December 2022

Information icon Hello, I'm Faster than Thunder. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Cloudy Mountain, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Faster than Thunder (talk | contributions) 03:18, 9 December 2022 (UTC)

Really? All I did was add the year for the older of the two sources already attached to the information I was modifying. The source was from 2018, so I updated the statement to say something to the effect of, "In 2018..." I'm not sure I see the concern here? Also, I'm certainly not a beginner. Please clarify your concern here. DonIago (talk) 03:21, 9 December 2022 (UTC)

Article description of Jon Mohr

Based on the information on the Wikipedia page, it says Jay Mohr was born in 1970. What I did was add "(born 1970)" to the article description as that information was already presented in the article and it is consistent with how other articles of people are described. If I include information from the Wikipedia page, do I need to cite it? Iffinfinito (talk) 19:40, 23 December 2022 (UTC)

Superman IIII

Hi, dude. how are you? I put the respective source in what I wrote earlier in the article, but another one arrived and it is causing me problems. That is why I decided to step aside and dedicate myself to other editions. I never heard your opinion on the subject. Now the same guy is bugging me on my talk page. I'll better dedicate myself to editing other topics. A situation where one tries to contribute and others make life miserable is sad. JeanCastì (talk) 16:42, 12 January 2023 (UTC)

I'm fine, thanks for asking. Hope you're doing well too. I'd suggest, in accordance with WP:BRD, that if you have a concern with your information being removed that you start a discussion at the article's Talk page so that other editors can review and weigh in on the matter (provide a diff so it's clear what you're disputing). Given some of your phrasing in your comment to me here, and your prior use of all-caps to address me, I would strongly urge you to be careful to word your concerns as neutrally as possible, and not blame anyone or cast aspersions. Remember to assume good faith.
As far as my opinion; right now I don't have one. The source you provided appears to be CBR.com, and the concern appears to be that that's not a reliable source. I checked at WP:RSN but couldn't readily find anything on the subject, but I also didn't spend a lot of time looking. DonIago (talk) 17:29, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
Doniago then you should be the one to correct me, not that guy Mike. If such a source is unreliable, then blacklist it as with others. That has no mystery. I have always presumed good faith, but there are people who take advantage of it to treat me like dirt. JeanCastì (talk) 19:48, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
That's not really how Wikipedia works Jean. The fact that I was the first editor who reverted your change doesn't mean that other editors cannot revert your change for the exact same reason, or for entirely different reasons (for instance, I could revert your edit for having no source, and another editor could revert your edit because they take issue with the source you subsequently provide, even if I do not). We also don't maintain a blacklist of every single unreliable source; there is WP:BLACKLIST, but that's primarily intended to address spam. In any event, Wikipedia is a collaborative editing environment, so if you're confused as to why another editor reverted you, your best option is to ask them (nicely), either directly, or via a conversation at the article's Talk page as I noted above. DonIago (talk) 19:57, 12 January 2023 (UTC)

The Nine Divines inclusion on Fictional Religions Page

While I understand what you are trying to say, that The Nine Divines isn't important enough and doesn't even have it's own Wikipedia article. But The Elder Scrolls series has sold millions and religion in the series is considered an important aspect of the games. Skyrim alone sold 30 million copies. If you search for "The Nine Divines", or "Nine Divines" on Google, dozens of articles pop up for The Elder Scrolls religion. There are only 22 religions in the fictional religions page and religions of similar popularity, such as Warhammer, are included.

How "notable" does a fictional religion need to be to be included on the website? Exaltist Ethan (talk) 00:10, 14 January 2023 (UTC)

I'd say the religion itself would need to be considered significant enough on a real-world basis that, if it doesn't have its own Wikipedia article or significant (sourced) coverage within another Wikipedia article, that you could provide multiple real-world sources that have discussed the religion at some length.
That said, if you disagree, you're welcome to start a conversation at the article's Talk page so that other editors can weigh in! DonIago (talk) 03:21, 14 January 2023 (UTC)

The Big Bang Theory edit reversal

The Big Bang Theory edit reversal
Sorry, I would have messaged you earlier in response to you reverting 'The Big Bang Theory' edit I made awhile ago, but I didn't know how to message you before now. There is at least one episode during which Howard's mother's is partially seen. During one such episode, Howard's mother's arms are visible when Raj is climbing out the window to escape her and she grabs him around his waist and pulls him back into the house, so thanks for reversing my incorrect edit. :-) Hatwoman (talk) 22:07, 16 January 2023 (UTC)
Amusingly enough, I just caught a re-run of an episode where Raj is in the dining room, and I was surprised to see Mrs. Wolowitz be visible in the kitchen in the far background briefly. Not enough to make out any real detail (perhaps if you paused), but there was definitely a glimpse of a person as opposed to the usual disembodied voice. DonIago (talk) 23:49, 16 January 2023 (UTC)

Breaker Morant - Daisy Bates

Hi, I see that you've removed the cross-reference from Breaker Morant to Daisy Bates. I understand that you do not regard Wikipedia as a reliable source of information, but IMHO, that's just laziness: if you don't want people to click on the link for references, copy the references from the referenced article. 1.159.58.220 (talk) 05:58, 22 January 2023 (UTC)

Wikipedia isn't a reliable source, as discussed at WP:CIRCULAR. Please don't ask others to fix your mistakes when you're just as capable of copying the appropriate references yourself. DonIago (talk) 08:46, 24 January 2023 (UTC)

Jules and Jim

I don't need a source because I'm discussing the movie itself.72.182.214.102 (talk) 17:09, 26 January 2023 (UTC)

Yes, you do, per WP:IPCV, as I noted in the message I left on your Talk page. DonIago (talk) 21:13, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
If you watch a movie and then mention something that happened in the movie, there doesn't need to an external source. What would the external source have to add, other than "Oh, this happened in the movie?" This sort of thinking leads to over-citation or citing for the sake of citing. 72.182.214.102 (talk) 16:28, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
Have you read WP:IPCV? The goal isn't to establish that it happens in the movie; the goal is to establish that it's considered significant that it happens in the movie. Otherwise every Family Guy and Simpsons article page would be littered with every pop culture reference that occurs in each episode. DonIago (talk) 17:36, 27 January 2023 (UTC)

Yes i am having trouble understanding the citing process i think, but here is the source: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071853/fullcredits/?ref_=tt_cl_sm#:~:text=...-,Dancing%20Knight%20(uncredited),-Roy%20Forge%20Smith Daftschu (talk) 02:15, 29 January 2023 (UTC)

IMDb isn't a reliable source, per WP:RS/IMDb. DonIago (talk) 02:21, 29 January 2023 (UTC)
