neutral? Because I've been seeing a lot of Wikipedia articles about different writers and I think mine and their articles sounds the same. Just like this article
Thank you for flagging up the Jonaxx article, it has all sorts of problems, and I will look into dealing with it.
See WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. There will inevitably be articles out there that are promotional, don't meet notability criteria, etc., but this is no reason to create more such problems.
In any case, you should not use existing articles as a model (unless, perhaps, they are rated GA = good article); you should follow the various guidelines instead. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 13:00, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
Draft:Venu Nair
Hey there, thanks for leaving your comments.
I would like to replace the photoFile:Ettumanoor.jpg which has been marked as a possible copyright violation with another new photoFile. And I would like to upload the content if there is no copyright violation.
@Sarath2003 You want to replace the photo? Fine, go ahead.
Your draft still contains what looks like significant copyvio. You need to get rid of it ASAP, copyright violations are not acceptable even in the draft space.
Even then, this draft would not be accepted, as it seems to be entirely unreferenced, the list of external links is far too long, etc. Please see WP:YFA and WP:REFB for advice before submitting the draft.
Also, I will post on your user talk page a message about conflicts of interest. If you have any sort of external relationship with this person, you must disclose it. If you have no such relationship, please state that clearly on your talk page. Thanks, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:09, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
Frozen Planet II
Hi DoubleGrazing,
Thanks for your feedback re. the copyright flagging for the Frozen Planet II article. Is it the list of key species / filming locations that are falling foul here, (that's the only part I copy and pasted)? Everything else is written in my own words albeit using the original material.
@Merely another passerby It's not just that, there is also other content that seems to have been at the very least closely paraphrased, see here. But because it wasn't entirely clear-cut, I requested a review by someone more knowledgeable than myself. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 06:57, 7 September 2022 (UTC)
@Merely another passerby Yes, that's certainly an improvement. However, the copyvio detector doesn't return pass/fail as such, it just reports on similarity. Basically every passage that is highlighted in red is a potential problem; ideally there shouldn't be any, apart from names, publication titles, etc. which obviously cannot be reworded, as well as direct quotes (which must be clearly marked as such). So I would suggest that there is still more work to be done here. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 07:55, 7 September 2022 (UTC)
Ok we are down to just names now when I run the check. ;)
Hi @Raffay78681: welcome, and thanks for your message.
The sandbox is an area where you can experiment with editing, test out features, etc., without it affecting any published content.
There is a shared one at Wikipedia:Sandbox, which also tells you a little bit more about how it works. Note that this shared sandbox gets automatically reset after a while, so don't do anything there which you may want to keep, or which you need to work on for a long time.
You also have your own personal sandbox, which you can see in the horizontal menu on the very top of each page, when you're logged into your account. That one is better suited for eg. developing new article drafts.
@Maulik.b.dave: I couldn't deleted it if I wanted to, as I'm not an admin. And you need to stop messing with the draft, before you get sanctioned. You've been advised to seek help at the Teahouse, and that sounds pretty good to me. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 07:57, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
About submit an article
It ia allright my friend. It was It was a mistake of me, due to my not perfect english. I didn't mean to publish an article. Anyway, I'm doing tests in the sandbox. Οσελότος (talk) 12:15, 21 September 2022 (UTC)
@Timtrent quite so. Thanks for opening that SPI, I was being plain lazy and just requested G5 speedy on Draft:Priyanka kewat, thinking someone will connect the dots and make a sock out of it. Which you did. :) Ta, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 14:31, 29 September 2022 (UTC)
